We purchased our cell phone at WalMart, and the contents paper said to contact AT&T for accessories. I did. After 10-15 minutes online with an agent, she came back and said "We don't carry that item. Can I interest you in another cell phone?" No thanks.

My husband told me to contact SamSung which I did. I typed in my info, but nothing. I thought "Well, I'll try Amazon." SHOULD have been my first stop/try. I am so glad to find this charger, AND it works very well.

We travel to Florida, Houston and New Orleans visiting our sons as well as Michigan visiting my brothers. We hope to go to TN, GA, NC in late summer for sightseeing.

We'd hardly make it with out our little charger.

This was the cheapest way to buy a car charger for my samsung phone. I like how Amazon.com has all the phone accessories at a reasonable price. Well worth the money.

Another accessory in the line of products for the iPod from Griffin Technology. I am the owner of a few of their previous products and like them for the usefulness, quality and value for the dollar. The PowerBlock is no different. This products purpose is to provide AC power to your iPod. This is useful for me when I am at work and my battery dies. The PowerBlock also comes with a usb to dock connector cable so you can leave the one that comes with the iPod at home connected either to the dock or the computer. Nice bonus because I always seem to leave it at the place I don't need it. I am kind of an iPod junkie by owning a 30G 3G, 512MB shuffle and my newest edition the 60 gb iPod with video. So needless to say I can use a charger at some point. I think it was with the 4G that Apple decided to stop including an AC adapter cause I have the one that came with my 3G. It has a Firewire connector on it. Apple now sells the USB AC Adapter as an accessory to chagrin of many iPod owners myself included. The size of the AC adapter is nice and compact and is similar to Apple's product with the foldable AC plug. This makes it nice for transporting to and from home.

So with those words we move on to the testing of the Powerblock.

Test #1 iPod Shuffle

You don't need the cable (included) to charge the shuffle. You just plug the Shuffle into the PowerBlock and the PowerBlock into the receptacle and away you go. The fit of the Shuffle is tight and this test worked just as one could expect.

Test #2 iPod 3G

As I noted above , my 3G came with a Firewire cable and AC charger. The 3G normally resides in my truck via a Kenwood adapter. Occasionally I will use this at work as well. Well the 3G needed charging and I thought I'd give the PowerBock a whirl. Using the included cable I crawled under my desk (not an easy feat) and plugged it it. The Apple icon appeared on the iPod but it would not charge. I thought I might have something wrong but how could I, it was so easy with shuffle. I did not have the packaging instructions with me at work but a quick trip to the company website put me in touch with reality ... the 3G is not compatible. So I was a bit disappointed but it was clearly documented on their website. This was confirmed by an email to tech support. It could have been more timely as it took nine days to receive an answer from Technical support. I do have to give a kudos to Griffin Technology. They have a compatibility chart on their website that references the various iPod models with their products so you can be sure the product you buy will be compatible. And I might add if you are in doubt, please feel free to email them. I think it is in the iPod's firmware but am not completely sure of that so don't quote me on it. There are reviews on the Apple website stating a Firewire cable will not charge a 4G iPod. A dock connector is not a always a dock connector I guess !!

Test #3 -iPod 5G

My pristine 5G iPod was the final test for the PowerBlock. Still new enough to be cycling the battery it was at work where it finally ran out of juice. I plugged the PowerBlock into the powerbar and using the included cable connected my iPod. No surprises here, the adapter worked as planned. During charging the adapter ran warm to the touch but not hot.

Value:

If you have a need for an AC adapter and your iPod is compatible, I highly recommend the PowerBlock. Compared to the Apple product you get the Adapter and dock connector cable for $29.99, the two separate products from Apple total $48.

Requirements:

* 5th Generation iPod with Video

* iPod nano

* iPod shuffle

* iPod mini

* iPod Photo

* 4th Generation iPod with Click Wheel

Ipods are power-hungry electronic devices and sometimes it's just unconvenient to charge your Ipod through your PC when you aren't even going to use your computer while it is charging. Thankfully, Griffin made this USB power adaptor for your Ipod that you can just take with you anywhere there isn't a computer to be found. Just plug it into any wall outlet and you're set.

