This is a superior product in every category design, finish, and performance. The manual is a model of clarity, and install and setup went without a hitch. Mounting the unit, due to the weight, posed a problem, but only because I installed it in a closet, so had to mount a winch temporarily, as the otherwise required number of people could not fit in the install space. Fortunately, the unit is well balanced, so single point suspension worked fine, and the case is unbelievably sturdy so attaching was trouble-free as well.

Received the solar panal and is was not the size listed. It was 4 inches wide not 8 inches.Returned it.

It looked very sturdy and well made but was just to small.

I tested it and it's putting out something but barely enough to read on a multimeter set to 20 DC. Did a continuity check to make sure it was actually working and it is. It does work much better in full sun than in cloudy conditions. I have two batteries on my boat and keep this one hooked up to my "house" battery used for stereo, bilge, lights, lighter, ect...I have a second starting/trim battery. I recently purchased the 90 amp battery isolator NOCO IGD90HP Grey 90 Amp High-Performance Battery Isolator over a VSR as it is cheaper and seems to be working fine, even on an outboard 140 hp evinrude, although I still trickle charge it once a wk (if I'm going to take it out). Like the title states this is a battery maintainer, it may be able to maintain/charge a battery powering a few LEDs but not going to charge a larger 12V battery. You will still need to charge the battery if an alternator isn't hooked up or if you have two or more batteries being charged by a smaller alternator or stator. I will say it can take a beating as it fell off the top of my boat a few times with no damage and has been outdoors for several wks with no serious signs of wear.

SOMETHING TO TAKE NOTE OF: There isn't really any way to mount it, ther is but not out of the box. There are two short bolts without heads that thread into nuts on the back of the unit, they are about 4 inches in length and you can unscrew them and slide them up and down to make it tilt one way or the other. I was planning on mounting it to my boat, but that idea didn't work because I have a boat cover on most of the time so it is currently hanging off my ladder

I use this to keep a charge on a battery hooked to a fuel pump. So far the unit has kept up just fine with the charge on the battery. This is a far easier and hassle free way to maintain the battery versus extension cords and such.

This is a clever product. I bought it to use on camping trips. Although it worked ok, the battery took a very long time to charge and the lights are just not that bright.

Says it is compatible with the Kindle Fire but it's not. The USB plug has 2 locking tabs that are supposed to keep the plug tight into the charging jack in the Kindle. These don't line up and it won't insert. You can break one of them off and it will fit but then you get a message on the Kindle that this is a low power device and won't charge the Kindle while in use but may charge it while the Kindle is asleep. The reason for purchasing this item is obvious. The built in protective caps for the ends are a nice touch. It would be great if they would include an attached chord keeper or cable tie, as I don't need the entire 25' length most of the time. I can see no difference in effectiveness of the charger whether this extension is inserted between the charger and the leads to the battery, or not.

I use this extension to allow me to mount the Battery Maintainer on a shelf in my garage that is near a power outlet. The extension allows me to drape it in the rafters of the garage and then the connections from the battery can come down from above. Before buying this extension I had to set the battery maintainer on the radiator of my truck with its hood up and run an extension cord over for the battery maintainer to plug into. With this extension cord I can unplug the battery maintainer, disconnect the battary maintainer connections from my truck battery and drape them over to the side, shut the hood and drive away. Before it was a hastle to disconnect the battery maintainer and move it over to the side of the garage before being able to drive off. The extension is worth the money to me for that convienence.

Honest reviews on Battery Tender 081-0148-25 25' Quick Disconnect Extension Cable

I'm using this with a Black & Decker battery maintainer.

I store my collector cars during the winter and I got sick of having to charge or jump them every year. Not to mention replacing the batteries more frequently. I initially bought a style of maintainer that sat up against the battery, had short direct connections which also meant cords between the car and the wall.

Then I bought the Black & Decker maintainers. But, wouldn't you know it the leads were decent in length, but still bridging the gap between car and wall.

Then I found these extensions. Now I got the maintainers mounted on the wall, the lead and extension going up and over a truss and down to the car hood. Cool.

