The retractable charger is very convenient and fits in my car like a charm. I love the design of it. HOWEVER, it charges my galaxy s3 so slow that it's hardly even useful. Using turn-by-turn navigation in my car with it plugged in actually made the battery go DOWN 1% after an hour because the charging cannot keep up with the usage. But, if you drive a lot and don't use your phone while driving, those extra few percentages could be helpful.

If you need charging quick, not recommended.

I know it's happened to me, and I'm sure it may have happened to you you need to charge that phone or your bluetooth headset or you're on a plane and your shiny new tablet is running low on power and you don't have the charger or even if you do, you have no place to plug it in! Well, this may be a helpful item for you. This compact, lightweight battery pack carries 4000mAh of portable power. That's enough to fully charge my power hungry BlackBerry Bold 9700 over two times. It supplies it's power through two standard USB ports and you can use them both simultaneously. I've already used it to charge both my Cowon S9 and my BlackBerry Bold 9700 at the same time! I also used it to power my HP TouchPad last night when it's battery was getting low the Belkin didn't have enough power to flat out charge the TouchPad, but it could run off this external battery for hours. For most devices I use today, plugging into this portable battery is the same as plugging them into their charger. The important thing to consider is that this device supplies USB power. So if your phone or GPS or bluetooth or whatever has a mini or micro USB plug, you can likely power it or charge it from this battery. But if your portable devices require an older-type power plug, usually some type of barrel connector (round), this portable battery will not work for you. The Belkin battery pack charges in about three hours and there are four bright blue LED lights to indicate the charge level of the battery. And that brings me to the only thing I don't like about it it comes with a large, obnoxious wall transformer to charge itself with! It is ironic when you consider how slim and compact this battery pack is, that it should come with such a large, foul wall tranformer! For me, it pretty much kills traveling with the transformer. That power adapter needs to be much smaller IMO. Aside from that gripe, I can see keeping the battery charged and throwing it into my attache case. It's a little extra piece of mind knowing I have extra power with me if I need it for my phone, my pad, my gps, my bluetooth headset or my music player!

Update: 2011-02-21

The reason for this update was to remove a star from my rating (three stars down from four) based on the price of this unit (currently $99). Comparable units with a similar size, weight and even higher capacity are down to as little as $25. I simply cannot justify the price of this unit in comparison.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This device proved itself to be very useful and showed that it works quite well. I charged it as the instructions say for 8 hours before first use, and then it takes about 3 hours to charge after that. It has 4 blue LEDs on it that blink and when all 4 are solid that indicates a full charge. As it decreases the amount of lit LEDs drop so you are always aware of how much charge the device is holding. This is a good indication function. It is charged by using the AC power cord that comes with it, and it also has 2 USB cables with different size ends on them for use on devices that have different sized charging inputs on them.

I took it with me when I was out with my 2 nephews when they visited. One of them has a Metro PCS phone that he texts constantly on, and the other has an iPod that is attached to him at all times. I was able to use the Belkin 4000 to not only recharge both those devices but my Kodak Easy Share M580 digital camera as well during our day out. Now the devices were not at total dead battery, but very low, and the Belkin boosted them all up for use for the entire day. Having this saved the trouble of needing 3 separate power cords and use of an AC outlet. Also the Belkin has 2 USB charging outputs so you can charge 2 separate devices at the same time, which is also a plus as this eliminated them fighting over who was gonna get their device charged first and who would have to wait. Not having to listen to 2 teenagers fighting is a blessing in itself.

Also the size of the device is good, it is small enough to travel easily yet not so small it can be misplaced by accident.

