This dual charger is OK for the low amp charging jobs like GPS, Bluetooth and Cellphone auto charging. However, give it a bigger job like an 8 amp draw mini moto air pump (for pumping air into the tires) and it blew this 12 Volt Two Way DC Car Charger into a smelly mess (along with my cig lighter fuse). FYI-The Scosche 12 volt twin adapter is the same as this one.

I received the item very quickly as promised, no worries there. used the device for 1 week and 1 of the 2 sides stopped working. I did receive an email from the seller after advising my situation, I was impressed by the fast response. this may or may not have been a factory defect. Bottom line, is the unit broke, for whatever reason.

I got this product to charge my phone, use an FM transmitter and use a GPS system in any order. I have not had any problems of the unit overloading like the other reviewers have described. I would just use caution before plugging in anything that draws a lot of power. One thing you need to consider is that it may need to be positioned vertically as in my car it blocks the stick shift. But not a big deal. Overall a good deal and get the job done.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)The Wagan Twin USB/DC Cup Holder Adapter is a very good value. Considering that I paid the same price for a single USB car lighter adapter, this is a great value. It's conveniently shaped like a cup-holder, with the added benefits of 2 included DC adapters and 2 USB adapters. So far all 4 adapters work perfectly.

This adapter definitely sits lower in my cupholder than what I was expecting. It looks taller in the product picture, but expect it to be just above flush with your cup-holder. If your car has two different sized cupholders, one larger than the other, this unit is designed to fit in the smaller standard size. For me that is the cupholder further from the control panel and closer to my center arm-rest.

The unit has four LED indicator lights so you can judge how many devices can be charged with it. This "Battery Level Indicator" feature is a nice extra, with "HIGH," "MID," "12V" and "LOW" indicators.

The product package indicates this unit works with standard 12V and 24VDC accessories. Apparently there's a fuse inside the unit in the event you over-use it, though I haven't yet had the fuze go on me.

CONSIDERATIONS

There are a few shortcomings to the product, all of which I would consider minor. First of all, the lighter cable is relatively short. That's ok if you are plugging it into the DC outlet on your control panel. Many newer cars also have DC outlets within the arm-rest console storage area. I found that the cord was just barely long enough to reach down into my car's storage compartment and be plugged in. That means for some vehicles, like larger cars and SUVs, it might be too short. The deeper the storage compartment, the more likely you are to have trouble using that DC outlet to power this adapter.

The two DC adapters are very deep within the unit, almost too deep. For many DC powered car accessories with shorter plugs, it seems like it might be possible to push them in too far and lose electrical contact.

The other minor negative was that the USB adapters are not perfectly parallel. They are separated by metal but the USB pins are embedded in tabs made of some kind of composite material. You have to carefully insert USB cables because if you don't you risk damaging your connector or the adapter.

CONCLUSION

This is a good unit even if it isn't perfect. Considering the price and the fact that the product performs as advertised, I still recommend this over most others I have tried. It's worth it to have a few extra adapter plugs available to charge your accessories and electronics in your car.

Our new Subaru Tribeca amazingly had no DC outlets anywhere on the dashboard, instead hiding them in the console. We needed access to the jacks for the handsfree cellphone speaker and occasionally the GPS. This item would be great if it worked, but my USB circuit blew out within a few days of plugging it in, before I even had a chance to use the USB sockets. I smelled burning insulation but didn't associate it with the converter.

I think many (all?) of the folks who are complaining about the LEDs being nonfunctional don't realize that they are reading the charge state of the CAR battery, not the items that are plugged in. If you look at the small instruction sheet included, it says that it's showing the functioning of the car's charge system when the car is running, and the charge on the battery 10 minutes after the car is shut off (but with the starter switch in the 'accessory' position. Quite useful for finding out what kind of shape your battery is in before the cold weather hits, as even a mostly-dead battery will start a car OK in warmer weather. This little item saved me a tow.

At least the 12V sockets still work. I wish I had tried it out when I first got it rather than wait a couple of months I wasn't able to return it for a refund.

Nice surface for gripping the plug when pulling out the plug, but for me I wish the plug was smaller or right angle... I'm not going to be unplugging it. Due to the short length of the cable, and the big plug, I directly wired a socket extension cable to my car's accessory wiring to avoid a big plug in my center console... which also frees up my car's socket.

Bright smooth nickel plated contacts all around. Fuse is a standard cylinder type marked 10A, accessed by unscrewing the nipple end of the plug. The + contacts for the round sockets is one solid piece of metal. One philips screw in the middle of the bottom appears to hold the case together, also one phillips holding together the plug.

