2 Ton Electric Scissor Jack 12v w/ Impact Wrench 12v - Flat Tire Changing Kit, On-Line Video

I drive an average of 150 miles locally each day for work making deliveries. It is important to be timely and to keep moving. I purchased the Spare Kit after being stranded one day at work on a gravel/dirt back road with a flat. The scissor jack that came with my work car would not work on loose dirt, the base would not stay grounded enough to raise the car. This experience cost me a call to a tow company to help change the tire. Of course, that took 2 hours to resolve. I have had two additional flats since purchasing the Spare Kit and have been able to change the flat easily and quickly without a fuss or mess. As an added bonus, I've had several opportunities to help other stranded motorist with flat tires. They are always amazed at how fast and easy the Spare Kit works! I love this Kit!

They say the average person will have at least 3 flat tires in their life. Well I must be above average (at least my family thinks so) because I have had the pleasure of about 10. I do put a lot of miles on my car running my communications business and having The Spare Kit for the last 5 has been a blessing. The first 5 led to bleeding knuckles and or a sore arm cranking the car up with the manual jack and then fighting to get the lug nuts off. With the spare kit those 2 things are so much easier and quicker. I have even taught my son and daughter how to change a tire. She is 17 and he is 13. This is a must have and I treat it like term life insurance. I hope I wont need it but so glad I have it when needed.

Being a girl, cars and all of their accessories have never been something that I am comfortable with or really care to learn much about. My dad insisted that I buy this product for any future emergencies I might encounter because of how easy and user friendly it is. Honestly, I never thought that I would be able to change a tire by myself, but since buying this product I have been in that situation and was able to do so successfully. I got a flat tire on the side of the highway and my dad thankfully had suggested me to buy The Spare Kit, so I had it in my car. I was able to change my tire no problem, and avoid all of the towing fees and expenses, which saved me tons of money. I have recommended this product to all of my girl friends, and their experiences with The Spare Kit have been similar to mine. I highly recommend this product!

Optima Batteries 8071-167-FFP D51 YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery Review

Optima Batteries 8071-167 D51 YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery

I installed this battery in my 2005 Toyota Prius with the help of the adapter kit from E-learnaid after my OEM battery died. Aside from costing $75 less than the dealer battery it has a higher capacity and can handle the occasional deep discharge when I 'forget' to turn off one of the interior lights.

The battery was well packaged in a heavy cardboard box and arrived within a few days of my order. It took about 1 hour to replace as there are several components in the way that had to be removed. I would recommend this battery to anyone who needs to replace their stock Prius battery.

This review isn't so much about the battery but more about the ease of ordering, the price and the quickness in delivery. I found my Honda S2000 with a failing factory battery. I decided to go with the optima if I could find it at a good price. Locally the prices were all higher than ordering from Amazon.com. It also qualified for free shipping and no tax to deal with. All in all a good deal to have a car battery delivered to my door.Optima Batteries 8071-167 D51 YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery

The order arrived very quickly and the fit was perfect for my 05 Prius. My original battery was still working, but it was 5 years old and I didn't want it go out on me. I researched the best replacement battery and found this one. These batteries are ideal for cars equipped with the smartkey feature. Replacement was reasonable with a few metric hand tools. I had to order a battery cable kit($15.00) to refit the Optima battery, the post on the factory are much smaller. I was very satisfied with the order and delivery process.

used it to replace the battery in my 2001 toyota prius, works great and has much greater cap. than the stock battery did.

Required different adapters for the battery terminals hard to find.

I purchased the Optima 8071-167 D51 Yellow Top battery from Amazon.com LLC for my daughter's 2002 Honda Civic. I installed it in the parking lot where she works. After mounting the battery in the car under the hold down strap I removed the plastic caps on the terminals to install the cables. I removed the negative terminal cap after connecting the positive cable and that is when I discovered the battery was not new. The negative terminal post had several gouges and marks and was no longer full diameter. I just barely was able to tighten the cable clamp enough to secure the ground cable to the post. The post was clean and covered with a tear off plastic cap, in fact the entire battery was clean and otherwise looked new. By the time I discovered the issue I had removed the old battery and installed the new. It just wasn't worth the hassle to uninstall the Optima, re-install the old battery and try and ship the Optima back to Amazon. So beware these batteries are not new. At best they are reconditioned batteries. At worst they are returns that have been cleaned up and repackaged. (I wonder if someone had tried to reduce the terminal diameter to install it in a Prius before giving up and returning the battery). Shame on you Amazon for advertising these as new!

This is a great product. It is perfect in (almost) every way. Smallest 150 watt inverter around. Very quiet. Works both in the car and on a plane. Has both a 3-prong AC and USB powerpoints. It shines particularly well verses the 'big-black' inverters for traveling for 3 reasons. 1) Again, it is so quiet that more often than not you can't even hear it; 2) when you re-start the ignition on your car it properly resets itself and keeps providing power (unlike the 'big-black' units which are universally dumb and unpower themselves); 3) if your car's battery voltage drops (because it is cold...older battery...or you are not running the engine) this unit tends to keep working whereas most others sense the voltage drop and quit working. The only minor quirk with it is that the silver-tipped spring that you insert into the lighter socket is overly sprung and in some cars you need to occasionally re-push it into the lighter. An annoyance but not a deal breaker. Overall I cannot recommend this enough. The only other unit that comes close is the Xantrex 175 watt unit (#813-0291). It has all of the above qualities except that the airline portion of the adapter would not seperate correctly from the cigarette portion of its cord. This resulted in the unit's tip being slightly loose at the plastic seem of the cigarette portion of the adapter.

