Debated on buying the "high torque" version of this model, but when with this instead. For my needs, it's awesome. I use this pretty much for just automotive work; not a professional mechanic by a long shot, but just work on my car and friends. I swapped the shocks in my moms car recently, and this saved me I would guess an hour in the process, and it's FUN to use.

I got this one for an absolute steal on Amazon warehouse it was in used/like new condition, so I was hesitant, but it just looked like someone opened the box, and returned it immediately. With 2 batteries, a charger, nice case and the driver, $135 was just too good to pass up.

Pros: I'm a Bosch convert. All their power tools that I now own just fit well in my hand, are well balanced, feel quality, the batteries last forever, and charge quick. In fact, I don't see me looking at any other brand, they're just that well designed (ze germans, no?). If you do the math, this puts out around 135lbs/ft of torque, which is almost double what my Bosch 12v impact driver puts out. It's not heavy, it's not huge, but puts out bolt snapping torque in a small package. Two batteries included are a huge plus, even at the new price this is a great deal. They charge... insanely quick. Maybe I hadn't drained it, but it seemed like 15 minutes until fully charged, which is nuts. LED is a nice touch. Progressive trigger is also somewhat a rarity in the bigger impact drivers; this has it which is nice doesn't try to jump out of your hand. Also has the brake function, so when you let of the trigger, it just stops spinning immediately. Keeps nuts from flying out of sockets, which is a pain. Ergonomics, power, and battery life are the key features, and it's very well priced.

Cons: LED could be brighter; no battery meter.

Conclusion: If you don't work on tractors or things that require massive amounts of torque (i.e. above 130ft/lbs), I don't think there is a better 1/2 driver out there. I have a Dewalt, and now basically hate it (twice as heavy, worse battery, poor ergonomics/balance, same power). Can't say enough about Bosch tools, they are my new go-to brand when looking for anything new.

I have found the bosch impact wrench has exceeded my expectations, I thought perhaps the HT version would be required to change 4wd wheels but this does it with ease. Driving 4 inch tek screws is also not a problem. It has run well on both the slim and large batteries and is easily adapted between 1/2 drive to 1/4 hex (after market adaptor needed). Pleased I purchased this product.

It's a solid Impact Wrench, does its job very well and consistently so. I use it for the tracking my car and changing wheels often. The wrench is easy to use, has good charge, and is powerful enough to do all the jobs. It's rubberized in all the right places and you can feel the quality manufacturing of this product. I highly recommend it. I just wish it had more optional attachments for the battery so I could use bosch products everywhere.

Honest reviews on Bosch 24618-01 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Square Drive Impact

great impact wrench. more convenient than using air tools for removing lug nuts. love the power/torque & light. only thing lacking is a way to adjust torque to prevent over tightening of lug nuts besides letting off the trigger early. this thing is powerful & will not disappoint. order some impact sockets when you order this wrench if you plan on removing lug nuts. i love this tool & will only buy bosch products from now on. since using this product i've ordered a bosch 3/8" 18 volt drill(batteries are interchangeable) & a bosch oscillating tool & numerous bosch accessories on amazon

I bough this as an alternative to using a compressor (small capacity, always refilling...) and pneumatic impact wrench . So far, I've only done the lug nuts on my wife's BMW 528. No problem zipping them off.

I like the variable speed and trigger ergonomics (as opposed to dewalt, for example), but haven't found a need for the LED work light (I'd prefer to have the option to switch it off). It's really lightweight, too.

For higher torque, I'll get the big Bosch impact, but for wheels, suspension work, etc., I think this will be fine. My only other cordless impact experience was with a snap on 1/2 18v, which was great, but when spending my own money, this little Bosch does the job just fine.

Arrived on time and works great for what I needed it for. I had to do a little work rewiring the toy to replace the original batteries. The battery seems to last longer than the original, maybe it's the amp-hour rating.

