Why I like this tire inflator:

1. It plugs into any 120 volt outlet. I have 12 volt inflators and they have their place, but cannot compare to this unit.

2. It's fast. I just inflated a wheelbarrow tire from 5 psi to 30 psi in about 45 seconds.

3. The pressure gauge is accurate. One of my 12 volt inflators is off by 10 psi (under).

4. The screw-on valve is not as bad as you would think. It will only bleed one or two psi off a normal tire while its removed.

5. The screw-on valve is far superior to the clamp-on type. I feel that more air is lost when unclamping. Also, the wheelbarrow valve stem was too short for a clamp-on.

6. It comes with numerous inflation adapters.

What I don't like:

1. I would prefer a ball-type valve rather than the screw-on.

2. It seems to struggle as it approaches 30 psi. I worry that it won't be able to handle the 70 psi required for my bicycle tires. Nowhere in the operator's manual or on the box does it give the maximum pressure rating. The pressure gauge goes up to 150 psi, but that's meaningless.

Overall I'm very pleased. It should do just fine with normal tire pressures up to 38 psi.

My old model Bon-Aire BA121L 120v gave up on me after only 2 seasons of light use so it was time to invest in another air inflator. I wanted one that was 120v as I was not comfortable with the pumps that run off your car charger. I've only used this a couple of times, but I can see that this is a much more solid inflator than my previous one.

When you turn it on it sounds solid, there are no moving parts so this should last longer than your conventional inflators, it's much quieter than my old pump and it pumps quicker too.

The only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not five was because it uses a screw on valve to pump tires on my cars. I personally like the snap on type of valve because it's easier and quicker, but I do find that with screw on valves it loses less air from the tires when you unscrew it.

This is a perfect air pump. It inflates tires quickly and relatively quietly. The gage is very accurate. I checked it against a couple of others that I own so will rely on it from now on. It seems to be well made with no defects noted. I am looking forward to many years of use. I have been disappointed with others especially the ones that rely on a battery or 12V cigarette connection. They often blow fuses and knock out other things in the car. Never again. I would say buy with confidence. It only works with american type tire valves. It has an adapter for euopean valve stems but would not work on my bike.

I had looked on line for the perfect inflator that could be plugged in to an outlet. I have one front tire on my lawn tractor that deflates between mowing. The first two times I used it I couldn't have been happier. The third time when I turned on the switch it didn't make a sound. I thought it might be the outlet but it wasn't so the unit I purchased worked only twice before breaking down.

I was hauling out my 45 pound air compressor to fill up the tires, and this makes it 1,000 times easier. It's a small unit, the size of a football, and it weighs probably only about 8 to 10 pounds. The blue cord stretches out surprisingly long, and the main adapter screws down tight over tire valves. You screw it on, flip the switch, and wait for the reading you want. Easy.

It does inflate a car tire rather slowly. To take a car tire from 26 psi to 35 psi took me about 45 seconds to a minute. That's not terrible, but it's noticeably slower than the pump at the gas station. Still, you can do the whole car, even with moving the unit, in under 6 or 7 minutes, and that's not bad at all. The gauge seems to be dead-on, and the unit feels heavy and well built. With gas at $4.10 a gallon it's very nice to make sure the tires are rock hard and giving you every last mile you can squeeze out.

I thought about getting one of those cigarette lighter jobs, but then I kept reading about blown fuses and so forth. I got this for the garage and stuck an old bike pump in the trunk. The bike pump is for roadside emergencies, and no blown fuses and some good exercise with that.

I recently bought a NOCO charger and was very impressed with it. I thought that this would be a really good addition.

The fuse holder is so big that there is no way to fish it through your firewall without either drilling a large hole or cutting the fuse holder off.

The led charging indicator doesn't appear to be accurate at all.

The cable that comes on the unit is not nearly as long as it needs to be.

I am very happy with the charger, however I would recommend the quick connector instead of this battery indicator.

I really wanted to like this charger: Schumacher XC103 SpeedCharge Battery Charger with Engine Start. On paper it seems to do everything I need. The big problem is that it keeps generating an F06 error code when charging on the Fast Charge Rate setting. The manual says this means "The charger detected that the battery may be getting too hot (thermal runaway)." and that "The charger automatically shuts the current off if it detects the battery may be getting too hot or the battery may have a shorted cell. Have the battery checked or replaced." This means the charging is stopped before the battery is fully charged.

