I bought this device for an 8 day car vacation trip. I specifically wanted to recharge and power my MacBook Pro, which comes with an 85 Watt power supply (my kids used the MBP in the car to watch videos). It was used continuously while we were driving, approximately 22 hours total during the 8 day trip. The device just basically worked, what more can I say? I also used the built in USB port to charge up my cell phone and iPod (only one device at a time).

According to the documentation, this device only outputs 90W sustained. This wasn't an issue for me, as I doubt the MBP was drawing anywhere near the 85W limit of the power supply. Compared to others reviewed at amazon.com, this device does not have a fan, so it operates silently. The last thing I needed was *more* noise in the car.. ;-)

The only negative I had is that the MBP plug was kinda loose in the AC outlet in the device, not sure if that's the fault of the MBP power adapter or this device. It was tight enough, so the plug did not fall out while the car was in motion.

I'm glad I bought this device.

I bought this for a car that needed to charge both a USB and a conventionally powered device as well. The good: it did charge both devices and apparently did not damage either. The bad: it literally started BILLOWING SMOKE after just a few hours use and could have caused serious damage if not removed. It was actually hot to the touch when it was pulled from the car socket.

I would not recommend this product to anyone for any reason as not only is it a complete waste of the money, but from my experience, it is actually hazardous to life and property.

BUYER BEWARE: I just came to see what kind of a product this was. I was appalled to see the manufacturer labeled it for laptops.

YUK YUK false advertising. Rating on the unit is 100 watts that is less than one amp on the output of this unit. Most laptops easily draw at input 120 watts or apx. 1 amp and up. So if you use a laptop 10" screen your input draws more than what this unit can supply. This is why some reviewers had over heating, some had smoke city and am sure some even got burnt. Bigger the laptop the more the prominent the problem. This is a manufacture's liability for false/misleading/incorrect information. Ignorance is not a defense.

Hope this helps. I dont review to score high on Amazons brown nose list. I shoot straight and say it like it is.

This will be a mixed review of sorts.

I bought an Optima SC35DA Yellow Top directly from Amazon in August of 2009 and it worked fine until March of 2011. The plastic around the negative battery post just split with gas and gel oozing out.

I did not think there was any problem because this Optima battery comes with a three year full replacement warranty.

Now the warranty merry go round started.

I called Amazon and I was told to call Optima, Optima told me they would not warranty the battery because Amazon is not an authorized reseller, so back to Amazon, then back to Optima and so on.

The final result is that Amazon wound up giving me a full refund of the purchase price of the battery. I would rather of had a new battery but I got tired of the BS and aggravation and then I did what others did, I went to a local discount store and bought a cheap battery.

What is the point of spending $174.00 on what is supposed to be the best battery only to have it fail very early in its life cycle and then have to argue over getting it replaced?

The Optima battery worked for less than two years. So why spend the money on one when you can buy a Wal-Mart special for less than half the price, get it replaced locally or just throw it out and buy a new one.

I do have to thank Amazon for finally giving me the refund but there was too much aggravation involved. From all of the complaints I have read about the lack of a warranty when the Optima Battery is bought from Amazon, you would think Amazon would stop selling it.

This is exactly why I gave it only one star.

I can only recommend that no one should by any Optima Battery Product from Amazon unless they are fully aware that there is no warranty at all.

Wow! I am both relieved and impressed. I just purchased two of these batteries. After reading previous horror stories about damaged/no packaging I have to admit I was hesitant. I have had other problems with Amazon.com in the past. I just couldn't resist the price here, and with free shipping it sealed the deal. I guess whoever does the shipping here got the message about poor/damaged packaging. Mine were both delivered undamaged by UPS(this is an extraordinary occasion), and to my surprise the boxes were designed like tanks. Extra thick cardboard boxes with an entire lining of corrugated cardboard reinforcement all the way around the battery. The batteries inside were in perfect condition!!! A+ job here by Amazon.com!!! BTW shipping was also lighting fast....I ordered on Sat and batteries arrived on Tues.

If I could give zero stars I would... I know its cheaper here, but this battery just died after 6 months of normal use. Amazon will not stand behind this product and will not accept returns. Optima will also not warranty from an unauthorized seller. Funny, they left that off the listing for this battery. I learned my lesson, so hopefully everyone reading this will learn theirs too without the loss of $$. Unacceptable business practice in my opinion. FAIL.

Hi i recently purchased a D35 optima battery and it came broken so bad the cell was EXPOSED before i bought this battery i read previous comments about a guy receiving a damaged battery without proper packaging.i assumed that this problem was known to the shippers and they would correct it .So why am i in the same position today ? my battery came in a very thin box and packing to ship a (feather) come on !this battery is 35 pounds it needs to be secured on the corners where it is most weak .amazon is great but this shipper is not .