I bought this Car charger because I was going halfway across the U.S. and back, which is like a 60 hour trip. I knew I would be using my phone and laptop, so I bought this so I could charge both of them. It tends to fall out on the bumpy roads, but if you push it back in it won't fall out for about another hour.

Even with the great reviews and price I was hesitant when buying this convertor since no reviews talked much about its capacity to run a portable DVD player, but I bought it anyway hoping it would work. It did! The size is reasonable, it goes in and out of the outlet easily (a complaint on many other brands), and it works! The DVD battery got low, so we plugged it into the convertor (crossing our fingers, of course), and it worked perfectly the whole Thanksgiving trip. My kids are going to be very happy on our 25-hour car trip this Christmas. Thanks!

I already own a Tripp Lite 375w inverter, but it's bulky and noisy. So I decided to buy the Bestek 75w.

My test:

The USB and AC outlet both worked well to charge my cell phone. But when I plugged in my MacBook, it wouldn't charge. I thought something might be wrong with the Macbook cord, so I tried it on the Tripp Lite, and it didn't charge either! The Tripp Lite worked previously so I was almost sure the Macbook or its cord had the problem. When I got back home the Macbook charged fine on my home AC. So I went back to the car and plugged the Macbook into the Tripp Lite charging light comes on! Then the Bestek no light. Tripp Lite again no light! I waited a few minutes and tried the Tripp Lite again light comes on! The Bestek was doing something strange. I then use my Kill-a-Watt on the Bestek. Turns out the AC frequency fluctuates wildly during my short measurement I saw it briefly dip to 40 Hz. This is way too low and was probably causing issues with the Macbook (Tripp Lite was more stable and my brief test didn't show it dropping below 50 Hz). Power couldn't be the issue the Macbook adapter is rated at 60w max, so even if I add 10% as the Bestek instructions recommend, it's still below 75w. I have a 3rd gen Toyota Prius but I assume the DC ports act just like non-hybrids.

Note that other laptops probably would work, but mine didn't. Bottom line is that the low frequency is not acceptable because the standard is 50-60 Hz. I wonder if the other Bestek inverters have the same issue.

Other thoughts:

I like the compact form factor and the swiveling body; the latter helped with plugging it into confined DC ports like the one in the console box between the seats in the Prius. The AC outlet seemed a bit tight; when the Bestek was in the DC port and I wanted to remove an AC device, I was afraid my pulling would eventually damage the DC connector, or worse yet, the port. USB port was just the right tightness.

Used this product on an American Airlines flight and it worked great. You can check on Seatguru.com to see if your particular seat has a power outlet, and if it does, you have a great solution. Your laptop adapter may not work because this can supply a maximum of 75 watts (I have an iGo adapter that delivers 130 watts. Fortunately, I have a separate adapter for it).

I purchased the PROMOTION BESTEK 75Watt 12 Volt DC to 110-120 Volt AC Power Inverter With USB Adapter MRI711C-3 on a Thursday and it arrived on Saturday. I got this product for an inflatable bed I use when camping. I have not gone camping with it yet but I did inflate and deflate the bed I use two times in a row and it worked great, just as good as the wall outlets in my home. The unit was slightly warm to the touch after about ten minutes of continuous use but not warm enough to warrant any concern. Thus far this product has done what I got it for and it has done it well.

The unit I bought was purchased from Griot's Garage, which is this item rebranded. It is thin enough (3.5" wide) that I could keep it in my Mazda RX-7 between the seat and storage bins. I used it many times over the last 5 years and it seems to be holding up great. I put it in my finance's car around a year and a half ago. Even she has commented on how often she has used it; not for herself but for coworkers and customers at where she works.

The only criticism I've found is that the cables are a little short at 23" long. Not unusable but I'd like them longer. I just purchased the "660" version of the Jump-N-Carry, the JNC660 for my truck due to the 46" long cables and a larger peak amp rating. I've never had it fail to turn over a vehicle, but I thought it may help with the V8.

