-----UPDATE(01/07/12)-----Apparently there is a fuse inside the device, but it is soldered in place.(but no problems so far)------ ORIGINAL REVIEW-----I'm using this for my Garmin GTU 10 GPS Tracking Unit, so far, so good. Easy hook-up to my fuse panel, and plugs into my Garmin GTU 10 easily. The box itself is made in China and is about 2 inches X 2 inches and rated 1.5 amps. It dosn't have any kind of fuse, so you might want to consider that when installing. The individual wires themselves are kind of thin, but gets the job done. All in all, a great little device. If anything goes wrong with this thing(knock on wood), I will update my post.

I installed this on my motorcycle so that I could charge my phone and use it as a GPS. It works great and I have had no issues. The box that does the step down from 12 volt to 5 volt I feel is a bit too large and was kind of hard to hide. I would search a round a bit more for one that is smaller and come back to this if you can't find one knowing this one works.

Best Deals for i.Trek GA-NHWC2: Hardwire Cable for Garmin Nuvi, TomTom, Mio

I tested the cable before installing on my motorcycle and it worked fine. However, due to an oops, I fried the little fuse inside the box. To get inside, you'll need to remove the label (or poke holes in it) to access the screws. Once in, you'll see where the little fuse is soldered in. I plan to remove the fuse, solder the connection closed, and add a fuse somewhere else.

One concern I have is that the circuit board is not solidly mounted inside the box. It just rattles around. As this will be installed on a single-cylinder dual sport, I'm concerned that vibrations and bumps may mess with the circuit board. I will probably pot it with epoxy. There was also an exposed wire inside the box.

It's just a cheap, cheaply made cable which works, but needs extra work for my application.

I'm writing this review because the Amazon description doesn't inform you that you NEED 15 amps to power the device as clearly stated in the owner's manual. Unfortunately, I didn't know this before purchase so when I plugged it into my Honda Pilot which only supplies 10 amps, it didn't work. I called Slime customer service who confirmed that all their products require 15 amps.

Check your car owner's manual to make sure your power socket supplies 15 amps!

I'm giving it 5 stars because the device itself looks very high quality with a nice storage case. Slime customer service was also speedy and helpful. Too bad the Amazon item description was inadequate.

UPDATE: I have since bought the Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station Inflator which works great with my car.

Great carry case, well made, very fast tire inflation, a good buy. Works well on larger SUV type tires. Not a cheesy, cheap compressor.

Best Deals for Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire Inflator

This pump is far and away superior to a cheaper unit I had been using. I like the coiled air hose and its screw-on connector to the tires and its quick-disconnect connector to the pump. Also, the pump-mounted switches are more substantial than the switch on my old pump, which was on the power cord and had to be replaced. As noted by others, the fabric carrying case does fit the unit snugly, but I've had no difficulty removing or replacing the pump or air hose in the case.

Honest reviews on Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire Inflator

I bought this "Heavy Duty" inflator to refill truck tires after beach driving. This pump is not suited to that task. It is a great pump for topping off tires or maybe refilling one tire, but it cannot refill 4 tires in a reasonable amount of time. One key piece of information is not shown in the product specs. The pump can only be run for 10 minutes at a time, and must have a 15 minute cooling period in between. This is partly because the silver finned heat sink that looks metal in the pictures? It's plastic! Perhaps I expect too much for my money. I returned this item. I'll spend more money and get something that is truly "Heavy Duty".

This 'heavy duty' inflator failed after only a few uses. It was typically very slow to inflate my car's tires, but would eventually fill them to the required pressure. At one point, my tire was very low on pressure and the Slime inflator managed to bring it up to pressure after several minutes. After that, however, the unit no longer worked.

Also, for me, having the unit powered by the car's power socket, and not having a 110V alternative, was inconvenient.

I would not buy this unit again.

I liked the kit in every aspect by which I could judge it. The battery was big enough (electrically) and can be used in all positions (it's a gel type), the mounting h/w was fine, even though I used something different, and the 44'' cord to the breakaway switch was a very good length. The design and construction allowed for numerous mounting orientations. Subjectively, it was wonderful to know that the trailer brakes would now apply in a breakaway event.

