After being assured by Gomatic that this would work for my Razr MAXX, I bought this to use while traveling overseas in various countries. First tried it in London light is on, but phone not charging. Same thing in France. I was really peeved and wrote Gomatic the moment I got home. They immediately contacted me and suggested I double check the connecting cable. I did and found that I hadn't snapped it into place all the way. Duh. Once I did that and plugged in the American end, it worked fine. I'll take it with me to Asia this summer, and I expect it to work perfectly.

This is a great charger, I love that I can plug in two USB's (I use an iPhone 4 and also an iPhone 5 cable) and another device and they all charge! The only thing is make sure you see the lightning bolt on the battery indicator for the iPhone to make sure it's charger, simply the plug means it is plugged in but not charging. I found that you may need to 'warm it up' and drive a little before this works at times. Overall, for the price, very satisfied.

The IC-A6, in my opinion, is a poorly designed unit. I'll use my old Icom unit as a comparison to indicate how the IC-A6 is the opposite of new and improved.

The IC-A6 is my second Icom radio. I purchased my first Icom somewhere in the '90s. I regret that I don't remember the model number, but it was somewhat larger than the IC-A6, gave me 12 years of good service, and was superior in every respect, including the size. How can larger be better? Read on, I'll explain.

As I said, the IC-A6 is smaller than the old unit. This would be a nice feature, but Icom completely negated any size advantage with bad belt hook design. It's a huge alligator-clip device. To hold the radio in your hand with that monstrosity on it is awkward. The older and larger unit was much more comfortable to operate despite its larger size.

The next un-improvement I'll discuss is the battery. On the old unit, the port for the trickle charger is on the battery. So I could charge a spare battery while I ran the radio on a primary battery. On the IC-A6, the charging port is on the radio itself. I can still carry a spare battery, but I can't charge it unless it's actually installed in the radio. I think this is just plain stupid design.

Here's another un-improvement related to the battery: The old unit had a red light to indicate the battery was taking a charge. There is no such indication on the IC-A6 to indicate that charging is taking place. I have plugged the charger into the IC-A6 and left it overnight only to discover it was plugged into a dead outlet.

And, speaking of battery charge, when operating the radio there's no battery gauge other than an indication on the display that shows only when the battery is about to expire. Nothing to give any indication of how much operating time you might have left on the current battery. And if you do switch to a fresh battery, you lose the belt clip. The clip is held with two screws to the battery rather than to the radio case.

The next un-improvement--adding a lanyard: My old Icom radio had a lug on each side that would fit small metal key rings that made it easy to attach a lanyard. I usually used a camera strap or banjo strap, the kind with the clip on each end. Worked great for carrying the thing around your neck so there was no risk of dropping it out of a hot-air balloon or losing it on the floor of a cockpit. But the IC-A6 has only a tiny little hole on one corner that doesn't fit any kind of metal ring that I can find. It only accepts the flimsy little carrying strap provided with the unit, or a thin piece of string slipped thru this awkward tiny hole, which can then be tied to an appropriate lanyard.

So. . . after all that, how does my IC-A6 perform? In a word, inadequately. Reception is broken up far more than other radios when several hand-held radios are in proximity and receiving the same transmission. I do not know if this is only my unit or if all IC-A6s behave the same way. Another complaint is that when I have spent an afternoon programing the unicom and tower frequencies of several airports into the IC-A6 memory using the airport identifiers for the display, the radio loses the information within 24 hours. Time wasted programing, and time wasted looking up and setting frequencies while flying.

I would not recommend buying this, or the IC-A24 radio, which uses the same case. I have no opinions of other current Icom models, as I have no experience with them, but from first hand experience, I consider the IC-A6 to be a piece of junk.

Pros: The frequency lock stays locked when the radio is turned off.

Cons: Clumsy to hold, can't charge battery if it's out of the radio, no charging progress indicator, can possibly damage battery from overcharging. Difficult to add a lanyard, unreliable performance.

I did a reception comparison some time back, and the A6 came out way ahead of the other scanners. Although the A6 is technically not a scanner, I am currently using it as a scanner. However, as the other commenter pointed out, the keyboard is somewhat cryptic and not so obvious how to use it. I didn't find the manual all that bad, but I can see how it can be difficult to follow. For product quality I would give this a 5 star, but for user friendliness may be 3 stars. My comparison of the scanners is here:

It's a great radio. I use it as my only comm in a Champ with no electrical system along with a FlightTech ITC-401TC intercom. An LED or other indicator showing that the battery is really charging/charged when plugged into the wall charger would be a nice addition. Also, the manual is poorly written, especially the programming instructions. This radio has a reputation as being hard (impossible!) to program, which I shared until I found a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to do it. Once you understand the logic and key sequences, it's not that hard. Sarasota Avionics was a little slow getting the radio shipped, but it still arrived on time.

