The cord does not retract. I haven't even used it because that was the reason I chose this one. I have too many cords in my car already.I was disappointed, but the price may make up for the defect if the retraction is not an issue.

This is the first retractible car charger I've seen. So many times I have bought car chargers. I drive a manual 5 speed car so having a cord wrapped around the stick shift is dangerous, not to mention annoying. Since buying this product, I don't have any issues with extra cords anywhere. It pulls out and stays put. When you need to put it away, you simply press the button to retrack the cord. So much easier than having extra cord hanging around everywhere. Great idea!! Love it!