I own 3 of these units and use them in the most difficult of situations. We own an RV and go camping regularly. Many of the campgrounds do not offer electricity and we must turn our generator off at 9 pm. We use 1 unit to power our 2 computers after quiet hours and it works great. We also have needed to jump start our camper when we accidentally left the cab light on and after a 3 minute charge it kick right over. We have also used the unit to give a booster charge to the RV house batteries to get the generator going.

Additionally the unit has literally been a life saver. My husband must sleep with a positive airway machine that needs to be plugged in to AC while he sleeps. We have 1 unit that we have dedicated to that purpose and it provides sufficient power to run his machine all night without a problem! As long as you keep the AC requirements under the manufactures specs (400 watt surge, 200 watt continuous) you will have no problems. If you try to run a toaster or a coffee maker though, these things run 700+ watts, and the unit automatically shuts down.

For the down side, yes the unit is heavy. It is in essence a car battery with an handle, plus a power inverter, with an air compressor and work light thrown in for good measure. But we knew it was heavy when we bought them so that doesn't bother us, and the upside far outweighs the weight issue.

All in all, it is an excellent unit that does all that it was advertised to do.

I initially bought this unit for my husband to use at his tractor pulling events. He takes it to every event he goes to and it hasn't let him down yet. He also uses it to start a very finicky riding lawnmower that, even when a regular battery charger is left on it for a day (or more), won't start. Yes, it pulls a majority of the charge off this thing, but it does indeed start this lawnmower that is on it's last leg.

I was surprised that even though I bought this for my husband, the longer we have it around, we keep finding handy uses for it that we hadn't even thought of upon purchase. The AC outlets are really nice, especially when we go camping. We have a fifth wheel trailer and before when the kids needed to charge their ipods or PSP's they would have to start the generator and leave it on to charge their stuff. Now, we can just use this unit and save the generator gas and noise. Also, on long trips if I ride in the trailer, it sometimes gets hot and stuffy and gets boring really quickly. It's nice to have this unit on board so I can use my laptop or portable DVD player to my hearts' content and also have a small fan to keep cool. This unit also has a really bright worklight built right in that I use for reading, which is a nice feature. It's also been really nice to be able to inflate water toys and bike tires while camping.

The inflator for bike tires and such is tucked in the back of the unit with an attached little felt bag that holds the needles for the hub. I just wish that the unit itself had a similar bag to hold the bigger inflator hose and charger cords since it does include an AC charger and a car charger so you can charge your unit from your vehicle while you are traveling. It would also be nice if the USB port had some kind of rubber cover like the AC ports do to prevent dirt and water from getting into the port. Instead, I just used some tape to cover the port to prevent this.

I make sure to keep this unit charged so that in a power outage I will still be able to use my laptop and charge my cellphones. This unit keeps a charge very nicely. I just plugged it in after is had been sitting in the garage unused for 3 months and it still has a 99% charge and quickly charged to 100% in less than 5 minutes. I would highly suggest that you charge this unit fully before storing it away so it will be ready for you when you need it. If you use the unit in a heavy duty capacity (like jumping batteries) or for extended periods of time with smaller charges (like computer, cell phone, or fan) then you do need to make sure you recharge the unit without overcharging. Once the unit gets to 100%, unplug it. Our unit charges very slowly especially when the remaining charge left is low (50% or less), but the cord for charging is much like a cell phone charger. I don't mind the slow charge time when the battery is getting high use. It will charge fairly quickly up to 99%, but then stay at 99% sometimes for hours until it finally hits 100%.

Do your homework on price. I bought mine at a 'big box store' for $100.

Pros:

*jump starts tractors/lawnmowers very well

*has USB outlet

*has AC outlets

*bright worklight built in

*digital display indicating the amount of charge

*inflator capability

*can charge unit either by plugging in at home or car.

Cons:

*no rubber cover for USB port

*can be slow to charge (so keep it charged)

*no storage compartment on unit for charging cords

Keep in mind that this unit is a portable battery source, NOT a generator. It does a great job with what it is intended to do. However, (as another reviewer posted) it will not run a coffee maker. Check the specs of whatever you think you will want to use it for and compare it with what this unit will do so that you are not disappointed. I absolutely love this unit and so does my husband. I'm sure there are uses for this unit that we haven't even discovered yet. We will be buying these for gifts, especially for those who love to camp and also for that 'hard to buy for' guy. It's nice to know that if you don't have a generator in a power outage you'll still have the ability to use/charge your radio, computer, or cell phone. That alone is worth the $100 purchase!

