Great battery. I got this battery for a 99 Honda Shadow VT600CD Motorcycle, and it's been great, virtually no maintenance(it was a pain in the ass to install, due to where the battery goes in my bike no fault of the product itself) and has started every single time.

I got my bike used months ago and the previous owner always had power issues he couldn't sort out (flickering lights, stalling out every once in a while, requiring a push start or jump start almost every cold start) and after touching up some general wiring I still had minor issues and especially the failure to start, so I ordered this battery here. I was skeptical at first due to the excellent price, but after putting this battery in my bike it has started like a champ, immediately, every time. I've now been running my bike for several weeks with this battery, as I wanted to be sure it had solved my problem before writing this review, and it's been doing great I haven't had to push start the bike a single time since.

Purchased this as a replacement for the battery in my son's Razor Dune Buggy. The battery is slightly wider than the original so it required a minor modification to the battery hold-down bracket used on the go-kart.

I got these batteries for a razor e300 after installing they worked but I come to find out the razor had other issues. I can't say for sure if they hold charge or anything more except that they did charge up and when tested on another device(not a scooter) they powered it up.

They did get here quickly and the order was expedited quickly as well. I was even surprised they got here the day they did because it was during hurricane sandy so kudos to your company for sending it out quickly and to the post office for delivering it.

I will do more business in the future. Thank you.

Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 Player Review

I am new to the XM/satellite radio world so I don't have any legacy relative value issues compared to past or competing XM radios (e.g., FM transmitters). I can only describe my view of this product on its own merits...and I must say I've been thoroughly impressed. Browsing channels and listening to stations is easy as can be, the content is pretty solid, and the moreover, this Samsung unit looks good and works well. It is a VERY hassle free way of discovering and saving new music.

I can't get enough of the feature where if you're listening to a song or program, at any time you can hold the center button for a second and it will record the entire song (since the beginning!) and save it to memory, for listening later. It's a great way to build a library! Never again do I have to hear a song on the radio and try to guess what song it is and hope that maybe I can buy the album later. With this, I've got a pure digital copy on here, ready to go on what is effectively my portable music player!

Only drawback is that, as a satellite radio, I find that you do need reasonable access to the sky to get a signal (it starts to cut out about five to ten feet away from a window, for example). So I can't use this in the middle of a giant office building (read: my workplace). But, when I'm home the "home antenna" is connected to the docking cradle. Once in the cradle, it's plug and play and I never worry about reception. Also, I can have it record programs and whatnot for listening later...kinda like a Tivo.

Almost 3 years ago, my wife got an iPod. Three weeks ago, I got the Samsung Helix. Already, I've listened to the Helix more than she's listened to the iPod. Why is that? My wife's too busy to load up her iPod. The dirty little secret to the iPod is that, although it holds thousands of songs, to enjoy thousands of songs, you have to spend hundreds of hours loading the iPod with thousands of songs. If you do it legitimately, it will cost thousands of dollars to load thousands of songs on the iPod. Contrast this with the Samsung Helix. With the Helix, you immediately have access to all the live XM content. You can record songs from radio broadcasts automatically, and you can use Samsung's Napster service for loading via computer, similar to iPod/iTunes.

The Samsung Helix debuted a year ago with a price near $400, video iPod territory, but now it's selling for about $100, the price of an iPod Nano. At the new price, the faults of the Helix are inconsequential, and compared to the Nano, it's a steal. Let's say your iPod budget for new songs is $12/month. At the end of a year, if you play fair, you have 144 songs. If you put the same money into an XM subscription, you have access to hundreds of songs practically immediately. If you're in a hurry to get a specific song, you can buy it or load it from your PC via its Napster software.

The Ownership Experience:

I unpacked the Helix, read the directions, and charged it up. I set it to record some stations overnight, and the next morning, I had hours of fresh music to listen to. I can also listen live to over a hundred streams of music, sports, news and comedy. I can keep the songs I like, and delete the ones I don't. No sweat, no problems.