I bought one of these to use as a portable impact wrench for use away from home at junkyards and such, and I have to say that I am amazed at how much torque it has for a battery powered tool.

First thing I did when I charged the battery was to go out and test it on my cars lug nuts which had been put on by a tire shop last year with an air powered impact wrench, and it had no trouble at all taking them off in seconds. (I tried loosening one of the lug nuts with the lug wrench first, and had to stand on it to get it to budge, and I weigh 210 lbs so I am not a feather weight)

It does have some weight to it, but it come with a nice carrying bag for it, and the amount of time and effort it will save me pulling parts off in junk yards and for just changing tires or other quick jobs makes this more than worth its cost.

This is a definite must have tool for anyone who works on cars, tractors or anything that you need both power and portability.

Purchased this with my gift card for NewYear, got the extra battery, I have complete set of Snow tires and wheels, and doing this old way took nearly 1 hour, with this Neiko product done in under 10 mins all 4. Amazing and still left for more, I know Nascar does it 10 secs or less but hey just 1 of me !. My friend like it so much I gave him mine, and bought a second one for me from E-tools in Los Angeles, real nice people.

Best Deals for Neiko 24-Volt Cordless Impact Wrench with 350 Ft-Lbs Torque

Well i was suprised how easy it takes lug nut,s of a 2003 ford e-350 van. Being a generic brand i know that it,s not as powerful as Snap-On or a Milwaukee. And it not as powerful as the ad claims. But for the price i think it,s a pretty good deal. And so far it,s holding up pretty darn well. I use it every day at my home auto repair service. Axe nuts on front wheel drive are no problem with a fully charged battery . And the battery, well the more you use it and charge it the stronger it becomes. Pretty good impact gun, kinda large and heavy , but dependable. I would buy another one. It sell for less on Amazon than Ebay.

Honest reviews on Neiko 24-Volt Cordless Impact Wrench with 350 Ft-Lbs Torque

It has good torque and serves its purpose, but if a lug is hard to get off the tool will loose its charge before the job is done and, as is obvious, it will need to be recharged. However the quick charger makes this fact bearable. I do use it whenever I have to do work on my two cars. It's durable and seems to be well constructed. It's kinda heavy, big, and clunky, but its size and weight are tolerable based on its utility. Overall I recommend it for the part time car man who likes to tinker. I don't have the expertise or experience to make any judgments about using it professionally or on a day-to-day basis.

We purchased these to use on a cruise we were taking. When they first arrived there were several things I was grateful for. They fit very nicely in your hand and are easy for kids and adults to use. The charging plug uses one outlet but charges both devices at the same time (which is huge on a cruise ship with limited outlets).

Trying them out around town and they worked great. I sure wasn't going 20 miles but had no trouble going a couple of miles in the suburbs. On the cruise ship I was surprised at just how well they worked. We were unable to go from the top deck to the very bottom deck but could get pretty close. It made the whole trip much easier with less planning.

They provide lots of functions with a wide variety of channels and we never had an issue. The lock feature was nice so the kids didn't accidentally change channels but you do need to remember to unlock it before you are able to turn it off.

Overall, a great value for the cost, if your looking for long distances you will need to spend more.

First off, anyone who knows radios knows no radio of this size and output can achieve the range they claim in the city, mountains, or forested areas. If you are on a lake, you can expect very good range. Anywhere else, forget it. So, I didn't expect anything else from these.

These are my third pair of Cobras. I bought my first pair 8 years ago and they are still working well. I keep them for emergency communication for our neighborhood's disaster preparedness committee. In our last mock exercise we used them to coordinate neighbor safety checks up to a range of two miles. They worked quite well.

Cobra is a well made radio. My only dislikes in the 225's are:

#1the volume control button. I prefer the kind with a volume knob on the top to turn the volume up and down with a twist of a knob, like my first and third pair have, and these radios are a little small for my big hands. Other than that, they are as good as any other I have had.

#2Cobra has downsized the batteries from AA to AAA making battery change-outs more frequent than before.

