When I got my Tom Tom One, there was a quick start guide that was to say the least inadequite. One of the things they left out was the fact that you can charge your Tom Tom using the USB cable connected to your computer. Insted they have a stern warning in their quick start guide suggesting you spend 30 bucks more to buy the Charger. The Charger works fine, but I don't think much of Tom Tom's business ethics in not including detailed information about their product when the consumer purchases it so you don't end up spending money on things you really don't need. For that reason, I wouldn't give Tom Tom any stars.

Three battery charging scenarios:1. The included USB cable for downloading from computer will "trickle" charge device's battery if the device is turned off while attached to computer (explained on P9 as Note of Quick Start Guide). Takes about one hour to fully charge.
2. Included USB cable for car use will do the absolutely identical thing as the USC computer cable as explained above.
3. Optional wall outlet charger not required if one does not need to quick charge device. Advantage of using supplied USB cable with computer is to first hook up to TomTom Home to check for downloadable updates and then tunoff to trickle charge device as needed.
I don't think TomTom is being deceptive about the need to buy their wall outlet charger. One has to read the Quick Startup Guide, which is that a guide, and then download and carefully read the User Manual that is available from TomTom Home. It is more detailed on the operation of the device. On p6 of the Quick Start Guide under the header "Troubleshootiong" is clearly states , "Always make sure that you are using the latest version of the TomTom application on your One XL...see TomTom Home on page 9."
One has to read the instructions to be smarter that the equipment one uses.

After purchasing a TomTom One I noticed it has a feature for walk routes, I thought it would be something I would never use and didn't think twice about it.Well, it just shows you how wrong first impressions can be.
I was recently on vacation in Los Angeles (South Pasadena to be exact) visiting filming locations from the first Halloween film (1978). I had researched all the info online then programmed the locations as "Favorites" into my TomTom One. This way I could quickly find an address I wanted to see rather than type out the city, street, and house number.
Arriving in South Pasadena I realized alot of the filming locations were very close together. I decided to walk the route because it was a lot quicker avoiding traffic, street lights, one way streets...etc.. It was also nice to enjoy the California sunshine.
Because I had used the TomTom Home Charger the night before in my hotel room my TomTom One had a full charge. This was very convenient because I could simply take the unit with me and have my entire route with all my favorites with me on foot. It was like having my very own tour guide telling me right where to go.
Anyone who will be using their TomTom One outside a vehicle should look into this product.

The one disadvantage of the TomTom ONE is that its battery life is only 2 hours, so it's important you have a car charger and/or home charger to power the device up when not in use. Only had it for a few weeks so cannot judge it harshly.It appears to handle the power draw quite well,
the battery meter does lie a little bit -when the
battery is fully charged, and the power cuts out,
it drops down to "half charged" but i think this is because
being such a beefy charger, it maybe requires a few more
batteries on it, as the voltage of a single large group 27
lead acid battery stabilises around 12.36 volts during use of battery,
there is nothing wrong with either the battery or the inverter,
I think its just needs a few more batteries, it is a big
inverter and is desined to run/charge more than just one battery.

I am a neat freak, so when I found this retractable charger and knew I wouldn't have to deal with tangled cords, I was very excited. The cord extends out to a perfect length, reaching my phone that I set in my cup holder in the center console, and then easily retracts into the base again. I love it!
I used it for the first time today and found that the plug that goes into the cigarette adapter had come loose just enough that it was no longer charging the phone. On the return trip, we made sure it was pushed in more and it seemed ok, but still a little loose. I will keep an eye on the plug to make sure it is always pushed in as much as I can get it, and I hope it'll work out. Otherwise I love this charger!

