A prime selling point is the internal technology it's designed to handle high startup loads for longer than most inverters. Note that a common load nowadays laptops and electronic equipment (which use their own transverters) have a high capacitive load. Power tools usually an inductive load. So you need an inverter that won't trip out while most modern (i.e. non resistive) loads start.

For my wife's van 3 laptops and a Wii is common. For my truck for various power tools. My trusty 400W would no longer reliably handle the load. Esp at startup without a plug which in first dance.

Don't look for cigarette lighter adapter it just won't work for 800W. They're common with 400W inverters but won't reliably supply them either (12-14v x 15 Amps is about 200 watts). And even your cigarette lighter wire is usually undersized (read not for continuous use at fused amperage) So don't ding any high power inverter over cigarette lighter adapters it's a simple technical requirement.

To handle the load, I'm running new fused power wires from the battery through the firewall to the dash.

Note one trick on running wire run two 10 gauge wires instead of one large one for each polarity. Just be sure each red/positive is individually fused at the battery and the you can tie them together at the inverter (each wire is self protected safe and both together supply needed current). This is a common trick used by HAMs and others. Much easier wire to work with and fuses (up to 40A) are standard automotive fuses and holders.

I use this power inverter to power a laptop, webcam, and video camera while storm chasing. The only problem I have is the USB slot. It will not keep up with a smart phone, at least with everything powered up and charging. I fixed that issue by adding a small extension cord.

Really this inverter works pretty good. Keep in mind you're getting what you pay for. If it's cheap, don't have overly high expectations for a product to last 20 years. Mine is used and abused as it sits in the floor of my car. Passengers kick and step on it all the time and it continues to function.

All in all I thinks it's worth the purchase.....

This power inverter is awesome. So, you are reading this waiting to find out what that one thing is...it's the stupid fuses. Whistler decided it was a good idea to put them on the inside of the inverter instead of making it easy to replace them on the outside of it. But wait it gets better. They are soldered in which makes it a PITA to replace. The reviews say they don't blow easily, unless you are an idiot and hook the pos and neg up backwards. Then you deserve to spend the time to re-solder new fuses in. But seriously this is an outstanding inverter. I have already used it a bunch of times using drills, sanders, and a dremel in the first week of getting it. Other websites give a description saying it comes with 6 foot cables but thats combining both which are really 3 feet each (pos and neg). The terminals are on the wimpy side but who cares, this thing kicks butt. I wish it came with a digital display that shows the watts, volts, amps, etc like the larger units have. Its a perfect size and has the tabs on the base to mount it to whatever tickles your fancy. Don't expect it to come with the cigarette attachment thingy. Its too big and will blow your vehicle cigarette outlet fuses. Most people assume the mid size inverters come with it. They don't. Get over it. Just use the alligator clamps and throw it on your battery or be a man and hard wire it into your rig. Buy it right now.

Edit...I just used this inverter to power a small George Foreman Grill! The cables got a little warm so keep an eye on them. Mmmmmm grilled cheese sandwich!!! What else can I run on this thing?!

The white battery portion is useful as a booster for a long hiking trip (charges phone up to about 80%), but the panel only really works when in direct sun, pointed almost directly at the sun, for several hours at a time. This can be problematic when backpacking, which is what I bought this for.

After receiving the cables, I was anxious to know how they were for quality. The real test was about to happen.

My dad owns a Freightliner Century, and had to jump start it. He was considering constructing his own booster cables with durable clamps with parts from the local parts store. After convincing him to give these a try, we placed the order and waited.

It came in a great carrying case (which was of course in a box from Amazon). My dad used them to jump start his truck, using his friend's truck for power. It took no time to do so. My dad, being a very picky individual, was very pleased with the cables, and even his friend asked where he purchased them from.

They truly are heavy duty. I believe they are made in USA as well. Well, at least this is what I found after doing a search online for the model #.

Very heavy duty cables but I am going to replace the clamps,they (the clamps)are to flmsy and they just wont hold on to a side post battery,and most new or nearly new cars have side posts.That being said they should use another type of clamp.Like I have said the cables are really heavy duty.