The only reason I didn't give this product a 5 star rating is due to the fact that the AC power adapter that is used to charge the device is much larger than it needs to be and the design of it is not great. A 12 volt DC charger can be made much smaller, and also the charger has what is called a 'barrel connector' that slides onto the AC device that actually has the prongs on it that allow it to plug into the wall. It is my opinion this extra piece is not needed, the AC adapter should have prongs on it like a regular plug and not need a small slide on attachment that can get lost or damaged making the cord useless. Also the price for the device is a little high. However, Belkin makes quality products and maybe the higher price compared to others is due to the fact it works better and holds a charge longer than the cheaper models similar to it. This I am not sure of.

I find this to be a very useful device, and great for the person who might need to recharge something while not near a power source or without the cable at the time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was recently gifted an iPod Touch which I soon discovered drains its battery fairly quickly. So it was perfect timing when I was able to snag one of these a few days later. On the packaging it claims to provide 4 cell phone charges or 2 smart phone charges. Here are the results I got:

1) iPod Touch charged from 20%->100%

2) iPod Nano charged from 0%->100%

3) iPod Touch charged from 0%->100%

4) iPod Touch charged from 15%->50%

At that point the Power Pack finally ran out of juice. So it does deliver as promised.

It's very compact, only marginally bigger than an iPhone 4. That makes it ideal for tossing into a backpack and carrying around for spare power. It has a nice black matted finish. I forgot to time it exactly, but it took roughly 3 hours to fully charge. As another reviewer noted, the power adapter is pretty large. It has a simple 4 led display which displays the power level. It's usually best to press the reset button when plugging in a device for charging. Sometimes it starts charging as soon as I plug in a device, other times I need to press the button first.

The one downside is that it is rather expensive compared to the competition. I haven't tried other brands, but there are alternatives that have very high ratings and cost significantly less. If it were priced more competitively, I would definitely give it 5-stars.

Update 10/22

I've noticed that the LEDs which indicate battery power aren't real accurate when the device is in use. When I plug in my iPod I often get 3-4 bars, indicating it is mostly full. But then it dies relatively soon. When I plug it back in to recharge, it shows it is charging from 1 bar, indicating I had drained it completely. This doesn't affect the runtime as it still seems to be giving me the appropriate amount of charge, I just can't depend on the indicator to accurately reflect the amount of power left.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It took me a while to figure out to how to properly use this product, but once I did, it became a pretty helpful little gadget. Yes, as other reviewers have noted, it's a bit pricey, and the AC charger/adapter is a little clunky, but the unit itself is nicely compact, just a little smaller than my iPod Classic. At first I couldn't seem to get it to charge my Android phone, till I realized you can't have the power pack plugged in and you must push the little button discretely placed on one corner of the edge of the unit. Once I got that down, it was very useful in charging my Android, iPod, Kindle and GPS. The charging time is reasonable, and I also like the feature of two USB ports, allowing you to charge two devices at a time. The LED lights that indicate remaining power in the unit is also a helpful feature. I've taken this product on its "maiden voyage", a vacation on Cape Cod, and so far it's performed quite well.

Ladies keep this in your purse for you or a men/lady friends need to Jack on... (that sounds bad) when in need of a charge. It will save the day maybe 20+ days a year and if that is true it = win.

Advertised for a 3G and the case and the screen protector clearly marked for 2G and screen protector will not work and i asked for replacements w/ appropriate merchandise and it took a couple of days for them to even respond and then when they did they said they'd ship new items but they haven't arrived in time for xmas which was totally doable on their part if they just shipped in an appropriate manner. i ordered from them -similar pckg of stuff for myself and it was a bit pricier and some more things in the pckg but it was right when it arrived and this wasn't. bummer!