Get this adapter for your laptop! I tried two other adapters and they failed to support the load on my Sony Vaio Z series laptop adapter. Plus it comes with a nice little case and has the airline adapter. There are two fuses one in the tip and one in the adapter to help keep things safe. Highly Recommended!

I spent an absurd amount of time comparing the different inverters on Amazon and finally decided on this one. I'm glad I did, and I am a very persnickety designer. Unlike some of the other ones I was looking at, this one has a clean, slim design. Most inverters must be triple or quadruple the size and weight, if not more! This one is light and tiny, about half the size of a small paperback book, if even that. The plastic it is made out of is the high quality impact resistant stuff, not the fragile junk I was half expecting. The cord is detachable and is just right to keep the inverter out of the way of things like your shifter, but not too long that it's messy. The product comes with this nice little case for the inverter and cord which is pretty handy, perfect for storing it in the glove box. I just got it but have tested it out and it was charging my laptop. I recommend going with this one, you will be happy.

Honest reviews on Cobra CPI-150 Micro Port 150 Watt Power Inverter (Black)

I read a lot of these reviews and couldn't find definitive answers. So I bought the Cobra, and now I have some very specific notes I hope will help you judge whether this unit will work for you.

I used the Cobra CPI-150 in an American Airlines 737 plane.

The DC plug was the standard "car lighter" size, and the Cobra comes with an adapter so you can plug into that. If your plane has that miniport DC power, the Cobra will fit that too. (I didn't find its ability to fit in either port detailed in the product description, but it's a really nice bonus.)

When we were stationary and then taxiing on the runway, it charged my iPhone 4s via the USB port no problem, no interruption. I mention this because some folks had complained they didn't have power on the ground but did so once the plane was in mid flight.)

Then I plugged in an Apple MagSafe 85 watt power adapter with a 3 prong extension to charge up a 2007 17" MacBook Pro. It charged fine for a quick minute, then the Cobra began to reset, light turning from red to green over and over, first sending power to the computer, then nothing, then sending power, then nothing. I thought the problem was that the plane was still taxiing and under-powering the Cobra.

However, mid-flight, I was having the same resetting issues with the Cobra and the 85w Apple power adapter.

I borrowed a 60 watt Apple MagSafe power adapter, and that seemed to solve all the problems. In fact, I'm typing this review on my 17" MacBook Pro that is charging steadily with the Cobra and the 60 watt MagSafe adapter.

So, in conclusion, though the Cobra is labeled 150 watts, it doesn't even sustain 85 watts for longer than a few seconds. Booooo! Shame on you, Cobra. But 60 watts? Sure, no problem. And charging an iPhone via USB, heck yes, it can do that.

Happy, fully-charged journeys to you...

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This little gadget is pretty straight-forward. Not a lot to say about it except that it looks sharp (love the green!) and works great. The only down-side to this little gizmo is that it won't charge any larger devices, like a tablet. But it works great with my Iphone and the compact size is a very nice feature.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We got this belkin charger to have an extra adapter for my son's kindle while we were traveling. I worked just as well as our other 2 adapters of different brands that were cheaper. It is much smaller than the others we own so this one was nice to fit into her backseat outlet and not have him kick it out all the time. While driving (14 hr trip) I charged multiple things on it and also on our other adapters and found that it wasn't really any better than what we have except for the low profile. It charges and no issues with it, but you can find something cheaper that works just as well. I gave it 4 stars because it works as it should and we have no issues with it at all if you want to spend almost $20 on an adapter.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Well made and looks good. The green is a nice touch. Belkin always makes great devices. Pocket size for transport and small enough to stay out of the way if you have awkwardly place cup holders. Stays put in the accessories plug well. Made to last.

Honest reviews on Belkin Car Charger 1 AMP / 5 Watts - White

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The car charger works and will charge your iphone or other smart phone. This is not powerful enough to charge an ipad or tablet. Honestly, for less money you can buy the Belkin Car Charger 2.1 AMP/10 Watts Black or a 2 port model for a few dollars more like this one Belkin F8J071bt04-BLK Belkin 2-Port Car Charger with Lightning to USB Cable 2.1 AMP for iPhone 5, iPod touch, iPod nano, iPad and iPad mini Car Charger Retail Packaging Black. Be aware, this does not come with any cords so you will have to buy them if you don't have extras. I keep it in my car when I need to charge an extra device. No complaints and I like the Belkin brand, just think that you can get more for your money.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I love my iPhone and am always on the lookout for new gizmos and gadgets that help me keep my device working well. Whenever I go on road trips, it's nice to be able to plug in the Belkin Car Charger into the lighter so I can charge my iPhone with the USB port. It's sharp-looking and highly effective and doing what it's supposed to do. The only suggestion I'd give is to provide multiple USB ports so that both my wife and I can charge our devices simultaneously, but this certainly does the trick.

