Bosch 24618-01 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Square Drive Impact Review
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $575.00
Sale Price: $285.00
Today's Bonus: 50% Off

Debated on buying the "high torque" version of this model, but when with this instead. For my needs, it's awesome. I use this pretty much for just automotive work; not a professional mechanic by a long shot, but just work on my car and friends. I swapped the shocks in my moms car recently, and this saved me I would guess an hour in the process, and it's FUN to use.
I got this one for an absolute steal on Amazon warehouse it was in used/like new condition, so I was hesitant, but it just looked like someone opened the box, and returned it immediately. With 2 batteries, a charger, nice case and the driver, $135 was just too good to pass up.
Pros: I'm a Bosch convert. All their power tools that I now own just fit well in my hand, are well balanced, feel quality, the batteries last forever, and charge quick. In fact, I don't see me looking at any other brand, they're just that well designed (ze germans, no?). If you do the math, this puts out around 135lbs/ft of torque, which is almost double what my Bosch 12v impact driver puts out. It's not heavy, it's not huge, but puts out bolt snapping torque in a small package. Two batteries included are a huge plus, even at the new price this is a great deal. They charge... insanely quick. Maybe I hadn't drained it, but it seemed like 15 minutes until fully charged, which is nuts. LED is a nice touch. Progressive trigger is also somewhat a rarity in the bigger impact drivers; this has it which is nice doesn't try to jump out of your hand. Also has the brake function, so when you let of the trigger, it just stops spinning immediately. Keeps nuts from flying out of sockets, which is a pain. Ergonomics, power, and battery life are the key features, and it's very well priced.
Cons: LED could be brighter; no battery meter.
Conclusion: If you don't work on tractors or things that require massive amounts of torque (i.e. above 130ft/lbs), I don't think there is a better 1/2 driver out there. I have a Dewalt, and now basically hate it (twice as heavy, worse battery, poor ergonomics/balance, same power). Can't say enough about Bosch tools, they are my new go-to brand when looking for anything new.
I like the variable speed and trigger ergonomics (as opposed to dewalt, for example), but haven't found a need for the LED work light (I'd prefer to have the option to switch it off). It's really lightweight, too.
For higher torque, I'll get the big Bosch impact, but for wheels, suspension work, etc., I think this will be fine. My only other cordless impact experience was with a snap on 1/2 18v, which was great, but when spending my own money, this little Bosch does the job just fine.

I have found the bosch impact wrench has exceeded my expectations, I thought perhaps the HT version would be required to change 4wd wheels but this does it with ease. Driving 4 inch tek screws is also not a problem. It has run well on both the slim and large batteries and is easily adapted between 1/2 drive to 1/4 hex (after market adaptor needed). Pleased I purchased this product.Best Deals for Bosch 24618-01 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Square Drive Impact
It's a solid Impact Wrench, does its job very well and consistently so. I use it for the tracking my car and changing wheels often. The wrench is easy to use, has good charge, and is powerful enough to do all the jobs. It's rubberized in all the right places and you can feel the quality manufacturing of this product. I highly recommend it. I just wish it had more optional attachments for the battery so I could use bosch products everywhere.Honest reviews on Bosch 24618-01 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Square Drive Impact
great impact wrench. more convenient than using air tools for removing lug nuts. love the power/torque & light. only thing lacking is a way to adjust torque to prevent over tightening of lug nuts besides letting off the trigger early. this thing is powerful & will not disappoint. order some impact sockets when you order this wrench if you plan on removing lug nuts. i love this tool & will only buy bosch products from now on. since using this product i've ordered a bosch 3/8" 18 volt drill(batteries are interchangeable) & a bosch oscillating tool & numerous bosch accessories on amazonFind helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Bosch 24618-01 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Square Drive Impact

Cheap Uniden Handheld TrunkTracker IV Digital Police Scanner (BCD396XT)

I've owned scanners since the mid-'70s and this little beast is the finest one I've ever owned, hands down. It has more features than I'll ever use (or comprehend), but it's tidy, compact form factor, superlative audio, and superb built quality puts it in a class all its own.
If you decide to get one, please do yourself a huge favor and get a decent USB programming cable...yes, a serial cable comes packed with the rest of the goodies, but how many people have access to serial ports on their computers these days? Don't toss the serial cable, with the optional GPS rig and a null modem, you can enjoy GPS-enabled scanning wherever you go!
And there are several excellent programming programs available; I use Freescan which makes programming ridiculously easy, especially if you subscribe to a site like radioreference...programming digital modes is a cake walk.
Yes, I am delighted with my 396XT and have become a 'true believer' .
Thanks for reading!