These are some heavy duty cables,seriously thick cables just like my 1ga welding leads , not 100% sure about the gauge wire in there ( and not cutting it open to find out ) but they work great even with a completely dead diesel. The cable is on the stiff side which I was expecting and GLAD to have trouble with when winding back up to put away in the case ( good cables DON'T wind up like a wet noodle )

I have a lot of experience with jumper cables LOL I have had cheap ones that wouldn't jump start a lawn mower and really good ones that I use for my trucks and these are definitely goods ones, good enough to replace the set I have been using for years that would jump anything off. The only problem I had with my old set of cables is they were only 16' which was a problem last time I had to use them which caused me to look at and buy these and I have no regrets.

The clamps are a LOT better than I expected them to be, they hold really well and are built SUPER DUTY STRENGTH, these even worked out great jumping off my powerstroke after it sat for to long and they take a LOT of juice to get cranking.

The included case is just a cheap plastic box that I don't see lasting very long but it is functional for now to keep them organized in my trucks toolbox which is great if you have ever had a set of LONG cables get tangled up in a trucks tool box with all the other stuff in there you know what I mean.

They are a great value for the less than eighty dollars they cost now, 800ammps? not sure, but they do work good and are long enough to reach from one end of a vehicle to another.

BUY them while you can get them they work great

I figured I would ad I am using these in Florida so can't really comment as to how good they are in the freezing cold and hope I never can but here in sunny Florida they flex as expected and work great

This package includes two new Rayovac "Hybrid" rechargeable NiMH AA cells, plus a simple charger. Similar to the Sanyo "eneloop", the Hybrid is also advertised to have low self-discharge rate, but not as low as that for eneloop. The eneloop is supposed to retain 85% charge in 12 months (when stored at 20 degree C), whereas the Hybrid is supposed to retain 80% charge in 6 months (no mention of temperature).

On the other hand, the capacity for the Hybrid is rated at 2100mAh, which is slightly higher than that for the eneloop (2000mAh). I have tested both brands and can confirm that both ratings are accurate. In actual applications, the difference in performances between Hybrid and eneloop cells is probably negligible. So it all comes down to price. Unfortuantely, this Hybrid package offered here is just not a good value compared to similar eneloop packages.

The charger included here is a timer-based dumb charger. It forces you to charge cells in pairs (either 2 or 4), and it does not know whether the cells are fully charged. It simply charges at around 350mA for 8 hours and turns off (obviously it was designed for 2500-2700mAh batteries, because 350mA*8hr=2800mAh). In contrast, the chargers included in eneloop packages are "smart", in the sense that they charge cells individually, and stop whenever each cell is full.

Unless prices for the Rayovac Hybrid batteries come down significantly, I'll say stay with the Sanyo eneloop.

This charger is perfect for you Rayovac rechargeable batteries. It does have indicator lights that give the status of the charge. I like the older style better that red LEDs since they turned off when the charge was complete. This changes the indication (steady to flashing). The batteries get quite hot when charging, but this is normal. The Rayovac rechargeables are super batteries. They hold their charge in the camera or device as well as in a zip lock bag inside my camera bag unlike other NiCd type batteries. I only use these types of batteries now in my Canon i5is and the associated Canon flash, and I also use them in a set of noise canceling headphones (AAA). The storage lifetime and use lifetime is exceptional. The charger can charge AAA or AA and even paired mixes of each kind (e.g., 2 x AAA and 2 x AA).

The batteries last for a while. They charge pretty quickly too. The only downside is that the charger itself and the batteries connect pretty loosely. It's not a secure connection, so if you hit the charger with the batteries in it, it'll pop out of place.

It was a while before I used this product. I generally keep the MP3 charged. HOWEVER...I have an off he grid camp where everything is rechargable so there are lots of "AA" rechargable batteries with adapters to "C" and "D". BUT there wasn't anything I could do to vastly extend the play time on the MP3. Well there is now! Just as the music stopped I thought, "Well, back to the CDs and cassettes". (I plug the MP3 into a boombox that I've wired several car speakers into). Then I remembered that I had bought this charger just for this application. Cheap HQRP 12 Watt (6W + 6W) Solar Panel 12W Power 12V Monocrystalline 12

These solar panels work as advertised. Test results in nominally full (Arizona) sunlight are: (panel #1) 17.80V at 0.303A, (panel 2) 17.65V at 0.301A. This is actually a little higher than the panel rating of 17.50V at 0.290A. Mechanically they are well constructed and sealed against moisture. Shipment from Osprey-Talon was very quick (same day) and the packaging was sufficient even though it was shipped in an envelope instead of a box (the panels are individually boxed and well protected).

