I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag.

I've had several other portable air compressors in the past but they were always in the $20, and below price range, which in essence turned out to be "junk. This is the first time I've purchased a Viair Air Compressor. I was hesitant in spending nearly $50 for for one, but once I received it I was very impressed with its quality and efficiency. I like the fact that the air hose fitting is brass and the end screws onto the air valves of tires. Unlike the toggle type of hose fittings on the cheaper models (which leak a substantial amount of air when you attach or detach them to the air valve and are cumbersome to use), the screw on brass fitting of the Viair loses a negligent amount of air during this operation. The pump is relatively quite for a portable, and it doesn't bounce around nearly as much as the cheaper models tend do. The air gage is very accurate (readings should be taken with the air hose attached and the compressor off ). My bicycle tires were about 15 lbs low and it only took the compressor 10 seconds to air them up. My car tires were about 3 lbs low and it took less than a minute to fill them. I also like the fact that the accessories for airing up air mattresses, basketballs and the like, are cradled on the compressor. All to often I forget where I put these items when I need them if not attached to the compressor. Compared to other air compressors within the same price range, I think this is by far, a cut above the rest.

Item arrived quickly. The compressor is very compact and feels well built and heavy.

I verified before purchase that it draws 14.5 amps, 12v. My power sources on a 05 landcruiser are 15 amp 12v. I tested it this weekend. Started the vehicle, used the rear cargo Aux socket to fill the two rear tires, it has plenty of power and inflated quickly. I moved it to the front cabin Aux socket on dash, and it blew the 15 amp fuse. Then I used the 15 amp cig lighter socket, and it blew that too.

Its not much use if it blows the fuse when you need it most.

I'm going to look into a direct battery power adapter plug.

After reading all of the reviews, I still was not convinced that I could trust this product, so I called the company, VIAIR directly with questions. First, I got right through to their technical department, and was given very clear answers to my questions. My main question was about blowing any fuses, as some reviewers had complained about, and the technician assured me that would not happen, as long as I had the engine running BEFORE I plugged in and turned on the compressor. After I spoke to the technician I decided to go ahead and purchase the VIAIR 85P compressor. When it arrived the directions on the box were very clear about turning on your engine before operating the compressor. The compressor is extremely easy to use. The brass screw on tire chuck for the tire stem is so much more convenient and easier to use than the machines at local gas stations, because you just screw it on and you do not have to hold it in place. It filled up my tire to the correct pressure in less than a minute, and the tire gauge makes it impossible for you to make any errors in judgement as to how much or how little to fill your tire, as long as you know what the PSI is for your tires. I am thrilled that I purchased this product. It is everything that the company advertises it to be and more. Also, as one previous reviewer suggested, keep the box, it is very convenient to store the compressor in, and has a convenient plastic carry handle.

This is a solid, well make unit. I've had 3 portable air compressors for personal automobile use over the last several years. This one is generally the best that I've owned. It is small, quiet, compact and doesn't bounce around. On my unit, the PSI gauge is relatively accurate which I crossed checked with a high quality dial type tire pressure gauge. I take my car to high performance driving events and for those of you that travel light to track events (no trailer), this is great pump to pack rat with the rest of your gear. It stands up to heavy use WHEN USED FOR CAR TIRES. The bronze twist on tire chuck is thick, solid and better made than those on other portable units. This is important if you are adjusting pressures on all four tires a few times a day over the course of a two/three day weekend track event. For a small portable pump, it's FAST. The pump works well for general, casual home use as well. But, with a PSI rating of 60, it is not made for bicycle tires. Small bicycle tires inflate extremely quickly with this unit. You have to watch the gauge very carefully and it is all to easy to exceed the pressure rating for the unit faster than you expect. This is where the design of the unit is flawed. When pressures exceed 60 PSI the fuse for the cigarette lighter in your car (20amp for my car) will blow before the fuse in the pump's power port plug will blow. It should be the other way around in my opinion. I think the people that complain of repeatedly blowing fuses in their car are likely using the 85P beyond the maximum 60PSI rating on the unit. The VIAIR 90P has a higher 100 PSI rating. I've never seen the 90P, but the push on attachment chuck is probably inferior for frequent use. I've had pumps with the push on type chucks, and inside of this type of chuck will wear down with repeated use. IN SUMMARY THE VIAIR 85P IS A FAST PUMPING, SOLID, DURABLE, WELL MADE PUMP WITH A MINOR DESIGN FLAW (FUSE ISSUE). DESPITE THE FUSE ISSUE, IT IS A GREAT CHOICE AS A PORTABLE TIRE PUMP TO KEEP IN THE CAR. DON'T USE IT TO INFLATE BICYCLE TIRES OR USE IT NEAR IT'S MAXIMUM 60PSI RATING.