Subtle blue glow from the base of the round sockets. Not obnoxious bright like the units I used to have.

This is a perfect solution for what I needed, and the unit works well. Like most adapters it takes two hands to remove the plug, however the design allows single handed plugging.

Great purchase, my only regret is padding my order for free shipping with other things. I should have gotten two of these instead :)

FYI folks, just to help everyone. This is a "Lead Acid" battery. Much like the one in your car. More like a "Marine" battery, as it is sealed, and can "Operate" sideways, and even upside down (for short periods of time). (DON'T CHARGE IT, OTHER THEN STRAIGHT UP THOUGH)! Lead acid Batteries have NO MEMORY!! And,... they deliver their LONGEST LIFE when kept FULLY CHARGED at all times! This does not mean to OVER charge them (That can warp the lead plates inside the battery)! If you read the manual to the battery operated toy you purchased.... It will tell you to recharge after every use for 18 hours, and not more then 36. But, just use your head folks, and adjust those times. If you have it fully charged, and your kid only operates it for a few minutes... Your cool for another run without recharging it. But,... if it's 20 or 30 minutes, or more, put it on the charger for, maybe 8 to 10 hours. If they've cranked it up some hills, or put some extra strain in driving for awhile? Use your heads, and adjust the recharging, using a little common sense and logic. The standard charger they give you is a "Trickle Charger". Trickle charging is the least invasive way to charge a battery. Quick chargers reduce the life of a battery. Lead acid batteries do what's called "Sulphate" when they are in a low, or discharged condition. If you leave one of this batteries with no charge in them at all for a long period of time,... it will destroy them. Short periods of discharge shortens it's life. If you are ever going to not use it for awhile.... FULLY charge the battery, and recharge it every month. All this being said.... It's a good Idea to do a booster (Trickle) charge on your own cars battery, at least once a year to extend it's life. Especially if you do a lot of stop and start driving!! Not quite as necessary if most of your driving is extended freeway driving. Long post!!! But, just trying to help.... As MANY other peoples post have helped me many many times also!! Purchased this for my daughters Kawasaki Power Wheels ATV and this thing really cooks! I first used solar power when we were cruising the Pacific on our 32-foot sailboat in 1981. We had two, 33-watt panels that (along with one home-built wind generator with a hand-carved propeller) kept us in refrigeration, lights and ham radio for the next 5 years. Now we have a little 21-foot RV trailer and the first thing I did was buy two of these units. So far they've been good enough to keep our deep-cycle battery charged for up to a week of camping at a time. It helps to be able to aim them right at the sun throughout the day; otherwise the power drops off dramatically. Don't let anything shade them! I just wish that the price would drop further so we could do our house. I don't use a regulator but periodically measure the voltage at the battery. If it gets to 14.5VDC I disconnect the panels.

...it generates a fair amount of RF interference. If you use this in a car, you can pretty much expect that your AM radio reception will be significantly compromised, and if you use it to power a CD power or similar, unless the player itself is quite well filtered internally, you'll notice audible buzzing through the player's audio outputs (I have a Sony CD player that is really bad in this regard).

It does do a fine job of creating power, and I suppose for the price you can't really ask for a lot of internal filtering. So... the bottom line is that it's a fine product if the aforementioned limitations either don't apply to you or don't bother you.

I bought this to replace the original adapter I got with a Sony CD car kit 13 years ago, and was very pleasantly surprised by the improvement in quality. The cord is longer to avoid pulling, and is protected by a thick rubber exterior. The orginal cord I had was thin, and while it lasted 13 years, it finally snapped clean off. This current version of the adapter is much more rugged. It works great with my portable CD player, and I'm very pleased.

This retractable car charger did not like the battery in my Verizon phone at all! Though the retractable cord is nice, the charging is not. Just came back from a trip to Central/Europe. The adapter works as advertised. I had no problems with it. Yes, all the outlets in Europe are the recessed type. However, regarding Amazon reviewers such as TravelGuru who posted a review, I'm not sure if I should fault the reviewer for not knowing how to operate the equipment or the manufacturer for not providing explicit instructions. This travel adapter worked pretty well while we were in Italy and France. The only complaint I have is that the plug portion is not very long. There were many outlets in Italy and France that were somewhat recessed, which meant that this adapter would not work because it got too big too close to the plug (or the plug was not long enough). If the outlet was flush with the wall, there were no issues. Luckly we had a few different adapters for these types of outlets. The size is great (small), compared to other adapters.