The free "mouse pad", on the other hand, is pretty much a joke since it is only 6.75" in diameter. But it'll make a good coaster for my coffee cup, so I'm completely satisfied with this purchase.

Saw the reviews here many are just plain incorrect, very likely they did not bother to read the manual, which as the quickstart guide says 'the full version is online at jabra'.

A few examples:

Voice dialing: If your phone has this capability you can voice dial no problem: Record the voiceprint for a number (via your phones feature), preferably while using the speakerphone so its better matched, then to use it 'press' hold button for approx 1sec (as opposed to tap, which is means 'quick click") the main answer button then say name works fine, even with an old moto razr phone.

Power: Again, RTM to save power (a great feature), the speakerphone sleeps after 10 minutes: To wake up, rather than cycle the less handy power switch, simply tap the main answer button

Bright lights: There is a way to go into night mode: "Press FM and volume up button simultaneously when the speakerphone is on. The light will then turn off. You can turn the lights back on with another press."

C'mon folks, take the two minutes to read the actual manual.

As for the rest I've only had it a little while the voice quality seems fine, the FM works great when the convertible top is down (Not often right now, even in CA) and the thing works quite well so far.

Bonus: The charger comes in two pieces so that you can use the USB to micro USB cable with your computer to charge it if you want. Conversely, I can now charge my old razr with by plugging in my USB to mini USB into its lighter adapter. Handy.

I love Bluetooth but was never really satisfied with the audio quality of my Bluetooth headset when driving so I thought I would try buying a device that was specifically designed to let you take calls in a vehicle. This is a really cool product! It does all the basic stuff you would expect in terms of taking phone calls but has the added feature of an FM transmitter so you can use your car speakers instead of the smaller built-in speaker. Now incoming call volume level is never an issue. If your car radio has RDS (I forget what it stands for but if you see artist and song title when listening to a radio station then you have it) you can see the incoming phone number on your radio display. Cooler still is that it supports Bluetooth stereo so I can stream music directly from my phone (or iPod Touch) and listen to it on my car speakers. The Cruiser has convenient PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP Forward/Back buttons too. If you are streaming music and you get an incoming call, the music is automatically paused until you hang up. Last but not least, the Cruiser can be connected to two phones AT THE SAME TIME. This is very convenient since I have to carry around my work phone and personal phone all the time. No longer do I need to decide which of my phones to have connected. Nice work Jabra!

I've had the Cruiser for less than a week. So far, it's been an excellent experience. I use it paired with an iphone for telephone conversation as well as for listening to music & podcasts in the car. I have it clipped to my visor directly in front of me.

Pluses --

Voice guided pairing was a snap. I like the voice announcements in general, telling you what mode it is in, etc.

Very good sound quality and noise rejection, even in a small sports car. It's not perfect, but works at least as well as any BT headset that I've owned. The people I call never complain about my voice quality, and I'd give it about an 8/10 for incoming call sound quality.

FM transmitter works very well ... as well or better than the dedicated "beamers" I've had. I use it mostly in this mode, listening to calls & music through the car stereo speakers. Music sounds good. It's easy to tune FM frequencies to a blank spot, although you really can't do it while driving.

Minuses --

I have an iPhone, an amazing miniature, hand-held computer and basically a pretty bad phone. Probably half the blame on the iPhone belongs to AT&T and their spotty service, but that's another story. When hand-held, the iPhone works moderately well, however, the speakerphone aspect of it sucks big-time. Horrible!

I was tired of wearing a bluetooth device in my ear when driving, fearing I'd loose it, requiring a charge every three days, and concerned over unknown long-term medical side-effects from such a device.

When looking at various bluetooth ear devices at the local Apple store, one of the employees suggested I check this Jabra Cruiser device out. He said they carried it at the Apple store for about two months, then they just stopped carrying it. He told me the general feedback he got from Apple customers regarding the device was terrific great sound quality, clarity, even the ability to broadcast via your FM capacity in your auto the incoming calls as well as music from your phone device.

