The Garmin 2700 series of GPS navigation units are not powered by the mini-USB port on the back of the receiver. These units require a separate proprietary power cord and owners of the older Streetpilot units should not buy this unit.

I'm not sure that this is the correct in house charger for the Garmin STreetpilot 550 GPS. The screen shows that the GPS thinks it is hooked up to the computer and after an hour it doesn't look like it charged any and the GPS had difficulty changing back to a regular screen, wanted to stay on the screen showing it was hooked up to computer. The box the charger came in showed it is a cellphone charger. It does fit correctly into the USB slot on the GPS but I'm not going to use it anymore til I make sure it is correct. I hope I haven't damaged my GPS.

Works great for a low end gps. Garmin is very reliable! Recommend it for others as it saves you time and frustration.
