I was a bit hesitant to buy this item, because there were absolutely no reviews up on Amazon. But after shopping around and finding nothing more promising, I decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did.
It arrived several days early, and it works great. It includes two cables for powering the cradle: an AC cable to plug into the wall, and a USB cable to plug into your computer. Each one has its own input on the back of the cradle. You can use whichever one you like, and save the other one for other uses.
There is also a third port on the back of the cradle: a 3.5 mm headphone jack. You can plug a standard headphone into that and listen to the music stored on your G1 while it is charging. Or, you can us a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable to connect your G1 to your stereo. Pretty handy!
Note that if you use the AC cord to power the cradle, that leaves the USB input free. This is the same type of mini-USB port that is on the bottom of the G1, so you can use your included G1 headphone adapter to listen to music through that, too.
The slot for charging a spare battery works great, too. The battery fits snugly, but not too snugly, and there is a little tab that you pull up on to pop it loose when you are done charging it.
Two little quibbles: One, there is a very bright blue LED on the front top of the cradle. It is always on, if the cradle is plugged in; it doesn't imply charging or full charge or anything else. If you are a light sleeper and have this cradle in your bedroom, it might be annoying. Nothing a piece of electrical tape wouldn't take care of, though.
Second minor quibble: getting the G1 into the charging slot requires that it be slid in at precisely the correct angle. If (like me) you keep the cradle next to your bed, and try to slide the phone into the slot in the dark after your girlfriend has already gone to sleep, it is a bit of a challenge. It took me a few days to get used to it, but now I do it without any problems. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve.
I might add a third quibble about the fact that there were absolutely no instructions included with the device. But it was pretty self-explanatory, so I won't penalize them for that.
Finally, if you are wondering where the USB port cover on the bottom of the phone goes during charging, fear not. There is a little cavity just below the cradle slot for it to dangle into. The entire design is very well thought out. Five stars out of five.

After 2 months mine has stopped charging. The light still comes on but neither the battery nor the phone will charge in the cradle.Best Deals for Amzer Desktop Cradle with Extra Battery Charging Slot for T-mobile
As a previous reviewer mentioned, I, too, was slightly hesitant to purchase this cradle because of so few reviews. However, based on that one review, I went ahead and ordered it. As I opened the box, I was pleased to see how attractive it looks, and a great match for my black G1. I found it very easy to insert the G1 into the cradle, and really appreciate the thoughtful cutout for the small charging cover so it doesn't get squished. A friend has a different brand's cradle, and had to remove the charging cover in order to use it.As for how it works, it does everything claimed. There are two types of cords that come with it, one for plugging into the wall, and the other for a USB connection to the computer. I have used both. When using the AC connector, a bright blue light glows on the front of the cradle, however when attached to a computer by the USB cord instead, that light does not come on. I swear my phone charges faster with this cradle than by usual means.
I highly recommend this Amzer Desktop Cradle to anyone seeking an attractive, sleek-looking cradle that doesn't take up a lot of room.

1. Somewhat pointless but cool.2. Bought it, worked at first.
3. Found to my distaste that this actually does start malfunctioning after a month or so, the other guys were right. I found the usb cable that it comes with to be useful, as well as the seperate charger, the dock it self, not so much, just a minor convenience that allows the G1 to charge while standing.