I bought this to replace my first charger that after a year of use decided to shuffle off this mortal coil. After about a month I started to see that some of the wire was showing. I thought I might have pulled it wrong or something and put electrical tape around it as a fix. Well, a few days after that, I noticed a few more places where the wire was showing; then more and more! Now I have a chord that is mostly exposed wire! with some electrical tape still holding the initial exposures. I have a similar charger thing for my iphone which has no signs of deterioration. I don't know if there is a substitute for this product, if there is, get that one instead...

This car charger is nothing like the original. It charges the GPS but it takes a lot longer for the GPS to turn on now since it has to rerecognize the charger every time. Also, after two weeks of use, the connection is extremely loose. Now it only works about 10% of the time. Do not buy this product! It is like throwing your money away.

I purchased this charger about 2 years ago. It was a much better quality then. This charger does charge my phone, and I am pleased with this fact. However, the black cord that is wrapped around the wires has melted and fallen off. It could be from keeping the charger in the car with temperatures being as warm as they are. I'm not sure. The similar Motorola charger I purchased about 2 years ago did not melt and it stayed in the car year 'round.

Let's make this review short & quick. It's a Motorola Car Charger for various Motorola phones. I currently have a RAZR 2.0. It works for a few other models. Never buy one of those cheap knock off imposter chargers from gas stations, etc. Always go with the OEM ones. They apparently charge the battery safely and in a more efficient manner. Now I'm just quoting what it said on the description or on the packaging. Regardless of whether or not that's true, this charger looks a hundred times better than any black, plain, boring other charger. This one lights up when plugged in. It looks awesome at night. The M lights up a cool blue. It's definitely something. I got a great deal on this charger and then went ahead and bought a house one for I dunno, $4? I would definitely recommend this charger. I love it and it's just one of those bad-ass high tech things that I have in my front section of my GTP that adds to the aura/ allure/ set-up I have going on.

Exide MC-31 MEGACYCLE AGM-200 Sealed Maintenance Free (AGM) Marine Reviews

Received this Deep Cycle battery 2 weeks ago from Amazon. The manufacture's production date was 11/2011 and the manufacture's ship date (to Amazon?) was 12/2011 so the battery was received factory fresh. It arrive with a full charge per my multi-meter at 12.8 volts. It has 840 cranking amps at 32 degrees and 700 cranking amps at 0 degrees. It is a 100 amp hour battery with a 200 minute reserve capacity.

This battery was installed in a diesel pusher motor home as the "house" battery, which is used to power the lights, heat, water pump etc. when you are not connected to utility power or running the generator.

It is heavy (at about 72 pounds) but since it is a sealed AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery we won't have to remove it every 6 months and check the water level in it as you do regular lead acid batteries.

We also use a NOCO Genius G7200 charger (also sold through Amazon) to keep it charged since it is a "smart" charger and will not over charge the battery. We no longer use the coach's built in 12 volt converter/charger to keep the batteries charged since it will over charge the batteries and shorten their life.

Even though we have only had the battery 2 weeks, I would recommend it for 3 reasons:

1. PRICE! When shopping around for a group 31 AGM battery, our local battery store (Batteries Plus) wanted $325.00 for theirs. (To be fair, their AGM battery was a hybird with 1000+ cranking amps it is across between a deep cycle battery and a starting battery.) Other places online wanted $250.00 or more and around $50.00 shipping!

2. Exide has been making batteries for over 120 years so I think they will be around to honor their 2 year replacement warranty.

3. As an AGM battery there little maintenance (Just wipe it off every now and then). I have had an AGM battery in our full size truck for 7 years with no problems to report. Our other vehicles have had to have their batteries replaces every 2 to 3 years. The heat in Texas is hard on a battery... (From now on when we replace the batteries in our vehicles, they too will be AGM batteries.)

We plan on purchasing 2 more of these batteries when our existing engine starting batteries need to be replaced in the coach.

I bought this battery for my travel trailer and it passed the test on a recent 10-day trip to Yellowstone park. I had plenty of power for the whole trip without having to recharge. There was not a hint of fading power on the whole trip. My previous battery, which is only a year old, did not last this long on week-long trips. I'm happy.

Added 1/13/13 I bought a motor home and no longer use this on a trailer. I am now using it as a battery for my Minn-Kota 50 lb thrust troling motor on my 2 boats. I can also hook up my fish finder to it and have plenty of power for both. It works as a back-up for the motor home though I haven't had to use it yet.

