Hooked this little guy of to a nice power supply and a oscilloscope and gave it a work out. Once set to the desired output voltage, changing the input voltage or load had almost no effect on regulation. I've been using to drive parts-express's BT-1A Bluetooth module in my car and it's holding up quite well. Can take the Florida heat and the abuse of being in a car and still hasn't changed its output voltage from 5V. The price is excellent and I recommended this to all of my engineering friends.Best Deals for LM2596 DC-DC Buck Converter Step Down Module Power Supply Output
Does just what it's designed to do...steps down DC voltage. Input and Output connections are clearly labeled, output voltage is easily adjustable. Quite a handy little hobby gadget.I use it outdoors in below freezing temps, doesn't seem to bother it at all.

The first item I received was completely the wrong item. Seller was quick to send out a replacement which turned out to be the right one. Quality and utility is excellent. I am using this to power a Raspberry pi from a 12 v source. The pi is very finicky with the 5 volt input supply voltage. With this converter, you can adjust the output to exactly what you want, for my purpose I set it to 5.15 volts which works out well for the pi. It is pretty efficient, meaning it takes a lot less than 500 ma of the 12 volt supply to output 500 ma at 5.15 volts. A linear voltage regulator would burn up 7 volts (3.5 watts) of heat, while this guy barely gets warm.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LM2596 DC-DC Buck Converter Step Down Module Power Supply Output
I bought one of these to use in a couple of projects. When it arrived I had some problems with it, and emailed the vender for help. Within a few hours I received an answer (from China) with a few suggestions and questions. I emailed back and within a day I got a reply that they had shipped me a new unit! Excellent service I think! The second one works great. I like the product and I'll be ordering a few more of them. The only down side is that shipping from China takes a couple of weeks. Not usually an issue for me.By the way, the problem I was having was probably my fault in the first place. The device arrives with the potentiometer set for near maximum output voltage. It also adjusts very slowly and takes many turns counter-clockwise to see any voltage changes at the output. The output voltage always appeared to be .5V less than the input and it didn't seem to me that the potentiometer had any effect. However, this is actually a feature and allows the output to be precisely adjusted. Just persevere and keep turning it CCL and you'll eventually see the output voltage drop.