At about $30, it is a bit expensive once you realize that it's such a simple device, but that will pay off once you see how convenient it is. It is also small enough to fit in your pocket and the plug folds for easy storage.

To charge my Ipod through my computer it took nearly 4 hours, and for me thats a bit too long especially when I'm not even going to use my computer. With this it only took about 2 and a half hours and it seems the Ipod battery lasts alot longer when it is charged using this rather than the USB port on my computer. I don't know much about electricity and battery power but I believe it charges faster probably because it is directly in an outlet rather than the electricity having to travel all the way to the USB port of your computer and then to your Ipod.

The Griffin Power Block also comes with a USB cable. This is such a nice bonus considering the Apple USB power adaptor doesn't include one and their's costs about $10 more. I believe the Apple power adaptor is also larger.

If you want the best USB power adaptor for your Ipod 4th and 5th gen., Nano, or Shuffle then this is the one to go to.

Best Deals for Griffin PowerBlock/AC Charger for USB Devices (White)

The box states "AC charger for USB devices". I knew this was made specifically for Ipod, but I was hoping that it would charge other USB devices too (USB devices that I know can be charged through USB, that is). No luck, though, it only worked on the ipod. Worse, however, whenever I plugged a different USB device into this charger, the device would say "charging", but not actually BE charging. I had my phone plugged in all night thinking it was charging, but instead it wore down the battery more than just leaving the phone in standby mode.

So, if you're planning on getting this only for ipod, then yes, it works great. It is small, lightweight, and I love the way the plug folds in for easy travel. If you're hoping to be able to charge other usb devices, forget it... try something else.

Honest reviews on Griffin PowerBlock/AC Charger for USB Devices (White)

I had some initial reservations before purchasing this product, since the description did not mention compatibility with the iPod touch 2G. However, Griffin Technology's site indicated that it was indeed compatible and I went with that.

Another concern was whether or not the cable would support syncing as well as charging, since other products I researched did not offer this capability.

I'm happy to report that this product meets my needs perfectly. I'm able to charge my iPod touch 2G via USB or with the adapter, and the detachable USB cable also works to sync my iPod. I'm very pleased with the product.

Although this product accomplishes its end goal of charging your Ipods, there are simpler an cheaper methods for accomplishing this. First let me review the product:

Strengths:

It's Apple white (like anybody cares any more)

The charger itself allows the prongs that insert into the outlet to be folded away for convenience, protection, etc.

You get a spare communications cable that attaches to your Ipod and the computer; so you have a spare

The connector for the charger unit is a basic USB connector so you can use this to charge other USB devices such as those that you connect with a mini-USB connection (cameras, Nintendo DS-Lite, etc.)

Weaknesses:

The charger is only the basic USB 2.0 standard amperage. This is a shame because although this may be fine for the Ipod if you wanted to charge other USB devices, this may only represent a trickle amperage and you device will charge slowly.

Essentially, it works and its convenient but not perfect.

Recommendation:

Go to Walmart, go to the Electronics section, find one of the many multi-plug universal chargers with USB charging capability, get the one with the largest amperage capacity, save at least $10, and enjoy the fact that you came out ahead AND can charge / power multiple devices when needed.

was easily able to put board from broken case into this one, you will need super glue or some kind of appoxy to close case, it does not just snap together. Seems to be made of thick quality plastic that will hold up with use. My previous one cracked all around the panic button. Only complaint is the the battery cover from previous case (which was the one from Dodge when vehicle was purchased) does not fit this case perfectly, the opening is a little bigger for the cover, but I was able to get it to snap into place and is not noticeable, also it is a matte finish and the original key is more glossy so when you put the old battery cover on this case it does look different in appearance but I am sure after some wear and tear it will blend in.

I needed this for a 3 bank system on my trawler. My old Xantrex died without warning. This is fairly quiet when operating. The display is useful and you can see exactly where it is set at any time without a flashlight or guessing. Easy to install and charged my banks (which were fully depleted) in under 4 hours. Very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this charger for my new cell phone. I really like the retractable cord, it's great to be able to plug it in to my car and not have awkward, stiff cord to try to find space for too. The cord is fairly long, so it can be extended as needed. I only have 2 concerns about this product, one is that it doesn't charge my phone very quickly, my previous charger (which doesn't fit my new phone) charged my phone very quickly. My second concern is that the unit gets quite hot.

