I useful the USB for my smartphone in my vehicle. I recommend to get that one. I am struggle with the wrist strap and wonder how to connect to the USB. So I don't bother to use the strap. The unit arrived as advertised. The 12 socket it is plugged into is inside the center console.It does not generate any heat and turns off when no in use.
