I bought this to use with my Anker powerback 10A external battery. It allows me to use any 12V auto adapter (such as for my Garmin Nuvi) to supply portable power. While this could have been achieved through other cabling, the car charger doesn't make the device think its connected to a PC, hence it can be charged and used at the same time. Overall, this did what I needed and added 12 V auto capability to an already versatile external battery.