There is nothing wrong with this shroud except the vent and the AC on a Chinook motorhome were too close together by about 2" for it to fit. I laid it back intending to return it but never did because of the cost of return shipping. I had forgotten about it until asked to write this review. The reason for three stars only is I think the listing should have told me how much clearance was needed around the vent to install it. It is headed for Craigslist one of these days. Don't let this review stop you from purchasing it as it looks well made. Just measure your clearance carefully.

Lost the A/C cover while on a trip to the desert. Being that this was an older RV, I couldn't find an exact one like the one I lost. Had to go to Dometic to find the new part number. Different RV's come with different color covers and each color is a different part number. Once I figured that out, I went with the cheapest one and it fits perfect. Instructions were easy to follow and I saved about $150 doing it myself.

I purchased this little gadget while deployed, in hopes of being able to charge my electronics while in areas without outlets. It works fine with my Kindle and Nintendo DS, however, it will not charge my 4G iPod. Please not that it explicitly says on the packaging that it will charge iPods. I contacted the manufacturer and they admitted that it was the charger, not the iPod, that is dysfunctional. Any potential buyers need to be aware of this, and I wish they would adjust their packaging to reflect what the charger is capable of.

In contrast to the other review, this has become a huge addition to me, a black hole for all geeky electric gadgets. Saved my bacon a zillion times already, most notable was a motorcycle trip where it charged an iPod, a cell phone, and my GPS to get me to civilization; I will never ride without it! Construction is very high quality, small & light, charges quickly, charges up multiple devices between charges. I didn't undergo a gamut of detailed tests like the other reviewer just pulled it out of the box waited for it to charge and haven't looked back. For $20 it's a steal, one is sitting my wife's x-mas stocking as I type!

Best Deals for IOGEAR GearPower High Capacity Portable Battery Pack GMP1001B

did not hold a charge tried it 3 times did not charge all the way up not even 1 full charge.

Honest reviews on IOGEAR GearPower High Capacity Portable Battery Pack GMP1001B

I got three of these on a whim, not knowing exactly how well they would work, how many recharges they would do, and so on, but knowing I needed a compact recharger with a regulated supply. I ordered three and, once I got past the lack of helpful instructions, I haven't wanted to be without one for three years. I have filled and discharged each many times.

Pros

* Compact and easy to stash in even a small pocket

* Will charge all of my devices, including a power-hungry older DroidX and a Samsung player

* Provides two full recharges and up to several partial recharges

* Fairly quick recharge (perhaps around 20% slower than a 1000mA wall wart)

* Recharging is easy -plug into any USB port with 600mA capacity, wait a couple hours, and that's it

* Comes with an amazing array of adapters (but see cons)

* Auto-off if power button is depressed but no device is attached

* Automatically stops charging from USB when full (remains at a trickle)

* Doesn't become appreciably warm on charging from USB or charging a device

* NiMH battery inside -this is a pro because they are capable of discharging to a device pretty rapidly (but see cons)

* The indicator lights are bright enough to distinguish in daylight (but see cons)

Cons

* Lacking (as of the 2010 model) one key adapter -USB micro

* Instructions aren't especially clear on how to initiate charging of your device (see Other thoughts)

* Power button is not recessed enough, and you can accidentally power-cycle one if stored flat against anything (for instance a book or another one of these battery packs)

* NiMH battery inside -this is a con because they self-discharge over time and thus 'waste' a charge cycle (expecting about 500 per unit)

* The indicator lights are bright at night, which to dark-adjusted eyes is quite intense and may necessitate covering it (but don't store upside-down or the button will be pressed and possibly interrupt the recharging)

Other thoughts

* What the instructions in my version (appx from 2010) don't say very clearly are that to charge your device, plug in the device, then hold the power button on the battery pack until the lights all turn on and start to flash; then release. A quick press doesn't initiate a recharge. This may have been addressed in later versions, but that's how mine works. It's a key point since you could think it's charging the device but it's not. Also, once it is charging the device, the lights go off, which is disconcerting from the standpoint of the user knowing what's going on. It's a pro of course that the energy isn't wasted on lights.

