I bought this battery for my iPad 2 and to a lesser degree to charge some other eletronics (a mobile hotspot, iPod shuffle, and a couple of other goodies). It works great. The .5A port will charge up anything design for it and the 1A port is enough that the iPad 2 will charge while on, where as anything using the regular USB spec of .5A and 5V will only charge the iPad if it is in standby/off.

I drained my iPad down to about 42% charge and hooked it up to the 1A port overnight and by the morning the battery pack was drained and the iPad was back up to 91% charge. Most battery packs that claim 5000mAh claim to charge an iPad by about 50% and this is right in that range (49% to be technical). The iPad 2's battery is ~25W/hr battery, so that works out to something like 3,400mAh for half a charge at 3.7v with the battery pack at a claimed 5,000mAh at 3.7v. Something to keep in mind is there are inefficiencies in both converting the voltage from the battery pack from 3.7 to 5V, any possible voltage coversion on the iPad's side to go from 5V to whatever the actual charging voltage is (if there is a change, it might charge at 5V) and then inefficiencies in the internal battery charging (I think most batteries are around 80-90% efficient in charging, plus a voltage conversion efficiency of probably 80-90% again). So 3,400mAh stored in the iPad's battery works out close to a real 5,000mAh in the battery pack if you figure in inefficienies in the charging process. Also as I mentioned, other name brand battery packs that claim ~5,000mAh also only claim a 50% charge on an iPad.

It takes about 6hrs to charge the battery pack from dead to max and it took somewhere less than 5hrs to drain itself completely charging the iPad. Its not going to charge your iPad as fast as a wall charger would, but it is going to be enough to run your iPad full tilt and up the charge a little bit while the battery pack lasts, or give you about half a charge if your iPad is sitting off/standby.

The battery pack is small, easily palmable and light. It does not include a charger, but it does come with a USB to mini-USB cable to use with an existing USB charger. It takes 1A to charge, so a normal iPod or iPad charger or really any USB charger rated at 1A will do the job. It'll charge off of a computer's USB port as well, but I suspect it would take a lot longer with the .5A provided.

I have not attempted to charge two devices at the same time to see if it can keep up with a full 1.5A of drain or not.

Overall I was expecting the worst, but I've been pleasantly suprised. A great budget battery pack that delivers more or less what it states. My biggest knock are the battery charge and charge level LEDs. WAY too bright. They really light up a room at night with the lights off, and frankly probably burn more power than they should. Really LEDs don't use much power, but I still can't help thinking that I might have gotten another couple of % charge level on my iPad if the LEDs were much dimmer.

Sorry for the long review, but there was little info on this item and I thought I'd fill in some details for potential buyers

Needed a backup battery for work, so did not want to spend much money. Initially received the item and noticed the generic, cheaply printed, name of the product "mobile power" but thought as long as it works ok, I'll be ok. None the less charged it threw it in my bag and really didn't intend on using it much if ever, but tempting fate as I may only two weeks later I needed to use the back up battery. Plugged it in to disappointingly find out it had died after only two weeks of sitting in my bag stagnant. So I am not upset just yet, thinking its cheap, ill just charge it more frequently. I charge it again and now want to test it. This time the results were even more disappointing as the unit was freshly charged and when used would only charge an Ipad for approximately 1 minute then shut down as if it were dead. Tried this several times to make sure I was not making any mistakes but no luck. Also attempted to consult the instructions, but between the lack of instructions and nearly 1 in 4 words being misspelled, this was of no help. Yes I knew what I was getting into with this cheap backup battery but this was far worse as it is only a fancy looking paper weight. Worse yet because I waited several weeks to use the battery and find out it was junk, I missed the return window and am spending much more than I originally would if I were to buy a quality unit.

This product, in every way except being white, is identical to the New Trent IMP50D but is much less expensive (I have both). It powers/charges a 1G iPad nicely and any other USB device I've tried it with. Be warned, with both this and the New Trent version, it won't supply TWO power hungry devices at once. It's real output is 1 amp combined between the two jacks not the 1 amp plus 0.5 amp (1.5 A) claimed. So an iPad alone (or some of the more power hungry phones) will max it out by themselves. But that's not a big drawback. It's great to bring on flights, throw in your backpack, etc. for lots of reserve power.

