This booster has no air compressor or light or any other fancy thing such as a radio. What is does have is power and it does what its made to dojump your car. It charges quickly and uses a a standard extension cord plug so your booster doesn't go to waste when you lose the ac adapter. It also stops charging automatically.

The first day I used it I jumped a Mercedes SUV 3 times and the battery indicator still indicated above 75%. And it had no trouble boosting the large V6 engine. In fact it still has 75% power after using it to jump 5 other cars.

This jumper is all business. No useless features like a light, compressor or radio. Heavy and well built. Better than any big box store units including Craftsman. Cables are just the right length and very heavy gauge. Starts dead 4 cylinder cars with no effort. Also jumped a Silverado 6 cylinder. Once again no problem. I will also use this to power up my 12 volt Ham handheld radio when we lose power in this area. You will need to purchase a short extension cord to charge this. Every household has one of these. The best feature of this is that you can leave it plugged in to keep fully charged. If you buy A Jump-N-Carry and leave it plugged in you will fry your jumpers battery. I highly recommend this unit.

I have owned 2 other jump starters over the years, but I've always had the problem of leaving them plugged only to have ruined them because of overcharging, so I have some experience using these kinds of units. I bought this unit almost a year ago and it has worked flawlessly! I charged it up when it arrived and didn't use it until maybe a month or so later when my Honda Odyssey's battery was dead (kids left the cabin lights on). It started the van right up no problems. Since then I have used it probably every couple months for myself or friends. One week we went camping with a few other families and the kids once again left the lights on in their respective vans. I've owned 2 others the same size, and this is the most powerful.

By Coincidence, It arrived last night, and my kid had left the car lights on all night, so my battery was completely dead today, (no interior lights or sounds, clock reset....). This Jump-Start-Battery had only charged 12 hours (not the 36 hours the stickers on the box say you need to charge before first use). 30 seconds after connecting to my dead battery, my car started in less than a second of cranking. I have a 6 cylinder 330CC motor. (I also used this on an 8 Cyl 430CC motor, with completely dead battery; Took two seconds to crank and start motor).

The Battery Cables to the clamps are Thick (this is good), the battery clamps are protected by plastic (no exposed metal to short out while stored in the trunk, which is important since this unit doesn't have a switch to disconnect Voltage to them while in storage). There is a 12V (Cigarette lighter) receptacle, Which can be used to plug in a 12V light, (This unit doesn't have a light built in, which isn't too bad, since my previous jump-starters w/ lamps built-in occasionally died when the light switch was bumped and left on by things thrown in the trunk with them). 12V receptacle is also handy for powering a 120V AC inverter, or charging Cell Phones during power outages in my home.

The Built in Charger will not overcharge the battery if left connected (some other units lack this feature).

One item I wished were included however is a power cord, this did Not have a cord to connect the unit to the wall, I purchased (and am happy with)

You might want a longer or shorter cord. A cheaper thinner gauge cord would also be sufficient for the charging.

The only complaint I have against this thing is that the cord is a tad bit short. It does the job fine, but I wish the cord was about a foot longer. Otherwise, it'd be perfect.

I had to give this 3 stars because it only lasted about a month before it went bad and stopped working. In terms of usefulness, it worked well for the first month, I could plug my ipod into my auxiliary port and keep it charged with this device, but as soon as I pulled it out of the packaging I could tell by the way it felt that it would not be a long term investment. It just feels cheap. But, you get what you pay for, and perhaps someone else will have better luck.

I suppose this charger is fine for what it is, but it is advertised to fit "US Cellular Motorola ELECTRIFY" (which is the exact phone I have). I pulled it out while on vacation to use it, and it did NOT fit -the end to plug in the phone was the wrong shape! Thank goodness for Walmart, as I was able to go there and find a charger to fit my phone, but that means I totally wasted my money on this one!

Easy start with either electric or pull, runs smooth under higher current loads like a well pump or furnace. Only installation "nit" is the battery connectors/bolts are very small and a bit frustrating and you may need to fill the tires with air (at least I did) before you move it. On the battery, I would rather they went to larger size bolts and wing-nuts like my lawn tractor.