Cheap Garmin nuvi 765/765T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin nuvi 765/765T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

This Nuvi does several things very well, and I've yet to discover any serious shortcomings. My thoughts:

Navigation: Excellent, as is typical with Garmin units. On a couple of occasions the voice (right now I'm using Australian Karen) told me my destination was on the wrong side of the street.

Map: The map is clear, the refresh rate is fast, and all of the right information is provided on-screen, including details for upcoming turns and junctions, speed limit, and traffic alerts. It's annoying that I can't choose to switch the display of my current speed to some other piece of info. I already have a speedometer. The 3D buildings feature seems pretty gimmicky, and is implemented sporadically, even in downtown Boston. When there is coverage, most buildings are monochromatic blocks, and not the photo-realistic buildings seen in screenshots.

Lane Assist: This feature has been spot-on so far. It's nice driving in a new area and not getting flustered about being in the wrong lane. I have yet to see the full-screen 3D Lane Assist Junction View shown in the many 765t screenshots -however, I've done very little highway driving, and I believe this screen requires that the user press the top-left (upcoming turn icon).

>>>>>UPDATE: After some highway driving, it turns out that the full-screen 3D Lane Assist Junction View shows up automatically before potentially tricky highway junctions. Very nice.

Traffic: As far as I know, I have not been re-routed because of traffic. However, it's very easy to bring up a list of major roads and their current traffic conditions, and to avoid them at will. The pop-up advertising associated with the "free" traffic is pretty subtle, and never distracting.

Bluetooth: I'm impressed with this feature so far. It mated with my phone (old Motorola RAZR V3) easily, importing all of my contacts in the process. The ability to instantly dial any point of interest (e.g., to check on store hours) is brilliant. The volume from the speaker is reasonably loud. I also tried sending the audio to my car stereo using an audio cable, and the output seemed a bit low (I had to turn my car stereo way up). I have not yet tried sending the audio to my car stereo using the FM transmitter. I called my voicemail, and the built-in microphone picks up my voice reasonably well with the engine running. I'm not sure how well it would work with highway speeds. I'm told that the cheap Garmin microphone (which plugs into the cradle, not the unit) improves voice quality.

>>>>>UPDATE: This is true -the microphone is an improvement, though it adds yet another long cord to your long cord collection. Also, I've tried the FM transmitter. It works, albeit with a certain amount of static. I imagine this feature would intolerable if you are driving a long way.

Other features: I haven't used the SD card slot for anything. I haven't tried the photo viewer or the mp3 player, and I probably won't.

Build Quality: Seems solid. The unit has a certain heft to it, and it's covered in a soft, rubbery coating. I've also dropped it already (because I'm an idiot) -still working beautifully.

Suggested improvements: Garmin doesn't make it easy to look up the actual coordinates (latitude and longitude) for favorites or points of interest. This information should be available at the press of a button.

Needless to say, I'm pleased with my purchase. The 756t is not cheap right now, and if you can live without the new features, you might be better off with an older unit. That said, if you're looking for a gps device with all of the latest features and compatibility, this seems to be a solid pick.

I'll try to make this a unique review by comparing the pros and cons of FOUR different Garmin units I've tried: c330, 265t, 765t, and the 885t. There are few reviews that offer face-off comparisons between models which can assist in making a purchasing choice. I'll share some highlights for each model, beginning with the one I've owned for over three years. Bottom line: If you want to go cheap, the c330 still works fine with new maps loaded I literally drove all over the country and rarely had any problems. If you are looking for a new model, get the 265t and you won't be disappointed. Don't buy the 765t. Consider the 885t but be ready to return if the volume output is too low.

Note with all models I had the latest firmware updates and maps at time of writing the review.

>> Streetpilot C330. Owned it over 3 years. It is an older model, and not flat like all new models today. Instead of flat, it has something of a triangular shape, and the mount has takes up more space. It is harder to pack in bag or suitcase because of this, and is the primary reason I decided to upgrade. To its credit, it is built more sturdily than any of the new models. I'm sure it could survive multiple falls. The screen is smaller, but plenty bright and easy enough to read when the sunlight falls on it. The touchscreen is sensitive and I never had much complaint with it. It is has an important feature missing from all new models a wheel volume control on the side. All new models make you hit an icon on the screen to adjust the volume, and then you must touch again to change the volume in increments, and touch one more time to return to the map. The volume is plenty loud on the c330, which is not always the case with newer models. The icons on the map are simpler. For instance, the vehicle is a blue triangle rather than a car. The maps are not as detailed, but sufficiently so. There are no spoken street names, but the prompts are good enough to get you where you want. You can still purchase map updates that will load on the unit, although the onboard memory can only support a region of the US at a time. The GPS receiver is fine most of the time, but failed me in Chicago with all the tall buildings, and I sometimes had to wait for service when leaving a rental car garage. Overall, it is a very good unit and Garmin would do well with future models to bring back the side volume control, and the tank-like build quality.