This is my first scanner and after 1 day I had all the counties in my state programmed. I went with police, sheriff, Fish and game, and state patrol only.
1. Order the car charger, also you will need a 9 pin male adapter with a usb port. The scanner comes with a 9 pin female adapter.
2. Order ARC-XT Basic Software. This is the software that makes programming much easier. It also has an online manual you can click for reference.
3. Equally important under the internet tab you will see the radioreference icon. Click that and order a 6 month subscription for roughly $9.00 create your user name and password and they also accept paypal. This internet site will work inconjunction with your ARC-XT software and allow you to click on your state or where ever your located and you simply scroll through the couinties, then click import, followed by copy to clip board, next you click the upper send icon which is a radio icon. This automatically sends all frequencies and names of the department to your scanner.
4. Lastly, and i blew this the first time dont forget to hit the save icon, and save as profile(i used my first name) this way all your county, state, federal, ect frequencies will be saved on the left side of your profile. At any time you can upload them all, or make changes to them. If you close the window after spending a good hour or two selecting all the frequencies from various counties they will not be saved. So dont make the mistake I did save save save your profile.
If you still have trouble look up scannermasters.com online, they have a live help chat, a remote access to your computer app, and if you prefer you can send your radio in and have them program it.
Anyway, its very well organized, picks up the signals well, and is easy on the batteries. Does exactly what its supposed to. Haven't found any bugs either. Finally, this year they have an actual manual. The website that tried to be a manual is horrible.
This scanner has helped me navigate traffic on the interstates many times. I won't send this one back. Eventhough I think its overpriced, I'll be keeping it.
I've had the Uniden BCD396XT for a month or so and am still discovering new features daily. If you're anything like me, I had no understanding about scanners when I purchased this except that I knew I wanted a scanner that could scan analog, digital, and trunking systems. When I first turned it on and began playing with it I was a little overwhelmed by its lack of good documentation. I halfway expected a $400+ device to just start picking up stuff in my town out of the box but it turned out I just didn't understand the basics of how scanners worked. Now that I've had some time to play with it, I'm quite satisfied with its feature set and capabilities.
PROS:
Scans pretty much any non-encrypted source including CB/FM/AM/Trunking systems (digital and analog)
Portable (I can take it in my car, leave it on my desk, or carry it with me)
Advanced programming features (hook it up to your PC with FreeScan and program stuff quickly)
Battery life is good (I can leave it on for about 8 hours before the low battery warning comes on)
Comes with a set of rechargeable batteries (simply plug it in to charge them)
CONS:
Expensive!!
Average antenna (portable antennas like this don't pick up as much. However can be hooked up to a better one easily)
Steep learning curve (be ready to do some reading and keyboard smashing from getting frustrated)
TIPS/RESOURCES:
Get a USB -> Serial adapter like the Trendnet RS-232 (This will make your life much more enjoyable when programming from the PC)
Download FreeScan by SixSpot Software (free free free is good!)
Google "easier to read 396xt scanner manual" by marksscanners (puts things into simpler terms than the Uniden manual)
Check out radioreference.com for a free collection of frequencies for different agencies/public services in your areas (you can use the copy/paste function of FreeScan to import these into the app)
Set the Squelch low (noob mistake on my part. I had Squelch set too high and it was filtering out everything. I accidentally bumped it down and all of a sudden I heard things going on).
Feel free to email/reply to me if you are having issues :)
than any scanner out there, very nice and large typeface.
If you've experience with programming software in the past should be no problem to use.
However with all things new, if you have not, there is a learning curve.
Beware, that if you are planning to use it for the newer P25 Simulcast systems the
audio and receives are very choppy and inaudible. Check the internet and radioreference.com
a lot of discussion on this subject and how scanner mfrs have not entirely solved this

I bought the analog version last year this time, and enjoyed it for a month before I returned it. It was too much money for what it did. This year, I tried again, but stepped up to the digital version. This scanner picks up everything in my area (except my encrypted county). Once I added an external antenna, things came in loud and clear. It takes a LOT of practice. it is very complicated and your knowledge of radios will have to increase. After over a month, I am still practicing daily.Anyway, its very well organized, picks up the signals well, and is easy on the batteries. Does exactly what its supposed to. Customer Ratings:
List Price: $19.95
Sale Price: $10.60