Although I doubt there is standby battery current drain when the panel "off-on-start" switch is in the off position, the manual says to disconnect the battery when not in use so I will install a switch to take the battery out of the circuit if I confirm standby current flow that could kill it over time.

At least on the model I received, the unit has a 50 amp output along with the standard 20 and 30 amp twist locks.

The generator is quieter than most and runs the specified amount of time on a tank of gas.

With 15 hours run-time, so far... so good and I will keep this review updated as the hours of use pass.

Other notes: (the following is summarized from my Navy electronics education plus hours of searching the internet and service panel specs... consult a professional if the following is not clear and use this info. at your own risk)

The generator I received is in the "UN-bonded neutral" configuration. This is very important to know because, for most home installs, the neutral and ground should only be bonded together at one place... your MAIN service panel and nowhere else (not your generator and, if used, not your sub-panel). This keeps things safe, UL approved and your GFI's working properly. If you have a sub-panel that also switches neutral and ground, you should check its specs. to confirm the proper install method. Note: If you contract an electrician to install your unit, make sure he/she can explain bonding to you in the above manner, if they can't, get another electrician. My local "box-store" electrical guy says a lot of licensed pros. don't get this right so use caution.

As to generator bonding... there are no common standards, even from the same manufacturer (yet) so you MUST check this on anything you buy before you install. I understand there is talk of standardizing this as well as adding GFI's to the gen. sets but as of now, checking this is mandatory.

You can check your unit to confirm "bonded" or "UN-bonded" with an ohm meter. With the generator off and totally disconnected, check the neutral/ground connection at one of the twist lock plugs. If they are bonded, neutral and ground will be connected together. The generator I received was open so it is an "UN-bonded" type. Please remember that manufactures change their configurations at will so, just because I received an UN-bonded unit does not guarantee that you will.

Being UN-bonded, this configuration works with either a sub-panel, an interlock config. (back-feed breaker) or a transfer switch (as long as neutral and ground are carried back as separate wires to the MAIN panel where they are connected together) with no internal modifications.

If you get a generator that is bonded and need to UN-bond it, manufacturers typically connect/jumper neutral to ground on one of the output jacks, typically the 15-20 amp house jacks. Others do this in the generator end cap (the end where the cable comes out of the generator). Removal is easy if you know what you are looking for. I would suggest looking in the end-cap first as it is easier to access than your typical control panel. Have a professional do this if you are not sure of what you are looking for.

This generator also regulates the load voltage levels between neutral and the hot lines so, whatever you do, make sure the neutral is properly connected before you do your first test run or very bad things will happen as the generator maxes out while trying to find a return indication.

There is one hitch though. Being UN-bonded, if you are using the generator as a standalone (powering tools or a camp-site and/or running only on extension cords) you should connect the neutral and ground together in one of the twist-locks you are not using. To do this, buy an extra plug, put a jumper inside across the neutral and ground and plug it in the gen. This makes it a bonded generator and bonding at the generator now follows the rule of bonding in your MAIN service panel because, in this configuration, the generator IS your MAIN service panel.

I really can't say enough about the seller, Toolprice. I needed some support and they really bent over backwards to help me out and I would buy from them again without a moments hesitation.

8/1/2013 Update: Starts and works great, total run time of abut 48 hours during power outages.

I purchased this generator to run an irrigation well pump on a five acre fruit/pecan orchard. I have used this generator twice and have been pleased with its quite running, power output, and easy understanding instructions for operation. I give it a four star only because I'm not happy with its frame surrounding the generator. The fold down handles can make for a problem when rolling over uneven ground and after only a few hours of operation the nuts on the bolts which secure the handles tend to vibrate loose and if you don't have a wrench with you to tighten the nuts then it is even harder to roll. I would recommend this as a purchase to anyone in need of a good generator which has a large wattage output at a reasonable price but recommend purchasing lock washer and nuts for securing the handles