I really didn't start out to buy another battery charger. I have one from the local electronics store, but I've not been thoroughly satisfied with it. For one thing, it has a little red button that, when pushed, supposedly discharges the batteries so that the new charge can be maximized and battery "memory" will not develop. However, the instructions fail to say how long the button should be depressed, nor is there any indication on the charger that the discharge is complete--or even happening. Likewise, the charger gives no indication when the batteries have been fully recharged and are ready for removal. That just leaves too much to chance for my peace of mind. Also, I have to remember to tell the charger what kind of batteries it's dealing with, NiMH or NiCd.

The Juice Multi-Battery Charger, however, is smart. It knows automatically what type of batteries are being recharged, it doesn't ask me to press little red buttons to discharge them first, and it shows me (with a different LED for each battery) when the recharge is complete. It willingly accepts rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, up to four of either type simultaneously.

Beyond its performance, this recharger even looks neat! Its clear, blue plastic battery cover on a silver base and its four green LEDs, which flash while recharging is in progress and burn steadily when it's complete, make it too attractive to hide away in a cabinet. Its appearance is as superb as its performance. The sole drawback is that 9-Volt, "transistor-type" batteries are not accommodated, only AA and AAA. For that lack only do I give the device four Amazon stars instead of five. For the sizes of batteries that it does accept, I doubt that a better charger is available anywhere.

We received the charger without any written instructions or documentation. I am one who likes to read up on the material. Although I believe we can figure out how to make it work without any documentation, I would prefer a sheet that explains what the lights mean, any special handling instructions, etc. Also, in a seperate shipment we ordered the batteries for this charger -all of our AAA size were leaking when we recieved them, and 25% of the AA batteries would not take on a charge. We are in the process of returning these to see if the replacement product is any better.

I only had this charger for a week. It recharged my Juice brand batteries(2 AA alkaline) and my (AAA alkaline) non-Juice battery. I like that it'll show red light if the rechargeable battery(Alkaline or NiMH) is at the end of its cycle. Telling you that you're going to need new batteries.

Now that it has been over a year, I wish it had a discharge feature. I have 4 NiCd batteries that I bought years ago in error(needed the alkaline types). With those, it's recommended to fully drain before charging.

The NiMh batteries that came with the charger is crap. I use these batteries and the NiCd batteries with the Wii Remotes. The Juice NiMh batteries will go from 2 bars on the Wii Remote to no bars, skipping 1 bar status. My NiCd batteries at 1 bar would outlast the Juice NiMh at 2 bars.

The Juice NiMh is the only NiMh battery type I have. So, I don't know if all NiMh batteries are that way. I doubt it. I can't believe that the batteries would drain so quickly. Just the other day, my recent charge of the Juice NiMh, it didn't last a week. I couldn't play two player.

If I could change the rating, it would be a four. For not having a discharge feature. But it's still a good charger.