BTW I attached two strips of heavy duty velcro (the hook side) on each side of the back of the unit. This prevents the unit from sliding around in her truck.

For Christmas I wanted to buy my parents an auto battery starter that would work without them having to get out of their car, since they live in the Rocky Mountains where it can stay below freezing. My husband informed me because of their elevation, climate and they drive an SUV they would need something with a lot my amps; so with his help on line we found the jumpstart 4000. Dad was so excited to get it, he opened it before Christmas and had it out during our visit starting quads that had been sitting out in the snow and not running for quite some time. Then wouldn't you know it our Ford F-250 truck would not start one morning, after a -9 degree F night, when we were taking our one year old to the Urgent care with a 103.7 fever. We grabbed the Jumpstart and the the truck was up and running in minutes. By the time we were headed home from our Rocky Mt.Colorado trip the Jumpstart had been used nearly everyday, even to jump the neighbors snow plow. We were all very impressed with Jumpstart 4000 and knew we made a good purchase.

The only short-coming to this unit is the 23" inch cable leads. These units will out perform "ANY" other unit on the market today and especially the styles that you can buy from the big dept stores. Do any of those "other" units come with a certificate to repair or replace their unit for $25.00? Mine did when I bought it back in 1998 and the unit I have is still working to this day... I believe its now $50.00 to send it in for a one time exchange! An "internal" charger is built into this unit so you don't have to deal with attaching an external charger like some brands have out there to charge it, and who doesn't own an extension cord? I do use my unit commercially and if you can safely hook this unit up to the correct leads on the battery your boosting than this unit will not let you down! Buy it and you'll love it! Note" The 660 Model has 46" inch lead cables and is a larger more powerful unit but. this unit will get the job done if you don't need the longer cable leads.. Enough said! Good Luck, Mike

I have had this in my warehouse for quite a few years. This unit has started everything from a honda civic to a completely dead 18 wheeler. the 18 wheeler took about 7 or 8 minutes. I have since retired and took only one thing with me. The only thing bigger than an 18 wheeler would be the space shuttle.

Came out of my Colorado home to find my Jeep dead. No lights, no click, no nothing.

(Yes, you CAN ride a mountain bike in the snow!) Decided this was a good time to order that portable jump starter I wish I had on vacation 3yrs ago, when I locked my keys in the car overnight in the accessory position...don't ask. The people at the hotel came out with a jump starter: small, weak and totally useless. But it was still a good idea and I wanted one.

Fast forward to winter of 2010. I did a little research, came to Amazon and discovered Clore products. I was worried the Jeep had been inactive for too long, now going on 2 weeks, but she was in a garage so I went for it. I decided the cheaper model might not have enough power, and the more expensive 660 seemed a bit too powerful for my needs. So I got the middle model JNC4000.

Ten days later it arrived. Out of the box I pushed the button to check the battery life and it read between 12 and 13 volts. Having read a couple stories about over charging, I decided it would do no harm to ignore Clore's advise to charge it for 24 hrs before use, and simply try to start my Jeep with the power it arrived with.

True, the short cables are a bit of a drag, I would rather set it on the ground than try to precariously balance it somewhere under the hood, but after the sweet sound of my engine turning over I didn't care about the short cables anymore!! (My jeep beeps when I leave the keys in the ignition, I wish it did that when I left that darn overhead light on!!)

No problem that I have to use an extension cord to charge it, I have PLENTY. They said re-charge it after 2 or 3 months of storage, so I have already taped a piece of paper to the back of it to write down when I recharge it. My only concern is that ideally it should be stored no lower than 50 degrees, and for the time that I am in Colorado how will it work out stored in the back of my jeep in the middle of winter? Decided to keep it in the house and take it every time I leave, kind of a drag but maybe I will wrap it in a thermal blanket so I can feel comfortable leaving it in the vehicle.

I am VERY happy I purchased this and have no regrets.