I live in an area with good ground transmitters, so even without access to the southern sky, I usually get good reception, even indoors and in my car with just the built-in antenna. For the times that I can't get radio reception, I have hundreds of songs that I have pre-recorded and stored in the Helix's half-gigabyte flash memory. The display is excellent. The battery life is good, about 4 hours. The home dock is convenient and reception is improved with the indoor antenna attached to the dock.

Nitpicks: The earbuds aren't great. It could use some more sound-contouring options. The Napster software only works with Windows machines, and I have a Mac. More memory wouldn't hurt (but I haven't run out yet.) The car cord should come with the main unit, and they shouldn't have crippled the FM transmitter. Channel preset buttons would be nice. It would be nice if it picked up AM & FM radio.

Tips you won't find anywhere else: I replaced an old XM radio, a Delphi Roady2 (that bit the dust) with this one. Don't bother going to the XM website for instructions on how to replace one radio with another, you won't find the answer there. Call their toll-free line and select the option to talk to a live representative. The live representative can add the new receiver to your account in the place of the old one. By the way, the Roady2 antenna works with the Helix, but not the AC adapter or car cord. The Roady2 remote mostly works with the Helix.

Judging by the blow-out prices in May-June 2007, the successor to this first-generation Helix may be coming out any day now. Once it hits the streets, there will be a short window where you can compare the two and either get the old one on close-out or the new one. It makes a great Father's Day present.

Update: July 2007

Now that I've had the Helix for a few months. I've learned a bit more. Around town (Indianapolis IN), I can receive signal in the car with the built-in antenna. On a long trip, however, most of the time, I had to use an external antenna. Since I don't have the car dock, I took the home-dock with me. You need the home dock to connect the external antenna, but you don't need to connect AC power to the home dock. I used the mobile antenna to my defunct Delphi Roady2.

Although the included software does not work with the Mac, according to more than one website, the Mac will recognize a Helix attached via USB as a disc, and there is limited file management available. I haven't tried this yet.

Finally, it looks like prices are going up, not down, as Samsung works through its stocks. It could be that a planned replacement is being held up due to resistance by the powers that be that don't like portable satellite radios that store content.

Best Deals for Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 Player

I purchased a Helix and find that it is a great piece of electronic hardware. However, out of the box it has a firmware glitch that causes the battery to drain overnight if it is off the cradle. The reason being is that even off, the unit is still powering the remote control receiver. A simple firmware upgrade at XM Radio fixed the problem.

Performance of the internal antenae is hit or miss. I have received great reception inside of a large grocery store while at other times it cuts out on the dash of my car. It just depends on where you are. The external antenae works great.

With 50 hours of recording time, I record channels overnight so I can listen when reception is spotty. The overall controls are easy to use. Sound quality is not CD quality, more like low grade FM. Channel selection is great.

I would recommend this product, but just be sure to update the firmware.

As a note, I learned after some research that the Inno and the Helix are made by a subsidiary of XM and sold under the Pioneer and Samsung label, so they are virtually identical. Technical support at XM was more helpfull than at Samsung

Honest reviews on Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 Player

Update. I bought the Helix and it is everything I imagined and more. Sure, the FM modulator has been changed, something that really angered me but after a month of use realized that I haven't even missed it. Stop complaining about it, if you can't live w/o the fm mod, don't buy this product. The reception is as good as FM in my area (Boston) and I've had no need for the car kit, the Helix pulls in a signal all by itself. I get a signal in my office which has no windows. I get a signal with it in my pocket. In fact, I've never had trouble getting a signal, it even works fairly well in the subway. I've saved and locked over 200 songs with only 16% of my memory being taken up.

I also can't overstate my experience with Samsung's customer service. It is the best I've ever dealt with by far. No, I don't work for them or know anyone who does but they don't outsource their call centers so you speak with an American who is fluent in English. I haven't experienced customer service like Samsung's in years. Their customer service is the reason I waited for the Helix rather than buy an Inno.