I was caught between the A6 and the Yeasu 310 and went with the A6 for two reasons. My instructor had an older (and better btw) ICOM and swore by it. I also chose the A6 as it has more accessories available. Now that I have tested it for a day I can say I am not impressed. For the money this is not worth it. I will back everyone else up with the two worst elements; no battery indicator for charging or anything else other than almost dead and a horrible manual. It uses a NiCad battery so it really does need a battery indicator ICOM. Also, the manual is useless. Just toss it out when you get the radio. Frustrating but I am considering returning this and giving the Yeasu a shot. Not cool ICOM! Way to aim low!

This radio has been a staple around our airport for some time now. We use them for airport operations, snowplow communications and lawn mowing equipment. In fact, the control tower people jokingly refer to it as their "number 2 com" (a monitor radio controllers can use while going "number 2"). It is a solid unit with a nice, big easy-to-read display. Reliability has been very good; I don't think I've ever sent one out for repair. When it wears out, you can use it as a wheel chock, but that won't happen anytime soon. Battery life is reasonable (not as long-lived as the Vertex but decent). Drop-in charger is a nice option to purchase. Be careful not to over-charge the nickel-metal batteries or they will not last. I would like to see a better battery meter on this unit but that's about my only complaint. Well... that and I wish it had a hi/lo power switch like some of its predecessors had. It's a lower cost alternative to permanently mounted equipment, especially if you are leasing, but an outside antenna on a vehicle ia a must-have accessory. This unit also has the headset adapter as a standard accessory (a $60 option which little brother A14 doesn't come with). Buy an A24 if you're going to use it airborne if VOR reception is important to you but the A6 fits the bill for me.

I used these batteries for the first time during wedding shoot this past weekend and was very impressed with the results. Using a Nikon SB900 flash, I took approximately 400 flash photos in varying conditions with the first set of four then changed to a fresh set and proceeded to take another 500+ flash pictures. The only reason I changed battery sets was because the opportunity presented itself. I think the first set would have easily lasted another several hundred flash cycles. I'm guessing the speedlight was putting out at 1/16 to 1/4 power most of the time as I was shooting with the flash in TTL mode at ISO 400 and f/5.6 indoors with ambient light coming mostly from window on a partly sunny day. Recycle time was excellent as expected at these lower flash output levels.

I have been using these Powerex batteries for exactly one year now. I'm a Geocacher and a very active one at that, and my GPSr's tend to be rather needy in the power department so my partner gave me a set of these last year and gave them a go. Immediately I was impressed at the fact that I was getting at least a 25% improvement over both the Duracel and Eveready reghargeable batteries I had been using. Now a full year later, I am still using the same set of 8 that I started with and quite honestly, I don't see myself ever changing to another brand if the quality remains the same with my next batch. These batteries still last me a good day and a half of heavy use on my Garmin 62S and about a full day in a Garmin Oregon with the backlight in use.

I'm sold.

This transmitter works better than the last one I bought for a lot more money (and has lasted longer too!). The range is short, but good enough to transmit from my pocket without a cord. The charger isn't great, but enough to keep it juiced up on a long trip. Incredibly enough, I took a shot on this thing for only a few dollars. Turned out to be one of the best iPhone accessories I've ever purchased. We live in Germany and our American spec car doesn't receive European frequencies all that well. With this thing, we're able to listen to podcasts on the move and it's AWESOME! Saw the reviews here many are just plain incorrect, very likely they did not bother to read the manual, which as the quickstart guide says 'the full version is online at jabra'.

A few examples:

Voice dialing: If your phone has this capability you can voice dial no problem: Record the voiceprint for a number (via your phones feature), preferably while using the speakerphone so its better matched, then to use it 'press' hold button for approx 1sec (as opposed to tap, which is means 'quick click") the main answer button then say name works fine, even with an old moto razr phone.

Power: Again, RTM to save power (a great feature), the speakerphone sleeps after 10 minutes: To wake up, rather than cycle the less handy power switch, simply tap the main answer button

Bright lights: There is a way to go into night mode: "Press FM and volume up button simultaneously when the speakerphone is on. The light will then turn off. You can turn the lights back on with another press."

C'mon folks, take the two minutes to read the actual manual.

As for the rest I've only had it a little while the voice quality seems fine, the FM works great when the convertible top is down (Not often right now, even in CA) and the thing works quite well so far.