And, as an aside, this is about the cheapest device of this kind I'm comfortable with. Just Google "lipo fire" and you'll find out what cheaply made Lithium Poly batteries, as are in all of these devices, can do when things go wrong. They catch fire, explode, shoot flames at 1000+ degrees, and more. Houses and cars have burned to the ground, flights have made emergency landings, etc. So buyer beware. It's best to buy from a company with an established brand name and some assets in the USA. New Trent seems to be such a company, and this seems to be an "OEM" version of the product they sell.

Honest reviews on USB Charger Protable 5000mah USB Solar Charger for Phone Mp3 Mp4

I've been using this external backup battery for a couple of months now and am overall pretty disappointed.

First and foremost, the capacity is not 5000mAh, not even close. On a full charge, this battery will charge my 1600mAh cellphone battery for about 1.5 charges. So either the power transfer efficiency is below 50%, or the battery capacity is just way overstated.

Second, the battery gets incredibly hot. My phone is rated for an 850mA charge current, and when I use the 500mA charge port, and the battery still gets very hot. If I connect the 1000mA charge port, the battery makes a loud wining sound and gets extremely hot extremely quickly, which is strange because I am able to use other 1000mA chargers without issue.

Lastly, there is no charging cable or adapter shipped with the battery. Sure, you can charge it using your own wall chargers, but the device uses a mini USB port that it does not provide a cable for. And the other cables that ARE provided (the ones you don't need, because presumably you already have cables for your phone) are incredibly low quality, using a cheap kind of universal connector that only makes contact if you place it down gently and don't touch it while its charging.

Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. In this case, its typical made-in-China crap.

Says it is compatible with the Kindle Fire but it's not. The USB plug has 2 locking tabs that are supposed to keep the plug tight into the charging jack in the Kindle. These don't line up and it won't insert. You can break one of them off and it will fit but then you get a message on the Kindle that this is a low power device and won't charge the Kindle while in use but may charge it while the Kindle is asleep. It was made in China (very poor quality)and was very inexpensive, you get what you pay for.

This is a pretty simple item, a small two usb DC adapter with a small red LED to let you know when it's drawing power. Unlike some of the competition it does not come with cables or anything else, just the adapter in a plastic bag. One of the outlets is 2.1 amps, the other is 1 amp, so you can charge two items at the same time such as a cell phone and a tablet. What I like about this item is that it is much smaller in size than others I have used with two usb outs so it doesn't take up much room in your glovebox and will not take up a lot of space around your cigarette lighter plug. I also appreciate the low cost. My experience with DC adapters is that they tend to die after a year or so anyhow. Although I would rather pay more and have one that lasts since I can't seem to find one I would rather get an inexpensive unit knowing that I will probably have to replace it on a daily basis.

Update: this unit would only recharge my cellphone ( a Nexus GSM ) using the 2 amp outlet and would only charge my Samsung Tab 7 Plus, Asus Transformer or iPad 3 in trickle mode when they were turned off, making it absolutely worthless. The brand I had purchased from Amazon before could charge my phone and the Tab at the same time while they were on, but it burned out after two months. Maybe it's just impossible to find one of these that will charge both at the same time and last a while. Anyway, I am returning this and trying yet another brand maybe my luck will change.

Worked great on first usage, but when I tried to use it a second time it made a whining noise and then smelled burnt. It was at this point that I figured the fuse had popped, but when I opened up the unit there was no fuse! From the look of the inside they never intended to put a fuse in it which is stupid. Do not buy!

Nice unit, compact and looks decently made. The problem is that I bought it to charge my Garmin Nuvi 1450, which unfortunately goes into "USB Transfer" mode when plugged into this outlet. No amount of mucking with the cable has yet yielded simple charging, thus this product is rendered useless for me.

Beware -try your desired device on a standard AC USB power supply before committing to this product. If it won't charge with your AC dongle, it will behave the same way with this auto charger.

Even without any reviews here, this one fits the bill for me. After reviewing various Lightning chargers from Griffin, Kensington, and Belkin, I chose this one for a some key reasons.

2.1 AMP OUTPUT: This ensures I have the maximum electrical output available. FYI: 2.1 amps multiplied by 5 Volts DC = 10.5 watts, but labels will only show 10 watts

COMPACT SIZE: This fits in a vehicle 12 volt socket well and protrudes only enough to get a good grip to pull it out with your fingers. Some products were unnecessarily long or bulky; I prefer simple.