The charger generates the F06 code on two different brand new batteries. Also, if I use the Slow Charge Rate setting the same batteries charge just fine so I do not believe that the batteries are defective. There must be something wrong in the charging logic for the Fast Charge Rate setting.

I tried several times to get Schumacher customer support to help me resolve the problem. The Schumacher support staff is useless. They kept sending me the section from the manual that describes the F06 error code. I already knew this information; which I carefully explained on my initial e-mail to Schumacher and on all subsequent e-mails to Schumacher. They persisted in not answering any of my questions, but just resent the F06 error code section from the manual. When I finally insisted that the charger must be defective Schumacher finally agreed to replace the charger with a new or refurbished charger. Since I just bought the charger a refurbished charger was not an option in my opinion.

Another annoyance is the poorly designed cord storage system. Both the AC and the charging cables are very stiff making them difficult to coil. I'm not sure why the cables need to be this stiff. My old charger had cables that were much easier to coil and stow. In addition the two posts provided for cable storage on the back of the unit are totally inadequate for the task; they simply cannot hold both sets of cables (they barely hold just the AC cable) and it's way too much trouble to try and coil the wires around these posts. The only solution I found was to not use the cable storage posts at all and simply coil the wires. I then used a piece of twine or a velcro strap to keep them coiled (all in all this is a nuisance).

Based on thes problems and the extremely poor customer service, I regretfully decided to return the charger to amazon.com for a full refund.

The charger works great at charging up my auto car batteries. For a nearly dead battery (0.9 volts), it did not seem to charge as it should for the initial charge (shut down after a while and said it was at 80% charge). I then charged a 2nd time (actual charge at startup was then 40 %), and it charged it correctly. Most batteries charge within 1.5 hours time for autos. The LED yellow lights are very hard to see in the sunlight (they should change the color of these). My only complaint is that the clamps are low quality (cheap) and they should charge a few more dollars and install heavy duty (stronger) clamps.

I very much wanted to like this charger. After reading the reviews it was clear that trying it was a risk. It was one of the few that looked like it would charge an Optima Red Top 6V AGM battery.

Today I took my brand new (as in FedEx is still on the street) charger and hooked it to my equally new battery. Set it to "AGM" since that's what I have. Hooked up the clamps and it recognized the battery as 6 volts. Set it to "turtle mode" (low rate charge) to see what it would do. After about 4 minutes at 6V rather than deciding the battery was charged, it decided I have a 12V battery. Charge percentage went to zero and it showed 12V not 6V. I quickly pulled off the cables (they were warm).

Next I grabbed the Fluke 89 IV to see what's going on. Battery voltage with no charger was 6.426 volts. Set the charger to "snow flake" (trickle). Battery was recognized as 6V. It started doing something. After about 20 seconds the battery terminals were up to 9 volts. ThIe clamps read the same 9V. The internal voltmeter in the charger shows 6 volts. This is not a good thing. Optima (and most outfits) do not like you putting 9 volts on a 6 volt battery. Big spark when I pulled the clamp, so it's running a bit more than low current.

So what's going on? It's doing a high voltage cell equalization charge on an AGM. In the process of that it's getting confused about weather it's got a 12V or a 6V battery. You can do your own research about equalization on AGM's. Mine says it's not a good idea.

I put a (also brand new) Exide Road Force 12V AGM on to check this out. Set it to trickle and AGM. It recognized the 12V battery and took it up to 17.3V. I left it on and it droped back to 15.5V until full charge. It then went down to around 13.5V.

This thing *likes* to equalize AGM's. Double checked several times to be sure the AGM light was still on. Interestingly, to keep from alarming people, they don't show the 17.5V on the "battery voltage" display. They clamp it at 6 or 12 volts while they are monkeying around. The voltmeter is only accurate when it's not in charging mode.

Just for fun, I grabbed another (also brand new) Exide Road Force 12V AGM. This time I set the charger to "GEL" and "Trickle". The battery still zooms up to above 17V. It does not stay there as long as the AGM setting. It drops back about 14.5V on the second stage. The GEL setting does indeed do *something*. Weather you want to do this to your GEL cells is up to you. It's not clear weather the initial zoom charge is timed or current limited. Either way not good for GEL cells.