This charger is really good in that it fit my phone and charged as it was supposed to do. I also like that it was really inexpensive compared to the name brand one that would've cost me alot more. This is expecially so since my phone died a few weeks after receiving this charger. But that is no fault of the charger. Just a pretty old phone. But a good charger.

I retired from a company that uses many batteries for backup plants. These batteries are basically giant versions of a car battery except ours had a lifespan of 20-40 years. I knew that automoble batteries could be made to last much longer if the proper equipment could be found to maintain them. Until this unit was available the equipment on the market was way beyond the means of the average owner. The primary reason for the end of many batteries is sulfate build up on your battery plates.

This unit will maintain a battery and extend its life by roughly a factor of 4X. You can use it to reclaim batteries that have been lost due to sulfation.

I use a previous model to maintain batteries used for my 23KW back up generator. I bought this newer model for my father -in-law. The only difference in this and the older model is the newer unit has a slightly higher charge current and the newer unit is temperature compensated. It is common for many units on the market to boil batteries when charging in high ambient temps. Boiling is not good for a battery.

Caution*** do not try to use this unit to charge a dead battery. It was not designed for this and will not be fun watching the black smoke.

I read up on this vs the battery tender product. The car and motor cycle forums all seemed to like this one better due to the desuflation feature.

I'm using on a jet ski battery. Every year it dies and wont hold a charge and I end up replacing for ~$100. Hopefully this will solve the problem. So far, so good.

The one thing I didnt like was the accessories for the batteryminder are more expensive than the battery tender. However, the battery tender accessories (extended cords and ring adapters) plug right in to the battery minder cables. Although the product description doesn't say it, the batteryminder doesin fact use ASE connectors. So, make your own our buy the cheaper cables.

Best Deals for BatteryMINDer Model 1500: 12 Volt 1.5 Amp

Very happy so far. I have this supporting 2 vehicles. I bought the battery tender harnesses for easy connect and disconnect. I also found a cheap 5 way connector so it is easy to run up to 4 vehicles off this unit. Does what it is supposed to.....maintains the batteries of both vehicles perfectly. I even had one of the vehicles run down (was not connected) to the point the batter would barely turn the starter and hooked it up to see if it would recharge the battery....and it did in less than 10 hours.

Had this a month now. Rescued two 48-volt packs of 12-volt

(one 12-amp and one 10-amp, roughly three years old,

used for hundreds of cycles on ebikes).

Replacement cost woulda been around $250 for all.

This little genius was $50.

Good risk-reward #s.

Batts now charging and performing like new.

(One of the 10-amps has an internal short; this

charger will not repair that!:-).

Over the years, I have tried various wireless FM transmitters. The performance was limited due to 4 or less FM bands that the devices could be set to. I found this GSI model to be the best one I have ever used. It can be set to a range of anywhere between 87.50 and 108MHz. It has an auto shut-off if there is no sound input. It can be plugged into the cigarette lighter which saves the batteries. Most of all, it has the best sound that I have ever gotten from an FM transmitter.

There are a lot of bad reviews on this item. I decided to get it any way as the price was less than a burger and fries so was worth the risk and I didn't need anything fancy.

Either the negative reviewers got a bad one or the device has been upgraded. I have used it several days and I'm am very impressed with how well it works. It has the power to play over existing radio stations and the quality is not bad at all to me. I listen to Pandora from my smart phone.

I have some suggestions for some of the problems that people have said.

The Cig lighter plug only works if the batteries are out of the device.

The device will shut itself off if there is no audio playing.

I'm happy enough to order 3 more for my other cars. (kids cars)

I hope this helps.

For the money this transmiter is okay if you are listening to music. If you are listening to Podcasts or other spoken recordings it does not work as well. I listen to a lot of sermons and other Christian radio broadcasts downloaded off of Itunes. When listening to a spoken program the there is an iritaing hum or ringing type noise. For $10 though this transmiter is not a bad buy especially if you are going to listening primarilly to music.