#3The rechargeable batteries are useless, in my opinion, especially in the field where recharging is not an option. First, they take way too long to charge in-radio, and they die quickly. I use alkaline batteries exclusively. I buy a brick of batteries at Costco. Much better in my opinion. If you insist on rechargeables, then buy another set and a charger for them to keep on charge while you wear down the current set in less than 8 hrs (standby time).

#4Unlike some (much) more expensive hand held radios, you cannot use your Cobras while they are on the charger. That's too bad because these radios make excellent VOX operated "baby" monitors. Our ten year old granddaughter recently had back surgery requiring her to stay in bed upstairs for several days. The batteries always died overnight, so she had to wake up and send her little sister downstairs to get her mother or dad. Plugging them in renders them useless, so again we resorted to high quality alkalines.

Best Deals for Cobra MicroTalk CXT225 20-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio

Edit after 1 week of use: I've upped my rating from 2 stars to 3. Read on for details...

As others have mentioned, these radios, like all other FRS radios, won't communicate further than 2-3 miles in hilly terrain when used in FRS mode (note that these radios do have a more powerful "GMRS" mode that will probably allow communication over greater distances, but which requires an FCC license to use!)

The rechargeable batteries (300 mAh each) included with these radios are pitifully weak they do not last a full day when the radio is used continuously. I have ordered a set of Eneloop Batteries (800 mAh each almost 3 TIMES the capacity of the originals!) to replace them, but suspect the radio's charger probably won't work with the eneloops, due to a sensor contact in the battery compartment to sense only the ORIGINAL batteries. I will update this review once I find out for sure.

Setting these radios up to work with other FRS radios is not as complex as I had originally thought, PROVIDED YOU READ THE MANUAL IN DETAIL! The trick is understanding that there are TWO DIFFERENT TYPES of privacy codes (CTCSS codes and DCS codes)! Setting up channel 11 to use digital code 27 is not enough; you have to be sure the 27 you've selected is the same privacy code TYPE used on your other radios!

The squelch on these units should be adjustable. Granted there's a way to manually disable the squelch, but it's clunky and a squelch adjustment would be much better.

I don't like the fact that the charger plugs into the headphone jack! So you cannot use/listen to these radios while they are charging!

----------

I have two pretty significant gripes with these radios for use on the FRS band that you'll definitely want to consider before you make your purchase. Note that I did NOT use the radios on the more powerful GMRS band.

I bought these radios to use while skiing with my parents and brothers families. We like to be able to ski separate trails, then hook up back at the bottom, and FRS radios are GREAT for this. Both brothers and my Dad already had various other FRS radios, so I bought these assuming they'd be easy to set up to the same channel and code as everyone else's. Bad assumption. The instructions are not super-clear, and there's a single "Mode" button that forces you to cycle through every setting just to make a change to the setting you're interested in. Add to that the fact that the instructions are very brief, and there's nothing explaining how to match these radios to other FRS radios and you can plan for this to take at least an hour and probably more time than that (if you're ever able to get them to talk to the other brand radios)!

After much frustration I finally managed to get them working with everyone else's. I then plugged the radios in and charged them overnight (about 12 hours). In the morning when I left to ski, my radio indicated a full charge. By 3 PM the radio was nearly dead. But not quite dead... I could still receive, but could not transmit; instead of transmitting, the radio double-beeped at me whenever I pressed the transmit key. As a result, I was unable to hook back up with my ride at the end of the day, and had to resort to paying $11 at the base lodge ski shop for 4 AAA Duracels with which I was able to connect back up and get a ride home.

One other annoyance is that when the radios are in "Locked" mode (which prevent accidentally changing the settings) you can't tune to the weather band you have to "unlock" the radio to listen to the weather.

I'm charging these radios again tonight, this time with them turned off (I think they were on while charging last night)... so we'll see if they last any longer... but until I find out for sure, I'm carrying my $11 spare Duracell AAA batteries with me...