REMOVABLE USB CORD: Instead of a hardwired connection, I have the versatility to swap out the Lightning cord with a USB to micro USB cord for my wife's phone or the USB to Apple 30-pin connector for the iPad. If you find nothing but the Apple OEM size of lightning connections fits with your phone case, you can buy this same item without the cord for less $ and use your own cord. Search: F8J051ttWHT (color white) or F8J051ttBLK (color black)

NO RING OF LIGHT: So many reviewers of products complained about the light ring feature being a distraction. This model features a simple round green LED light that is not much brighter than the console button lights in my car. I ended up twisting the light to the 3 o'clock position where the USB connector blocks my direct line-of sight to it. If I wanted to, a small piece of black electrical tape would cover the LED completely and easily since it is away from the USB connection. This is the 1 feature I valued to prefer it over the Belkin # F8J090bt04-BLK, which has the same power output and small form factor.

Is it cheap, no. But would I rather spend less and give up some these features.......no. I would have bought the version of this product less the 4' cord if a good coiled cord were available(I didn't like the Griffin coiled cord). Thanks for reading!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The iPhone wall outlet chargers are super-quick at charging. I have gone from 30% to 90% in about an hour. You get used to that kind of speed charging and this 2.1 AMP car charger give you exactly that! Initially, I scoffed at the price for these high AMP chargers and bought a 1 AMP car charger. Since my ride to work in less than 20 minutes, I would probably get 10% more charge off the 1 AMP charger, but with this 2.1 AMP charger, I manage to juice up about 25%. The really cool part of this charger is that I can pull out the USB cable and continue charging my phone via my laptop USB port.

The charger is well-designed and has a robust construction Apple worthy! The charger sits flush with my power outlet with just enough of it popping out to get an easy grip for removal. The charger does not have any edges, it blends well into the dash with only the distinctive green bezel being highlighted adds a little color to my drab dash. I also love the new low-profile negative (outer) terminal design. No more accidental snagging and ripping the terminal out of the charger. It also helps with a smoother insertion and removal from the power outlet.

The lightning connector is well designed and fits most cases without any issue (check images above)

Pros:

* Solid feel to the product. Well built and sturdy parts charger, cable and lightning connector

* Included USB Lightning cable

* Slim profile charger that sits flush and does not get in the way

* Fast charging almost as fast as a wall outlet charger. Approx 2.5 hours for a full charge

* Well designed lightning connector fits most cases without any issue

Cons:

* Pricey at $35 but not too expensive at current market rates for a 2.1 AMP charger with a reliable, detachable Lightning cable

* The charger has a Green LED that remains on when the charger is connected. It seems inefficient to power the gremlins. I have old USB car chargers that turn-off when a device is not plugged in, light up Red when charging and Green when fully charged I paid less than $10 for those chargers

* For a car, I prefer a coiled cable like this one, just keeps things compact Griffin Tech PowerJolt SE Coiled Lightning Car Charger for iPhone 5, Touch 5G, Nano 7G

Best Deals for Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB

The pin constantly popped out of my iPhone5 not permitting it to charge. I had it in for a 6 hour car ride and only gained about 6% of a charge during the drive because of this problem. Iphone popped up an error message saying 'this charging device is not compatible with the phone' or something to that effect. I've never seen that before. I am returning after 1 week.

Honest reviews on Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable Connector to USB

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The car charger I was using before this was the Kensington K39224US PowerBolt Micro Car Charger for iPad, iPhone and iPod, including iPhone 4. Since I upgraded to the iPhone 5, I only had to buy a Apple Lightning to USB Cable to keep using that one, which is 2.1 amps, like this one by Belkin.

After using the Belkin, I would say it is comparable to the Kensington charger, but it already comes with a Lightning to USB cable, so that may figure in one's comparison of their prices if one doesn't already have a cable.

In a 30 minute drive, my iPhone 5 increased in charge from 50% to 89% using the Belkin, for an average of 1.3% increase in charge per minute. This seems comparable to my former charger.

Either product is excellent, and the fact that they can charge any of the Apple products quickly, assuming you have the proper USB cables, is convenient.

I am new to HAM but wanted to see what this little guy could do, and not spend a ton of money.

