First off I want to say it feels solid. Unlike the Motorola one I had that had parts rattling in it from day one and lasted 6 months. I have been using it at work with a headset as well. It accepts all headset/speaker combos that use a Kenwood style jack. I have gotten great reception with this radio and my coworkers have all commented on how clear my transmissions are with or without the headset. I can also listen to the FM radio and transmit/receive on a VHF band at the same time. It is compact and the clip is a sturdy stamped metal. It was easy to program and didn't even need the supplied computer software. I had to reset all settings to get the radio to transmit on my works channels but that is done on the unit. Good buy.

For the price the TYT TH-F5 is hard to beat. Anyone that is looking for a good starter HAM radio... this is it. As a first responder backup communication is a must. So when the power goes out and the cell-towers are jammed this can be a life saver. Oh I bought two. His and Hers.

I purchased this radio as my first ham radio after passing the test. I was anxious to use the radio but sat and read the manual.. a few times. But I suddenly realized, no matter how much I read the manual, it still was "Hit and Miss" at best. For example, I wanted to program a local repeater's freq, so I looked in the manual, and on page 19 it says, "The desired frequency can be input directly by the keypad too, please refer to "Keypad Input Directly". Guess what? I couldn't find a page that said "Keypad Input Directly". I'm not going to bore you with other issues with this radio. But suffice it to say, I should have waited until I got my license "then" purchased a radio. If I had, I would have not purchased this one because I would have done more research on User-friendly radios. If one of you are very familiar with programming this radio, by all means send me a message, or share your findings with others. You'll probably save someone many hours of frustration.

UPDATED REVIEW: 06-07-12

After many hours of fumbling around with this HT I finally figured out how to program the CTCSS frequencies. The manual was of no real help in that the writers of this must assume you either 1, already have their products and know how to program it without an AS degree, or 2, you have the patience to sit and treat it like a puzzle. As far as the radio, I'll give it 4 stars for operability. The one person I spoke with did say I was crystal clear. But be warned, be prepared to sit down and take your time in programming it. I would start with page 35 of the manual.

Re: TYT TH F-5 Hand Held Transiever. Upon use of this product, I find it to be well worth the purchase. There was a wrong power supply sent, which the company had fixed right away. My favorite part of this product, was the fact that it actually had excellent audio, which is what was advertised. It also picks up the local repeaters, as well as any fire dept. radio, I've heard, so far. I searched the internet for good quality, at a good price and this product delivered, for the price.

We purchased our cell phone at WalMart, and the contents paper said to contact AT&T for accessories. I did. After 10-15 minutes online with an agent, she came back and said "We don't carry that item. Can I interest you in another cell phone?" No thanks.

My husband told me to contact SamSung which I did. I typed in my info, but nothing. I thought "Well, I'll try Amazon." SHOULD have been my first stop/try. I am so glad to find this charger, AND it works very well.

I like to say that I wish when I bought this charger, I bought another one that I can plug on the wall outlet when I'm in a hotel in the US. However, there is the danger of leaving your cellphone still plug-in on the wall when you're in a hurry on checking-out. I mainly bought this charger, that hopefully will last longer, because when my cellphone run out of charged battery during my car trouble on the road, I have a way of recharging it in the car and calling the tow truck. Maybe, I should buy another cellphone battery as a back-up.

I bought this to replace a 2 year old fm transmitter that was on clearance at Target (which was 3x's cheaper) that connected via headphone jack that worked like wonders. This didn't.

Finding stations wasnt hard, but the transmission quality really is sub-par. When connected with the cigarette jack, it boosts the quality, but not much.

It also throws the whole entire song out of balance. Usually you need to turn on the Bass Reducer because of unwanted high frequencies but it still comes in when the song itself is set that high (basically you cant play anything with bass, i.e. Hip Hop, Pop, etc.

The only good thing that this does is charge your iPod.