Review of Brunton Explorer Foldable Solar Panel

Brunton Explorer Foldable Solar Panel One Size
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
Full disclosure, didn't buy this from Amazon. However, I know many will look for reviews of this product here before buying in a physical store.

If you want a portable solar panel that works fast (as solar goes) even in relatively low sunlight, this is the charger for you.

If you like products that come without any documentation, directions, warranty cards, compatibility lists, other any thing but just the product, the packing, and what's written on the outside packaging, this is the charger for you. You might conclude that it's a roll of the dice if this will work with your device. And if so, you'd be correct.

If you have a usb-to-(your device) adaptor, that you absolutely, positively know will work with this product (despite them not providing a detailed compatibility list in the packaging or on the website), then this is the charger for you. I plugged in my ipod 5G and even in moderate light it started charging. However (I bet you saw that however coming, didn't you?), my newer ipod, an ipod touch, wouldn't charge with these panels. There was much sadness. I looked on the Brunton web site (and also did the old Google search) to see if it needed a special adapter beyond my genuine apple usb-to-synch cable. None seem to exist. So, if you have an iphone or, like me, have an itouch, or if your device doesn't come with a usb adaptor, you're out of luck. I think it's important to note that this product was released in 2010 so you think they might have heard of these iphone/itouch thingies possibly in some obscure news article or whatever-by now and would want those customers and make the usb compatible with them.

If you only plan to recharge your devices during the day, this is the product for you. Don't confuse this product with similar looking ones that store a charge that you can use to recharge your device later on. With the Brunton Explorer you're just buying solar panels with a usb connection. No other connections. No battery pack. Period. Full stop. When there is no sun, there is no juice. I mention this because the store salesperson didn't seem to understand this and when she pushed this product on me, she assured me it held a charge. She also told me it would work with my iTouch. So, that should tell you a lot right there.

If you like having to buy additional pricy products to make the stuff that's not working (maybe) work, then this is the product you've been waiting for. If you buy one of the Brunton batteries, this product is supposed to charge it for you to use with your device later. These batteries range between $40 and $700 though. From the reviews I've scanned, not clear if the usb charging ability/compatibility is any different, nor are they apparently sturdy, but I digress.

If you don't mind adding two extra pounds (plus up to 5 lbs more if you buy one of the larger Brunton batteries) to your backpack, then this product is awesome to bring with you packing and camping. It folds up and takes up about as much space as a medium-thick magazine folded in half long-ways.

If you're going to lounge around your sunny camp while your stuff recharges, or if you or aren't afraid your stuff is going to get boosted, or your electronics getting rained on, or all of it blown away if it's windy, then you've got a cool little power station going.

But if you went hiking so you could actually go mobile during the daylight hours, and if you (an added bonus) want to look like a dork, you can connect a couple of carabineers to the grommets on it and drape it down the back of your pack, and have wires running from it to your device dangling around on the trail while it charges and you hike around looking like Solar Man. Think about the dimensions of a Playboy Centerfold hanging off your pack (the paper dimensions, dude, not the girl, grow up). Now, don't get me wrong, if you're Jack Bauer and you have to make a planet saving call dang, I hope Jack doesn't use an iPhone and, you know, you have to tell the President that his daughter was kidnapped and the girl in his house is really a clone planted by mad scientists, and clone-girl is the mole who sold the nuclear codes to the terrorists, then, by all means, dork up and make that call. Save the world, man. Otherwise, unless it's sort of a 9-1-1 situation these four solar panels are a lot of real estate flopping on your back, and you will, indeed, get some double takes and raised eyebrows.

So, all said, this appears to be more of a car camping solar array. However (yeah, you saw it coming again, you're good), why didn't you just buy a $14 dollar charger and charge in your car on the drive up to camp? If you're using the solar panels to save the environment, that's cool; but go buy the really good array and not the one that's supposed to be portable that's my point. This appears to be marketed at backpackers, hence the name "explorer" instead of what they must have called it during beta testing "may not work with your stuff and will make you look like a dork if you try to hang it off your pack solar panels."