Honest reviews on Cobra MicroTalk CXT225 20-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio

I have been using this product for a while, and it is working fine, except for the range is no where near the 20 miles. I would say it works within 1 mile, and that's about it. Otherwise, it is a good product with no other problems.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Cobra MicroTalk CXT225 20-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio

I received these only yesterday, and tried them out right away. I'm impressed by their look and feel. They're very compact, the buttons are all rubber, and the screen is clear and easy to read, especially when its' display light is on. This radio is very easy to figure out. The mode/power and channel buttons are used to change almost all of the settings. When broadcasting, a volume setting of about 6 (out of 8 max) is loud enough to hear my broadcasts from other radios very well. The wx band has MUCH higher volume than communication bands. Do yourself a favor, and before switching to the weather band, TURN THE VOLUME DOWN. I almost broke my eardrums by leaving the volume on 8 while switching to wx.

After 10 seconds of no communication, these go into battery saver mode. The manual says they go 8 hrs on a full charge. I read 10 hours on a review posted by an owner. The only thing I don't like about these radios, is the fact that there is no battery life indicator. The only thing it has is a low battery level indicator. So until the included rechargeable AAA batteries hit that low power, you have no idea where they're at. The batteries take 15hrs to fully recharge.

I tested the range of these only slightly. I communicated to someone in my house while i walked approximately .4 of a mile on a winding road down a very steep hill , with tall trees, terrain, and apartment buildings as obstacles. In other words, in no way was it line of sight. My voice was clear for the person all the way on both frs and gmrs channels.

Finally, the length, including the antenna, is about 5.75 inches. The body alone is about 3.90 inches, and the width at its' widest point is 2.50 inches. I would definitely recommend these radios, as they are inexpensive, and surpass my expectations. I plan on using these for shopping trips with family, and while caravanning.

I needed some portable power for a small halloween parade float. This inverter lit the lights and powered the boom-box.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Nice inverter. Fan only runs when it needs to. I've run coffee makers, some power tools with it, fans, lights, etc. This year I ran our Christmas float rope lights through it. Less than 500W load. It was great. While other groups were toddling down the main street with a big noisy generator running (with loudspeakers trying to get the music out over the generator noise) we were rolling along in silence able to hear each other, talk to the bystanders and so forth.Nice added safety margin too if there was an emergency we would be able to hear someone tells us to stop (for example if a child ran out in the street or someone fell off of the float).

There is just about always a 12V solution to most of my needs but I don't generally own those solutions. I know I can buy 12V lights, or a 12V coffee maker or a 12V tool but rather than do that I just use this inverter instead. I can even run my Milwaukee 3/4" drill and Sawz-All with this inverter which makes going to the junkyard fun. Can't run with the tool on a heavy load/100% throttle but it gets the job done. When I do these trips I take my larger 1000W inverter now.

I've owned another brand inverter since 1994 and it died this year b/c the person I loaned it to did not follow the instructions always connect the black ground cable first and disconnect it last. Don't let the two DC power leads touch each other b/c the inverter will still have an internal capacitor charged and short circuiting it may fry something. And of course don't ground the A/C plugs (what would normally trip a circuit breaker in a house). I'm not sure what they did to the old 300W inverter but they killed it. Definitely worth reading the instructions.

This newer inverter did not mention these safety concerns but I live by these rules.

the lighter plug wire is very short.

but overall works.

the wires that connect to the battery are falling apart where they connect, (the rubber)

Great product. I am one that has many gadgets and to have a charger that doesn't have cords everywhere, its great! Perfect to put in the small cubbyholes in your car or truck..

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

The Charger is great first off, the retractable wire makes it look much less congested. My only complaint is that sometimes, the charge will go out. I unplug it, and plug it back in, and its still out. I have to unplug my cell phone then unplug the charger then re-insert.

I was hoping I could just keep it in all the time and just shove my phone in, but sadly that isn't the case. Charges the cell phone fine though. I have the Sprint HTC Touch Pro fyi.

Edit March 23, 2010

I lowered the rating to 2 stars, because the charger doesn't work 3/4 the time. You have to constantly move around the Charger and pull and retract the cord to get the charge back up. The charge is also very slow, but that is expected with a retractable cord. Overall, I would vote to avoid this product, it only charges 1/4 of the time.