With all hand held radios the problem is the small antenna. I can get ok reception but I live out in the sticks. I hooked up a roll up Jpole and wow. I cant wait to hook it up to a bigger antenna. You can have 100's memory set ups, several ways to scan. Like I said I am new and was a bit worried about all the different settings etc the book tells you step by step. I dont know how to do everything that this guy can do but you will pick up the regular settings easy enough. So far I have picked everything from police bands, EMS, Wendy's drive up, voice of america, voice of cuba, voices of I cant speak it, HAM chat, about 6 weather chans, regular AM/FM. I got all this from the regular antenna and the roll up J pole. This was in just a few days of messing around.

It is easy to travel with this. Throw it in the car, back pack, just a pocket. You can also order an AA battery pack so its easy to power it up if away from a charger.

Only thing not great are the small buttons, thats not a biggie since this thing is just bigger than a pager.

I owned this radio for only a couple of weeks. It has a wide band amplifier that is very susceptible to nearby transmitters. The police were coming in stronger than the frequency I was tuned to. It was a common problem whenever I was within a few miles of a tv or fm transmitter. If you're out in the boonies you may not have this problem, but near a city you may find your signal to noise ratio to be less than 1 a lot of the time. Not for me. I replaced it with an FT60, which works fine.

Overview

After a few weeks of driving with this item, I have a few problems with it. As posted before, I want to have this running 24/7, which it does..normally. I've gotten in to my car a few times, with the power still active on the car adapter, but it was off. Turning it on, put it back to it's recording state again. The next time it happened, I tried turning it on again, and I was greeted by the welcome screen and then nothing. The recording light was solid (not recording), and I could not get the display to come up and turned it off. I let it sit for a bit while I was driving and turned it back on again. This time it came up and started recording. This happened once more, and I believe it was overheating. I live in Pittsburgh, which by no means is the hottest city in the world. Those two particular days it was in the low to mid 80s. I will upload a rainy condition video today for all to see.

Video Quality

I've had a little bit of time to assess the video quality, and I would call it a little bit below acceptable. If I'm about 15 feet from a car I can read it's license plate. The video recordings that I get right now are 1280x480, with both cameras on the screen. So, that would be 640x480 each. I get anywhere from 20-30 fps with both cameras recording. 640x480 in my eyes is a bit underwhelming, however I believe it will work for any legal standpoint.

In the videos you can see that when it's raining, it is near impossible to see anything out the back window in the video.

Mounting

The mounting on the unit is also acceptable. I had a friend drive my car and said it fell off. He is a particularly aggressive driver, so making fast/abrupt turns will probably yield in the device coming off your mirror. I never had a problem with it coming off, as I'm not really an aggressive driver. However, I will probably end up modifying the device if I plan on keeping it to make a more solid mount.

Also, make sure you mirror is tight on the ball joint it is mounted to. This unit is somewhat heavy, and my mirror with gets knocked around due to its weight. It is fine when the drive is smooth, but when bumps come in to play I find myself consistently adjusting the mirror. Not really the fault of the unit, I just have to find a way to tighten my mirror.

Videos Make sure you put on 720p

Overview

I received the shipment promptly, well packaged. The box contains everything that was expected. I installed it on my mirror in my car and turned it on. I was greeted by a start screen and a start up noise. It then showed the dual video in the middle of the mirror. I went to use the manual, but the instructions are not well written and reference buttons that don't exist. I was able to fumble my way through the menu to set it up, except I could not get to the next menu. I decided to let it go while I test the quality of the camera. I decided I want the camera to record 24/7 in case anything decides to do anything to my car. You can have it turn off and on with the car by keeping it on a circuit that is switched by the ignition. I will post a video of various parts of my trip once I get to it. I have a very varied commute. I come from almost rural to very dense city, going through tunnels, in between tall buildings, and finally in a parking garage. So, the video should be very well rounded. I will get a night time video when I get the chance.

Screen

The screen is in the middle of the mirror, so if you have it on you can only see in the rear on the sides. Good thing you can turn it off! There is also two light indicators on the right of the screen one is red (top) and one is green (bottom). I noticed when the camera is recording that the green light flashes. I hope this won't be a distraction at night.

Mirror

When the screen is turned off (by pressing the down button), the mirror works very well during the morning hours. Have yet to test at night, but it seems like it has a polarized material on it.

Rating

So far I give the product 4/5.