Bonus: The charger comes in two pieces so that you can use the USB to micro USB cable with your computer to charge it if you want. Conversely, I can now charge my old razr with by plugging in my USB to mini USB into its lighter adapter. Handy.

I love Bluetooth but was never really satisfied with the audio quality of my Bluetooth headset when driving so I thought I would try buying a device that was specifically designed to let you take calls in a vehicle. This is a really cool product! It does all the basic stuff you would expect in terms of taking phone calls but has the added feature of an FM transmitter so you can use your car speakers instead of the smaller built-in speaker. Now incoming call volume level is never an issue. If your car radio has RDS (I forget what it stands for but if you see artist and song title when listening to a radio station then you have it) you can see the incoming phone number on your radio display. Cooler still is that it supports Bluetooth stereo so I can stream music directly from my phone (or iPod Touch) and listen to it on my car speakers. The Cruiser has convenient PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP Forward/Back buttons too. If you are streaming music and you get an incoming call, the music is automatically paused until you hang up. Last but not least, the Cruiser can be connected to two phones AT THE SAME TIME. This is very convenient since I have to carry around my work phone and personal phone all the time. No longer do I need to decide which of my phones to have connected. Nice work Jabra!

I've had the Cruiser for less than a week. So far, it's been an excellent experience. I use it paired with an iphone for telephone conversation as well as for listening to music & podcasts in the car. I have it clipped to my visor directly in front of me.

Voice guided pairing was a snap. I like the voice announcements in general, telling you what mode it is in, etc.

Very good sound quality and noise rejection, even in a small sports car. It's not perfect, but works at least as well as any BT headset that I've owned. The people I call never complain about my voice quality, and I'd give it about an 8/10 for incoming call sound quality.

FM transmitter works very well ... as well or better than the dedicated "beamers" I've had. I use it mostly in this mode, listening to calls & music through the car stereo speakers. Music sounds good. It's easy to tune FM frequencies to a blank spot, although you really can't do it while driving.

I have an iPhone, an amazing miniature, hand-held computer and basically a pretty bad phone. Probably half the blame on the iPhone belongs to AT&T and their spotty service, but that's another story. When hand-held, the iPhone works moderately well, however, the speakerphone aspect of it sucks big-time. Horrible!

I was tired of wearing a bluetooth device in my ear when driving, fearing I'd loose it, requiring a charge every three days, and concerned over unknown long-term medical side-effects from such a device.

When looking at various bluetooth ear devices at the local Apple store, one of the employees suggested I check this Jabra Cruiser device out. He said they carried it at the Apple store for about two months, then they just stopped carrying it. He told me the general feedback he got from Apple customers regarding the device was terrific great sound quality, clarity, even the ability to broadcast via your FM capacity in your auto the incoming calls as well as music from your phone device.

While you give up the portability of a bluetooth headset with this visor clip-on speakerphone, the ease of use and function I believe vastly outweighs the issue of portability. The clarity is completely there, I've been using mine for three weeks on a daily basis and have had yet to re-charge it. It's broadcast distance is perhaps a problem in that you can walk away from your vehicle, enter a store and be 100 feet away and yet it holds the connection with your phone. I have discovered that when I pull into my garage at home, I need to turn off the unit, otherwise it will seize the calls when I'm at home unless I disable the bluetooth function on my iPhone. It's now become a habit when I enter my car in the morning to turn on the Cruiser, and within seconds I hear the synthetic voice say "connected". When I arrive home, I now automatically turn it off when entering the garage, and it says, "powered off".

I am completely satisfied with this product it's a whole lot cheaper than purchasing a new vehicle with bluetooth built in...

I have used the older Jabra SP700 and returned it, and replaced it with the Jabra Cruiser and its much better, even in my old noisy car people can hear me well, I was very surprised! In my newer car, it does not fit on the thicker visor. I use it with a Blackberry 9800 and very happy with the whole product overall. I do use FM to play music from my blackberry and I like the way the music control keys operate the media player on the blackberry. With any FM product, the sound is not as clear with a cable, but the Cruiser is decent and I have no other choice since I have no other inputs to the radio. The bluetooth signal is very strong, too strong, I park outside of store and when I'm inside It will pickup, but there is an on off switch on it if you know your going to be too close to the car , switch it off. Instead of beeps when connected, you get a woman's voice, she is there with you there to help out, set your fm, tells you the number of the incoming call, and other instructions.

I am surprised how more advanced the Cruiser is over the SP700, and this is worth taking a look at. I did get it for $49 at costco ($20 off sale) and I am very happy with it so far.