Edit July 14th, 2010

As of July 14th, I have thrown this charger away. This is a HORRIBLE charger! When you plug it in, it will show it as charging for a few seconds then die out and never come back. This charger was never tossed around, I never switched it in cars and treated it badly, it was plugged in 100% yet still failed.

Horrible Horrible Horrible

I have owned the Dewalt 1/2" Impact Wrench for several years. When I recently decided to do my own service on my 1.1/4 ton truck, I found out that the Dewalt just didn't have what it takes to loosen tire lug nuts. Enter the Milwaukee...

There is almost no way to describe this thing to you. First, it's BIG. It's not going to be the only Impact Wrench you own, because there are a lot of places it plain won't fit.

Second, it's HEAVY. Trying to hold this thing over your head to remove bolts requires some serious muscle. Not for the weak or faint of heart.

Finally, it's strong. Those lug nuts I was mentioning? Eight per wheel, and 32 total? This thing zipped the nuts off so fast I thought I had slipped off the first one! Took all 32 off, then a few hours later put all 32 back ON with one charge of the battery!!

And speaking of the battery some genius at Milwaukee deserves a gold star. Remember when I said it won't fit certain places because of its size? Well, Milwaukee designed it so the battery can slide on from the front of the tool, or slide on from the back, and it works either way. Putting it on from the front makes the wrench shorter overall if a little front heavy while putting it on from the back gives you more room to get your wrench into tight spots by moving the battery pack out of the way.

BE WARNED that you should make certain you have a good set of impact sockets to go with this wrench. DO NOT attempt to use it with a standard socket, as you are likely to end up with shrapnel flying everywhere when the regular socket fails. Ask me how I know?!!

Bottom line the tool is a little big for 'average' wrenching, but when you need to go after the big boys there is nothing like it!

I was skeptical about buying this tool. A lot of money would be wasted if it didn't perform as advertised. I placed my trust in Milwaukee's reputation. When a negative reviewer has only one review to his credit and that review is negative that tells me that the reviewer is 100% negative and I disqualify his input from my decision making. When my 100psi impact wrench began failing to break free 15/16ths-inch cutting-blade nuts on a 1500-pound commercial mower, I knew more power was needed. Laying on my back under a raised cutting deck and pushing a 15-inch box-end wrench with a pipe extension with both feet and while pulling another such setup with both hands above the deck left me with an aching back for a month, but the 12-inch blade bolt and nut did come loose. Never again. After 8 months of use and a dozen blade changes, my worries have vanished. It takes about 15 seconds to break the nuts loose. The first time I used it and the nut didn't break free in 3 seconds my heart sank. Then it lifted. I was surprised that there is no reverse torque. I was expecting this wrench to kick like a mule after reading the break-dancing comment. One hand is all that is needed. I've removed lugs from trucks and cars and tractors. No problems. Another impressive fact is that I can remove 20 lugs on a vehicle and still have all four red power indicator lights burning on the battery. Granted, there are impact wrenches made for 18-wheelers and tanks that are rated in the thousands of foot-pounds of torque, but this 28V Milwaukee slid under the wire for me. It is about all the power I need. Every year I hear about a compressor exploding and causing injury or death. Perhaps condensation had accumulated inside the tank for years and rusted the walls. Compressor tanks do need to be drained. And fighting hoses can be like wrestling an anaconda. So far, my 28V impact wrench has not exploded, tripped or choked me. And it hasn't bitten me either because it does the job and for me that makes it worth the price.