2. I recorded like 20 sec on my 16GB card just to test it. The next day, when I turned on the unit, it said the card was full. I have to delete the file which was less than 16 MB before it can work again.

3. The audio is horrible. You will hear constant static noise in the background and the voice it recorded is distorted beyond recongnition.

4. The plug that directly connected to the unit has its metal part exposed by at least 2 mm which is not only a safty harzard by any standard but also prevent the mirror to be set properly. You have to plug it to the upper side of the unit which could stuck to the ceiling if you have a small car. I will upload a photo later.

I didnt test vedio quality of the unit but the view angle seems ok. I like the concept of this product but it is really poorly constructed.

While looking to replace the HORRENDOUS iPhone car charger sold to me at an AT&T store with an AT&T logo on it, an employee at BestBuy recommended this model to me and I bought it there. Really enjoyed using it so

I bought my wife one through Amazon. It's sturdy, stays in place and charges fairly quickly. Only reason I don't give it a 5 star is because the cable is fairly short and curly. I like the cord to be straight and long.

Purchased new and Clore Automotive refuses to replace DOA batteries. Clore Automotive said the dealer should have sold the product within six months of accepting delievery form the manufacture. Since the manufacture date was greater than six month the unit fail to qualify for manufacture warranty. I am now out $235 and Clore Automotive made a two time profit from me. I am now in the market for a new battery charger and you can bet it will not be another Clore Automotive manufacture defective un-warranty piece of junk.

Thanks

Lack of Customer Service Clore Automotive for showing me the light.

The ES-6000 is indeed a powerful unit, but the case started breaking apart after a few years. First the sides where the battery clamps attach fell off, then the center handle broke off. The company refuses to sell replacement plastic case parts, and instead only offers a "refurbishment service" which costs as much as a new unit. With the clamp holders and handle missing, there is no place to safely store the the clamps (which are always "live"), thus making the unit in this condition extremely dangerous and unsafe to use.

The first Jump box came via UPS and the shipping box was damaged. Inside, the heavy unit was cracked open.

The seller replaced it immediately and I sent the other one back, no problem.

Cons: Like another reviewer mentioned, if you touch the cables together, it's gonna spark, big time. D'oh!

So, if common sense prevails, you don't touch the cables together.

On the pro side, I have used this to jump start a Tri-axle Mack truck in the dead of winter a few dozen times. When it's below freezing, I need to hook up a car in tandem, but it's a 1980 POS truck with 3 big batteries. In summer just the Truck Pac will start it. I've also used it to start 24 Volt excavators and loaders, but you need to be careful how you hook it up.

For cars, it'll start most everything, even at 20 below..

I actually run my old chevy plow truck, (with electric plow), directly from the jump box, rather then buy and install a new battery for the dozen or so times a year I use the plow.

I've had the Truck Pac 6000 for over 3 years and only last week did it not take a full charge. (I loaned it to an idiot neighbor who somehow hooked it up wrong and then ran it dead trying to start a big block car that was out of gas. Now it's only charging 70%.)

He cooked it to the point of the cables smoking. I think it's low on battery acid. I'll take a look inside and see what makes it tick.

Over all, it's a great thing to have and the long cables are nice. It's paid for itself many times over with all the vehicles it has jumped.

Honest reviews on Truck PAC ES6000 3000 Peak Amp 12V Jump Starter

If you need a heavy duty commerical application jump pack, this is the one! The only down fall I can see is there is no on\off switch. I sold this unit to one of my fleet accounts, where there will be many different people useing it. They are worried about someone accidently hooking it up backwards or toutching the clamps together and causeing issues that nobody wants. This is the only complaint I recieved

The only complaint i have for the unit itself is you would think someone who makes such a great product could come up with a better way to store the battery clamps for transport. the clamp holders do not hold the clampsthey are allways draggiong behindbuyers of this pruduct have to come up with creative ways to keep the clamps hook onto the unit

I used this converter on several foreign trips and it worked so well, my husband wanted one so he could use it for the USB charger for his iphone. There is only one slot for a USB cord connection at the bottom. We've also used it to power our hair dryer and to charge our camera batteries. They've worked very well on all the various countries we've traveled to with them Cambodia, Vietnam, South America, Singapore, Spain, France, and Costa Rica, so far. We'll be going to India later this year and hope it works as well there.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I own the newer Motorola Roadster and the slightly older Motorola T505. So it made sense to do a head-to-head comparison to see which unit is better.