I purchased two of the Exide MC-31 batteries from Amazon which were delivered in May, 2011. They were very well packaged and in excellent condition. After unpacking and inspecting the batteries, I was surprised to see that the manufacture date was May of 2010. The batteries had been in storage without charging for a full 12 months. The open circuit voltage indicated only about 75% charge, indicating that some plate sulphation must certainly have taken place by this time reducing the battery life and capacity. When I contacted Amazon their representative directed me to deal with the manufacturer. (Catch 22) The manufacturer did not supply the batteries to me directly and they were not actually defective (just old). I put the batteries into service and just hope their service life has not been shortened dramatically. When they were shipped to Amazon is not known, but selling lead acid batteries that are already a year old sounds like a huge oversite on Amazon's part. If you are considering the purchase of one of these batteries, I would suggest you contact Amazon first and inquire as to the date of manufacture.

This battery is great even when not used for a boat or RV. Using a 1,500 watt inverter, Anywhere PRO Audio in Jacksonville, NC uses it to power its BOSE professional sound systems where there is no access to power. We can run our systems for up to 9 hours on a single charge! Amazing output!

I was a bit worried about ordering a battery from Amazon especially after the poor review and date problem listed below but, our travel trailer battery was dead and after checking local prices (whew!) decided to give this a try.

After reading all the reviews, opted for this one and then noticed, WarehouseDeals had one available for a few bucks less. Since batteries can't be returned in general, I figured the less spent, the less risk and opted to give it a go.

When the battery arrived, my initial reaction was "uh-oh" because it was dusty and dirty. No grease or anything but lots of dust...I think there was even a shoe-print on it! I dreaded the worst thinking this thing must have been sitting around the warehouse for ages. No so! I cleaned it off a bit and saw the date being the SAME month as shipped! Wow I can't even get batteries that new locally. In fact, I can't come anywhere near this price on this battery (or similar ones) locally...the next best price was about $100 more than what I paid.

Hooked it up to see the charge...was at 92%. Charged the remainder. Works like a charm! Couldn't be more pleased by this purchase. Great battery, great price, great delivery, very fresh! Oh it was dirty as all get-out but I saved about $100 so still very pleased!

Don't get me wrong I know this is a very feature limited unit and I am one of those people who can find their way around just about anywhere without a paper map. I have a built in compass and can get the feel and layout of a metro area in less than a day, so I was pretty skeptical about the utility of these devices. boy was I wrong. Without a doubt its pretty useless, for instance, on I-95 going from New York to Miami its pretty hard to get lost on one thousand miles of straightaway, but the great thing about this is when you have to go off path. Everyone would prefer to skip the roadside gas stations and pull off into Florence a couple miles to find gas at local retail as opposed to full pit-stop price, or how about a better meal than McDonald's, maybe your wife would prefer to stay at a seaside hotel in Savannah instead of the Motel-6 along the interchange? You don't have to worry about getting lost or detoured by unfamiliar terrain anymore. No more missed turns, looping round-abouts, one way dead ends. Sure, you still have to use your common sense with the gadget, but the only time I missed my destination was when I failed to make the turn it recommended because it didn't look right. This small, low feature unit is all you need and by the way the screen has tremendous zoom in out ability. If you have a trip coming up BUY ONE TODAY!

I bought the Magellan Roadmate GPS because the viaMichellin I had owned for 4 months stopped working. They would not repair it so I went to a name I can trust, Magellan. My unit has performed without a flaw and I highly reccommend it to anyone. It gives me the instructions at least 2 miles in advance of a turn. On a freeway at 75 mph this is very important. The unit is light and the screen s ery easy to read. I love it!

Really frustrating that Magellan makes it so hard to open case. No screws, case sealed. Can't access battery, which would be like $12.00 on ebay to replace. Otherwise when working the unit was often irritatingly slow and incorrect.

Update: you can open, rubber plugs cover up screws. Problem was USB port broke on the inside. Will up my rating a bit. And buy a solderer.

I have been using the Magellan RoadMate 1200 for over a year. I find it to be the equal of the NeverLost GPS supplied in Hertz Car Rentals. In more than 5 years of using that system, I have never been lost in many locations in the USA. I liked the 1200 so much, I bought one as a gift for my daughter. She loves it too.

I received this product as a wedding gift. It is portable, takes a while to update maps and stopped charging after a year. Not what I was expecting after a year of use. When I called the help desk, I was told since I didn't have a receipt and it was over a year (2 weeks over a year), I would have to buy a new product. They offered a preferred "loyalty" program, which for the same price as a new device you can get a refurbished model, some "loyalty" program. I don't use it everyday, just when needed, so it could have broke before a year, and I just didn't know. Spend the extra money and get a better unit.
