I'm sooo happy with this little thing! Brand new double AA batteries would only last about 3 to 4 hours on the H4n...love the recorder, but such a let down with battery comsumption. But WOW I've already recorded about 8 hours and not even half way on the Gomadic. And the ability to charge my iphone or anything that charges with usb is great. And the amazon picture makes it look wayyyy bigger than it actually is. It's really small. Fits in the palm of my hand. If you do a lot of recording with the H4n and can't stand replacing batteries every day, this is a MUST have item!

I used it for a market commercial/performance, to power my H4N, with my Rode NTG2 Condenser Shotgun Microphone phantom power, and lost only 2 of the 5 power lights indicators, during 3 hours of non stop use. I think that's pretty good.

If you ever tried to be on location all day and work with AA's you'll understand what a god send this battery is.

No more constant switching off to save batteries (and loosing recordings because the Zoom takes so long to power up!!!), or you swap batteries every 2-3 hours if you're lucky (most of the times it's less).

Once you work out that you have to press the batteries only button to activate it before starting the Zoom, you are running all day without switching the Zoom off at all. I tested continues recording and got over 12 hours.

I shoot with the Rode NTG 2 or 3, can't remember, it's been in the zeppelin so long. I run phantom power from my Zoom H4Ns AA batteries or AC adapter and that as you know drains AA batteries like crazy. So I found this Gomadic. For about the same budget as my AA consumption for a 12 day shoot, I could take a chance on this battery pack to power my Zoom and Mic. I couldn't find any real estimate for how long one charge would last for my use. That's why I'm writing this review to say, this is an amazing piece of essential gear which will save you tons of money. It arrived charged. So I plugged it in and topped it off. There are 5 battery indicator lights to let you know what the charge status is. So with a full charge I shot all day long. Even when not recording, I left the Gomadic on. I wanted to get a sense of the life of a charge. I shot from 9AM to 9PM and I lost only 1 tick from my 5 ticks of charge. So let's estimate in 12 hours I used only 20% of the battery. I love this Gomadic. I highly recommend getting the package with the curly cord and the adapter tip for the Zoom, all packaged together. It processed and shipped fast.