The Helix is also the same price as the Inno. You can find both products for much less than the $399 retail price. If you are paying more for the Helix than the Inno, you aren't doing your homework.

This is my 4th XM radio and by far the best.

ok, I'll make it simple.

a. If you like to listen to XM radio on the go, this is the unit for portable listening.

b. Buy the headset to go with it as it improves the reception 100%, quality is good too. It works ok with the small antenna on it, but you need an unobstructed sky view.

c. You must have a clear shot to the southern sky. if you are in the area with lots of trees or buildings obstructing the southern sky, you will have issues.

d. you can listen to XM radio in Mexico or anywhere south of the USA. I just got back from Cancun and it worked great. PS XM wont' tell you that directly, but their satilite is over the equator.

e. Battery life on XM direct is about 4 hours, if you want more I suggest you get the spare battery. If you listen on My XM recordings it lasts about 810 hours. Will record up to 50 hours, depending on how you configure the memory. I recorded a mixture of channels and it was great, easy and simple. Basically I recorded live XM channels and listened to them when I was in areas of no reception with direct XM. I just set it up at night and let it record. You can also set up times for it to record.

f. Get the outside case for the unit as it will help protect it. A few dollars will help if you drop the unit.

g. It takes a few minutes to get use to how it works, but once you play with it awhile it becomes easy.

h. It states you can record songs after they have started and get the whole song, yes it can, but make sure you dont' lose satilite receiption otherwise it will not get the whole song and you have to leave it on that specific channel for about 5 mintues for it to catchup to the old song. But the function is pretty cool.

i. I use it for strictly portable use. I have a auto unit in my car with no complaints.

j. you have to have an XM subscription, and if you get the family plan, it's will cost you about $6.00 a month to have this unit. Plus you must listen to music on it at least 8 hours direct XM radio a month or it will lost any music you save from live XM.

k. you can record MP3 music of your own choosing too. instructions are simple and there is a CD that runs you thru the process. Suggest you get your XM subscriptions first before to install the software. Activiation is easy.

In general. if you are an advid XM subscriber and have XM to listen to mostly commercial free music, this is a great portable unit to use. If you think it will be used once in a while, then get a good MP3 player. Otherwise is a nice unit, durable, fun and cool... I've had it for about 6 months. Clear shot to the souther sky is critical to get good direct receiption, otherwise, don't buy it, as you will be frustrated in getting good reception.

I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag.

I've had several other portable air compressors in the past but they were always in the $20, and below price range, which in essence turned out to be "junk. This is the first time I've purchased a Viair Air Compressor. I was hesitant in spending nearly $50 for for one, but once I received it I was very impressed with its quality and efficiency. I like the fact that the air hose fitting is brass and the end screws onto the air valves of tires. Unlike the toggle type of hose fittings on the cheaper models (which leak a substantial amount of air when you attach or detach them to the air valve and are cumbersome to use), the screw on brass fitting of the Viair loses a negligent amount of air during this operation. The pump is relatively quite for a portable, and it doesn't bounce around nearly as much as the cheaper models tend do. The air gage is very accurate (readings should be taken with the air hose attached and the compressor off ). My bicycle tires were about 15 lbs low and it only took the compressor 10 seconds to air them up. My car tires were about 3 lbs low and it took less than a minute to fill them. I also like the fact that the accessories for airing up air mattresses, basketballs and the like, are cradled on the compressor. All to often I forget where I put these items when I need them if not attached to the compressor. Compared to other air compressors within the same price range, I think this is by far, a cut above the rest.

I believe that Amazon.com provides the broadest and best items available and in the widest price ranges. Their "Prestige" shipping program is outstanding, and their customer satisfaction guarantee is the best.

Best Deals for VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor

Item arrived quickly. The compressor is very compact and feels well built and heavy.

I verified before purchase that it draws 14.5 amps, 12v. My power sources on a 05 landcruiser are 15 amp 12v. I tested it this weekend. Started the vehicle, used the rear cargo Aux socket to fill the two rear tires, it has plenty of power and inflated quickly. I moved it to the front cabin Aux socket on dash, and it blew the 15 amp fuse. Then I used the 15 amp cig lighter socket, and it blew that too.