Everything in the pouch is better than I anticipated. Having gone to the Apple store a few times looking for accessories I was skeptical that this many items could actually work for the price I paid. Even if it turns out that only the silicon cases and the flip cover case are the parts I use, it is totally worth what I paid for it. Silicon cases at the Apple store run about $25 and here I have 2 that seem to be decent quality and are in normal colors (black and whitish). I'm most thrilled with the flip top case because I did not originally think that type of case would work for me. Now that I'm carrying the iPod touch in my purse, it is nice to have a protection for the screen in addition to the anti-glare screen protector I bought at the Apple store. If I was not so thrilled with the cases and only had the data cable I might have given this only 3 stars. I am worried that the electrical components won't be good enough b/c they are not apple products and apple may actually have filters on what they sell. I decided to try the wall charger and USB cable anyway and it seemed to charge just fine. The only trouble is the hook on the right side of the part that slides into the iPod touch. Whereas Apple's data cable has a bump, this piece has a hook. The hook gets caught and I'm afraid it may damage that port. Yes there are buttons on the sides to retract the hooks, but the button on the right side does not work. So I may have to find a file and file down the hook if I plan to use the data cable again. At least all of the items in this package are for the iPod touch unlike the other bundle that I bought. I also bought a different bundle and it had regular iPod accessories and iPod touch accessoriesthe regular iPod accessories will be useless for me at the moment. This purchase was worth every pennyeven the shipping. Usually I only buy Prime stuff, but made an exception b/c the price + shipping seemed very reasonable.

I had been looking around on Amazon for portable solar panels for charging my devices. Many of them on here only supply 5 watts which is not nearly enough to charge an iPad. While looking for a 10 watt charger, the Mercury 10 fold out panel popped up in my search and was on Prime (fast delivery). While I haven't put this portable solar charging system through the full motions with all of my devices, I have tested it against the device I wanted it to charge, the iPad 3. I put the panel out at 11:15AM and plugged my iPad 3 in. The iPad did it's familiar little chime to let you know it's charging and it works fabulously. This is one of a very few portable solar chargers I've found on Amazon capable of generating 10 watts of power. 10 watts is required if you are looking to charge the iPad.

The package comes shipped with the fold out charging panel, a micro USB to standard A USB (flat type) connector cable and includes an Instapark® MP1800U2 5,200 mAh External Battery Pack & Charger with Dual USB ports. The included cable is very short (8 inches or so). So, you'll want to get something longer to carry around with you. For charging the iPad, you will also need to get an iPad USB charging cable to carry with you as it does not come with one. I personally like the Retract Ipod USB 2.0 Sync cable in black. The Mercury 10 solar panel has a two USB ports nestled inside of a small pouch (can charge 2 devices at once, although haven't tried this) on the back side of one panel which is big enough to hold the battery and a few cables to help recharge your devices. The ReTrak cables are the perfect size for carrying around in this pouch.

Note that there are loops all around the panel so you can hang it up on a wall, from a nail or a tree branch to get the best sun placement.

There is only one downside to this panel, if you can call it a downside. The glues they used to put it all together makes it stink badly. However, if you're outdoors using it, you probably won't even smell it. It will also probably air out in time. Indoors, you will notice the smell if it's sitting near you. That said, it seems reasonably well constructed and definitely works to charge devices.

While I have also charged the 5,200 mAH battery from grid power, I haven't fully tested the battery out, but it claims to recharge the iPad 25% in 1 hour and phones up to 75% in 1 hour. I am still holding out full judgement of this device until such a time that I can test it out fully. The fact that the panel will charge the iPad leaves me nearly certain that it will charge nearly all of my devices properly. Note that the panel only has USB connectors. So, if you want to charge non-USB type devices, you will have to find a way to convert USB to that other format. Also, I don't know how fast it charges a device so I'll still have to test this. If you're looking for a solar panel to charge the iPad, though, this one will definitely do it.

Note that because the panel does what I needed it to do, I'm rating it 5 stars. However, I may change the review later after I've put the device through more usage scenarios and I am better able to determine charging speed and abilities under various conditions. I will say this, though, the panel will not charge 10 watt devices using ambient light from indoor lighting. The panel definitely needs sunlight. For times without sunlight, this is where you would use the included battery's stored energy, so be sure to charge it up.