* Not sure what other reviewers are talking about with low quality. These are solidly built, not going to fall apart. The seams all align, the external material is nice-quality, smooth and matte. The power button works fine, the lights all display correctly. I think the build is really quite good. I have three, and 3/3 work fine, no issues. I would buy them again if lithium packs were unavailable.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for IOGEAR GearPower High Capacity Portable Battery Pack GMP1001B

Functions as a charging device for my phone just fine. The low star count is due to bad design and cheap manufacturing.

The power cable is a MiniUSB on one end, and your preference of connector type on the other. Due to low quality of these connectors I have had the microSD connector break (the plastic shell of the connector split). Due to the use of MiniUSB as a connector finding an aftermarket Mini to Micro USB cable has proven problematic.

I highly recommend anyone getting a mobile power device find one with a standard USB output jack to allow you to use your own cable.

This is one great grease gun! The fact that you can hold the connector with one hand while greasing makes all the difference! No more trying to pump the handle with the barrel of the grease gun against your knee! Just push it on and pull the trigger.

The product is well built and comes with good instructions. My case does not have spots for two extra tubes of grease, could be a vendor difference, or an update.

I bought this item after having a similar item from Harbor Freight fail. Although both items were called the same thing, there is no comparison in their construction, quality, or performance. The Lincoln unit is head and shoulders superior. This is the one to get.

Best Deals for Lincoln Lubrication 1244 PowerLuber 12 Volt Cordless Grease Gun

Ive seen these things go through years of systematic abuse. Dragged on pavement, slammed, dropped endless times on concrete, and fiercely cussed because they simply ran out of grease. I saw a fellow smash his toe, and out of pure rage, he went completely insane and threw one of these things into a solid block wall not 4 feet away. It survived, having already suffered at least 3 years of abuse by numerous other people. The plastic part surrounding the motor is vulnerable, i have seen them break. I finally bought one. I have no regrets or complaints. Nothing cheap looking, sounding, or acting about them. Very nice set in a rugged, attractive carrying case. Nothing you would want to put in your wife's stocking or buy your girlfriend on her birthday, but definitely a nice addition in the guys garage. These are exceptional grease guns and I do recomment one. I dont know much about the other brands but if its not a Lincoln, then I just don't care.

Honest reviews on Lincoln Lubrication 1244 PowerLuber 12 Volt Cordless Grease Gun

This tool makes greasing equipment so much more enjoyable! Even if you only use it for something such as a garden tractor, keeping one hand free to place the hose onto the grease fitting and one hand to run the gun is well worth while.

This is the second Lincoln PowerLuber I've owned. The first went along with the rest of my construction equipment when I sold my excavation business. I have a couple of tractors and hated having to hold the grease tip on the fitting with one hand while trying to pump the handle with the other. Not a problem now. Also, in cold weather, or with stubborn fittings, the gun puts out more pressure than lever or hand pump guns. I recommend it. The 12 volt unit works fine for residential or small farm use. The 18 volt is best if you own more than a couple of pieces of equipment.

First let me start out by saying that I gave this vendor an opportunity to make a wrong right, but was simply ignored, which hence is the reason for my disappointment. These mats were purchased as a birthday gift for my husband's prized Dodge Challenger. When they arrived, I just had him open them in front of me and to both our surprise, they were scuffed and had clearly been USED by someone else, who I'm guessing returned to and the company simply re-boxed them and mailed them out to us. My husband was nice about it but it really upset me that I payed for new product and got inferior product instead and was ignored after making a complaint, which caused further insult. My husband insisted that we keep the mats because he didn't want to go through the hassle BUT I am not a "happy camper" with this company at all. You decide if it's worth it or not, the decision is up to you, but there are alot of companies out there that want our business and I'm looking at other options.......

Thanks and good luck!!

