This device solves the problem of running electrical appliances through your auto cigarette lighter when their amperage exceeds the fuse on your lighter. Your cigarette lighter runs through a fuse with a specific amperage. Exceed the amperage -blow a fuse. Use a higher amperage fuse -risk melting the delicate wires and shorting out your car's electrical system. The heavy-duty tire air pump I bought kept blowing fuses until I bought this device that works as promised.
The clips are (just barely) big enough to grab the battery terminals. The plastic wraps around the clip handles that prevent the battery from shocking you are cheap and thin and should be reinforced with electrical tape. That done, it works well (and for prolonged use keep the car running to avoid draining the battery).
