Have used this set in both Monaco & most recently, Ireland, I've awarded it a star for each device the converter actually supported: a basic hair dryer & surprisingly, a clothes steamer. However, forget trying to use it with any kind of powerful flat iron, such as a CHI. I also tried to run a white noise machine off it, for sleeping through my husband's snoring. After a couple hours, it overheated & quit.

If you leave the US only occasionally & don't care about having raccoon eyes & Mrs. Frankenstein's 'do', this set is nifty. However, if you travel frequently, & wish to appear human, we've learned the hard way that you can't do things on the cheap. I suggest investing in 240v appliances, available online, & a set of universal adapters for use in different regions. Trust me, a single trip to the hairdressers for a formal business function in Monaco was just as expensive as buying a decent 240v flat iron I can use over & over!

Pros. Comes with a nice selection for foreign outlet plug adapters. Large 2000 watt capacity. Automatic selection of "hi" or "Low" wattages. "Resetable" circuit breaker (vice fuse) protection for accidental overloads.

Cons. The on-line description of what the unit will (and will not do) is incomplete, if not misleading. My efforts to obtain an owner's manual from the manufacturer's web site (prior to my purchase) were fruitless. The owner's manual (that came with the unit) stipulates that the unit is not to be used with two very common electric travel items, namely, hair dryers, manufactured in 1992 or more recently due to their electronic safety circuitry and electronic devices of more than 50 watts such as computers, hair curlers, flat irons (hair straighteners), etc.

What happened to the 2000 watt capacity??

Had I been aware of these limitations, I would not have bought this unit for my particular purpose.

It supposed to work with both low and high watts, it worked fine in low mode. But when I tried it with hair dryer, the red light started to switch between the low and the high mode very fast then it burnt down. By the way the hair dryer was only 700 watts

Used this product in Thailand a few weeks ago, plugged product into outlet, then plugged only a power strip into this product (nothing else was plugged into power outlet). The power strip went bad. Some smoke came out of the power strip and it made a loud pop noise.

I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag.

I've had several other portable air compressors in the past but they were always in the $20, and below price range, which in essence turned out to be "junk. This is the first time I've purchased a Viair Air Compressor. I was hesitant in spending nearly $50 for for one, but once I received it I was very impressed with its quality and efficiency. I like the fact that the air hose fitting is brass and the end screws onto the air valves of tires. Unlike the toggle type of hose fittings on the cheaper models (which leak a substantial amount of air when you attach or detach them to the air valve and are cumbersome to use), the screw on brass fitting of the Viair loses a negligent amount of air during this operation. The pump is relatively quite for a portable, and it doesn't bounce around nearly as much as the cheaper models tend do. The air gage is very accurate (readings should be taken with the air hose attached and the compressor off ). My bicycle tires were about 15 lbs low and it only took the compressor 10 seconds to air them up. My car tires were about 3 lbs low and it took less than a minute to fill them. I also like the fact that the accessories for airing up air mattresses, basketballs and the like, are cradled on the compressor. All to often I forget where I put these items when I need them if not attached to the compressor. Compared to other air compressors within the same price range, I think this is by far, a cut above the rest.

Item arrived quickly. The compressor is very compact and feels well built and heavy.

I verified before purchase that it draws 14.5 amps, 12v. My power sources on a 05 landcruiser are 15 amp 12v. I tested it this weekend. Started the vehicle, used the rear cargo Aux socket to fill the two rear tires, it has plenty of power and inflated quickly. I moved it to the front cabin Aux socket on dash, and it blew the 15 amp fuse. Then I used the 15 amp cig lighter socket, and it blew that too.

Its not much use if it blows the fuse when you need it most.

I'm going to look into a direct battery power adapter plug.

After reading all of the reviews, I still was not convinced that I could trust this product, so I called the company, VIAIR directly with questions. First, I got right through to their technical department, and was given very clear answers to my questions. My main question was about blowing any fuses, as some reviewers had complained about, and the technician assured me that would not happen, as long as I had the engine running BEFORE I plugged in and turned on the compressor. After I spoke to the technician I decided to go ahead and purchase the VIAIR 85P compressor. When it arrived the directions on the box were very clear about turning on your engine before operating the compressor. The compressor is extremely easy to use. The brass screw on tire chuck for the tire stem is so much more convenient and easier to use than the machines at local gas stations, because you just screw it on and you do not have to hold it in place. It filled up my tire to the correct pressure in less than a minute, and the tire gauge makes it impossible for you to make any errors in judgement as to how much or how little to fill your tire, as long as you know what the PSI is for your tires. I am thrilled that I purchased this product. It is everything that the company advertises it to be and more. Also, as one previous reviewer suggested, keep the box, it is very convenient to store the compressor in, and has a convenient plastic carry handle.