I purchased this setup prior to going camping and seeing phish for the weekend. As with all camping your cell phone never lasts, especially the iphone. This comes in a very nice package which is about the size of a a notebook. It folds out into the 3 panels, but also has a pocket that holds the connections to the USB connections.

I was able to put this out in the sun, and hide the phones under some shade. I went from a dead iphone to 80% in 6 hours. I will say that the first 50% charged way faster and it slowed down after it was at 50%. I was also charging a Friends blackberry with the other port.

Once everything was charged, I put it in the car with the windows cracked and put the batter in for a charge. When I got back at night and my phone was near death, I was able to pull the battery and charge the iphone from the aux batter that was charging while I was away.

This was really simple to setup. I highly recommend.

This thing works exactly the way that the product description says it does. There are 3 solar panels and in sunlight they generate 10 watts of power which are delivered to a set of USB connectors in a pouch on the side of it. There are lots of nice loops for hanging it from hooks and clever ways that it can stand angled in the sun so it gets full frontal sunlight.

I bought this as emergency equipment after the massive power outages in New York and New Jersey. I figured that if I experienced a power outage, keeping my wireless devices charged would be a high priority. And it does that. I didn't time how long it took to charge my iPad, but it was about the same speed as using the iPad's own wall charger.

My brother is a backpacker, and he evaluated it as a piece of backpacking equipment. It's too heavy and too bulky for him. The solar charger unit itself is 9 inches x 6.5 inches x 0.5 inches except that it has a lump near one end (containing its electronics) that makes the unit be 1.25 inches thick at that point. It weighs 17.25 ounces.

The separable battery weighs 5 ounces. The device works fine without the battery and the battery works fine without the device. The purpose of the battery is to store sunlight while there is some, so that you can later charge your phone in the dark. The battery is the same thickness as the electronics lump, so that if you tuck it in to the pouch on the side of the device, its overall thickness is 1.25 inches. That combination, which is how it will be stored while it is waiting to be used, is an irregular shape that is too thick in places. There should have been a way to design the shape of the electronics lump and the battery so that it could fold up into a thinner shape that was more regular.

I ordered this product about a month ago from Amazon. It arrived a couple of days earlier than the estimated delivery date (as usual). I tested it at home to make sure every thing was working and then took it on an extended camping trip. I was very pleased with how well the system worked. Typically, I would use the charger to charge the battery during the day and then use the battery to recharge my Droid Razr that I had been using to track my hikes during the day (plug for Backpacker Pro a great app). Two days before the end of the trip, the battery quit taking a charge. This was rather disappointing, but on the sunny, clear days we were having in the mountains of Wyoming, the solar charger generated enough juice to completely recharge the phone within about 2 hours. When I got back home, I e-mailed Instapark on Saturday about the problem that I was having with the battery, and by Wednesday afternoon I had a replacement. No fuss, no questions asked. I don't know how customer service could be any better than that. The charger works flawlessly. Great customer service, and so far, the replacement battery is holding up. I am very pleased with this purchase.

i bought a solar booster pac #es5000 vehicle jump starter at a estate auction a neighbor was having...i hadn't checked the box the jump starter was in before bidding on it...won the auction for $30 on a $150+ item...upon opening it up upon return to home i found the ac adapter for charging the unit was missing...checked with the neighbor and evidently the adapter was sold separately with other misc items ...found this adapter on amazon and purchased it...so far so good...it topped off the charge to the booster pac...was around $10 cheaper purchasing on amazon then the original mfg...hopefully it will continue to work as needed when the booster pac needs topping off...

well ive had this for about a year now. i absolutely love it. definitely is not a replacement for a high torque air impact wrench. but will definitely get most jobs done. takes care of most everything under the hood except for head bolts or crank pulley bolts and the like, nor will it break loose a properly torqued lug nut. 90 percent of the work that i do, this impact definitely does the job.