Its not much use if it blows the fuse when you need it most.

I'm going to look into a direct battery power adapter plug.

Honest reviews on VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor

After reading all of the reviews, I still was not convinced that I could trust this product, so I called the company, VIAIR directly with questions. First, I got right through to their technical department, and was given very clear answers to my questions. My main question was about blowing any fuses, as some reviewers had complained about, and the technician assured me that would not happen, as long as I had the engine running BEFORE I plugged in and turned on the compressor. After I spoke to the technician I decided to go ahead and purchase the VIAIR 85P compressor. When it arrived the directions on the box were very clear about turning on your engine before operating the compressor. The compressor is extremely easy to use. The brass screw on tire chuck for the tire stem is so much more convenient and easier to use than the machines at local gas stations, because you just screw it on and you do not have to hold it in place. It filled up my tire to the correct pressure in less than a minute, and the tire gauge makes it impossible for you to make any errors in judgement as to how much or how little to fill your tire, as long as you know what the PSI is for your tires. I am thrilled that I purchased this product. It is everything that the company advertises it to be and more. Also, as one previous reviewer suggested, keep the box, it is very convenient to store the compressor in, and has a convenient plastic carry handle.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor

This is a solid, well make unit. I've had 3 portable air compressors for personal automobile use over the last several years. This one is generally the best that I've owned. It is small, quiet, compact and doesn't bounce around. On my unit, the PSI gauge is relatively accurate which I crossed checked with a high quality dial type tire pressure gauge. I take my car to high performance driving events and for those of you that travel light to track events (no trailer), this is great pump to pack rat with the rest of your gear. It stands up to heavy use WHEN USED FOR CAR TIRES. The bronze twist on tire chuck is thick, solid and better made than those on other portable units. This is important if you are adjusting pressures on all four tires a few times a day over the course of a two/three day weekend track event. For a small portable pump, it's FAST. The pump works well for general, casual home use as well. But, with a PSI rating of 60, it is not made for bicycle tires. Small bicycle tires inflate extremely quickly with this unit. You have to watch the gauge very carefully and it is all to easy to exceed the pressure rating for the unit faster than you expect. This is where the design of the unit is flawed. When pressures exceed 60 PSI the fuse for the cigarette lighter in your car (20amp for my car) will blow before the fuse in the pump's power port plug will blow. It should be the other way around in my opinion. I think the people that complain of repeatedly blowing fuses in their car are likely using the 85P beyond the maximum 60PSI rating on the unit. The VIAIR 90P has a higher 100 PSI rating. I've never seen the 90P, but the push on attachment chuck is probably inferior for frequent use. I've had pumps with the push on type chucks, and inside of this type of chuck will wear down with repeated use. IN SUMMARY THE VIAIR 85P IS A FAST PUMPING, SOLID, DURABLE, WELL MADE PUMP WITH A MINOR DESIGN FLAW (FUSE ISSUE). DESPITE THE FUSE ISSUE, IT IS A GREAT CHOICE AS A PORTABLE TIRE PUMP TO KEEP IN THE CAR. DON'T USE IT TO INFLATE BICYCLE TIRES OR USE IT NEAR IT'S MAXIMUM 60PSI RATING.

This small screwdriver comes with a right angle attachment for hard to reach places. Great for annoying little jobs where you never have a short enough screwdriver or a right angle manual tool takes forever to use. The included case keeps everything together. One complaint: the direction switch always seems to get bumped off the desired position. Also, the magnetic socket is so strong that the bits are sometimes difficult to remove. All in all, a good tool for the money.

This very small driver packs a lot of power. I used it to drive 1-1/2" screws into old, dried, very hard wood. It did the job admirably and the torque didn't seem to diminish at all during the job (12 screws). I didn't need the right angle attachment for this job, but I did attach it and play with it a little and I know it will be very handy when I have to drive screws in a tight place. This is probably not a tool a professional construction person would choose, but it's great for home owners and do-it-yourself types.