This is a solid, well make unit. I've had 3 portable air compressors for personal automobile use over the last several years. This one is generally the best that I've owned. It is small, quiet, compact and doesn't bounce around. On my unit, the PSI gauge is relatively accurate which I crossed checked with a high quality dial type tire pressure gauge. I take my car to high performance driving events and for those of you that travel light to track events (no trailer), this is great pump to pack rat with the rest of your gear. It stands up to heavy use WHEN USED FOR CAR TIRES. The bronze twist on tire chuck is thick, solid and better made than those on other portable units. This is important if you are adjusting pressures on all four tires a few times a day over the course of a two/three day weekend track event. For a small portable pump, it's FAST. The pump works well for general, casual home use as well. But, with a PSI rating of 60, it is not made for bicycle tires. Small bicycle tires inflate extremely quickly with this unit. You have to watch the gauge very carefully and it is all to easy to exceed the pressure rating for the unit faster than you expect. This is where the design of the unit is flawed. When pressures exceed 60 PSI the fuse for the cigarette lighter in your car (20amp for my car) will blow before the fuse in the pump's power port plug will blow. It should be the other way around in my opinion. I think the people that complain of repeatedly blowing fuses in their car are likely using the 85P beyond the maximum 60PSI rating on the unit. The VIAIR 90P has a higher 100 PSI rating. I've never seen the 90P, but the push on attachment chuck is probably inferior for frequent use. I've had pumps with the push on type chucks, and inside of this type of chuck will wear down with repeated use. IN SUMMARY THE VIAIR 85P IS A FAST PUMPING, SOLID, DURABLE, WELL MADE PUMP WITH A MINOR DESIGN FLAW (FUSE ISSUE). DESPITE THE FUSE ISSUE, IT IS A GREAT CHOICE AS A PORTABLE TIRE PUMP TO KEEP IN THE CAR. DON'T USE IT TO INFLATE BICYCLE TIRES OR USE IT NEAR IT'S MAXIMUM 60PSI RATING.

when i first saw this product i was so excited that i had to have it because i use my phone and it dies.

when i received this product it was working fine, it would charge my phone.

after a week or so of having it, it stopped working, my phone would be at 5% so ill put the portable charger and 3 hours later my phone was still at 5%.

I called customer service to exchange the product, i was told that they was no more in stock but they can refund my money. when they refunded my money i went and bought another one because i really need it. thinking this time it would be different.

when i received the new one after a month it stopped working. i couldn't charge the portable charger and when i was able to charge it a little i plug in my phone and i had to keep the phone and the portable charger in one positions without moving it. if i moved it a little it would stop charging. every little movement would stop the charging process.

i could't get my money back because you only have one month to return it.

very disappointed!!

I've gone through a number of charging accessories for my power hunger iPhone 3GS. A common problem encountered is "This accessory is not made for this device" nag screen every time you plug it in. This charger doesn't have that problem. Another problem with other chargers, beside needing to be 5v instead of 12v, is the output current is too weak to keep up with the high drain of the 3GS when your running something like GPS navigation. This charger went with me to Europe and back and worked perfectly. The most appealing part of the deal for me was the EU adapter which also functioned as needed. It is really portable I had no problems carrying it through my travels. This charger kept my camera going for about a year until I lost my camera. I bought one of these because i needed to charge 6v and 12v batteries. It has served me well. I can say on the downside that i'm not sure if it's good as a battery maintainer. It charges the 12v batteries to 14.7v before it reads full with the green light and keeps them at that voltage... i didn't think these sla batteries were supposed to go that high in voltage but it doesn't seem to have damaged the battery in any way and it does take a while to charge... for being 500 mah i figure if i have a 7ah battery to expect it to take 14 hours from dead to full, it takes about 8 to 10. I noticed with my multimeter in the off position it still produces about 2.5 volts... not sure why. It does a better job with 6 volt batteries than 12 volt, again, not sure why... but it eventually reaches full on each. I am pleased with the product and have ordered a second since i have a few batteries i'd like to keep full and am happy with the charger.

