I took a chance and tried this with my NookColor, using the NookColor cable. This gadget does 'work,' but what the NookColor indicates, under 'About This Device,' is 'not charging.'

So, it didn't actually DIScharge it, but... didn't charge it. I tried it in two different vehicles.

Update on 7/15/13:

This Does work, to charge my Smartphone in the car -still won't work with the Nook (unless Nook has made changes I'm unaware of), but it's helpful for charging my Galaxy S4.