Did test them in UPS giving them enough time to charge up (overnight) & by unplugging the UPS to simulate power loss & with stop watch tested duration of power to computer & LCD monitor. UPDATED after 1 year...

Bought this to replace the OEM battery in my APC Back-UPS ES 350. Of course it's cheaper, so I was concerned about quality. After a year, however, it is still doing its job just fine. That's great, because the OEM batteries invariably seem to die after a year or so. (I work in an office building with horrible power: lights flicker when somebody in the next office fires up his laser printer, constant brownouts and even total outages every few months in spite of fancy backup generators, you get the idea.) I would definitely buy again.

The Etón BoostBloc 4000 comes packaged in a clear presentation box that's easy to open, and (luckily for us) not one of those clamshell packages. The included instructions are easy to follow. Mine arrived about ¾ charged, so I plugged it in to top it up. If it's fully drained the suggested charge time is five hours. The four blue LEDs will indicate the battery level, from 1 LED < 25% to 4 LEDs > 75%. To check the charge level, you just give it a quick shake. This seemed strange at first, but one gets used to it quickly, and there are no buttons to bump.

However... you may wish to check the power requirements of the smartphone or other device that you may want to charge. For example, my Samsung Galaxy S III (check the specs) comes with a 2100mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, and if you quickly do the math, you'll quickly see that the 4000mAh rating of the BoostBloc 4000 is just under what it would take to give two full charges. In actual use I found that it gave about 1½ charges when the phone was left on, but slightly over 1¾ charges when the phone was turned off.

There are two other variations of this device: the Etón BoostBloc 2000, which is rated at 2000mAh, and the Etón BoostBloc 6600, which is rated at 6600mAH. Simply put, do the math before you make your choice, and you should be able to pick the right one for your needs.

In practical use, I found this Etón BoostBloc 4000 to be quite good for my needs when charging the Galaxy S III, as I was already aware of its mAh (milliamp hour) rating, so it lived up to my expectations. Also found that it had no problem putting a full charge on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9", even when I ran it down to about a 5% charge remaining. On a more practical side for emergency purposes, I plugged in my Goal Zero Luna USB LED Stick Light, a product of which I have a few, and it ran for days... I lost track as it was still providing light four days later.

◆ Summary:

The Etón BoostBloc 4000 has proven to be a solid performer that does what is expected. It's good enough that I'm considering adding the Etón BoostBloc 6600 to my arsenal of emergency supplies, as the higher-powered version also has two standard USB ports that can charge two devices simultaneously. Just be sure to first check your power requirements from the documentation of your smartphone or device so that you won't be disappointed. Simply put, this one is a real 5-star product, and one that's highly recommended.

I own a couple of different battery packs as I have a smartphone that loves to each it's charge up when I'm hiking/biking and away from an outlet. I own a couple other Eton products and decided I would try this block from them. I'm glad I did. I can throw this in my pack when out and about and keep my phone charged wherever I go. It's been very reliable and holds it's charge well when not using it for long periods of time. I've also charged my phone up to three times from 25% to 100% on a single charge. It's also one of the few external chargers like this that will charge my Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Very helpful if I'm out camping and I want to watch a movie that I've downloaded to the Kindle. I've had this for almost a year now and it stays in my backpack ready when I need it. I lost my first one somewhere and couldn't live without it so I bought a second one almost immediately. Worth the investment for me and has paid for itself several times by providing power in situations where I needed it.

I love my little BoostBloc, it's small enough to carry around in my bag everywhere I go. I can usually get a few charges out of it. Though I usually don't charge my phone all the way back up, just enough of a boost to get me through the rest of a long day. The bloc itself charges FAST, I plug it in and 30 minutes later all the little charge level lights are on indicating a full charge.

I will note that I do not think they are worth paying the full price for. Shop around, I got mine for MUCH cheaper than amazon lists them at.

Fabulous charger! It actually works as advertised. This is great for emergency preparedness you never know when the lights will go out! I also like it for camping and other activities where power isn't readily available. It's very compact and easy to use. And who can resist red?!?

I really liked the convenience and neatness of the retractable cable which worked well and never jammed up. However, the charger base got very hot after prolonged use and began to smell like burnt plastic (which scared me a little). Also, when charging my phone (Droid Eris) with this device, my phone's audio output jack emitted a hissing noise. I almost couldn't listen to audio from my phone while charging it with this charger.

They make it way to much trouble to return the thing for what the product costs.

The package even said Motorola v3 and they said it should still work from what they have been told.

Charger was delivered in mid February, and worked fresh out of the box. However, within 40 days, this charger no longer was capable of "charging" the HTC Eris. Bottom line, it did not work properly for a reasonable amount of time.