The shipment of the item came in no time, amazon rocks! But the only thing is, it isn't compatible with my 3G IPhone! Perhaps because it is an unlocked one. When I plug it in to charge it begins to charge and makes that noise and then starts twitching as if someone is unplugging and plugging in the phone. Weird. I find the Revolve xeMini to be very handy. I have a non-Apple phone and an iPod, and now I don't have to take two separate chargers around with me when I travel. The fact that it doubles as an emergency backup battery makes this infinitely more convenient than just bringing a charger along... Just keeping this thing charged and with me means my devices won't ever die at inconvenient times. The solar charging feature is a little added peace of mind for situations when plugging in isn't an option, or I just want to be a little "greener." I've seen some of the other reviews bashing the solar side of this, but I think they may have missed the point--solar charging is not the primary function, it is simply an added perk to be used along with wall charging as a little green boost. Considering the amount of energy it takes to charge a smartphone these days, you can't really expect a little solar panel to be the only source of power here.

The construction seems very solid to me... The review that said it warped in the car at 85 degrees probably didn't take into account the fact that the interior of a car heats up to a much higher temperature than the outside, meaning the temperature in the car was likely well above 100 degrees (the instruction manual specifies to avoid temperatures above 104).

I love the look of the unit, and appreciate that the packaging is made from recycled/recyclable materials (plus the company donates a portion of its profits to green causes every year). It's nice to see a company that actually seems to care about being as environmentally responsible as possible.

Okay, so I splurged and got this $70 solar/AC/USB charger. I thought it was a very good "concept" product, and it looked really solid. That is where this fantasy ends...

First of all, it's made in China. For $70, at least make the damn thing in USA.

The bamboo and plastic composite is a nice "green" "idea". Notice I say "idea" cause this plastic is BRITTLE. Meaning, I would hate to find out what would happen if I dropped it. When I opened the battery cover, the latch sheared off into the unit. Now I have a battery door that doesn't latch.

The solar charger is more of a nice emergency "gimmicK" than anything.

The 2200mah charged my 1400mah battery from 20% to full, and that was about it. FAIL!

The ONLY thing this has going for it, is that everything is compact and is one complete unit. As in, A/C charger, battery is all in one unit. The other solar chargers have to have an external AC charger.

I admit I got pretty excited reading the very positive reviews on this product. I even went to their web site and read the instruction manual for this product. Every thing seemed really high quality with the web site, instructions and their "philosophy" on this product and their company. When I received the product I was impressed with the minimal packaging and the overall quality feel of the device. I was really excited.

I first charged the device via AC then proceeded to use it to charge up my iPhone 4. I would say it charged from empty to 100% and then ran out of juice. ...This is when the trouble began. I decided to try out the solar panel charger and left the device on my car dash for about one hour one sunny morning. The outside temperature was probably 80-85 F. When I came back after an hour, I was horrified to find that the case had warped pretty severely and the device was extremely hot (I think the battery inside was generating some heat). The top and bottom pieces are separating from the case and warped up and the front is slightly warped towards the solar panels....worst of all, NO charge on the battery. I then took it to work and left it for days near a window of my climate controlled office...no charging at all......I wish I could return this but I threw the box away so its a $70 lessons learned for me.

For something that is "designed" to be charged in the sun, they should have made the product more resilient to sunlight heat.

Buyer beware.

LOOOOVE IT!!! I looked at all the portable chargers out there and finally decided to get the Revolve xeMini, mostly because of the battery power which is a 2200mah and the small compact pocket size... I couldn't find this on any other charger... Also the actual unit has a plug on the back that flips out and can be plugged directly into the wall without having another messy cable to deal with! Charged it up over nite and was able to charge my iPhone 4 two full times from 0% to 100% and it still had a little juice left (It literally charged my phone super fast as if it was plugged into the wall)... The solar panel takes a little bit longer to charge but Im going camping this weekend and it will be indispensable since I cant charge the phone in the car unless the keys are in it and the engine is on... I'm getting a second one to put in my Emergency Kit... Highly Recommended!