Design: Both units are compact. The Roadster's layout is somewhat more appealing to my eye. The Roadster's controls are labeled and easy to find. They are also illuminated. The T505's controls are not as well labeled or illuminated, but it is easy to use nonetheless.

The T505 has a reversible mounting clip, so it can work with cars like my Audi, which have sun visors that swing from front-to-rear rather than the usual rear-to-front. Roadster's mounting clip is not reversible, so I must mount it backwards in order to use it. Once the unit is mounted backwards, throw those easy-to-read labels and icons out the window. The T505 is made from plastic. So is the Roadster, but it also is partially covered by a nylon or poly cloth material that could prove to be less durable. While the Roadster features a more updated look, the lack of a reversible mounting clip gives a slight advantage to the T505, as the Roadster is hard to use when mounted backward.

Pairing. Both bluetooth units pair very easily, but the advantage goes to the Roadster, which announces that it is ready to pair and then does so quickly. Things couldn't be much easier then that. But the T505 is also easy to pair, just not quite as easy as Roadster. Also, the Roadster turns itself on when you enter the car, which is nice. The T505 must be turned on manually.

I paired both units with a newer Palm Pixi Plus and a slightly older Palm Treo 755p. While Roadster initially paired with this somewhat older 755p, after a couple of days it would no longer pair. I tried everything I could think of and got to pair eventually, but it later developed the same problem, dropping pairing and then refusing to pair. The T-505 paired and remained connected without issues. While the Roadster pairs easier than the T505, I had no issues with the T505 and I had several problems with Roadster's pairing. Advantage: T505.

Streaming Music: Both units can stream MP3s from your cell phone through your car stereo. When advancing from one track to the next, Roadster required me to hold down the advance button for much longer than I'd like to, creating a distraction while driving. A single touch on that key pauses the music but it must be held down for awhile to advance the track. I had to hold the button down to the point where it was annoying. Also, the advance takes longer than I'd like and is accompanied by a very loud beep and then a clicking sound. Also, with Roadster, I cannot revert to the previously played track. With the T505, I simply click on the right side button to advance and the left side button to go back. Changes from track to track only require a short touch, the change is immediate and it is not accompanied by the obnoxious beep tone or clicking noise. Advantage T505.

Speakerphone: The Roadster's built in speakerphone is louder and clearer than the T505's. If you are using the speakerphone and not streaming to FM stereo, the advantage goes to the Roadster.

Output to FM stereo: Both units have similar output strength to FM. It could be better but both units are much better than a Jabra unit that I tested earlier. I'd consider the output to FM on both units to be on the better side of acceptable. Roadster can select a specific FM frequency that you'd like for the unit to broadcast on each time. The T505 cannot do this. T505 will automatically scan for a frequency and you can select a preferred frequency, but it will generally select whatever it likes. I'd probably call this a draw, although I do prefer Roadster's frequency-selecting ability.

Call quality: I spoke with my mother on the Roadster first and then with the T505. I was driving a convertible with the top up. The car is not noisy but is slightly more so than a hardtop vehicle. The Roadster's microphone was so sensitive that it was picking up much of the background noise and forcing the duplex to me even when I wasn't speaking. That meant that I couldn't hear much of what mom said because Roadster picked up the road noise and shut off mom's conversation. The T505 didn't have this problem. Big advantage T505.

Incoming calls: When an incoming call arrives, both units announce the caller's name and number, if available. Roadster allows you to say "answer" or "ignore". With the T505, you simply tap the telephone icon to answer. Slight advantage Roadster.

Texting: It's my understanding that Roadster can read back texts and allow you to reply to them. I did not test this function, but assuming it works properly, it seems like that would be an attractive feature for someone who texts a lot. Advantage Roadster.

The Winner: Of the two units, I prefer the T505. It's less fussy than Roadster. While Roadster's pairing failed several times, the T505 was always rock solid. Music streaming track advances were much quicker and smoother on the T505. The microphone was way too sensitive on Roadster, although this might not be a problem for those with a very quiet car.

