Ordered 2 of these batteries in September 2013. Amazon delivered both with a battery manufacture date code of 110329 which according to Panasonic translates to 2011 March 29. Even for Sealed Lead Acid Batteries 30 months is not considered new. Get on the ball Amazon and make demands on your suppliers to provide fresh batteries. Now when trying to return these Amazon states: For safety reasons, items that are classified as hazardous materials or use flammable liquids or gases cannot be returned to Amazon.com. Customers should dispose of hazardous materials according to Local, State and Federal regulations. Customers should contact their local government or local waste company for directions on how to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste.

Panasonic batteries are the most reliable batteries that I have ever used. Every Panasonic brand rechargeable battery that I have ever used (NiMh, Nicad) has lasted at least 10 years, and I have used dozens. I expect this sealed lead acid battery to behave the same way.

Battery backups are a bit pricey. Unfortunately, the battery typically only lasts for a couple of years. Although the manufacturer of mine advised me that my model didn't have a user-replaceable battery, they reluctantly informed me that this was the battery I would need. Replacing the battery really wasn't difficult (instead of a convenient slide-off panel, I had to remove a couple of screws and pull the whole case apart). I was happy to avoid the much higher cost of replacing the entire UPS. Seems to be working as expected. The UPS reports a full charge.