So, I used this on a 4 day bike trip I just did and was not happy with its performance. I charged it up prior to starting the ride on the first day. I had it attached to my phone as I was running the gps for guidance and it worked rather well more than doubling my phones battery capacity. The next 3 days, two of which were bright sun light, I had it exposed for over 10 hours (where the status light stated it was charging) and it never stored enough energy to charge my phone at all. Needless to say, it didn't do what I needed it to. This unit is good for battery back up when charged with any other source but sunlight.

I've had this for 5 months now and bought it for a discount on clearance at my local staples. It has saved me so many times and I've been able to help family and friends who were over and didn't have their charger with them. It works in the car, using a regular electrical outlet, Your laptop in case your stuck somewhere whithout electricity, and in an extreme case has an attachment for a 9v battery that you can drain into your phone using this device. I can't imagine a better device for charging your iphone or other portable device. I have 9v batteries in my emergency kit so I know in the event of Armaggedon I will at least be able to play games on my phone to distract me thanks to this awesome charger :).

I had my doubts as to whether a bluetooth passenger to rider headset would work, this one does and does very well. I have ridden many many years with shouting as the only communication method, and it worked well. But in this eara where not only helmets but full face hemets are common and in some cases required the 'old school' shouting method was in need of a review and update.

I bought the Cardo unit a bit on impulse but as soon as I charged up the units and installed the mics and earphones we took it out for a test ride. It worked great.

I can't comment on the cell phone functionality, I'm not yet ready to think about using a cell phone on a motorcycle, I only rarely use it in car. And I have not used the iPod with it yet so I'll add that later. I can say that as an intercom from rider to passenger it works just like being on the phone, it's clear and even at 75mph on the freeway on a Harley with a nice exhaust drone it was very easy for us to hear each other.

If you are in the market for a unit like this I would recommend giving this one a try. Be foreward however it will change the dymanics of your ride :-)

At full volume these are very low. I installed these on my helmet and my wifes and inside our HOUSE the volume was low. I hooked up a CORDED mp3 player and IT was low. We've not had them on the road yet, but, if the performance I get on the road is anything like I get inside my house, well, I just wasted $200 dollars.

The only thing I had to do was bend the terminals up just a bit more for the connectors to fit and transfer the clear tab from the positive terminal of my old battery to the new one, not a problem at all just a note for others. The clear plastic tab is held on by 2-faced tape and probably is just an extra safety device from APC. I've seen many other `unknown' name replacement batteries but didn't want to gamble the safety of my computers and other electronics for the sake of a few dollars. This battery is the one you need as a -directreplacement for any APC unit's requiring a replacement battery with a part number of either `RBC3' or `Battery Cartridge #3. This is the -SAMEmanufactured battery you will get from the backup unit manufacturer except you will get it on Amazon.com for less than half the manufacturers price delivered.

I made sure my order screen said `Ships from and sold by Amazon.com' and even with the free shipping option, I had no problem receiving the correct battery.

A point of interest: These batteries are pretty much automotive batteries and are suppose to last 3-6 years under typical situations. How my original one lasted 12 years is anyone's guess but I do *NOT* recommend you try to get that much time from one. Mine was so badly expanded it was difficult to remove from the unit for replacement. Also, I have viewed a few photos of ones that expanded to the point of rupture beyond that recommended time frame. Get your battery replacement from Amazon.com and you'll save enough over buying from the manufacturer that you'll be able to replace them on time. Enjoy!

As far as recycling the old battery, you should be able to do so for free. I searched for `battery recycling' and found that most of the auto-parts stores in and around my town take these at no cost for proper recycling. Please, do the right thing.

I used this in my Verizon FiOS battery backup system. Fit properly and after an easy five minute install, it's up and running again. Unplugged the FiOS unit to test it and it seems to work fine.

Definitely recommended when you get that "Replace Battery" light on your FiOS battery backup unit.

the product is good as it is a direct replacement for the dead battery but the way it was packed in a box, with only a piece of buble wrap that only covered half of it, was terrible. you could tell the battery was bouncing around during transportation and ther terminals became flattened. but it appears to be fine since it is working lucky! whoever packed it did a lousy job!