What can I say? I bought a sealed lead acid battery and a 5 volt USB converter so I could use my iPhone gadgets while kayaking in the wilderness. This charger, uh, charges the battery like it's supposed to. It's handy to have the red/green LED's so I know when the battery is fully charged.
This charger is wonderful when used properly, but didn't fit my needs.
I recommend this product, but it could have improvements.
Good that it's dual-stage so it treats the batteries relatively well (as well as a $10 charger can).
Best thing, though, is that it has indicator LEDs unlike some other cheap chargers, so you actually know when the pack is ready to use.

This charger works quite well for smaller applications, but it simply doesn't have the amps needed to effectively charge my 8ah sealed lead acid battery. It takes over 16hrs to fully charge my battery, but i knew this ahead of time. This charger does get warm during operation which is surprising given the miniscule current draw. The "charged/Charging" light is nice, but doesn't have any indication as to the voltage nor the charging current. The charging red light will slowly fade to off hours before the charged light comes on. (keeping in mind it takes 16hrs to charge my 8amp/hr battery)This charger is wonderful when used properly, but didn't fit my needs.

Review of OEM Sprint Micro USB Rapid Car Vehicle Auto Plug in Battery Charger
I bought this in August of 2011. The product I bought does not look exactly like the one in the picture. My product is still working. I like the fact that I can add an extra phone to charge using the USB connector. It fits well into the car charger point and it is easy to plug into a wall outlet. I live the fact I do not have to carry multiple charges while traveling.I was very disappointed wit this product...... I had it for about a week and the product no longer worked........ I will never purchase this item again or recommend anyone else to purchase it either.. Had to end up purchasing a different charger. This item breaks to easily!!!!!

I have only used this product once. I was real excited to get this case and I installed it right away. It looked solid and for the most part with a huge exception that the case slides onto the mount that attaches to your bike. It does not lock into the mount as it should. I road my bike two blocks when the case came off of the mount sending my iphone crashing to the ground. Ill never used this again. Going over just a little bumpy road made the case come loose from the mount. I couldn't imagine this working at all on a motorcycle which is what it is advertized for. The only good thing about this case is that when my phone went flying off of my handlebars, it was safely protected in the case even after bouncing a few times.Friday, June 13, 2014

There is a great deal of confusion about what models of iPod work with this unit. I have the 60GB video iPod and it works fine. 15 hour flight to China and no problems at all power to spare, even watching video most of the time. The "clip on arrangement does not fit the video iPod but that isn't too big a problem.
As a substitute, I bought this Maxell one. It's OK, but there are two complaints. 1) It's bigger than an iPod and with 4 AA batteries, it's considerably heavier. 2) It costs around $25.00 because it includes a really awkward collection of plastic holders, clamps, belt cilps and doodads which, for me are all totally unnecessary. You don't use a battery pack while hiking or at the gym, you use it on a plane during long flights small and light are the important features. However, I don't see many alternatives at the moment so, I'm happy with reservations.
When you switch the power button on, your iPod switches automatically on too: I think this is the -safest and probably most effectiveway to use this device.
On the matter of not charging the internal battery of the iPod: I think this is fantastic! The internal battery has only a limited amount of [dis]charge cycles and is spared this way, thus lenghtening your iPod's lifespan. And: research has indicated that the kind of battery built in iPods age considerably when kept fully charged [like in a dock, or connected to a charger]: with 'The Pack' you can keep the internal battery permanently 50% charged, a state in which the internal battery does NOT age!
But there's more. With two good sets of 4 NiMH [say 2500 mAh a piece] batteries and a charger, or with disposables, you can -if you wish tokeep your iPod mobile non-stop without the annoying charging sessions which, in my opinion, shorten the lifetime of an iPod considerably too when you do this via your pc. One can read so many stories about dying iPods when they are connected to the computer, supposedly many things can go wrong during this procedure. And when you're in a car, plane or at home: who cares about the extra weight of the battery-pack.
Last but not least: my iPod works much longer on one set of 4 AA 2500 mAh rechargeables than on one charge of the internal battery. Ten hours of video is no problem. On average, with varied ways of using [music, games and video] the battery-pack works -within a period of days when you use NiMH's, they have a very high selfdischarge rate24 hours!
Update: it does work with my 1G iPod Touch 32GB too. However, the internal battery of the Touch has to be fully charged!
I'm pleased to report that it worked well, at least in initial tests. It fit into the sleeve snugly and the supplied battery to iPod cord fit well into the iPod. When I turned on the battery back-up, the charging light on the iPod increased to full. I'd imagine that it would decrease as the AA batteries are drained so you'll know if you have to put in new AA batteries.
Remember that this isn't a re-charger but rather a battery extender. If you allow the iPod battery to drain, this won't ressurect it. So if you're type A, you might want to pack an extra set of batteries in case the battery gauge gets too low for comfort.