>> 265t. Owned it about two weeks so far. This is the most recent model I've purchased, and I am impressed. I will lead with a weakness, however. I bought a refurbished model on Amazon. It saved me about $40 over a new model, but I had to contact Garmin multiple times to get the free map update. It had been previously registered and the free map update was not available. Garmin had to reset the registration. I wrote them and sent a copy of my purchase receipt, and they reset the registration. Other than this, I would not have realized it is refurbished just by looking at it. The operation is also fine.

I want to emphasize something you really don't need a widescreen model (e.g, 265wt). Trust me on this. The only thing afforded by widescreen is the QUERTY-style keyboard. A few people might miss it, but I don't even though I'm a daily user of keyboards. The widescreen gives you more visible map coverage on the left and right, but it is not needed for navigating. Everything you need to see is in plain view on the squarish screen of the 265t. To best of my knowledge, all of the other functions are the same. The 265t is also smaller and easier to stow away. Save yourself the extra dough and get the 265t over the 265wt.

The 265 shares the most important features as the more expensive 700 and 800 series. In fact, I only miss a couple of things from these other models. For instance, the 800 series can be controlled by speaking commands very nice. The 700 series can display time remaining to destination, or distance to destination. Handy! I understand there are more flexible routing options with the 700 and 800, but I never use those so can't comment. Gpsmagazine.com claims the 700 and 800 have stronger GPS receivers, but I noticed I can get a signal from inside of my home with the 265, so I am hoping that it works just as well as the 700/800 in cities with big building all around. The 265 lacks 3D buildings, lane assist, and junction view. Lane assist is helpful, but the other two only show up once in a while depending on your location. It lacks a built-in MP3 player, but I don't think I miss that either (more on my experience with this below). The 265 has smooth scrolling of the map like the 765, which the 885 lacks. It also has free traffic service, but so far I haven't benefitted from this (more below). One thing better about the 265 is the volume. It is just as loud as the c330, louder than the 765t, and MUCH louder than the 885. Using the bluetooth, I can make a phone call and hear and be heard without any problems. Overall, I think the 265 would be a far better bargain for most people saving $100-$250 over the high end models but sill including great features.

>> 765t. Used it for a couple of months then returned. I won't repeat what I said above. Actually, I was really disappointed with this model for a couple of reasons. The traffic feature did not work at all for me. I drove over 500 miles to DC, and then back, and it never helped me once. I hit construction. No warning. I hit accident backups. No warnings. I got stuck in horrible downtown DC traffic, and was told I would be delayed 3 minutes, which stretched into 2 hours! Here is what I found unforgiveable, though. It sometimes told me to turn in one direction, then correct itself after I made the turn to get me going the other way. At first I thought it was me, but no, the darn thing actually got the turn direction wrong about 5% of the time! This is totally inexcusable, especially when you are entering or leaving a highway. If you are told to go onto an onramp, and then it changes its mind, you could spend another 5-10 minutes getting turned around again. I don't know why this unit had this problem. It was the one reason I had to return it. I recommend purchases from Sam's Club or Costco, which allow you to return items months later (hold onto that receipt!).

The bluetooth worked for my phone, and the volume was good enough to make calls, although callers told me I was hard to hear sometimes. I did not try the MP3 player to see whether the volume was sufficient. The FM transmitter is a joke the signal is super weak and unuseable. Some reviews say to get an external FM transmitter to compensate, but that means spending more money and seems silly.

On the plus side, I used the 3D building view to help me find the Lincoln Memorial on foot in DC, but that was only the one time it helped me. The junction assist (photo realism for highway interchanges) is nice, but you will only see it in some cities.

>> 885t. Used it for 3 weeks then returned. I'll lead with the one problem I had with my unit that caused me to return it. The volume was too low. I could hear the turn prompts well enough. But it was not nearly loud enough when driving at highway speeds for phone calls or the MP3 playback. When making calls, I could not hear the caller very well, and could not be heard clearly. When using the MP3 player, I really strained to hear an audiobook, and using earbuds did not help any. It could have been a problem with my particular unit. I can't say. I may purchase another unit to see if the volume is better. Like the 765, the FM transmitter is unuseable.

However, I really liked controlling the unit through speech commands. It works very well, and is safer to do than taking your hands off the wheel to use the touch screen. You may to strap a button onto your steering wheel that is used to engage the speach recognition. It takes getting used to having it there when turning the wheel and feeling it under your grip sometimes. Even so, if they put this feature on all of their other units it would be AWESOME. Please, Garmin, keep this feature for the future! I also liked the MSN Direct service. The traffic service actually worked for me, much better than on the 765t. You can see weather forcasts and even look at a local weather radar. This can be helpful if you are driving a long ways and concerned about heading into a storm. You also can monitor stock prices, get fuel prices for nearby gas stations, and movie times. I found however movie times were not displayed for second run (discount) theaters in our area.

Lane assist and junction view worked as well as the 765t. I did not have problems with the unit telling me to go the wrong way, like I did with the 765t. As I said above, I might buy another 885t to see if the volume issue was specific to the first unit and not the model.

Best Deals for Garmin nuvi 765/765T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

I received my 765T a few days ago and love it so far. After reading some up and down reviews, I wasn't certain what to expect. I am pleasantly surprised.