Bottom line only use this at 6V if you *really* like to blow up batteries or are going to watch it like a hawk (and have a voltmeter). It's probably fine for flooded (put water in them) batteries. It may / may not be a good idea for AGM's. I would not use it on GEL's.

Had better gauge, at a cheaper price because of it's 3 outlet. Nice and extra long and durable. Had absolutely no problems with it. Great cable brand have bought them before. Mine did not have a safety cover for the middle plug. Which is a little annoying. But I guess if you not using any of them it shouldn't be plugged in lol.

Still great chord, no problems at all, even under very high loads chord did not even get warm.

This power adapter for the Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS fits well into the GPS itself via the USB port (not in the dashboard mount stand, as does Garmin's own car power supply). This adapter cord is able to supply power to different types of devices, because it has interchangeable "power tips" that plug into it, increasing its versatility (it comes with one tip & others are available at extra charge). It has an on/off switch to conserve the batteries when not in use. It's a great idea for people who want to use the GPS for walking or bicycling. It's also great as an emergency power back-up in case your car adapter receptacle or power cord malfunctions. My only complaint so far is that it's a bit flimsy. The plastic is thin & bends easily, & one battery spring (of the four) causes the battery to pop up (closing the case presses the battery into place). I've used it only a couple of times so far, so I can't comment on its durability, but for the price, it should be made of sturdier plastic.

My Garmin Nuvi 750's battery would not hold a charge. If you check the Gamin website you'll find they don't sell battery replacements. I guess they expect us to buy new Garmins. I wanted to look at the battery before buying this kit, but was unable to find the right size star-screwdriver. This kit comes with a screwdriver, prying tool, battery, and CD that shows you how to replace the battery. It was easy to replace the battery and now my Garmin's battery can hold a charge. This kit is definately worth the money!

Received the kit and installed the battery today. This part of my review will be only on the kit and installation of the battery since I have not had time to do a real duration test of it. Therefore, this portion of my review will not cover the life of the battery.

The kit came with two screw drivers: a Philips head and a star head. The screws on my 750 were star-head, so there must be some out there with Philips head ones.

The DVD that came with the kit is adequate and basic but could have covered a few additional issues, hence the four star rating. The first was the difficulty of getting the back off the GPS unit. The kit comes with a plastic pry tool that you use to remove the back after removing the screws; however, the back on mine was a lot more difficult to remove than the one in the video. After about four or five tries, it finally yielded and came off. Removing the actual battery was also a lot more difficult than shown in the DVD because of the double-sided tape holding it in. The DVD demo showed the old battery merely falling out. Some reviewers remarked that there was no mention of double-sided tape being required for the new battery [the piece on the old battery would not come off it] because it would rattle around inside the GPS without it. Since the tape I had would have been very difficult to remove if it prevented the back from being replaced, I decided to try it without the tape first. As it turns out, I didn't need the tape at all; the new battery fit snugly in. Therefore, I recommend trying it without the tape first.

The new battery came about two-thirds already charged, and I re-charged it for about two hours to the four-bar level. I then ran a two-hour simulated trip, and it was back to about two-thirds. At the time of this writing, it has been on for about two hours and forty-five minutes and is down to about half charged.

I fully charged the battery [overnight] and ran a 4-1/2 hour simulated trip. At the end, there was still some charge left so I left it on. It lasted an additional 20 minutes for a total of 4 hours 50 min.

I was leaving on vacation when my Nuvi 750 died in the car. I was forced to replace it with a newer model because we were driving about 6000 miles. Since I really missed some of the now discontinued 750's features I ordered this replacement battery kit as soon as I got home. The kit arrived quickly. The tools were simple and the video was easy to understand. I think they could have mentioned how the original battery is stuck in really tightly using double-sided tape. The actual replacement was very easy after the battery was "unstuck". Saddly enough the new battery didn't seem to hold a charge. I was miffed and contacted Innovate88 (via email through Amazon) expecting a hassle but they couldn't have been nicer. They immediately apologized and sent another battery which has been working just fine. This product suffers from the same problem many USB chargers do: It's designed for Apple products, not for other products like Android. I find the description quite deceptive because it will NOT deliver the current one expects for most Android devices (or the HP Touchpad as well).

A little background on USB charging for those who don't know:

The USB power spec is for 0.5 Amps at 5 Volts... or 2.5 Watts. This was great up until the last couple years when devices have gotten really power hungry, particularly smartphones and tablets and to a lesser extent dedicated GPS's. Some of these devices use over 2 Amps, particularly the tablets like the iPad (or in my case the HP Touchpad).