There is a great deal of confusion about what models of iPod work with this unit. I have the 60GB video iPod and it works fine. 15 hour flight to China and no problems at all power to spare, even watching video most of the time. The "clip on arrangement does not fit the video iPod but that isn't too big a problem.

I was disappointed when Belkin discotinued their Tune Juice, a very small external power pack that used a regular 9 volt (smoke alarm size) battery. I assume it must not have worked with all the newer iPods. As a substitute, I bought this Maxell one. I ordered this one for traveling purpose. I have a G5 60G video ipod. I just got the backup battery pack today and noticed on the package that it was not compatible with "G5 Video". I called the Maxell tech support and found out it is compatible but the clip case is not compatible with G5 video. Even the manual came with the battery pack shows that G5 video is one of the ipods NOT compatible with this pack. After talking with the tech support, I opened it and tried it with my G5 60G video ipod and was relieved to find out it works. The clip on case doesn't fit with G5 60G ipod but if you don't need the case, it does work as backup battery.Honest reviews on Maxell P-2 2-G Rechargeable Back-Up Battery Pack
This is a great product. In spite of some reviews it DOES work too with the 80 GB iPod Video [I've got three of them from 2006 & 2007 and the Maxell performs splendid with all three]. It doesn't matter if you use rechargeable or disposable AA batteries. When you switch the power button on, your iPod switches automatically on too: I think this is the -safest and probably most effectiveway to use this device.

I have an iPod classic (video) 80GB. I originally bought the battery pack for my 30GB iPod, but it kicked the bucket before I could try it. So I was hoping it would work with the gen. 6 models.I'm pleased to report that it worked well, at least in initial tests. This product performs as advertised. The fact that the plug folds into the body is the best and worst thing about it. It does fold flat for travel, but it doesn't really lock into place when unfolded very well. This is not really a problem if you plug it in with the ports facing the floor, but if you want them facing the ceiling (for better cord reach and access), the unit tends to want to fall away from the wall.
The other problem I have had is that the plug itself doesn't 'grab' the outlet very well. Several times I have picked up my device and found it to have only a partial charge because the plug has slipped out of the outlet enough to lose the electrical connection.
None of these are really deal breakers, but do leave some room for improvement.

A very nicely designed product that is great for all USB charging devices. Although not extremely light weight, it is highly recommended for today's travel purpose. Wish to have it sooner.Sunday, May 25, 2014
Cheap Optima 8022-091-FFP RedTop Group 75/25 Starting Battery
My 2002 vette needed a new battery and instead of buying the OEM Delco I decided on the Optima RedTop for a lot less money and more starting power. The engine never cranked better on start up.
NOTE-
Amazon doesnt allow returns for Car battery's so i guess i have to eat $100+. I realize you do get a bad batch, but not being able to return is what warrants the low review.
So be aware the money you are thinking you are saving maybe costing you big time. You should also know that for marine batteries Otima is strongly reccomending the use of there $200 charger to keep them charged properly.
Hello John,
Amazon.com is not an authorize online OPTIMA retailer, We do not know where they acquire the OPTIMA batteries nor does Amazon.com honor the OPTIMA warranty.
when you think about how much you depend on the thing its pretty reasonable to spend the extra money IF the product is true to its claims.
in my experience these things are worth paying extra for. i never worry about them.

Worked great for 6months, then lost current. Wouldn't turn the starter over with out putting it on charge. Got progressively worse. Bought a battery tester and the battery failed the test.NOTE-

These batteries are the most cost effective on the market, especially in applications where they are not used often. They will hold a charge for more than a year in storage e.g., antique cars.