I've had this tool for about 18 months ago. It has performed above expectations. On one battery it will remove 8 1/2 wheel lug bolts 4 5/8 gear box bolts and replace all on a center pivot sprinkler tower . Some of the towers we have worked on have been running in water for over 15 years without a bolt being turned(it would be the equivalent of changing four tires on a 3/4 ton pickup). It is a substantial tool but the weight packing it to the job is more than made up by the effort it saves at the job site. For quick jobs it is easier than dragging hoses and a air impact gun. It won't replace a good 1/2 drive air impact gun but it is a great addition to any tool box

Honest reviews on Milwaukee 0779-22 V28 28-Volt Lithium Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Impact

I just got the 0779-22 unit. I bought this unit after comparing it to the Dewalt 18v wrench. (Dewalt is coming out with a 36v, 325ft-lb wrench.) The biggest selling point was the variable speed capability of the Milwaukee. I have used this for a weekend of racing. Performed a few tire swaps and service on the trailer with ease, approx 60 cycles of lug nuts at 87ft-lbs., 50% batt usage. Use of a torque stick makes tightening a breeze.

It took me a few cycles to get used to the action....it can't quite compete with my IR231 pneumatic wrench, but I am very impressed non the less.

The 0779-22 kit is a capable tool and I for one, am very satisfied.

This is my 2nd Hitachi power driver....same one. I had my 1st one for over 3 years , which I totally rely on for work as a PC tech. The forward / reverse switch started getting sticky. I will be sending it in under its life time warranty for repair (a big plus). The new model apprantly is a little thicker with a grip and almost an inch longer....the switch feels better...comes with a brighter LED light...and overall its more quieter / smoother. There's a lot of torque...too much even @ the lowest setting (1) for my personal use most of the time. I also use it for personal home jobs...which has the potential for heavy duty functions. The battery life is good....and uses the same type. It only takes 30 minute for full charge. Great tool!

Before getting into the review, I need to comment that I am a stickler about my tools. I tend to find one brand that has a great reputation, works well for me and proves reliable, and then I usually stick with that brand. Over the past 20 years, I've been particularly pleased with both my Porter Cable and Bosch acquisitions and have centered my tool acquisitions around these fine brands.

After much deliberation, I decided to get the Hitachi DB3DL2 instead of the Bosch PS10-SA. While the Bosch has excellent reviews and a deserved reputation for being extremely powerful, it was a bit "too much" for what I was seeking to do with a small and compact driver. When I need major drilling or driving, I'll always turn to my big PC 19.2V drill/driver. But, when I want a small driver for general light screw driving around the house, I need something that is fairly compact, light, but still plenty powerful. But, not TOO powerful. And, many of the reviews on the Bosch stated that the PS10-2A was just a little too big, and a little too powerful (in fact, it apparently has a reputation for stripping or over-torquing screws).

While I have seen many different Hitachi tools (with very happy owners), I had never really considered purchasing one for fear of going with a new brand. Also, the 3.6V power source concerned me as being "too light, too little". But, I decided to give it a try with the intent on returning the driver if it didn't prove its worth. Well, this little guy is now my primary driver around the house and will be enjoying a long and fruitful life here at home. This is an outstanding tool.

First, the DB3DL2 is very light and comfortable in the hand. It drives screws in an out like a banshee, and you get a really respectable service life out of a single charge. I haven't had any problems driving screws for the installation of window blinds or tight electrical box screws. I've also driven large #8 and #6 screws into wall studs with ease. The clutch system on this driver is excellent for the small driving work for which the system was intended -very easy to dial in and find the correct torque release setting.

The LED lighting on the front of the driver is welcome for dark area work, such as cabinet installation or electrical work (where you don't have a power source for illumination). Battery installation and removal is easy, though the visual cues for battery insertion could be better (it's a hit or miss type insertion where you may have to turn the battery a little to find the correct orientation to complete the insertion). Battery charging is straightforward and only takes about an hour. The folding pistol grip is great when you need to quickly change the orientation of the driver for a little more torque, but it easily converts back to a typical straight driver configuration (which I find I use most of the time).

No real issues to report. It has been a super-reliable, very well designed and made driver which has been a welcome new tool and brand to my tool box. I won't hesitate to purchase another Hitachi tool from this point on, and will include Hitachi as another "preferred vendor", along with Bosch and PC. I highly recommend this fine tool.