To start, the unit's volume is plenty loud, even at highway speeds. The screen is readable at all times, and automatically changes to a darkened "night mode" at night very easy on the eyes. You can force it to day or night mode, if desired.

The map's movement and fluidity is tremendous. It has a very natural looking motion at all times. Garmin claims the unit updates at 10fps, and it seems to be about that. I am still deciding if I prefer 3D or 2D mode yet, but both are great. I tested routing on a few trips and the navigation worked perfectly. Directions were given in plenty of time, and repeated at appropriate intervals. When just driving (not navigating) the green bar at the top displays your current road, and even displays the next exit when driving (not navigating) on major highways. This was unexpected for me and really cool! The voice on the unit is clear.

The overall feel of the software is great. The menus move quickly and seem logically laid out. You can add categories to your favorites to better organize them. This helped a lot, since favorites are sorted by default via distance from your current location. Creating folders for your favorites works very well. You can even add a picture (and phone #) to your favorites. Very nice!

As for Bluetooth: I paired the 765 with my Blackberry Storm easily, and everything works flawlessly. My phone's contacts transferred immediately, and I can call Points of Interest and people from my contacts easily, with 1 touch. I do not have any of the bluetooth issues described in other places. No issues at all. So I'm either lucky or maybe there is some inconsistency in the hardware. More likely, different combinations of cell phones and GPS units lead to varying results. IMPORTANT: I did update the unit to it's latest firmware, which many say have helped their bluetooth connections.

I haven't been to an area with a traffic reception signal yet, so I can't comment on the traffic function.

All the other niceties work well for me also: The picture viewer, MP3 player, etc all work as advertised. I even put 1 of my pics as the startup image.

In conclusion, I am very pleased with the product so far. This is a great product that I would highly recommend.

Honest reviews on Garmin nuvi 765/765T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

I purchased the Nuvi 780 on Oct 1 because the 765t wasn't available at my local big box yet. Two weeks later (and after a firmware upgrade), my 780 developed a speech impediment: "Turn left at highway . . . . . 405, then turn l . . . eft." It sounded like she had to pause to either think about where she was, or to hold a fist in front of her mouth for a silent burp or something. That unit went back and by that time the 765t was out. A swap plus $100 later, I had the new unit. Pros over the 780: much faster screen redraws, faster sat acquisition, more POIs, slight user interface tweaks (all for the better IMO) and generally a tighter feel. Cons: ad supported traffic (doesn't bother me, but it might others) and no included MSN Direct. However, after using the service for 2 weeks, I would gladly trade it for faster screen redraws and the lane assist feature. Movie times and gas prices are nice, but until I can actually make my movie and dinner reservations over the GPS, I'll forgo it. The bluetooth functionality gives me the direct-to-POI dial feature, which is so utterly cool. I just moved to the Seattle area and would be so utterly lost without this gadget. It takes the stress out of driving, and that alone is worth the hefty price.

After waiting a long time to buy a GPS and reading many, many reviews while watching the prices go up and down, I finally pulled the trigger on a Nuvi 765T on Thanksgiving morning when I saw the price drop to $349.00 on Amazon with free shipping. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price and couldn't buy it fast enough. Especially since at the time, the lowest price I had seen was around $460. Although it had the features I wanted, I had some reservations about getting the 765T because of several reviews that listed problems with the screen, speaker volume, bluetooth, missing features from the 760, etc. So after putting it though its paces for a few weeks I would like to share my observations with this unit. First off I have to say I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. In the past I had used the Nuvi 350, and several different TomTom's as well as rental car units, and this unit blows them away. The first thing I did was to up update the firmware to v.2.50 and had no problems in doing so.

Screen: The screen on the unit I received is very bright and clear. The colors look great and it is just as bright as the Nuvi 350 I had used. The sensitivity on this screen is fine and there is no problem with the calibration for buttons, etc.

Sound Quality: The sound from the speaker is very good on this unit. Could it be louder? Sure. But in normal driving with the radio at regular listening volume and /or the windows open, I have no trouble hearing it at all when set to 100%. When driving without the radio, I actually turn it down to 80% as it is too much. The navigation voice (have tried several and like Australian Karen) at 100% is clean with no distortion. From some of the reviews I had read, I was expecting to have to hold it up to my ear to hear it, but it really is fine.

Bluetooth: This was one of the things I was worried about not working, but surprisingly the Nuvi immediately paired with both my, and my wife's older Sanyo Katana phones. It also shows the phone books and the contact names for both phones. In making calls over the Nuvi, the people I have called state that the voice quality is fine and there is no echo or distortion. Although I don't use my cell phone a lot, when I do, its great not having to hold the phone and drive at the same time. Very happy with this feature.

Traffic: I was really surprised on how accurate the traffic feature on this unit has been so far, as I wasn't really expecting much. Perhaps the coverage is better in the Chicagoland area then other areas, but it has accurately shown where there were slow downs and congestion ahead on I-90/94, I-57 and I-355. The "ads" for the free traffic pop up from time to time, but I rarely notice them and they certainly are not in the way or distracting at all.