Best Deals for Schumacher XP2260 1200 Peak Amp Instant Portable Power Source

I want to start out by saying that I really love this unit for its jump starting and power source features. The jump starter works exactly as advertised. The 12 volt power source is massive, and lasts forever; I drive a vintage car with a non-operational 12v lighter outlet, and so this thing can sit in there for weeks on end and supply my phone, iPod, or whatever with hardly any drain. I actually bought this because I was going on a four night camping trip to a place without power, and I use a cpap machine when I sleep. If I had bought the dc adapter for my cpap machine, I'm sure that it would have lasted the entire trip. As it was, running on grossly inefficient AC power, it still got me through a couple nights before I had to take it to a place with power to charge up.

That brings me to the one and only pitfall of this power source, and it's a big one. The charger that comes with this unit is absolutely pitiful. I was literally speechless when I pulled what looked like a cell phone charger out of the box. At the moment I saw it, I said aloud to no one in particular "I'm supposed to charge this thing up with THAT?" Looking at the power supply, I saw that it was rated with a 700mA power output. For reference, I have a AA battery charger that charges at 700mA, and the charger for my DSLR batteries is rated at an output of 720mA. Both of those chargers take HOURS to charge relatively small batteries. So I think to myself, how long will it take to charge the 20 pound monster battery at the heart of this machine?

As it turns out, it takes a VERY long time. According to the manual that comes with this power source, it can take 72 hours (three days!!) to fully charge the power supply. I imagine that were I an executive at Schumacher and some young engineer brought this to me, I'd throw it across the desk at him and tell him to give me something that charges in significantly less than half a week. Indeed, after I ran the batter dead on the second night of my camping trip, it spent the entire day plugged into power at the camp office, and after all that, didn't quite have enough power to get through night three. Night four was worse still, and after about 4 hours I was awake and the power source was dead.

Having said all that, I am still very happy with the power source itself, and I decided to keep it. In the future, I will use a dc cable for my cpap machine if I go camping, and I imagine it should work for a far longer duration. As I said, it goes and goes forever powering small 12v applications, and is heavy enough that when I take a tight corner at speed it doesn't flop around. For everything that it does, it does it very well, and I would recommend it for those features. If charge time isn't a big factor in your purchase, I would think you would be very happy owning it. But if you need something that can go from depleted to fully charged in less than a day or two, this might not be the best fit for you.

EDIT: Shortly after doing this review I discovered almost by accident that by clamping the jump start cables to a running car you can charge the battery in less than an hour. This is really useful information that I'm surprised was not in my instruction manual. (Someone in the comments said that their copy of the manual talked about a 12v male-to-male lighter cable doing the same thing, but I can't find that in my manual. Besides, You probably charge much faster with the heavier gauge cables on the jump start.) That really does make a difference, and as such I bumped the rating up a star. I'm sure that to some veterans of portable jump start kits this is common knowledge, but as this is my first time with one of these as my own, I sure would have loved reading about this in their manual!

In what has been almost a year since buying this, I have used it a number of times for a number of different situations. I drive a classic car that doesn't have a 12v lighter outlet, so this has come along on many trips allowing me to charge my phone or run other portable technology that I would have to be without in my car. I have used it numerous times as a portable AC power source when I didn't have access to AC, such as when I have needed to charge equipment in remote locations. And on a couple occasions I've even used it to jump-start a car.

Bottom line: I'm very happy with it. I still don't like that pitiful little AC charger. They would have been better off not including it at all and actually mentioning in the manual that a quick clip to a running car would have you charged in no time. Still, I would definitely recommend this as a good value for the money.