Why did I knock off one star? Because it took me about 15 minutes to get the little covers on the earbuds and another 30 to figure out how to set up the belt clip. I still haven't figured out how the key chain fits into the scheme of things. BUT, those "complaints" aside, this is a great little bundle of goodies for your Fuze+. Charging from wall, computer, or car a cute little rechargeable speaker, an audio cable to connect it to your car radio (and other setups as well). The screen protector came with a cut in the packaging, so I was concerned, but nothing inside was affected, and the cut actually made it easier to open the package. The screen protector itself comes with pretty good instructions unlike anything else in the package. Personally, I'd love to see a little "bag" included to keep everything together for traveling. A quart-sized zipper bag holds it all very nicely, so I'm set. All in all, I really like this package.

Anyone who travels Europe knows that the standard voltage converter/adapter units do not accurately step down voltage. For a hairdryer or curling iron, this is fine. However, my electric toothbrush and even my AA battery charger fried. When my daughter was to spend the summer in Spain, I bought this for a VERY reasonable price for the peace of mind. It's not worth risking frying an expensive IPod. She used it all summer without any issues. I will pass it on to my duaghter-in-law for Japan.

Just got the M1 in today and had to hook it up right away. I have not rode with it yet but testing it out around the house I noticed these points:
1. There is a slight static in background
2. The volume is GREAT for listening to music
3. The Music continues to play when using Vlingo (Droid Incredible) when it reads txt messages to me so I can't really hear what the "voice" is saying.
4. Tried calling another person and it worked great...they heard me fine and I can hear them perfect (again have not tried this on the road yet).
5. I mounted mine via the clip and holds tight. Might switch to adhesive mount for cleaner look at a later date.
6. Nice Matte Black finish
7. The cord length is fine...had extra I had to tuck into the helmet.
8. I found the user interface a little annoying to get used to...sometimes holding the button down for the "5" seconds didn't turn off and that type of thing...just have to get used to it.
Will update review upon first ride and test with product.

Product is GREAT!
1. You can't hear static when riding.
2. At 80mph could still hear when calling and person on other end could hear perfect. (I did not have wind blocker on helmet)
3. Once I got used to Blinc M1 the user interface works better.
4. Awesome part of product is that when synced to phone (HTC Incredible) the knob on side can be used to switch between songs!! Great for shuffle option on phone!
5. Clip mount works great...has not moved yet!
6. At just $100 I would highly recommend the purchase...can't beat the convenience.

PROS:Paid $99 with free shipping. That's the cheapest one I've seen so far.
Controls are easy to use with gloves on, the dial for changing music tracks is very nice.
Loud. I can hear music at freeway speeds inside my full-face helmet.
People could understand me on the phone at 40mph.
CONS:
No dedicated plug for the charger, shares the same plug as the speaker/microphone assembly. You have to unplug one to plug the other in.
Proprietary charger plug.
The "clip" fastener was useless for me because the plug for the headset wiring sticks out pretty far and it would hit my shoulder and unplug. Using the stick-on mounting plate to place the unit higher on my helmet solved this.
OTHER:
Volume buttons could be bigger but they're adequate.
Play/Pause is handled by holding the "volume down" button for 3 seconds. Odd but acceptable.
It comes with a boom mic, it would have been better with a mic made specifically to go inside a full-face helmet.

I bought this on a whim because I wanted to be able to listen to music on long rides. I opted for the permanent installation because the clip wouldn't fit my helmet. The clip was too small to fit around the bottom of my helmet (AFX DS-39 Awesome helmet BTW). So I carefully placed the speakers where they would fit comfortably on my ears, routed the wires through the bottom of the helmet and put everything back together. It was great, I had minimal wires showing where they connected to the unit and the speakers were just fine on the comfort scale.I paired my phone to the unit and started playing some music. IT WORKED! Next, I wanted to test it on the road.
So I have a dual sport bike with a small Enduro tank bag. The tank bag has a velcro piece that sits on top with a clear plastic window that you can slide things in to. This, I figured, would be the perfect place to put my phone as it was the closest location to the bluetooth unit without being tied to my helmet (/joke).
Bottom line, this thing is crap. The phone was no more than 1.5 feet away from my helmet at all times and the signal would cut in and out. I'd rather listen to wind noise. It went a little something like this... 2 seconds of music, silence, 4 seconds of music, 5 seconds of silence, 2 seconds of music... you get the picture.
I could not, in good faith, recommend this to anyone in the market for a bluetooth helmet system. I am either going to sell this piece of junk or try to return it. I am very disappointed but that's what I get for buying the cheapest thing on the market.