Manufacturers of these devices therefore had a dilemma. If they had their devices pull more than 0.5 Amps, they risked damaging the power source, which could be a computer, that was only prepared to source 0.5 Amps. Thus the manufacturers have used tricks to determine whether their device is connected to an unknown source, at which point they purposely only draw 0.5 Amps, or to the dedicated charger that was provided with the device, where they can draw all the power they need.

There seem to be two common tricks used. The first is to short the two data-wires together in the charger. This is what most non-Apple devices do. Since a computer or older device wouldn't have done this, the device can assume it is safe to draw all the power it needs.

Apple seems to have taken a different approach, one that I don't fully understand but know can be seen by the fact that the data lines are neither open nor shorted when the charger is plugged in, and is more sophisticated and probably superior, because I suspect it allows the device to know exactly how much power it can use.

While Apple taking a better approach might be nice in concept, it's created chaos in the USB charger product category. What is the non-specific charger to do? They can't support both.

This device chose to go the Apple route for both ports. While the PowerGen unit I purchased (see below for links to the others I've purchasd) had the 1 Amp port setup for Android (data lines shorted) and the 2 Amp port for Apple, this device, like the others, has both setup for Apple. I don't own any high-power Apple devices, so I can't say for sure, but I suspect this unit performs well with Apple devices. Using electronic equipment I was able to draw 3 Amps when putting a fixed load on either of the USB charging ports. However, when I connect any of the 3 high-power devices I have (HP Touchpad (2 Amps), Motorola Triumph Android phone (0.85 Amps) and the LG Optimus Slider (0.7 Amps)), none of them drew all the current they could have, because they were expecting a shorted set of data-lines.

To be fair, I tested the device using power resistors to see how much power it could source. It performed beautifully. It performed better than any of the 4 I purchased (see below) sourcing well over 3 Amps without significant voltage droop. It could source it no matter which port it was from, whether it was all 3 Amps from one port or the other, or a combination that added up to 3 Amps (2 Amps from the top port and 1 Amp from the bottom as the labels claims). From that standpoint, if you have Apple products, I think you will be quite satisfied with this charger and would likely be the best choice for you (either this or the more expensive Kensington who's specs are better than this one, but in practice the deliver about the same current).

Thus this device gets 3 stars because it claims to support a number of Android devices that, while I don't have the specific ones mentioned, I firmly believe they will not work as expected. While I suspect it will work well with Apple devices including the iPad (I don't own any) I ended up returning it because it doesn't meet my needs as a non-Apple user.

For those who don't have Apple devices, I ordered three additional devices:

Neither this product, nor the Kensington were easily to open without damaging them, so they got returned, even though they had better power output (potential, not in practice) than the two I kept. Such a shame.

I've had better built car USB chargers and I really like those chargers that are nearly flush with your console, but this one still gets by. It doesn't protrude nearly as much as a 'standard' charger so points there. The blue LED is cool too, and not distracting or annoying by any stretch.

NOTE that if you're charging an iPhone, iPod or iPad (I have all three) the bottom slot won't charge iPad or iPod Touch 4th gen. The top slot will however charge all devices.

This means that if you have an iPhone (up to 4) or 3rd gen iPod, you can charge using either slot. But your iPad must go into the top slot. If I had two iPads this would be a problem, but I don't so it's not :) Just consider that before you buy. I have 3rd and 4th gen iPods for my kids so I just have to remember that one has to charge in the top slot if I want to charge both simultaniously. Or if I'm charging my iPad, it owns the top slot. Whatever. You'll figure it out. Just don't buy if you're charging 2 iPads or 2 iPod Touch 4th gens. That's it. Charges fast, I'm happy I bought.

