I was previously using a car adapter with two USB slots to charge both my Blackberry 9710 and Jawbone headset. When I switched to a Blackberry 9900 and also purchased a Blackberry Playbook I noticed that neither would charge using the old adapter. I tried to locate a new dual USB-stlyed adapter but none I could find would charge the 9900 and Playbook. I decided to play it safe with the OEM charger and was not disappointed (see my review).Sometimes when traveling the rental autos have the charger adapter inside the middle console under am armrest. THE OEM charger has a thick twisted cable that prevents me from closing some armrests if I feed the cord through so I can have the blackberry in view. This cable is thin enough and long enough (29.5" from charger adapter to bottom of micro USB adapter cable.) The cable retracts and extends without tangling and there is an unobtrusive blue light emanating from the charger. This charger charges the 9900 and the Playbook.
Update: This cable did become loose and is currently unable to charge any device properly. Perhaps this is inherent with a thin retractable wire.