First off let me say that I wished makita would have come out w this gun sooner. It would have saved me $200 from buying my snap-on gun. I've used makita electric gun before and loved it. But I digress, so far this gun is waaaaay lighter, more compact and stronger than my snap on gun. What more could u ask for? I know there are some reviewer that says its not as strong as the air gun but hey who's planning on taking crank pulley bolts off? Use the right tool for the job and get it done more efficiently. Look at the tool box of professional mechanics these days and u will see an electric gun in there somewhere. I now use this gun 90% of the time while I'm at work turning wrenches. I use this at the track to change wheels on my car. The wheel nuts are torqued to 80 lb/ft. The tool breaks them loose fine after about 2 seconds. 1. Rich in features (GMRS repeater-capable, weather channels and alerts, quiet codes, etc.)

2. Reasonably easy to use (after studying the user guide)

3. Good voice quality (clear, loud)

4. Sturdy, reliable

5. Price--very affordable

CONS:

1. Rechargeable battery doesn't last as long as I'd like. I wouldn't risk going out in to the field without extra (alkaline) batteries. If left powered on, even with light use, the battery charge won't last many hours--based on my actual use. Solution: always carry extra batteries.

2. Range under realistic conditions is probably only a mile. You should understand that this is not a fault of the radio, but is a factor of (1) transmit power, and (2) terrain. For the price, 1.5 watt transmit power is about as good as you're going to find. Pay more, get more. On water or flat (unobstructed) terrain, the range can be much greater: thus the outrageous claim of "up to 35 mile range." My complaint is that they simply shouldn't make claims like this that are theoretically possible but practically impossible. Again, not a fault of the radio itself.

The abundance of features, and the fact that I don't use these radios every day, and I have a terrible memory, required me to make a "cheat sheet" (about the size of an index card) to remind me how to use many of the features. After studying the user guide and making the cheat sheet, I was impressed at how logically the features actually work. I loaned one of my radios to a buddy (a smart guy, former military), and he was kinda lost on how to use it until I gave him a quick overview. So, it pays to study the radio before you strike out into the field and need to depend on it.

I highly recommend these radios.

People that have experience with 2 way radios know that they are good for 1/2 mile to 2 miles in good outdoor conditions, 2 ways will not reach their claims of 5,10,20+ miles. These are just a newer version of the MR355R. These are great radios, and have motorola's known clear clarity. For uses under 2 miles,closer to a mile, these are awesome, great for camping/hunting. If you can't make up your mind between Motorola or Midland, Midland gets a tad better range and Motorola's have a slightly better clearer clarity, those are the main differences between the 2 brands. I recommend the MR356R.

I purchased these portables to replace an aging Motorola, which was the best technology of its time. This model just blows the older one out of the water. I used them for the 2010 Pennsylvania buck season in McKean county. According to my GPS, I was 2.7 miles away from camp, in a deep valley, with a big mountain in front of me. I could communicate (transmit and receive) very clearly with the 2 guys at camp, one who was using the same model radio, and the other was using a slightly older model. My hunting partner and I had no problems communcating either who was about 3 miles away from me in another mountain valley. I really didn't get a chance to test their limits, but these definitely suit my needs very well. The hands free iVOX feature is great as well. A full charge of the battery, with intermittent communication, lasted over 16 hours. All in all, these are the radios you want for hassle free outdoor communication. Kudos to Motorola for the ease of use and functionality of the product. Definitely 5 stars!

I've purchased and used many walkie-talkies over the years and seen the technology evolve and become better with each new generation. These are wonderful radios. The audio is clean and clear with good punch. They are speced at 35 mile range, however this is marketing-speak for 'under completely optimum conditions' -ie., mountain top to mountain top. In real world use with obstructions (houses, trees, cars, etc) the signal is quickly absorbed and range is limited to ~2 miles. Two power positions low and high on the PTT button. They are essentially a short range radio. So if you anticipate that use, you will be satisfied.