Routing: So far, with one exception, the routing has been really spot-on. The navigation has brought us to our unknown destination with no problems, and takes the routs I would normally take for the places I am familiar with. It even knew that our home street is divided by a drainage ditch and instructed me to go past our house and make the correct two left turns to get into our driveway when arriving on the opposite side of the street. This really surprised me! It did one strange thing though, when driving home from Chicago going south down the Dan Ryan expressway, I need to eventually merge west onto I-57 south, and for some reason, the Nuvi kept telling me to get on the Indiana toll road and go east, which would have taken me miles way out of my way. I should have brought up the turn list to see where it was going to take me, but I was in heavy traffic with bad weather and needed to keep my eyes on the road. Once I passed the exit for the Indiana toll road it "recalculated" and took me home perfectly. The only thing I could think of was that I had "Avoid Traffic" enabled and there was some heavy traffic on I-57 ahead which it may have been trying to avoid, but I'm not sure. I will turn off the "Avoid Traffic" feature and try it again the next time I travel that way.

Other Features: I love the Lane Assist, and the Junction View has come up many times in the Chicago area which is a big help. I have not tried the FM transmitter yet which a lot of people complain about not working well. The picture viewer is nice and I have loaded some pictures on it and taken it to friends houses and used it to show them vacation pictures. Since my car radio plays MP3's I don't have much use for the MP3 player as of yet but will try it out in the future. I loaded several POIs for various places and they work great too; giving both audio and visual prompts within set distances of the POIs.

I could go on and on, but those are the main things I wanted to share. I had read about some early complaints with this unit, especially with the pre v2.50 update, so perhaps I just go lucky with this unit, but so far I could not be happier with it!

This truly is an amazing stand. My iPhone 4 fit in it perfectly...too perfectly. The phone will NOT fit with any kind of case on. So, if you don't want or need a case, this is the perfect stand for you. If you do, better look elsewhere. The packaging is great. Product was super easy to assemble and performed just as promised. The stand feels solid and performs solidly. Delivery was prompt. Really couldn't ask for more...except end caps that will fit a phone with a case.

This stand is perfect for the IPhone 4. It is good quality but because it does not accomodate the Mophie Jack cover on my phone of which I asked before purchasing I am somewhat disapointed. It would be nice if it was adjustable to accomodate the phone covers.

The five stars are for the Titan iPhone 4 stand by Maclove.

This iPhone stand was so awesome that I ordered another one for my desk at work.

However, my second order for this item was fulfilled by NTKsolution who sent me a cheap Chinese knockoff in crummy packaging instead of the Titan iPhone 4 stand from Maclove.

I have reported NTKsolution to Amazon customer service.

Honest reviews on Titan iPhone 4 Stand - Desktop Multi-View 360 Degree Rotation

Absolutely THE best stand for the money, hands down! Excellent simple, elegant, sturdy and strong design. Like the majority of the apple products, it not only looks god, it functions beautifully as well. I bought a second one to keep at work and Everyone is asking where I bought it! One suggestion...get the extension cable to go with the stand since the factory cables are rather short. Don't even look at another stand, GET THIS! You can thank me later.

I am really digging this iPhone stand. It looks very sleek and apple-esquue. I leave this on my desk at work and put my phone in it each day and plug in the cable from my computer to keep it charged. It is very sturdy and has grips on the bottom so I am able to text or surf the web without removing it from the stand. I don't watch movies or use face time a ton, but it is very adjustable and would work great for either. In short looks nice. high quality. highly recommended.

I bought this for my Samsung Galaxy Tab (7 inch). Don't buy a $50 GPS mount when you can get this one for a fraction of the cost. The construction is surprisingly sturdy, and it fits my 7-inch Galaxy Tab nicely. It comes with some extra pieces that might let you mount a smart phone, but I haven't actually tried it.

One small thing to note: At first it will look like a 7-inch tablet doesn't quite fit. The instructions were a little vague, but with a little imagination I figured out that the bottom two prongs are attached to a spring-loaded, sliding portion of the main piece. The instructions make it look like you need to bend it back don't do it. Just hold on to it firmly, and press straight down on the bottom two prongs and you should be good to go.

Overall, if you're looking for decent GPS mount to fit a variety of small mobile devices, this is definitely a good pick. Highly recommended.

I bought this dashboard/windshield mount and wasn't quite sure what to expect. I didn't know if it would hold my tablet or if I'd have to worry about it falling out. This is a great mount! I attached mine to the dashboard and it's very sturdy and holds my Samsung Galaxy Tablet very nicely. It's a sturdily built mount and is strong enough to hold the tablet and take the bumps and jumps of the road. For the price, this was a very good deal.

We have been using GPS units for a long time and went through a large number of units and even larger number of mounts. Arkon window mount is one of the best mounts we tried.

I am attaching a collage of three photos under customers photos which I will be referencing in this review.

Here are the features I look for in a good windshield mount and how Arkon mount measures up

1) Good suction, quick and easy to mount, stays on, does not jiggle. Arkon mount is better than most. We have been using it for a number of weeks. It has not fallen down even in rough terrain. This is a low vibration mount it generates almost no jiggle of the unit.

