Perfect replacement for original battery # 690071 or 691235 but the literature does not say so until you get the battery with its packaging. It fits and works on tool set # 840055 which includes drill # 691234 and other tools. I will never again buy Craftsman tools because Sears deliberately changes their batteries and chargers so that they are never backwards compatible, and you have to buy new batteries at more than the cost of the original tool set. Batteries are the weakest link on portable tools, so buy with battery replacement in mind-get them early before they are discontinued.

Make sure you order this ONLY for the exact drill model number...even if the pic looks like it will work. In addition to not working for my husband's drill, the seller's customer service was extremely poor/ non-existant.

Even it fits my drill and charger, they changed the battery pack. So there is no 3 contacts, but only two side ones. (the third towards the center battery which is on my battery packs 691034 is missing on this one).

This means that my battery charger 690507 can not (will not) charge the battery pack.

That is it.

If you are more electronics savvy, i looked inside the battery what was actually changed. There is just totaly same inside (even exactly the same NICD batteries) with one exception from minus pole there is a connection to the third above mentioned pole via some piece of small unidentified electronic device (condensator or resistor probably). So i took one from my expired battery pack and made it in about 15 minutes with my solder. It works now. I guess manufacturer wants you to buy new charger or the whole thing..... They have to eat i guess.

The referenced (and advertised) item is NOT the item that was shipped. Without notice of backorder status or requested permission from AUTO BARN to ship alternative item number, a different item #691240 was sent. After inquiry with the shipper, they admitted that the sent item was a replacement for the other 'back-ordered' item. Research on the shipped item revealed that there was a factory recall for the shipped item 691240 due to 'possible fire hazard'. Via AUTO BARN, I requested a statement from the mfg.'r that the shipped item was equivolent to that ordered and that there was no fire hazard either. The shipper AUTO BARN has refused to respond or acknowledge my concerns. I have requested a refund or replacement for the correct ordered item. So far, no response. Reference AUTO BARN Order # 53345.

I have 2 of these batteries. They both lose all their charge after one day. But model # 840639 19.2V UniSource(tm) 3-5 Hour Battery & Charger Kit is a battery [i have 2 of these also] which holds a charge for over 2 weeks! But i can not now find the 840639 for sale on the internet.