The retractable feature is nice and convenient but the cord is flimsy, especially where it joins at the connector. Mine is nearly broken off. My suggestion to get longer life out of it, is to pull the connector (carefully and slowly) out by holding the cord. Don't pull it out by holding the connector as I did for little while. It will start to break at that area. There is a red power light to let you know it is plugged in to the receptacle. It stays on all the time. Item works but was designed with planned obsolescence in mind. I wish the cord was a heavier gauge. It looks like 22 gauge wire, too thin to be pulling on all the time. I am rating this 4 star because I've had my charger for 2 years and 8 months and it is still working but near the end of its life. You can lengthen the life by following my suggestion.

Nice unit; works as advertised. Seems a little insubstantial I would have made the retractable just a bit heftier and a bit longer but so far, it is working just as expected.

I give it five stars because it is a good unit that does exactly what it claims to do in its packaging, and as written on its sides.

Since the product page is capable of showing four different devices, I wanted to be crystal clear about the fact that I'm writing about all four devices, here.

I'm not shown as a verified purchaser, here, because I am very familiar with all four of these devices by other means. They're all excellent! However, the amperage is misleading. It's not 3.6 amps at 5 volts and 18 watts out of either USB port; in other words, if only one device were plugged-in to it, said device would not have the entire 3.6 amps available to it. If you enlarge the photos of the devices (or use the little hover-over magnifier thingy on the product page), you can see that it says, on the side of at least the 120VAC wall outlet device...

OUTPUT: APPLE 2.1 A, ANDROID 1.5A

...and then next to the ports there are pointers to which port is which, Apple vs Android. So it's telling us that the "Apple" port is limited to outputting 2.1 amps, and the "Android" port is limited to outputting 1.5 amps.

Though the limit-per-port is not made clear on the other three car-charger devices, their ports are nevertheless also labeled "Apple" and "Android," and the same port limits for each exist even on the car-chargers.

However, even an Android device, if plugged-in to the "Apple 2.1A" jack will get 2.1 amps, and vice versa. And so even owners of such as the "phablet" Samsung Galaxy Note II, like I have, which requires a 2 amp charge in order to recharge at full speed, can use this device. In fact, it's absolutly perfect for my wife and my phones... hers is a Samsung Exhilarate which requires about an amp to recharge at full speed; and so I can plug my Note II into the 2.1 amp Apple port, and she can plug her Exhilarate into the 1.5 amp Android port, and both devices get the same maximum-required-for-full-speed-charge amperage as if they were using the chargers that shipped with them (that is, assuming we're using USB cables capable of carrying up to 2.1 amps... which, of course, we are).

So, then, in the end, everything works out; but just make sure you understand how the amperage is allocated so you don't think that you'll get access to 3.6 amps if you plug your big tablet (which needs, let's say, 2.5 amps, minimum, in order to charge at normal speed), alone, into the device.

And remember that when I say "available to it," I mean exactly that: available to it, not how much current it was actually drawing. If a device is rated at needing 2 amps in order to fully charge at full speed, then that's all it will draw (assuming its USB cable can handle that kind of load), no matter how many amps are "available to it." So, in other words, a phone or tablet needing 2.1 amps current in order to fully charge at full speed will not draw 3.6 amps, and charge even faster, if that larger amperage is made available to it. That's not how these sorts of things work. Unlike voltage, amperage is a "pull" or "draw" sort of thing; a device pulls only what it needs (or is rated at), no matter what's available to it. Voltage, on the other hand... er... well... wait a minute... now I'm starting to get into a lecture about Ohm's Law. Just trust that I know what I'm talking about, here.

So, BOTTOM LINE...

All four of these devices -the one for the 120VAC wall outlet, and the three for the 12VDC car cigarette lighter sockets -are all capable of delivering up to 3.6 amps of current.

If two devices requiring 2.1 amps each are simultaneously plugged-in to both ports, then the one plugged-in to the 1.5 amp port will be limited to only 1.5 amps of current, and so will charge a little slower than if it were using its native 2.1 amp charger. On the other hand, if two devices requiring only 1.2 amps of current, each, are simultaneously plugged-in to both ports, then they will each draw only 1.2 amps of current, even though they both have more amperage available to them.

All four divices will, in any case, not burn-up or "blow," like a fuse, if phones or tablets requiring more amperage than the chargers' ports can provide are plugged-in to them. Rather, each charger's port will provide the maximum that it can, up to whatever is the port's limit, and that's the simple end of it. However slow or fast the phone or tablet charges, as a result, will simply depend on the circumstances. There's all kinds of safety, in any case, built-in to these devices... fear not.