2) Good positioning of grippers that hold the device. This is especially important when using a phone or tablet (rather than a dedicated GPS device) as those units have volume and on/off buttons on the sides. Arkon mount does very well in this department. We did not have to do any fussing, it just worked.

3) Flexibility in holding multiple devices. Arkon comes with with 4 short and 2 long grippers. The long grippers worked perfectly for 7" Nexus tablet (see photo #1) and the short grippers worked well for Samsung Galaxy Nexus cell phone.

I also own 7.7 Samsung Galaxy tablet, which is slightly wider that the Nexus 7 tablet. My Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tablet did not fit into the mount (see photo #2). Photo #3 has two tablets side by side, where you can see the difference in width between the two units.

A note on price: During the last year the price on this mount fluctuated between $22 and $11. I found a nice tool that allows me to see price history of Amazon items. If you search on Amazon price history and select the one with the word 'camel' you will see the tool I find very useful in my shopping. You can see the history of products and send you an email when the price reaches the level you are interested in.

Overall, this is a very good mount and we are very pleased with it.

Honest reviews on Arkon SM517 Windshield Mount for iPad mini and 7-Inch Tablets

I've got a rooted Nook Color which I use via TetherGPS as both a driving navigator (Google Maps app) and a airplane cockpit moving map display (Naviator app).

The Nook Color fits very tightly in the mount, to the point where it's a little difficult to remove. This is actually a good thing, since if you want to mount it in portrait mode the only thing keeping it in place is the mount's tight grip. I've driven and flown with it and have not felt the least concerned that the mount will let my baby fall.

I've scoured the web for mounts and while, as of this writing, it's the only option for the Nook, it's a very good option. I recommend it.

Pros:

Inexpensive.

Works with iPad mini and iPhone 5 without having to adjust the brackets into different modes.

Spring loaded brackets.

Works with iPad mini with Smart Cover.

Works with iPhone 5 with bumper (and I would guess just about any case).

Comes with round adhesive plate so you can stick that on an non-perfectly flat surface.

Adjusts/tilts in all directions.

Rotates into vertical and landscape and holds device in both top orientations.

Firmly holds devices.

Cons:

Suction cup seems pretty strong, and I haven't had a problem with it yet (still new), but I'd prefer a stronger screw-down-suction like the Satechi CR-3600 smartphone mount.

Requires two hands to insert or remove device again using the Satechi CR-3600 smartphone mount as a comparison, it would be nice if the spring loaded clamps had a button that unsprung them so you could insert/remove the device with one hand. This is a very minor issue that I'm really reaching for here so I can increase the number of con items.

Overall, this thing is too inexpensive for the value you get out of it. It sucks that great products like this are sold for less than products that clearly weren't as well thought out. The could easily charge way more for this and it would still be worth it.

First, let me make a clear distinction between Amazon and Generac. I purchased this item on 9/15/10. Amazon could not have done better both before and after the sale. Exceptional service. Generac, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. I have not had an opportunity to use the generator yet. I won't have the necessary electrical work done for another week. But I assume that the generator will deliver as promised because I'm certain other reviewers would have said something by now. If it doesn't, I'll add to this review.

My generator was DOA. It would not turn over with the electric start in spite of charging the battery for two days. Also, it would not even "pop" with the manual starter. Four of us tried. And this is where the problem really begins. Generac's warranty policy states that portable generators must be returned to a factory authorized service center under all circumstances. In my opinion, having wheels doesn't make it portable for warranty purposes. Somehow, getting a 255 pound generator in the back of my 4 door sedan, and driving it 25 miles to the closest service center after paying over $1,200 for something that never even started leaves much to be desired. I spoke to two levels of customer service at Generac, and got the same story from both. Because of the hazardous materials in the generator (oil and gas), it can't just be returned. So you need to deal with Generac and their warranty policy. I could have someone from a authorized service center come out to work on it. But, it will cost me $100 right off the bat because Generac will not pay to have anyone come out. I don't think I should have to do this on brand-new merchandise.

I think another reviewer also found this out the hard way. So before you buy anything from Generac, just be aware of what you may need to go through if the item is defective within the waranty period. If you're one of those people who regularly haul things around in a pick-up truck or with a trailer, fine. If not, think twice.

Purchased this after I did a lot of research. Bought it because it was made in the USA. Now I know why we are such deep trouble . It was dead on arrival. Would not start even when pulled. I recharged the battery and tried the next day.. Nothing . Took apart the cover and tested all connections to see if there was any juice. Got a pair of jumper cables and jumped the battery . It sparked but nothing else. Took a screw driver and crossed the starter cell. Started up. Bad starter controller. Called customer service and after waiting for 25 minutes , explained the problem, explained I am a handicapped Senior and had no way of getting the machine to a dealer which was 75 miles away. Asked her to send me the part and I could replace it with no problem. Out of the question. Told me to go to a lawn mower shop and buy a part. The choke cable is to short so when the unit is running , it rattles the choke cable on and chokes out the generator. Sorry I got involved with this company. Amazon said it is not returnable and I have only had it 2 day. So much for Made in the USA a real sorry unit with no quality control. They should change the Corp name to Gener=crap Sequel Genracrap vs Irene. Had problems with gas in oil, bad shut off value, after that was fixed and had to use manual choke as cable was bad, it did the job but what a pain in the butt

Best Deals for Generac 5747 XG8000E 8,000 Watt 410cc OHVI Gas Powered Portable

This generator is a truly excellent standby power source. We bought it a couple of months before the Northwest experienced a snow/ice emergency that caused us to lose power for a week. This generator ran continuously for the entire outage without a single issue. This model is worth the higher cost than less sturdy models.