I really like the fact that I have power if I ever get in a bind, but I wouldn't use this as an everyday car charger for iphone or any usb device simply because it is too noisy. The fan is pretty loud. However, the power outlet works like a charm and I've been able to charge my laptop perfectly whenever it runs out on the road. Happy with what I got it for. This power inverter was great for the price, less than 25 bucks but bad for noise. If your like me and the noise from the engine on an airplane puts you to sleep, then this inverter is not for you. The inverter's fan is quiet loud, not as loud as a hair dryer but close enough. I would guess-a-mate that its as loud as a laptop fan if you put your ear on it.

I received this charger a few days ago, and really like it. I used to have a no name micro usb charger for my phone, and it was only 500mah, which for non-techies means that it charges very slowly. This charger charges very fast even on the 1A port. It has 2 ports a 1A, and a 2.1A. I recommend the 2.1 A port for ipads and tablets, and to charge your device a little quicker. If you dont need a very quick charge, the 1A port will still charge most phones in an hour and a half from dead to full.

UPDATE 3/22: This charger worked well for a little while but quit charging on me today. Lowering my review to 2 stars.

UPDATE 4/12RAVpower quickly contacted me after posting my update and sent me a new one at no cost. Back up to 4 stars.

There are a lot of car chargers out there, but what makes this one worth buying?

1) There are 2 USB ports

2) Of the two ports, one is 2.1amps, one is 1amp. That means you can charge BOTH an iPad/tablet AND a phone at the same time

3) Mat black finish is applied where cables are unplugged a lot to keep from scratching. (yes this is just a cosmetic feature, but it makes everyone feel better when there electronics don't get scratched!)

4) Replaceable fuse

This car charger simply does what it states. It will charge any device through USB while your 12V plug on your car is on. It provides users with the ability to use GPS pas in their car without completely draining there battery when they get to their destination

What would make this product better?

The only thing I would change is that I would like a switch on the side of each USB port that allowed you to change the power output. The reason is that it would be nice to be able to charge 2 iPads/tablets at once or 2 phones at once. YES you can charge your phone with a 2.1 amp output, but I'm not sure that it's too good for your battery.

Would you buy it for a friend/recommend it?

I bought this mount hoping it would fit my HTC Thunderbolt with the wireless charging cover on it. The cover makes the phone a bit thicker in one spot and subsequently made my official car dock from Verizon/HTC unusable.

This dock fits the phone with the extra thickness perfectly. It almost looks like they accounted for that if you look at the little groove in the picture. I'm not sure, but this dock might even hold the Thunderbolt with the extended battery cover (which makes it ever thicker in the same spot).

The dock was easy to set up and the phone locks securely into place. It's very easy to adjust the position of the phone and unlike a lot of docks it holds it securely without wobble. Only downside is that it doesn't dock it into charging like the Verizon one, but the port is unblocked so you merely have to plug it in.

So hard to find accessories for phones after they're no longer sold... the folks at the Verizon store looked at me like I was crazy for asking for accessories for a phone that was a year old... how dare I expect that my phone wouldn't be obsolete in a year.

I've tried universal mounts for other phones in the past, and have always been unhappy with them... was ecstatic to actually find one designed specifically for the thunderbolt. Thank you Arkon I had been looking for months.

It works EXTREMELY well, and I have the extended battery. It's a very snug fit with the extended battery, but it does fit, and it's ROCK solid. I'm extremely happy with this purchase.

The mount seems VERY well made... several previous mounts of had felt very cheap, and indeed cracked or broke in fairly short order. This one feels solid, and leads me to believe it's going to last a while.

For the price, I felt like this was an incredibly good product for my phone. It held my Thunderbolt perfectly, allowed access to phone buttons and micro USB port, and suction cup never came off the windshield. I accidentally bought two of them, and instead of returning the 2nd one I decided to just keep one in each car since they worked great and were a very reasonable price. I have since upgraded my Thunderbolt to a Galaxy SIII and would very much like to buy another mount for my new phone from Arkon.

This is a very solid car dock for the HTC Thunderbolt. This will fit either the standard or extended battery on the Thunderbolt. Mounts securely to the windshield and hasn't fallen, even in the Texas sun. My wife uses this instead of the OEM car dock because of the extended battery.