Do ensure, though, that whatever USB cable you use is intended for use in charging as well as data transfer; and is also capable of carrying whatever amperage your device requires. To play it the safest, simply ensure that the USB data/charging cable you use is rated at up to 2.5 amps for charging purposes. That rating will easily handle the needs of pretty much any smartphone or tablet of pretty much any make or model out there. Only a much larger tablet might (and I stress that word) require more than 2.5 -in fact, more than only 2.1, truth be known -amps at 5 volts. USB cables rated at only 2.1 amps are probably more than adequate for pretty much any and all phone/tablet charging purposes. Beyond that, so that they may also be used for data transfer, simply make sure that they have enough wires in them, routed to the appropriate pins, to be data transfer cables, as well. Most USB cables used with smartphones and tablets are intended for both data transfer and charging; however, not all of them are capable of handling up to 2.1 amps... so that's usually the only part you have to double-check. However, if you're anally-retentive, like me, you check all aspects of the cable to eliminate all possibility of problems. But, hey... that's just me.

Hope that helps!

I call this a companion piece because you may want to pick it up to charge an Anker Astro E5. The Anker E5 description tells you that to charge the device faster you will need to use a 5V / 1.5A adapter. They do not tell you that it requires a USB charging port. The Anker® 18W / 3.6A Wall Charger is NOT EVEN mentioned as a nice addition to the battery back up. (Strange indeed) After some research, I purchased the wall charger based only on the fact that they are made by the same company and I figure they were designed to go together. The device is sturdy, well made, and heavier than I thought it would be. The main problem is that the MICOSCOPIC lettering on the sides is also very close in color to the housing (silver on white) making it twice as hard to see which USB port is designed for Apple and which is for Android. You may just take a marker and write on the appropriate side. As far as I can tell it only comes in white which does not coordinate with the black unit.

Best Deals for Anker® 18W /3.6A Dual-Port Wall Charger for iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S

The 18W 2-port charger and its performance was superb. I usually carry this charger in my backpack to work because of its portability and size. Love how this charger free up space on my power strip. But if you're a gadget junkie, the 25W Anker 5-port charger is the one for you. So far, I've only tried charging an iPhone 5, iPad (3rd Gen), an iPod Touch, and a bluetooth headset. I left them charging overnight and it was flawless. Charging is much faster with this product compared to charging my iPhone and iPad Mini utilizing Apple's 5W power adapter. Tis perfect for a quick charge! Overall, craftmanship is the best and I recommend this product as a must-have for every home or just stuff one into your backpack/luggage for travel use (it's multi-voltage so you can use it anywhere in the world). I'm buying more to give out as gifts.

Honest reviews on Anker® 18W /3.6A Dual-Port Wall Charger for iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S

Piece of junk. Both ports stopped working after 8 hours of use. Don't waste your time. Very disappointing and frustrating.

I purchased this charger after reviewing many. Seemed like a solid product. Received it yesterday and it worked just fine.... for 2 hours! After that, non-functional! Neither port worked. Tried a different outlet, made sure the outlets were working, etc. Nope. Nothing. So, I hope this is a fluke and not representative of the quality of the product. I am on the fence whether to replace it with the same thing or go another direction.

Update:

I contacted the manufacturer @ the email provided in the product packaging as an after-thought after I had already put the product in the mail to return it to Amazon. I received a phone call the next day with apologies for my defective unit and they sent me a new unit which I received within a day or two. As of this writing, so far, no problems. I was very impressed with their customer service and prompt response, as well as their effort to make it right. I am assuming, as with all things, there are occasionally "lemons" out there. Apparently my first unit fell into this category. Considering their quick response to make things right, I am revising my initial review.

2nd Update:

Well, I received the replacement unit. Worked fine for a day. Then I started getting an error message "charging is not supported with this accessory" on my iphone when it had finished charging. Double checked to make sure I had it plugged in the correct port (yes). Even tried plugging it in to the other port same message. I contacted the company to let them know. They did offer to send me yet another replacement, but I have declined. Will look for something more reliable.