Great little driver, strong enough to do many screws forward and backwards. The light is helpful; I especially like the

Overall, happy with this product.

Honest reviews on SKIL 2354-02 iXO 4-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Driver With Right Angle

I picked up every single cordless screwdriver & electric drill at Loew's, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Tool King, and all the local hardware stores, looking for something that wouldn't strain my hand. They either fit my hand but were too heavy or vice versa. I didn't want to order a "ladies" drill online since I couldn't handle it ahead of time; bad idea. I found this recently at a Home Depot, and it's both lightweight and small enough for me to grasp without fatigue. My husband gave me a ratchet thingy (technical term) that allows me to use drill bits with this tool, too. Now my main concern is keeping him away from it since he prefers it for small jobs. I probably should have purchased the pink one...

As is the case with most cell phones, my battery loses it's ability to hold a charge so having this in my car is nice and the fact that it's so compact means less clutter. The only drawback is it seems to heat up when I use it which may actually be an issue with my car, not the charger.

Juicebar DO10-JB Pocket Solar Charger
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

We got a free one as part of supporting a local radio station. In this case we got what we paid for. It worked once, charging an iPhone from 95% to 100%. Since then it goes dead within seconds of plugging in a phone, and letting it bake in the sun for a day just causes it to report it's fully charged to go dead again seconds after anything is plugged in.

A nice idea, and it would have been useful on mission trips to Haiti where power is frequently hard to come by. But the implementation is a disaster.

---

We got a replacement unit, and this one didn't die the first day we used it. So I tried some experiments.

First, I charged it in the sun for a half day, and it showed some blue on the indicator bar. so I plugged in my iPhone. The iPhone battery began to drop, fairly quickly. Frustrated, I disconnected the iPhone and plugged the juicebar into my laptop, to charge it that way. After a few hours the bar went solid blue, and I plugged the iPhone back again.

Now the iPhone began to charge.

Apparently, the juicebar compares its internal battery to whatever it's plugged into, and decides whether it should charge itself up, or charge the other device, based on that. In other words if its internal battery is low and you plug it into a mostly-charged iPhone, it's going to assume you want it to drain the iPhone to charge its own battery. Consequence: forget using the juicebar to "top off" a mostly charged iPhone. You'll drain power instead.

Looking at the specs, this is a 2000 mAh battery and a 100 mAh solar cell (some apparently are rated at 80mAh). Even in a perfect world, it would take 20 hours of noonday sun to charge up the juicebar. 20 hours of bright sunlight being hard to come by in a day, this means that if you want a purely solar solution, you probably need to let the juicebar sit in the sun for 4 days, and maybe longer, to get it full. Then you can use it to charge a few devices, but once the juicebar starts to get low, it may start draining power instead.

I suspect the device would be fine in an Arizona summer. I live in Massachusetts. I doubt the juicebar is going to provide a complete charging solution. I kill an iPhone battery in a typical day of use.

Yes, you can fill the juicebar from your laptop. That goes quickly. But it's not efficient to charge a juicebar to charge an device; it wastes less power to just charge the device directly. The only way the juicebar is a win is if it charges from free sunlight, and see above.

I'm hoping this will be a better solution on trips to Haiti, which has plenty of bright sun and (where I go) unreliable power. In Massachusetts, my combination of heavy phone use and cloudy days means I'll continue to be tethered to charging from laptops, some amount of the time. And given how cheap it is to charge an iPhone, it would take a LOOONG time for this device to pay for itself on solar power.

Amusing idea, but in terms of ideal implementation, this is no titanium spork. Improvements: add a switch that tells the juicebar whether to charge, or be charged, from the USB port. Put a better battery indicator on it. Make it larger so a bigger solar cell can be added, or give it a fold out solar cell.