Honest reviews on Schumacher XP2260 1200 Peak Amp Instant Portable Power Source

I bought this unit at Wal-mart for 99.95 and it has some really cool features. Lets start with the worst and get that out of the way. Tiny little wall charger sucks if your in a hurry to charge unit. Okay, Everything else makes it worth the purchase and you may want more than 1 if youre an RVer like me. The heart of this unit is a 22 amp hour battery with 1200 cold cranking amps. What does that mean? 22 amp hour at 45 watts (small lcd tv or laptop) you would get about 5 hours of operation with its inverter. If your charging an ipod or other smart phone, they usually have about a 2000 mah battery. Those could be charged by the dozens. If you arent already aware, portable jumper boxes dont use car batteries like most people think. They use a motorcycle battery. That being said this one has 1200cca which is about 400-700 more cca than most that you will see. CCA (cold cranking amps) is the amount of umph! for lack of better word that will help start your car. Especially when you live in cold weather. Example, 1 guy pushing a car up a hill at 3 mph is really hard. 2 guys pushing a car up a hill at 3mph, alot easier. I know, stupid analogy but you get the point. Lets move on. I have a few plug in inverters that I used to use for operating my laptop, tv or phone chargers in my rv. They all get the job done. They all make lots of noise. This is the only inverter Ive used that is silent under small load. Add to that two a/c outlets, 2 12v and a usb port I think youll be happy with this unit. Oh by the way, it comes with something Ive never seen on a jumper box before. It has port for blowing up air mattresses, floaty toys, etc as well as a deflator. I havent used it for that purpose yet but kind of a cool addition in my opinion. I'm going to buy an extra unit for my 2nd truck but I will take them both with me when I travel so I have twice as much operating capability. I havent tried it yet but Id like to see if a 12v to 12 volt charger off of my older jumper boxes will charge this any quicker. I'll check back later to let you know.

I purchased two of these from Wal-Mart.Since we've been experiencing particularly odd weather, they've been quite handy in the blackouts. The only time they weren't, had to do with the fact I did not charge them. The weight of them had everything to do with that.I've had a few abdominal surgeries therefore the risk of lugging the VERY heavy battery did not appeal to me.

However, after a year and a few occasions, I must say they have helped tremendously with phone charging, single lamp lighting and charging laptop at the same time.

Not being an expert on portable power, I will assume all batteries drain at a quicker than slow rate, therefore the advice on making sure you check on it at least once weekly to redo charge.

Finally, they have been used two times each to jumpstart vehicles;worked well.

Pro: multiple outlets for varied small appliances, usb outlet, BUILT IN BRIGHT LIGHT, smartly designed body to avoid tipping, excellent price

Con;The weight, NOT going to run big screen TV (chuckle)

Powerlet is great generally. This particular adapter is a backup to my usual battery charger connector which likes to blow fuses. I keep it in my tour pak. Who's the joker who gave this a 1 star review? My experience with this item is a 5 star one. Here are my thoughts.

Pros:

Scans for so many types of detection K, X, Ka, VG2, Laser... I've seen them all go off in just a few days. I had no idea there were so many cops around!

alerts you in order so the most advanced speed detection system is prioritized over the lower ones.

Detects signals from cops I can't even see and I'm on a motorcycle, so I'm taller than cars and can look in all directions. So, basically it's picking up signals from a few blocks away.

gives you signal strength of radar etc from 1 to 9 so you know if they're right up your ass or a few blocks away AMAZING!

legal :)

fits to my screen easily with the enclosed suction attachment. Was a bit nervous about it falling off but I've been over some major bumps and so far all good.

-contrary to the 1-star fool the batteries that come with it last a good amount of time, as do my other rechargeable batteries that I use with it. Don't know what he's on about.

display is bright and easy to see

flashes an 'all-clear' when the signal goes away.

Cons:

errrmmm... racking my brain to think of one... my only addition would be a headphone socket so I didn't have to rely on glancing at the display (bit loud on a motorcycle to always hear the voice forget it on freeway).

Case-study

I was a little dubious before I bought this that it would work, but it really does. I tested this on day one by flying past a stationary cop in traffic. Sure enough he starts to follow me. I cruise at the speed limit and within 10 seconds I am alerted the exact moment he switches on his radar gun to track my speed. I ride on. Since I did nothing but obey the the law and speed limits, after a mile or so he gets bored and peels off. System gives the 'all-clear', and away we go. I couldn't ask for more for what I feel is a very reasonable price a just under at hundred bucks. Get one! :)

Like the different filters to tune out traffic sensing radar. Seems pretty sensitive to real radar from cop cars. The vg2 went off a few times already. You have to keep in mind that when vg2 is detected the local oscillator In the detector shuts down for 30 seconds to avoid detection by the cops. So even though it shuts down of corse u know there are cops around. It's a keeper.

Best Deals for Whistler XTR-445 Laser/Radar Detector Battery Operated

Seemed to work great, would detect radar with more than enough time to slow down, about the same range as my old Passport. Didn't seem to have any more false alarms than my Passport, in fact there were a couple spots on my daily commute where the Passport would false, but the Whistler would remain silent. This was using the Highway mode on both. They don't use Laser around here luckily, so I can't comment on that.