I returned this and exchanged it for a solar charger I can actually take on an extended hiking trip. It will charge slow, sure, but it WILL charge my devices. However, (gotcha) if you're not like me and you aren't looking to charge an iphone/itouch/or other too-super-secret-to-include-in-the-box-or-on-the-website-incompatible-usb-devices then this might really be a good product for you.

I give this two stars for rockin-fast and low-light-sensitive solar panels (even if you won't tell me what they work with, that is very cool). Then, minus a star for marketing it for hikers but not making a more backpack friendly design, and finally minus two stars for not including appropriate documentation on web or in the box thus wasting my time, plus misleading the sales staff, ironically causing me to have to use up more gas driving all the way back to the store and return it totally offsetting the whole solar power don't kill the earth thing.

Update. I posted this original review in early 2010. Many thanks to those who enjoyed it and got the point. Just a few extra notes:

I ended up getting a Solio Hybrid. I needed to charge my iPod touch 2nd gen. Was helpful to have last year when the dericho killed all the power on the east coast and kept our phones going and connected to internet.

I was in the 5th grade in 1976. That was a while ago, but I'm almost positive that charging cell phones and mp3 players via usb wasn't part of the curriculum seeing as usb connection technology wouldn't be invented for a few years -not to mention the cell phone. It is good to know that kids are getting that info now. But I'll take a quantum leap here and say if that if you are about my age and your 5th grade teacher's name was Mr. Bakula or Mr. Stockwell you might ask your doctor about some Alzheimer's meds because you're getting fact and science fiction confused. Oh, but fun fact, do you know what was part of the 5th grade curriculum in 1976? Grammar. Too bad they don't seem to teach THAT anymore.

I do concur with some of the criticism below. One should do one's homework on a product. For example, checking the manufacturer's website is one kind of research. Asking the clerk in the store is another (who, by the way was a college kid and in charge of the counter with all the solar products. She must not have gotten her usb-to-device 5th grade power transfer lessons either). Mostly I just wanted to buy something that would charge my iPod on my hiking trip -so I deeply apologize to anyone who was offended that I didn't take the time to get my electrical engineering degree or even take a class at DeVry so I could listen to music and check email when away for a week. So, I stand corrected. Asking for "works with iPod" printed on the packaging is just wrong. I'm a bad man. Shame on me.

For the record. I like many things about this product. I'm pretty sure I listed those, and I don't think I "trashed" it. It's probably good for, um, well, whatever it's for. It just didn't do what I was told it would do, didn't have any documentation saying otherwise, and no other reviews gave me that info. It cost $120 dollars two years ago too. Nonetheless, I'm glad to know this is a good product for a bug-out bag so I'll be able to charge my flashlight and see the four horsemen of the apocalypse coming. But seeing as I won't have my earbuds in (since, you know, I don't have an explorer like you do and it won't charge my iPod), then I'll be able to hear the hoofbeats. However, the DHOH survivalist community owes you a debt of gratitude for info included in one of the reviews. In the meantime, when I don't want to carry that kind of weight when backpacking for pleasure and I'm not escaping zombies or the rape gangs, I'll go for a lighter product.

Final thought: I wouldn't be caught dead wearing smarty pants. I only wear cranky pants. Long ones. Boot cut. Sorry if that's . . . what the word? Oh yes, "stupid." Hmm. Well, you know what they say about stupid is as stupid does. Oh, wait, some of you clearly don't. Well, something to think about then.

I got this solar charger to use charging AA eneloop batteries and my ipod. It has a high power output and works very well with the Brunton Solo Batt Pack, charging 4 AA or AAA batteries relatively quickly. What it cannot do is charge my ipod touch. It turns out that this is because of Apple, not a flaw in the charger. For whatever reason, they made it so that you simply cannot charge a 3rd gen. touch with this charger. What I found quite by accident is that if you plug a Boxwave Ipad charging adapter (