PROS:

Perfect feel "in hand" light but stout, perfectly sized (even for someone with gargantuan paws such as me), and a great rubberized grip which gives you confidence when holding the driver. Excellent ergonomics

LED lighting on the front which reasonably illuminates the work area. The Bosch does not have such a light, and that was a major factor in my decision to get the DB3DL2.

Excellent clutch system which is ideally set for the light-duty torquing that this driver was intended to do. It works perfectly and is easy to dial in.

Very strong driver when you need it -this little guy can really crank when you need it (especially if you have the clutch set in drill mode).

So far, great battery life and consistent torque and power.

CONS:

I wish there was a way to lock the handle in either "straight" mode or "pistol" mode. While I've not yet run into a situation where the driver has collapsed while in use, it would provide a nice sense of security when really pushing down hard on the driver in "straight" mode.

The battery is round and keyed, and it will only fit into the grip in one way. However, there isn't any immediate visual cue that says "insert this way only" -such as a pair of identical symbols on battery and grip, or an asymmetrical shape which instantly indicates how the battery should be inserted. Not a big deal as you will find the correct rotation of the battery in a few seconds, but it could be improved.

There is a single LED light on the front of the driver, but it is not directly centered on the work area (offset by about an inch). DeWalt puts three lights on their drivers for consistent illumination of the work area from all angles. Adding one or two additional LEDs would really help in this department.

I purchased this Hitachi screwdriver to replace a Milwaukee 6547-22 2.4-Volt Two Speed Cordless Screwdriver for which I've had to purchase three additional pairs of batteries beside the ones supplied with it. The third replacement set failed after they had only been in use for five months.

Admittedly, I am a very poor steward of batteries I often forget that I have placed them in the charger. Without a near-perfect charger (which experience tells me the Milwaukee is certainly not) NiCad's quickly fail. When subject to the abuse I give them. Again, citing my own experience, LiIon batteries are much more tolerant of the abuse I give them or the currently available chargers are better suited to my form of abuse i.e. I have never had a failed LiIon battery.

The Hitachi screwdriver is almost identically the same size and weight as the Milwaukee but seems to go about three times longer on a freshly charged battery.

They both have the same torque limiting feature and the very handy rocker forward-stop-backward switch and the speed selector switch is in the same place on each. The Hitachi has a positive action bit holder (that I find the be a mixed blessing because I use a magnetic bit holder) and a marginally useful flashlight led.

Hitachi also gives a two-year battery warranty, which may be useful if my prior experience with LiIon batteries does not persist.

On net: The Milwaukee tool has served me well for a very long time and, but for the battery problems, I would never have replaced it in its time, it was a five-star product. I think that the Hitachi screwdriver is a worthy successor.

Honest reviews on Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6-Volt 1/4-Inch Hex Drive Screwdriver

I purchased one of these about 2 years ago and have used it daily for my work. This thing is amazing! The adjustable clutch works perfect and even though it's only 3.8v, it will drive in fairly large screws. I have used, abused, and done more with this screwdriver than any other one I have seen. People often comment on it and say "where did you get that"? I think I am going to buy another one just in case they discontinue it.

I bought this to primarily use for my son and I's R/C hobby, but it has quickly became a go to tool for around the house jobs as well. It beat's pulling out my heavy 19.2 drill. The battery lasts and lasts and when it starts to fade, just swap it out with the spare ( a nice option as some only come with on battery). The batteries charge quickly as well.

The clutch works flawlessly. It's very sensitive and on the lowest setting is perfect for our r/c cars. They go just far enough that I can finish tightening by hand, which I really like.

The only gripe I have, but is in no way a deal breaker, is I wish there was a way to lock it in either pistol or straight. I hope the hinge doesn't wear out, but since I use it 99% of time in pistol, it shouldn't. Also I like having the option to use it as a straight driver. Some lower priced unit's do not offer this.

For the price, this screwdriver cannot be beat. I have used other's priced twice what this one is and there is no way they are worth it. Give the Hitachi a shot and don't look back!

It works I wouldn't say it's fast but it does the job.Although they want twenty words for a review I don't have twenty words. If you are looking for a rapid car charger this is not the one.
