this is an accessory you must have if you buy any Garmin GPS as it is not a regular item that comes in the box. The reason is you will sometimes need to charge it during the evening or else if you don't have a car but still wants to use the GPS for finding your way. It is simple, cheap but very important.

The light comes on that it is charging the GPS unit but when you unplug it, the unit has not been charged. Left it overnight twice, to find it in the morning not charged... thankfully my phone charger was compatible with the GPS unit pluggin and so I was able to charge it in that manner.