I've owned the M1 for about a month now and have done about 250-300 miles using it. It does what it claims to do, which is why I gave it 4/5 stars but there are a few things that are really annoying.Setup is easy, however, if you own a SHOEI RF1000 Helmet don't expect this unit to fit as easily as you see in the videos on Youtube. Unlike most of the helmets you see portrayed in the demos online the Shoei RF1000 does not allow you to pop out the rear padding of the helmet. I had to shove (with a pencil eraser) the wire between the helmet and the padding till it got stuck up there. So Shoei owners, and people who own helmets with a permanently attached rear padding, beware.
The microphone works great (I can only speak as to full-face helmet use)and up to 60 miles an hour the person on the other line doesn't really notice any difference. You can carry a conversation at 70 MPH but you will be straining a little. The speakers work great but I have a constant low buzz/squeaky noise coming from them when I get a call. I have yet to use this device to listen to music but I imagine you could hear music just fine no matter the speed. I ride a Honda 919 with Sato pipes so if your bike is quiet you could possibly get even better results.
I wish that there was some kind of clip holding the usb cables from the wiring to the unit as over time, I can definitely see the cables just falling out of the unit while going fast.
This is easy to use and setup and works pretty well. I will update this review once I get another m1 to communicate with my wife.

Basically, you get what you pay for. It does work, and it doesn't cost much.However, I got caught in the rain once, had it on, and it never worked again. The power on/off function quit, so it wouldn't turn off, and once the battery ran out and I recharged it, it would never turn on again.
Before this, it worked okay. I was sometimes frustrated with it, but I honestly can't remember why now.

My ninja 250 battery got discharged totally and it is not fun to open the front seat to jump start (in case it needs a jump start again). I got this kit, and it was simple and straight forward to correct them. The base wire that connects to battery is long enough to draw it under the rear seat compartment, which I can open using key.And the other connecting cables are handy to connect to my car battery and start the ninja.
These connectors are also helpful for keeping battery charged during winter.
Only thing is that the connectors did not snap tight one into the other, but not a big deal