Batteries seemed to be good for about 5 hours before they would read 25% left. That was good enough to last the week for my dailt commute to work, but if it sat unused for 2 days after re-charging, it would drop to 75% without ever being turned on, dropping the life to about 3 hours. Not great for any trips, don't forget the cord, or some spare batteries. I had planned to replace the cheap chinese batteries with better quality rechargeables to see if that would extend battery life.

Got in the car yesterday and turned it on, it goes through the entire test sequence, and then says "NO BATT" and shuts itself off. How can it turn on if there are no batteries? I tried charging it overnight, even tried a different set of batteries. Same results.

JR is paying return shipping to exchange it, so I will try another. Hopefully it has a longer life span. I can highly recommend JR music world, great service.

UPDATE 9/11/2012: I received the replacement from J&R a couple of days ago. The batteries that came with this one are garbage, and will only run the unit for about an hour before the charge runs out. I have tried regular alkalines (DO NOT charge these!) and it shows 50% battery life after 8 hours. I have some Eneloops on order to fix the low battery life. Just a warning that if you do buy this unit, plan on replacing the batteries right out of the box.

I love the look, love the wireless idea. In the city every light sends an alarm... so I quit using city. I only use highway and this jewel does work it notifies me with more than enough time to slow down I was shocked! The rechargeable batteries are garbage though I don't even turn this thing on for 2 days or so until I get on the highway and it's dead.... Recharge takes 5mins but sheesh it was a 100% 2 days ago and now it's dead. I'm looking into better rechargeables. Anyways great detector for under $100.

This stand is perfect for the IPhone 4. It is good quality but because it does not accomodate the Mophie Jack cover on my phone of which I asked before purchasing I am somewhat disapointed. It would be nice if it was adjustable to accomodate the phone covers.

The five stars are for the Titan iPhone 4 stand by Maclove.

This iPhone stand was so awesome that I ordered another one for my desk at work.

However, my second order for this item was fulfilled by NTKsolution who sent me a cheap Chinese knockoff in crummy packaging instead of the Titan iPhone 4 stand from Maclove.

I have reported NTKsolution to Amazon customer service.

Absolutely THE best stand for the money, hands down! Excellent simple, elegant, sturdy and strong design. Like the majority of the apple products, it not only looks god, it functions beautifully as well. I bought a second one to keep at work and Everyone is asking where I bought it! One suggestion...get the extension cable to go with the stand since the factory cables are rather short. Don't even look at another stand, GET THIS! You can thank me later.

I am really digging this iPhone stand. It looks very sleek and apple-esquue. I leave this on my desk at work and put my phone in it each day and plug in the cable from my computer to keep it charged. It is very sturdy and has grips on the bottom so I am able to text or surf the web without removing it from the stand. I don't watch movies or use face time a ton, but it is very adjustable and would work great for either. In short looks nice. high quality. highly recommended.

I bought the 14.4V with two batteries and it's a very nice tool. Mine was made in Taiwan. If I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the 12V due to the weight. The 14.4 is pretty big and I ended up making a shoulder strap since I use it for lubing a tractor with lots of grease fittings. I also went for two batteries thinking I might reach for it and have to wait for it to recharge. But you can leave a battery on trickle charge all the time so it will always be ready. Bottom line: the 12V with one battery is considerably cheaper and will also be lighter.

I bought this grease gun mainly for use on my Loader Backhoe which has over 40 grease fittings and usually uses over 14oz of grease every time I grease it. I have a air grease gun in my shop but I often leave my backhoe at the worksite. This grease gun goes any where with its case and extra battery and cut my grease gun time in half, it is very well made and should last a long time. There is no compairison between this Lincon and a cheaper cordless grease gun.

i think this tool is going to be good---used only a couple times------the anti-kink spring on one end of flexible hose did come loose --a little agravating but no biggie--i am looking forward to using it more--maybe they can make the anti-kink spring a little more stable--

I researched this product on-line and in local stores. I decided on the 14.4V for a gift for my husband. We never realized that greasing farm equipment could be so quick and easy. The battery charged right up, the grease gun purged easily on the first try and the length of the hose made it easy to get to those hard to reach fittings. The Amazon price was the best and there was no shipping.