Great find! Small size, easily portable. Well built unit. I usually charge it via USB cable but it is nice having solar panel as a backup and I think that helps keep it at full charge between uses. Battery will give a full charge to my smartphone while on the road which is great for travel or when an electrical outlet is not handy.

Only negative is that the included adapter plugs are flimsy and the one I use most broke in half. So I replaced the entire cord/adapter combo with a dedicated micro USB cord.

The idea is solid. The charge meter is hard to read. You must leave it baking in the sun a very long time and does not hold a charge well. I would not suggest buying this.

I just took this charger on a 5 day hike. Everyone was asking to borrow it for their stuff. It can recharge itself so quickly that I had no problem lending it out. Great product.

This is a great charger! I love the fact I can charge my phone anywhere and if the charger loses power I can charge it in the sunlight.

The wife and I took a vacation recently, and knowing that we would be on the road for about two weeks, I started looking for a car charger for our phones. Here's the best part, besides the price, which was unbeatable . . . This charger not only fit both of our phones, it fit both of our Kindles, our bluetooths, and the "hotspot" that we used with our laptop! And it did this for about $12 and that included shipping. Verizon wanted $30 for the same item.

This is a must, for any battery that is stored for a few weeks or longer.

I used to charge my boat batteries every few weeks during the off-season, and only got 1 or 2 seasons out of them. Now I leave this charger on them all winter, and I already got 3 seasons out of the same type of batteries. Great product for the price.

This is a very simple, 'hook-it-up and forget-about-it' product. This is the second 2602 I've purchased in less than a year. The first I had to switch between two marine batteries every month or so, but both still remained fully charged. (Now I can keep one on each battery during the winter.) Our boat started right up this spring. I highly recommend this product for maintaining a charge.

I have been using this every winter for my 50 year old convertible (I'm the original owner) since I brought it up to the "snow belt." Haven't replaced a battery in many. many years. Come spring, the car fires right up, even with a carburetor.

I now use it for a second car I refuse to expose the saltsame thing for 7 years.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Nearly every modern electronic item comes with a USB-type charging wire (iphone, micro-USB, mini-USB and so on). Not all come with the USB wall plug. This Belkin travel wall charger is just about the size of the standard iphone charger and it actually works with my iphone (not all of these are formatted for use with iphone I found that out the hard way) most of the time (very infrequently, I get a message stating that charging "is not supported" with the device but I unplug it and plug it back in and it's fine). I don't think that has anything to do with Belkin since this works with every other device I own including my Kindle 2 Reader. For those people who have become accustomed to charging their devices via the USB port on their computers, this little gem will make your life easier because it charges devices quickly and efficiently and is handy enough to carry around in a pocket or keep in a desk drawer at the office for charging any USB charged device.

Love the fun design and pop of color, which makes it easy to find in my handbag when carrying it around.

Another good, quality product from Belkin.

I ordered two BELKIN MIXIT HOME AND TRAVE WALL CHARGER WITH USB PORT 1 AMP / 5 WATT, a different color for each of my girls, being a family that is huge on iPods. As a mother, iPods have been a blessing in many ways. What's not good is when someone's iPOD needs to be charged. My kids would plug their iPod into the computer I was using, creating a disruption for me as it automatically brought up iTunes. I was so excite to discover they have a charger for outlets. What a lifesaver it's been. Now my girls can charge their iPod touch themselves, anytime, anywhere. While lying in bed, they can charge their iPods as they play games. When going to a friends, they can easily take along their charge, so lightweight, and small.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This Belkin iPod/iPhone/iPad charger is another great little product from their line of chargers. It works with the iPhone 4S, iPad mini, and my iPod Touch 3rd generation. I also used it to charge a Kindle Fire and it worked with it as well, so it supports other devices not made from Apple.

The charger is small and only takes up one outlet on the wall so you can plug other things into the wall outlet as well. The size of the charger is perfect if you want to just stick it in your pocket or put it into your purse/bag when you are on to go. It comes in 6 different colors that add a pop of color to the device. The only downside is that it did not come with a cable like many other chargers do. Any cable that comes with your Apple device will fit it, and any standard USB cable will fit as well. But if you are wanting an extra cable you'll have to purchase it seperately.