Garmin Nuvi 765T Battery Replacement Kit with Installation Video Review

If you own a Nuvi 765T you probably know by now that when constantly using the unit powered from the car's cigarette lighter, the original battery will drop dead and loose its ability to charge pretty quickly. After about 2 years owning one, the battery would hold a charge for no longer than 5 minutes. I was sure I'd find an elegant solution out there to service the unit myself, and sure enough, I came upon this product/

This is a very practical solution to refurbishing your Nuvi 765T GPS. It comes complete with a screwdriver and lever needed to unscrew and pry the unit open. A double-sided tape would have been a nice add-on but I was able to use the one I peeled off the old battery from inside the GPS. There is also not much room for the battery to room around inside so I wasn't too worried. All in all, it took me 3 minutes to replace the battery.

Highly recommendable to make a low cost battery uplift to your used / battery depleted unit.

I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought this kit with a DVD to tell me how to install a new battery in my Garmin Nuvi 765T. I was very pleasantly surprised to see (by watching the enclosed DVD that ran without a hitch on my computer) that I just had to unscrew two small screws in the back, use the green shimmy tool to GENTLY pry open the case (and this was the hardest part took me probably about 6 minutes, but it wasn't awful...just had to be careful and patient the video made it look a bit easy), disconnect two circuits on the board which came out easily, take out the old battery (again, a little patience required because of the cement-like glue they use to hold it to the back of the Garmin's case), use a piece of double-sided tape which I had in a drawer (didn't come in the kit...sounds like some people get double-sided tape and others don't) to seat the new battery where the old one was and stick it down, then go in reverse!

Having the DVD helped relieve any anxiety about the "procedure" of opening up my GPS. It really was easier than I had expected. The battery showed 4 bars (full) on my Garmin when I booted it back up, which made me smile. :) Charging now for the heck of it and I plan to give it a shot tomorrow since I use my GPS several times a week. Now I can spend the money I saved on maps for life. Thanks, seller, for a GREAT product I'll definitely be back if I need your help again! :D CHEERS!

The tools that came with the battery were easy to use and great to have around for when I need to tighten the screw in my glasses. I am not sure whether our Garmin is simply a lemon or whether this product is. It might well be the former but either way we have no functioning GPS. Installation was simple thanks to the accompanying video and our Garmin appeared to kick in with full power when we first charged it up. But, alas, it drained, displayed "Low Battery," and stopped working within 30 minutes just as it had prior to switching out the battery. Very annoying. I would make sure you truly have a battery issue before you purchase this because we obviously can't go back to Garmin now having opened the unit and installed this.

After finally tiring of an original Garmin battery in my 765T that simply wouldn't hold a charge very long, I decided to give this DIY product a try because Garmin's service department wanted around $100 and 2 weeks for battery replacement! Well I can now say that the all-in-one solution this kit provides takes out all the guesswork from the process and did the job for me completely, and for far less than shipping it back to Garmin.

My kit came in an easy-to-open clamshell case along with an instructional DVD in a white paper sleeve. Although not needed for my installation, a note tucked inside the DVD sleeve informed me that the instructional video could also be downloaded if the DVD was unplayable for any reason. I did a quick view of the DVD instructions so I knew what to expect and then opened up the kit and got to work. I followed right along with the DVD, pausing it after each instruction segment to perform the next step. The entire process from start to finish was about 10 minutes. My GPS then fired right up with a full 4-bar battery charge showing right out of the package. The instructions recommend fully charging the new battery anyway for at least 2 hours before using the unit. My 765T now holds a charge just like it did when it was brand new and I'm very satisfied with how easy the kit made the job!

From reading other reviews, it seems like there sometimes were (and still could be?) differences in what some people received in their kit. I don't know whether or not there was a quality control issue but my kit came complete. It contained the appropriately sized Torx screwdriver for the 2 case screws, a double-ended plastic shim/pry for case separation and old battery removal, a strip of double-sided tape to hold the new battery in place, and the replacement battery itself.

One minor complaint (and the reason for giving a 4-star rating instead of 5) -the replacement battery is advertised to be a High Capacity Extended Life battery that "offers even more up time than your original". Mine came printed with a rating of 1250 mAh, exactly the same rating as the original Garmin 765T battery it was replacing. That issue aside, this kit makes it easy and inexpensive for you to replace your unit's battery, thus extending its useful life, and is definitely recommended!

I put this cordless iPhone charger in my purse or diaper bag and use it on the go. It came in handy at a wedding this weekend when my iPhone died and I needed to take pictures! I charged it for a few minutes and then I was good to go.