Pros:

Reliable! Worked without any drama for the entire week.

Easy to start: The electric start took a couple of tries, but the battery had plenty of power and once started, the generator kept on going.

Very good fuel economy: Running with a refrigerator, two freezors, some lights, and satellite TV setup, we averaged 10 gallons consumption per day. Higher loads will increase fuel consumption, but we were delighted at the fuel sipping.

Great power splitting cord. The generator comes with a cord that connects to the 30 amp twist lock connector on the generator. It is about 15 feet long. At the other end there are four 110 v. outlets, each with its own circuit breaker. This is truly handy.

Cons:

The battery charger is a little plug-in unit you need to manually attach to the generator. It can not always be connected or the battery will be damaged. A generator this expensive should self-charge when running and regulate the charge level internally. We plugged the charger into the generator for 24 hours, once a month (after testing the generator) to keep the battery charged. When the power failed, we plugged the charger into one on of the AC outlets on the generator and charged for 24 hours. Not convenient but certainly doable.

Fuel turn-on, turn-off control. There is a control on the front that allows the fuel supply to be turned on or off. This control is extremely difficult to turn on our generator. We needed to use pliers to actual open and close the fuel supply. If you use this generator for standby power, it is important to make sure no fuel is in the carborator or it could gum up and stop the engine from working. When we no longer need the generator, we do not turn it off (there is an off/on/start switch), instead we close the fuel supply valve and let the generator burn all the fuel in the fuel line. This takes up to 5 minutes. By doing this you assure that residue from old fuel won't prevent starting.

Summary:

This generator is really great. With proper care (oil changes at the right intervals, clean air filter, always keeping fuel line empty) it should last a very long time and run flawlessly day after day.Be sure to remember to add fuel preservative to the gas in the tank and your reserve supply.

One other thing. The listing here says it has a 10 gallon fuel tank. Ours has a 7.5 gallon tank and it is exactly the same model number. I believe the Amazon listing is incorrect.

Honest reviews on Generac 5747 XG8000E 8,000 Watt 410cc OHVI Gas Powered Portable

After research I settled on this unit based on name brand, made in USA and quality. Many generators on the market today are shiny and fancy looking but made out of the country. Right now in our shop at work sits two generators that need partsname brands mind you but they were made in China and the parts cannot be purchased-all we have are motors!.

This is a very well made unit with a unique engine design for generators. Many generators use general purpose engines not well suited for this application. For those who have trouble starting remember a couple of itemsit is shipped without gas and oil_ once added you want to crank a few short times to splash the oil on the cylinder. Make sure the fuel shutoff valve is open. You may have to crank several times to get the fuel in the systemif you over choke you will need to crank as if flooded or let it sit a few minutes and crank again. This is normal for any engine that has been shipped dry of fluids. Once started let it run for 15 minutes.

This is an excellent unit but could have a couple of redesigns. First, put some real wheels on this heavy babyevery generator I looked at had plastic wheels. Second the handle bar mechanism needs a minor change, If you pick up too quickly or in a bind situation the bars may slip out of the snap mechanism. A simple pin to lock it out would solve the problemI will retrofit mine.other negatives? Can't find any.

The quality build is exceptional compared to competitors. Commercial design and parts set this apart from most generators. A generator needs to be well built, well designed and is not meant to be a thing of beautydon't be fooled by the glitzy looking imposters that use old brand names but are now built out of the country

I absolutely love this generator I have put over 100 hours on this unit since I purchased it last year at about this time. Combined with a Reliance transfer switch I had everything hooked up to 6 circuits in my house in about an hour. The generator started right up out of the box and has started reliably every since even when I use the manual pull start it fires right up.

I am powering everything from a 220 well pump to my dishwasher to my oil fired boiler/airhandler to my lights...oh, and of course my fridge, freezers and flat screen tv...with plenty of power to spare. And yes, having a dishwasher on my generator might be considered a bit excessive, but 8 days into an outage its looking pretty nice. I guess if I had to do it again though, I would go as far as adding my wash machine because around day 10 our clothes are starting to ripen a bit.

Some things about the generator:

Its loud...

Its very heavy...

It burns about 5 gallons at 1/3 load for 6-8 hours of use

Did I mention its loud?

You can use a Fram PH4967 oil filter in a pinch to substitute for the Generac filter.

I run the generator religiously once every 2-3 weeks for about 10 minutes

I change the oil/filter after every lengthy use regardless of what the hour meter says

During an outage I run it for about 8 hours a day, never over night

In fact, I am running the generator now as I write this on my laptop...I know a lot of people are shopping for generators now after Sandy so I want to make sure Generac gets a fair shake, despite some of the negative reviews...So 5 stars from me for this excellent product and here's to hoping I never have to use my generator again!