UPDATE (7/11/2011)

Finally broke. Truth be told, I abused the heck out of it. Surprised it lasted as long as it did. So I figured I'd order another. From the looks of the picture though, it looks like they've made some improvements. It looks sturdier, looks like they ditched the blue LED, and no longer suggests that the iPad needs to be charged in the top slot. Looks like they figured out how to simply split the charge. Not sure if this is better or worse, but I'll find out. Not changing my rating. Gonna give it a shot. I ordered one of these on April 12, 2011 (with RND Power Solutions lable), and as others have reported, only one port would charge the iPad2. Still, I liked it so much I decided to order a bunch more to give as gifts. The RND Power Solutions version is "No Longer Available" on the Amazon site. But Amazon is still fulfilling this one by XTG technology which looks identical, was available and I ordered a bunch. I tested them so I could tell my friends which slot to use with their iPads and to my surprise, the iPad2 charges on either port on the ones I've just received... so it must be a new version. I've been very satisified with it.

both ports charge my ipad 2. I kinda wish one of the ports was NOT 3.1 amps as when I charged my blackberry, it charged REALLY fast and got kinda hot. Not sure if that's the best thing for it since the BB and most phones only expect to charge on a 0.5 1.0 amps.

I'm sure this charger would be great... if I had an iPhone or iPad. I have a Galaxy Nexus phone. And it charges very slowly. It will charge non Apple products, but at a max current of only 500mA. Apple chargers, such as this one, have a specific voltage on each data pin (D+ and D-) that tells your iDevice how much current is available, and to charge at high currents. For Android phones, and other non Apple devices these voltages mean nothing, your phone will see it and think it's connected to a USB port and charge slowly. The way Android phones look to see if higher currents are available (i.e. AC wall charger), is by looking to see if the data pins are shorted together (I can't say for all devices, but I know that for my Nexus and my wife's HTC Thunderbolt this is true).

If you are handy with a soldering iron you can take this charger apart and make it charge faster for your Android device. I don't recommend it, however, for just anyone. It will slightly damage the plastic body taking it apart, and you could permanently damage it. Once open find the 4 resistor that are connected to the data lines, with a continuity checker, and remove them. Then short the two center USB port pins together on the PCB, for just one of the connectors. The 2 connectors are in parallel so data pins are connected between them. Then put it back together. You'll have to use super glue to keep the plastic body closed tight. Now it will charge your phone at 1000mA.

Amazon should really change the headline for this product, as it is very misleading. It CANNOT charge just any "USB powered device" with 2.1A (tablets), or even half that (phones).

I will change to 5 stars if Amazon will fix the description to be more accurate.

After using some of the "fancier" ones, and having them bit the dust, I tried this more simple one. By more simple, it has no "pass throughs" for other components, flashlights, etc. And as a result, it only has two contact prongs, like the OEM home charger. It has worked fine so far, knock on wood! On the others, I always had to jiggle the plug around until it would make proper contact.

I have to say that this is one of the worst brand names i have bought from. First they send me a a defective charger. Also in the shipment was a tip that went to a Dell laptop computer that I didn't even own. Then they ship me a new charger and then i find out from them that my tip is non function because of a firmware change Creative just did. Well just great.... They then send me a new tip works then they send me another one of the same type!?!?!?!? After this huge mess i finaly got it working and I have to say its pretty good for what you get. It does charge much faster than the PC. Average PC charge is approx. 3-4 hours. Wall charger is 1-2 1/2. So it is good and it is portable but man does this company need to get their shipping management worked out.

I put together this setup for 108 dollars with free shipping.

The solar charge controller I was worried might be cheap, as soon as I got it (which took a while, everything else arrived Monday and this arrived thursday) I noticed the size was much smaller then how big I thought it would be, it fits inside your palm. I opened it to see what kind of circuitry is inside of it and I have definately seen cheaper made components so decided to give a go and tested the mA before and after the controller, it did seem to cut into the amount of power produced by the solar panel by at least 50 mA if not more, but the peace of mind that this controller gives is DEFINATELY worth the 12 bucks I spent.

Alligator clips are excellent

Would buy it again if I was building a setup like this again.

My RV battery kept discharging when attached to a 7 watt solar panel that I had bought. I had read somewhere that you didn't need a controller if your solar panel was less than 15 watts. I found that this was not so. So I bought this device (I actually bought two, one as a spare) and hooked it up to my solar panel. The LED indicators show when the battery is charging and when it isn't. And it also keeps the battery from discharging. I'm glad that I ordered this product.

Works great hooked up from a 8 watt solar panel to a 12v battery. Was not able to charge, and have a load at the same time. But when the load wasn't present it was charging just fine.

Product is terrific. I have purchased car chargers in the past from cell phone stores and have been charged $20.00 $25.00 per car charger. These chargers are just as good for a fraction of the cost. I highly reccomend purchasing through Amazon.