Both are decent units, but I'm using the T505 daily while Roadster sits in its box. Roadster isn't bad, but I can't give it more than 3 stars based on my experiences.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Before getting this I did quite a bit of searching on the web, and couldn't find anything that explains exactly how well this speakerphone works with iPhones. Several other reviews outline its main features, and a few mention that they use it with their iPhones but don't discuss the limitations of that mode, so what follows is intended just for those who hope to use it with an iPhone. (I've got the iPhone 3G, but I can't see any reason it would work differently with the iPhone 3GS or 4).

It's clearly designed for droid phones, and on those phones you can download the MotoSpeak app and have it read texts out loud and even allows you to compose texts hands free. Still, the basic and most essential functions appear to work with any Bluetooth enabled phone, and certainly with my iPhone 3G.

It hooks easily to the sun visor of the car, and the charger plugs into the cigarette lighter. It links easily with the iPhone, once you go into the settings and enable Bluetooth. After it's linked, the Roadster recognizes your phone, and turns itself on automatically, apparently triggered by the sound of an opening or closing car door. Once on, it speaks out loud that it recognizes your phone, and even says the name of the phone it's linked to. It also tells you whether it's fully charged or not.

If you receive a call, it tells you there's an incoming call and if your phone recognizes the caller it tells you who's calling. You can then say either "Answer" or "Ignore" and it will either pick up the call or drop it. You hear the call either through a speaker built in to the Roadster or you can set it up so it transmits directly to your car stereo through an unused FM frequency. The onboard microphone picks up your voice all you have to do is speak at an ordinary level and it works fine. My wife reported that it sounds just like it does when I'm calling her directly through the iPhone.

Pressing the call icon on the Roadster will redial your most recent call. Another feature built in to it is that you're supposed to be able to click on the dial tone button and speak a phone number but when I press that button the Roadster tells me that the feature is unsupported by my phone. It strikes me a bit odd that the Roadster can control my iPhone enough to dial the most recent call, but not to dial a different number, but that's the way it is.

You can also play music from your phone through the Roadster it sounds awful if you try to do it through the speaker on the Roadster, but when you've got it on the FM transmitting mode, and assuming you've got it set on a clear station the music sounds pretty decent, about as good as you'd get it from a decent but not perfect signal on a regular FM station. In my case I hook the iPhone directly to my stereo with a USB cable, so I wouldn't ever bother with this.

So what this is really useful for on my iPhone is answering calls hands free and in my case that's the main thing I wanted it for so it works pretty well for me. If you want to make phone calls a lot while driving, or want to receive and send text with voice commands, you'll need a different kind of phone, with Android 2.2 or higher. Having said that, those features would make this an excellent device for owners of Android phones; the more basic features still make it quite useful for iPhone users like me.

I am really not sure what is up with the bad reviews(1 star). Regardless of the bad reviews, I still purchased the product and to be honest I think it is great. People seem to complain for absolutely no reason. Don't compare a device to another device. This is not a comparison review. The product delivers as advertised.

This is my first motorola product I purchased from amazon.

-Quick delivery +

-Easy pairing. What a breeze for any non techies out there. +

-Speaker phone works great. + Everyone I spoke to so far had no clue I was on speaker phone. Its loud too except if the volume is on full blast it can be slightly distorted. Simple fix(don't put it on full volume)

-FM transmitter works fine. + Here is where I don't get some of the reviews. What do you expect? Dolby Digital, THX certified sound coming out of your car speaker from this device? You don't even get that from your handheld phone. If you find a clear FM channel and play around a bit, it will come in fine. Not 100% clear but what do you expect? Its a FM transmitter people. I think its perfectly fine and once again, nobody said they heard anything strange on the other line.

-Synch multiple devices. + This was really cool. I had two cellphones in my car and the device knew to switch back and forth between the two when I hit a button on either phone. I remember my old BMW which had bluetooth couldn't do this. I had to manually switch back and forth. So annoying while driving. This device did it no problem.

-Not sure about battery life since i've only had for a week but its seems fine. It would have been nice using mini USB charger instead of some strange connector from motorola.

-Haven't tried motospeak(speech to text) yet sorry.

Only Con: The buttons on the device aren't the best. I hit a button and doesn't seem like i'm even hitting it. FM, +, buttons in particular. No big deal. You shouldn't have to hit buttons often anyway. I changed from 4 stars to 5 because this is just being too picky. If I could do 4.5 stars then I would but I can't so 5 stars it is.