Great accessory for Motorcycle, Actually used it for the first time today, I had a battery tender plug for trickle charging but you couldn't jump start a machine with those small wires. This system works great with the larger wiring plus you still have a battery tender plug. May 19 , 2013 update. Same panels, same batteries, same charger. All is well. Fridge died , but controller is still doing the job.If you battery(s) are worth more than $25 this is probably the best cheapest controller. If you buy a cheap controller, you need to check what is happening with a volt meter. The cheap ebay controllers i tested are not good.
2 years ago-This is an update after 5 months of constant use in Baja california. I run a 12volt refer and the lights to a small house.
Testing with a watt meter:
Watt meter between charger and battery. my panels
( 320 year old 50 watt panels) had at least a peak wattage of 130 (9.5 amps) watt on a sunny day, and hit 200 watts on some partly cloudy days. So the unit was pushed to the max, and held up well. Wattage to a fully charged battery was 5-8 watts. There was no heat coming from the unit. Would up my rating 5 stars. Therefore the following review should be changed in spots, but I'll leave it for now.
How Morningstar Sunsaver ss-10 works and the potential flaw.
Assuming temperature 25 degrees C: the controller will put a voltage of 14.4v into the battery. With no load on the system, and sun, a voltmeter will always read 14.4v no matter what state of charge the battery is in. This is just what my battery type wantsconstant voltage. So far great.
But when the battery is fully charged , the float voltage does not go down to around 13.7v. The float voltage is 14.4v. After 2 days of charging, an analog amp meter shows zero current going into the battery. however my 0-25a meter is accurate at best to + 1 amp. So maybe a float voltage of 14.4v is ok? Provided the current is very low. My batteries (expensive) call for a float votage of 13.2v to 13.7v. I'll know more when I get a digital amp meter.
I can't find any specs from Morningstar on how much current is going into a fully charged battery.
It's just sort of dissapointing that I spent the extra money for a name brand, and may have ended up with an inferior product. If I had known the float voltage was 14.4v, I would not have purchased. Especially with no specs on current at the float voltage. If I hadn't modified the mounting holes , I would return it. Now I'm left with the problem of finding out the current myself, and then babysitting the thing so my batteries don't overcharge.
The temperature sensor works well.
Correction. I started out with an 85% charged battery. I do not know what the initial charging battery voltage would be if I had started out with a more discharged battery. Probably would depend on % battery charge and output of solar panels. Float voltage still 14.4v.
Update. I bought a 10 amp controller that looks identical to the HQRP 10a. Was not purchased from amazon. Was 20 bones delivered.
That controller is way way worse than the sunsaver. It starts the day on a fully charged battery and enters an equilization phase. Battery voltage is brought up to
16 plus volts then shut off until voltage goes down to 14.4v. Then the full power of the panels ( 6 amps in my case)is put into the battery until voltage goes to 16 plus again. This went on for an hour until I pulled its plug. Next day same thing. I'm not sure what kind of battery likes this treatment. Not gel and not my AGM. Would be ok for an old car battery you don't care about. So for under 60 bucks the morningstar may be as good as you can get.
I've put a switch on the morningstar and can lower the float voltage to 14.1v. I think I can live with that. Or maybe go back to the nc25a I was using.
I have no use for the load contols on these controllers. I'm not lighting a street lamp. My main use is running a fridge/freezer, that shuts down when batteries are below 12 volts. I would be happy if the manufacture left out the load feature and just spent the savings to make a charger that correctly charged the battery.

This isn't the cheapest controller out there. It's not even the first one I bought. However, it's the one that I wish I bought first.Morningstar's website doesn't just have user manuals. The publish entire circuit diagrams and diagnostic manuals for their devices. If you read through some of these you will see some of the features that other devices don't have that this does which aren't advertised. Some examples
-Operates at up to 60 C (that's 140F, which the inside of a badly ventilated shed like ours needs!)
-Reverse polarity protection along with a host of other self checks that prevent you from frying the device (unlike cheaper products).
-What specifically it does when you change the jumpers from flooded battery type to AGM type
-How to troubleshoot problems beyond the token errors that anyone can figure out themselves (i.e. requires a multi meter--this is a good thing)
-Various other protections for the solar cell, the load device, and the ability of the device to separate these things from each other (specifically)
The one downside is I wish it came with the 2 prong plugs like many other devices do. Fortunately my cheaper, dead controller had them-I just cut them off and stripped the wires and the installed into the SunSaver no problem.

The Morningstar SunSaver Charge controllers do the job.My solar system is for a weekend cabin that is mostly used during the summer and autumn.
But be careful in hooking up; I damaged one when I inadvertently shorted a connection.
Another one was damaged when mice built a nest on top of the controller and it overheated.

I have a garden away from the house that is too far to run electricity. I needed an electric fence to keep the critters out and a pump to bring the water in. I have several solar panels a friend gave me so I decided to make my own little solar power set up. I ordered one of those cheap Chinese made charge controllers to save a few bucks. Well, that was a mistake. The thing was DOA and looked like a piece of junk. The instructions were in Chinglish.I decided I needed a better controller so I did a little research and came upon the SunSaver on a sailing website. I figured if it could stand up to the salt water, it could take the weather and would be reliable. Since it was cheaper to order through Amazon, I ordered it here. It's hooked to three 40 watt panels that put out 7.5 amps. I have a deep cycle battery that it charges. There's a 12 volt fence charger hooked to the battery and a 12 volt water pump that I hook to the battery when I need to water. I installed it a month ago and it is working just fine.
I would urge anyone who is looking for a solar charger to pay the extra few bucks and get a well built, quality product like the SunSaver. It's worth it.
