One reviewer said it was complicated. I agree the controls and labels are unintuitive. Not informative in a clear manner. But the operation is pretty simple. A few minutes reading the instructions make sit clear enough. A couple of uses and it all makes sense. This unit can check your alternator, tell you if a battery has an open or shorted cell. It can recondition batteries suffering from sulfanation. It will charge at 25 amps which is faster than many chargers. Plus it can put out 75 amps for a short time to give a quick boost. All in all a good charger for many purposes. I will deduct one star for the non-intuitive design which easily could have been made a non-issue.

I thought I was taking a chance on this product when I found it at a Black and Decker Outlet store in Michigan. I figured mine is getting old and I should get a spare.

However, I soon found that I had gotten very lucky for $40. This tool seems fool-proof (I should know) and does seem to be pretty automatic as stated. As soon as the battery is charged it will reduce the charging amperage on its own. I have not even used all the options yet, but the battery reconditioning function is pretty cool--I've saved one so far that I would have otherwise replaced. Also, the cable storage makes it nice and tidy on the shelf. Remember that to perform a jump-start a car, though, it will only perform the task a few times, then needs four or five minutes to 'recharge' in order to do the jump-start again.

I live on a boat at sea. I've used this charger at least 2,000 times. (Powered by Honda generator) Around the first year the fan went out so I put a cheep fan blowing on it (I think my not having a good "ground" is the culprit fore the fan failure). Around the 4th year the "Charge rate" button became difficult to press so I use a rubber coated piece of something to press that button. After 4+ years of that I fear I may be breaking that button. I have a spare "cave-man" charger, but this charger seems to double the life expectancy of my batteries. (They cost 3X what the charger dose easy.) So now it's been more than 8 years and my fear that button may break compels me to buy a new one (I've owned a dozen different chargers and this one has already lasted many times longer the all the others.)

Conclusion: This charger has a few flaws. But money being no obstacle I'm still going to get another one and my batteries increased longevity compels me to give it a full five stars

Good product. I've used the air pump several times, the hose and connector are more than adequate. The battery charge indicator works great. Having to use an extension cord to charge this product is a minor inconvience. Charging took 2 hours the first time and when I needed to jump my battery 3 days later, I had no problems. And my kids love the USB port, so they can charge their I-Pods while we are camping.

This does NOT have an Air Compressor as stated on the Amazon page. And even if it did I would still return it as it is very complicated. The user manual is a nightmare. There is no easy quick start instructions. Perhaps this is appropriate for a Profession car mechanic. Nothing easy or intuitive about the unit or the manual. This is likely a quality product from B&D, but seems like a collage class is necessary to use the damn thing. I plugged it in, I got a bunch of flashing lights, beeping, and codes on the LED screen. Forget it.