After 4 years the batteries on my mower died. I ordered 2 of these and they work great. The only thing I had to do was drill the hole just a bit bigger so the bolt would fit through. I'm pleased with the purchase.

I purchased two of these for my Friendly Robotics RL800 mower and was disappointed with their performance. While initial run time with these batteries was nearly three hours, within a month that time had dropped to less than 10 minutes.

Friendly Robotics thought the mower was working correctly and that the problem was these UPGs were not up to the task. I bought B.B. Batteries EB20-12X which have been working fine and have also used the Werker WKA12-18NBs.

After about 5 years or so, the battery pack in my B&D CMM 1200 24V mower died. I live in Canada, and bought the mower at Home Depot, so I went there and they don't sell the replacement batteries. I went to the B&D website, and was redirected to DeWalt, (they merged), where I found their replacement batteries. They were around $150 plus shipping, and also stated "backordered". The cynic in me thinks that this is suspicious, since B&D just came out with that sexy new 36V mower, so maybe they aren't going to support the older 24V anymore--"Can't get a battery? Darn, better buy a new mower........" Anyway, I found these batteries after reading a mower blog (who knew there were mower blogs?). They work just fine. There have been some comments that the posts are different, and that is correct, but I didn't need to modify anything. The factory batteries in my mower didn't have external terminals, but rather had screw holes with the wires secured by screws which themselves formed the posts. These new batteries have two terminals with a bolt going through them as can be seen from the photos. So, the wires are held on with screws in both systems, but the screws face in slightly different directions. There may be different variations of this B&D mower, so maybe in some there isn't any slack in the wires, but in mine it worked just fine.

So, if you can get them (maybe not anymore) the factory batteries will cost you about $150-$160 plus shipping, and two of these together were $82 shipped........ I don't know how long they will last, but even if they only last a year or two, I still didn't have to spend over $400 for a new mower yet! I had to pay some brokerage fees to bring the batteries into Canada, but would have had to with the factory battery as well, so it all comes out in the wash.

Whenever we traveled for a long time towing our Subaru we'd get a warning that our Easy Brake's power was low and shortly after would turn off, or after arriving at our day's destination would find the battery was too low to start requiring jumping to move the car. Asked the manufacturer of the Easy Brake (my controller) how to resolve this and they suggested a number of things that either weren't practical or were too complex to bother with. They didn't suggest this product but since it's made by a competitor they may not have known of it (and one of their suggestions actually did wind up doing just what this product was after construction (but wouldn't have been as small and neatly constructed, so buying this was better and far easier). Discovered this device, while browsing the internet. Low cost and quality construction. Installed it per the straight-forward instructions and our battery problems are over. Installation was easy for me (have some experience with wiring and electronics) and should be for most dyi types; otherwise have it installed--shouldn't cost much for that. Bottom line: attach connector when starting trip and remove it when at destination. Battery charges as long as towing vehicle is running.

I use the BrakeBuddy battery maintainer in my Honda CRV that is being towed behind a motorhome. The SMI Stay-in-Play brake system doesn't require much power, and I also put in a switch to turn off the radio/nav system when towing to reduce battery drain. I have taken weekend trips that did not affect the Honda battery, but this summer we will travel a lot. This is why I bought the BrakeBuddy battery maintainer. After installation, we towed for five days without unhitching the Honda. The battery maintainer kept the battery charged (of course, a 12 VDC charge line is required from the motorhome thru the umbilical cord to the Honda). Installation is easy, and I used a ty-rap to fasten the battery maintainer to a cable ass'y next to the Honda battery. I've been told that an isolater is not needed, but I was nervous about two systems connected together, especially when the motorhome engine is running with charging current being supplied to the Honda, and the Honda is running while going thru the transmission prep prior to towing. Now I don't worry about any of that.

I have the new creative zen media player. I like to go camping in the Everglades National Park...no electricity there. The build is a little cheap but the product does just what it is advertised as doing. Nolan offers this device in two flavors, the one listed here and a 2.0 kit that allows the operator to use his/her smartphone as a MP3 player/GPS/Communication device. This is the watered down version but is still equally capable with some additional gear. Instead of pairing your phone and being done with it as you would with the 2.0 kit, you'll need an additional "Multimedia" wire from Nolan that allows the phone/MP3/GPS unit to be wired to your helmet. You can still place and receive phone calls via bluetooth but all other operations will be made via the hard wired connection. Also, its worth mentioning that you need the basic kit with will provide the speakers and microphone for the bluetooth to function.

All in all, Nolan has an excellent device here. Keep in mind that this set up is made specifically for Nolan helmets and as such, the fit is superb. However, you cannot use these devices with any helmet other than a Nolan (and a Nolan designated for use with NCOM devices). If you want a seamlessly installed bluetooth setup for your helmet using good quality components, give NCOM a look. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