While you give up the portability of a bluetooth headset with this visor clip-on speakerphone, the ease of use and function I believe vastly outweighs the issue of portability. The clarity is completely there, I've been using mine for three weeks on a daily basis and have had yet to re-charge it. It's broadcast distance is perhaps a problem in that you can walk away from your vehicle, enter a store and be 100 feet away and yet it holds the connection with your phone. I have discovered that when I pull into my garage at home, I need to turn off the unit, otherwise it will seize the calls when I'm at home unless I disable the bluetooth function on my iPhone. It's now become a habit when I enter my car in the morning to turn on the Cruiser, and within seconds I hear the synthetic voice say "connected". When I arrive home, I now automatically turn it off when entering the garage, and it says, "powered off".

I am completely satisfied with this product it's a whole lot cheaper than purchasing a new vehicle with bluetooth built in...

I have used the older Jabra SP700 and returned it, and replaced it with the Jabra Cruiser and its much better, even in my old noisy car people can hear me well, I was very surprised! In my newer car, it does not fit on the thicker visor. I use it with a Blackberry 9800 and very happy with the whole product overall. I do use FM to play music from my blackberry and I like the way the music control keys operate the media player on the blackberry. With any FM product, the sound is not as clear with a cable, but the Cruiser is decent and I have no other choice since I have no other inputs to the radio. The bluetooth signal is very strong, too strong, I park outside of store and when I'm inside It will pickup, but there is an on off switch on it if you know your going to be too close to the car , switch it off. Instead of beeps when connected, you get a woman's voice, she is there with you there to help out, set your fm, tells you the number of the incoming call, and other instructions.

I am surprised how more advanced the Cruiser is over the SP700, and this is worth taking a look at. I did get it for $49 at costco ($20 off sale) and I am very happy with it so far.

I was a little skeptical about a $6 charger, but took a chance. It is a Motorola charger, with the type of fit and finish you expect from Motorola. There is a blue LED to indicate charging, and the blue color goes well with the lighting in my Acura. The mini-USB plug seems sturdy and fits my Blackberry snugly. This product has revived 3 batteries so far! The batteris would only hold 4.4 volts or so at first and then after a while on this thing they are holding 6.5V+ The only thing that is an issue is that the automatic "desulphation" button doesn't work unless the batteries have over 5.5 or so volts. To bypass this i wire a good battery in with the old one to get the charger to "see" enough voltage to go into desulphation mode, then i will disconnect the good battery and let this thing work away. So far I feel it has been a great investment.

This is the second BatteryMINDer I own, I wouldn't part with either.

The first one I purchased was the 12 volt charger. I swap between mower/boat batteries throughout the winter months. When spring arrives and its time to start mowing, I simply reinstall the batteries and they are fully charged ready to go.

I never used this 6v model (purchased as a gift) but have 3 other battery minder systems for garage use, a truck, and a trailer. I have not had a battery need replacement in years and expect my batteries will last almost forever.

These chargers also De-sulfate batteries, sulfation is the major life-shortening cause of older batteries. WILL increase the life of any battery if used consistently.

Received it and got it hooked up to my Model A battery. Apparently I had the leads reversed, as switching them made the correct light appear. After the 24-hr or so mentioned in the manual, the green light began blinking, indicating all is well.

The full test will be when I go to fire the old car up in the Spring.

I bought two of these for my family, to ensure their cell phones are usable, for security reasons, if they run out of power in the car. We charge our phones overnight so we rarely use our car chargers. All I can say about this charger is that the construction appears good and both worked when we tested them. I can't say how they would hold up over time if put to heavy use -but that is not what I was looking for when I bought them.

charger works, cord isn't very long, the actual plastic plug-in part is kind of flimsy, sometimes the phone says "unauthorized charger" or something like that but the phone still charges

The clip for putting the mount on the air vents broke after falling from the vent constantly. If you have small vents / weird designed vents I wouldn't recommend using the air vent mount. My phone also has decent weight to it, so that might have also been a factor. One of the clips for attaching it to a different mount also broke off, but there were still three left on it making it still usable. The suction cup mount seems a little more sturdy, I'll probably give an update if it breaks soon or not. Otherwise, a somewhat decent phone mount.