If I were you, I would definitely purchase it. Its a sleek little device and not bad for under $80 bucks. Works like a charm. Don't listen to the rest of these people that gave 1 star reviews cause they are used to their old devices or are just whiners by nature. LOL. Works as advertised.

Honest reviews on Motorola Roadster Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone - Retail Packaging

Just got this a few days ago, but so far I am very impressed by it. Charged it up in the house and it immediately connected to my phone. I leave it on in the car and it immediately connects when I get in--even faster than the "built-in" bluetooth on our other car. The sound is good--people have no problem hearing or understanding me while I'm driving in the car, and I have no problem hearing callers. Love the voice commands--I can just say "answer" and don't have to reach up for the button to answer calls. It also automatically connected to my phone's contact list so it tells me who is calling if they are on the list--otherwise just the phone number--and I can say, "Call Roy" and it does it! Now that's real "hands free". So far the battery seems to last well. I've had it on in the car for 3 days and the battery is still "high" (I never turn it off). I don't use the FM connection, nor do I stream music from my phone through it, so can't comment on those functions. However, I can't imagine that this speaker could reproduce music as well as the car's sterio system. I bought it strictly as a Bluetooth speaker for my cell phone for hands free receiving and placing of calls and it is doing that beautifully!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Roadster is a lightweight unit roughly the size of a cellphone but molded to fit properly on an automobile sun visor. It comes with a car recharger and small instructional booklet. I unpacked mine and turned it on. It immediately "spoke" through the built-in speaker, indicating that its battery level was low and that it needed to be connected via Bluetooth to my cellphone. I have an iPhone 4; I turned that on and selected the Settings app so that I could set up the Bluetooth connection. Following the instructions I'd just heard on the Roadster, I accomplished that within a few seconds. The Roadster then indicated that it was connected to my iPhone, using my iPhone's personal name through the speaker.

The next day, I put the Roadster in my car, plugging it into the lighter socket to recharge the battery. A blue LED on the lighter plug indicates that power is being received and the unit announces that it is being charged. A little while later, I received a phone call. The ring tone that I'd normally hear on my phone came through on the Roadster's speaker and I was quickly able to answer the call. While driving on the highway with some interior noise in the car, the unit had excellent clarity and my caller indicated that he had no trouble understanding the conversation.

While I can send the Roadster's speaker output to the FM radio band instead, I rarely have the radio on and so have not used that function.

I left the car at the airport, leaving the Roadster turned on and unplugging the lighter plug, and taking my iPhone with me. Four days later, returning to the car, as I opened the door I heard the Roadster announce that it had detected my iPhone and was setting up the Bluetooth connection. This required no action on my part. Battery level was announced as being high, so clearly the unit had turned off appropriately during my and my phone's absence. I initiated a call this time and the input/output was automatically directed to the Roadster's mic/speaker setup without any additional action on my part.

As you've read in other reviews, the Roadster has other capabilities, such as streaming music, voice response to certain commands, and so forth. I haven't utilized these capabilities yet, but the strength of this product is in the straightforward and easy setup, the clarity of the speaker and microphone, and the ease and speed with which it links to the Bluetooth connection of my phone each time I return to the car. I've observed no errors or problems in this regard over the first 10 days of use and am looking forward to a long relationship between my phone and the Roadster.

We have two HTC Desire phones so I ordered two of these. They do not charge the phone. At best if you plug it in, it will maintain the level of charge the phone had. So even if only $2 and free shipping, they are not worth the money. Based on the quality of this product, I would avoid anything made by this company. We are going to the phone store and buy one that works....even if it is $20. I buy a lot....really a lot of stuff off Amazon and can not think of anything I was unhappy with....except this junk charger.

Best Deals for Retractable Car Charger for HTC Desire (Includes OrionGadgets

Got this for my HTC Desire. Before using it, I strengthened the charger with some clear packaging tape as it almost split down the center (manufacturing seam) when I first tried to plug it in. The advantage of this style is the compact style that has cord retractor... we'll see how it lasts. Probably OK for light usage, but the old reliable (but more bulky)spiral cord type charger will no doubt win the durability test.

Honest reviews on Retractable Car Charger for HTC Desire (Includes OrionGadgets

When I first received it I thought it was so neat because it was retractable, but it will not charge your phone. The only way it does charge is if you hold it tightly right at the plug in site. It does not work and I did not receive the cleaning cloth.