One of the things that I really like about this radio is that it will hit the GMRS repeater frequencies, where most will not. (License required -Our license is WQNR625) A repeater extends the useful range of communication for many miles. We have purchased a GMRS repeater for our church emergency preparedness use and will use these radios for our emergency preparedness communication.

Another handy feature of these radios is that they will receive the National Weather Station. You just push and hold the + sign button for 3 seconds and you have continuous weather coverage. Very handy when camping, etc.

I did allot of research on these radios prior to my purchase, but didn't see any reviews on the ear bud jack. It turns out that the ear bud will not stay in the radios. I contacted Motorola and they indicated that all the MR 350s, MR 355s and MR 356s have this issue. They recommended that I "hold" the ear jack in place when using the headsets.

I purchased this for my motorola i1. A phone that drains a battery like crazy and I always need to charge. After finding this car charger here on Amazon, I will NEVER purchase another one anywhere else. I pay one eighth for this charger here than the price that the phone carrier store charges for the same exact thing and thats including shipping! When I have purchased car chargers from somewhere like a department store, like the one that has the smiley face for one of their logos, the chargers from that store have somehow broke, even when the box that they come in says lifetime warranty. Which is rather a pain in the butt for me because when you purchase one from those department stores like that and they break, you have to mail the defective product back and wait to get it replaced. I have had THIS charger for a LONG time now and it has NOT broke yet! All the ones I have purchased elsewhere broke rather quickly. I have had this charger so long that I have actually stretched the cord out to where if someone with a phone was sitting in my back seat and needed to chrage their phone they could, it would reach back there no problem. And it still works great! If you are looking for a great charger that will LAST, this is the one for you!

For such a low price we got two so we could have one for each car. At first we could not get either one to plug in to either of our two SE W760a phones. They appeared to fit, but would not plug all the way into the phone's charging port, and we did not want to exert the extraordinary force it would have taken to push the plug in farther. We have used various headsets, wall chargers and USB cables with our two phones and we know how much force it should normally take, and what this plug seemed to require was clearly excessive. And we also know how fragile this phone's charging ports are, and how vulnerable they are to breakage over time from just normal use (I have already had to repair mine with a soldering iron). I felt like I should return them, but quickly realized that we paid more for postage than the item itself, and unlike Amazon items, postage is not refundable from this source, so it would have cost more to ship them back than the refund amount.

Upon further inspection, however, it appeared to me that the little plastic loop clips that hold the plug in the socket are stiffer and more resistant to being pinched the way they would normally work than the others I have used, perhaps due to being made slightly thicker or with less flexible material. In any case, what I did to solve the problem was to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to gently pinch the plastic clips in the middle (more towards their base, not tip) to exercise them and flatten them slightly, doing this about 20 times so that the two sides would barely touch, while being careful not to crush the rounded tip. After this, the plug went into the phone without too much force and seems to stay plugged in. Whether this will be a permanent or adequate fix remains to be seen, but I thought I would pass this along as a suggestion for anyone who runs into the same issue and may want to try this as a possible solution. It seems to work for me, at least for now, but I can't guarantee it will work for you. I have also considered cutting one side of the plastic loop clip all the way through near its base to allow it to flex more near the tip that plugs into the phone, but chose to try this less drastic measure first, and save that as a backup plan.

This is the only issue we have noticed so far, without a full charging test yet.

Bought this charger based on the photo provided. Title lists that it fits LG phones and is an OEM charger. But I received a Motorola charger. So much for the info about using a OEM charger to not void your warranty (not sure it would anyway). The charger does have the right plug on the end of it though and it works fine. the description is just misleading.

The product was delivered in a very timely manner. However, it was defective as in it wouldn't charge my LG Nitro. Getting it replaced was very easy through Amazon's instructions and the replacement worked perfectly! Even though the first delivery didn't work I still give it a five-star because it works well, and I feel good that it is an LG product.
