I've had mine for about 10 years. It's been left outside in the elements most of that time and I never expected it to last this long but it's still going strong. I bought it at a farm and ranch supply chain (Orschlen's) that went out of business here in Bonham Texas for $75. Best $75 I ever spent. The only thing that's gone wrong is the set of cables & clamps finally gave out this year so I just cut an old (but heavy duty) pair of jumper cables in half and installed those works great. I've never had to use it for a 6V system but I need to now, and since the sun has faded all the paint off I needed to look at the switch diagram to make sure I remember the switch combinations for the 6v charging. This unit has served me well so I would have to say if you're considering getting one I vote yes.