Overall, a great little charger. I will be using it whenever I travel.

Not much to say about this besides the following: I got this in neon pink and this beautiful blue color and use them as travel chargers. I keep the blue set in my car and the pink set in my bag/purse. They are adorable and function just as good as the apple products do Except they are snazzier up with a pop of color!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Note : The Kindle Fire HD is NOT listed as a supported device on Belkin's website for this device, but I thought the symptoms are severe enough to note here. After all, it is just a USB power supply, and should work with the Fire HD.

If not for the Kindle Fire HD, I'd have rated this 5 stars (maybe 4.5 stars due to high price). Since that may be a deal breaker for some, let me mention it first.

I plugged this into a P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor to monitor how much power it is drawing from the mains. This is to have a rough idea of the efficiency. When I looked at how much power it draws when charging the Kindle Fire HD 7", I was surprised to see it fluctuate between 0 and 4W, changing every few seconds.

Wondering if this is a problem with the Kill-a-Watt, I unplugged it, and plugged it into the wall directly (and picked a different wall socket just in case). I can no longer observe the power draw, obviously, but I noticed something on the Kindle Fire HD. While charging, the battery indicator fluctuates between green (charging) and white (not charging). I tried turning off the screen. Within 5 seconds, the screen turned on again, indicating that USB power went away and came back. I powered off the tablet (not just the screen). Within 5 seconds, it powered back up again.

The Fire HD will draw up to 2 amps if the charger is able to supply it, but it will happily charge at a slower rate from less powerful chargers. I've charged it without any problem with my cell phone charger (750mA) and the USB ports on my Belkin power strip (1A).

It might be a defective unit I'll contact Belkin and update this review if I hear from them.

The unit itself is compact, attractive, and appears to be well built. Plugging it into a wall socket will not block the other plug. The pins are not polarized. Markings on the unit indicate that it will work with international voltage range I am unable to verify personally for the moment. The 2 pins do not retract or fold that would have made it a bit more compact and less prone to damage when packing it into a bag. It would be nice if there's some texture on the sides to make it easier to grip, but I had no problems unplugging it. The USB socket itself is tight, so cables will not drop out easily. There's no indicator lights on the unit it's a plain, simple 1A USB charger.

I plugged it into a Kill-a-Watt to measure power draw when not charging I wanted to know what's the standby power if I leave it plugged in all the time. There's definitely some power draw, but it was not high enough to register on the Kill-a-Watt (below 1W). I left it plugged in for 24 hours and it didn't show up under kWh either. Assuming 0.01 kWh (the smallest resolution Kill-a-Watt will show) leaving this plugged in all the time will waste less than 0.3 kWh a month less than 10 cents for most people. If that bothers you, unplug when not in use, or use a switch like Belkin Conserve Power Switch.

I measured the power draw when charging, and it appears to be quite efficient. The resolution of the Kill-a-Watt is not detailed enough to give much accuracy for low power usage, but enough to see that there is not a lot of loss. The plug itself doesn't get warm either, indicating that not a lot of energy is lost as heat.

I tried recharging my cellphone (Galaxy Nexus), a USB external power supply / battery (Motorola P4000 Universal Portable Power Pack Retail Packaging Black) and even used it to power my Raspberry Pi. They all worked without any issue (the Raspberry Pi is finicky about power supply, and needs a stable power to run reliably). I left the Raspberry Pi running for a couple of hours, ran software updates, installed some packages, and there were no hiccups at all. I don't expect there to be any problems with iPhone and iPod, though it is worth noting that despite iPhone 5 being prominently mentioned as supported, it does not come with the Lightning cable.

It's a shame about the issue with the Kindle Fire HD. I suspect the iPad (2.1A maximum, but can charge from less powerful chargers) might give it fits as well. I'll see what Belkin has to say about this issue.
