I don't normally write reviews, but I didn't see any for this product and took a chance on buying it, and it worked out well, so I thought I should write one.

I have an iPhone that I use to play music via the aux-in port in my Prius and there was a lot of noise in the signal, especially if the headlights were on, and this was particularly problematic if I turned the volume way up for soft music (e.g. Renaissance lute music).

With this noise filter, that problem is gone.

I have a car stereo with an AUX-in port. Unfortunately, when my car is running and I have my iPod plugged in, I get a very obnoxious electronic whine (more noticeable during the summer at night, with the headlights on and the ac running...the more electrics running in your car, the louder the whine). It would get so bad that it would make listening to music more of an annoyance than anything.

Searching on Amazon for an auxiliary charger for my iTouch, I came across this in a "Buy these two devices together and save" item. And I am happy to say it completely eliminated all electronic whine/feedback. It could not be simpler to install...plug one end of the isolator into your AUX port, and the other end into your iPod/mp3 player/auxiliary accessory(Griffin AutoPilot FM Transmitter for iPod, Kensington LiquidAUX Auxiliary Car Kit with Remote for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G, etc.) It works like a charm. The way it works is its circuitry isolates any ground loops in your stereo (depending upon how it was installed, you may have a bad ground and that can cause an annoying whine).

HIGHLY recommended for anyone who wants to listen to their music and charge at the same time.

I had horrible transmission noise on my MazdaSpeed 3 when charging my iPhone 3GS and plugged in to the auxiliary port. I tried my phone in two other cars and couldn't reproduce the problem, it was definitely my car. I have an old school 15gig iPod which is great in the car because the buttons aren't on the click wheel. Well, the battery doesn't last anymore and everytime I played it with the battery adapter on, you could hear the whine from the alternator on acceleration. After plugging through the PAC, silence. I dare say, the music actually sounds better! Very, very satisfied.

I use this as a backup power source for my pellet stove. If the power goes out when the stove is on, you get a smoky mess since it relies on a fan for combustion and exhaust. I chose to go the APC route instead of the stove-branded unit I feel more comfortable with a company that knows this business well. I could not be happier with it fast switching, charges the battery fast after the outage too. Ultimately simple as well the switch is either off, or automatic or charge-only. Set it and forget it!

Here in South Florida, we have what would be described as unpredictable weather... which leads to unpredictable power ;-). Since I work at home on the computer, I need to be able to work through our unexpected power outtages which can last several hours at a time. My UPS just wouldn't cut it for power outtages lasting more than an hour or so.

Enter the king of UPS's, the APS 750! I bought a marine battery at Walmart for under $70 and connected it to the unit. Just the one battery gives me about 5 to 6 hours of run-time for both my desktop and my LCD monitor. If I need more run-time, I can simply connect more batteries in parallel.

Like a regular UPS, the unit charges when it has power, and switches to battery during a surge or blackout. Though the transfer time is a bit higher than a typical UPS, it doesn't seem to matter.

I have an off-road trailer that I use for research. I purchased the APS750 and coupled it with a 105 AH AGM battery in the nose box of the trailer. Away from mains power, it provides excellent run time for several laptops and communications equipment. I keep the battery charged with solar panels off-road and take advantage of the 20A charging capacity of the APS750 when mains power is available. It's a 750W sine wave inverter, transfer switch, and battery charger in a rugged package perfect for my needs. I highly recommend the APS750 for mobile applications where high quality and reliable power is important. I can see where it might make a good emergency power system too.

[Edit Sept. 21, 2011: In my original review I stated that the Tripp Lite APS750 was a pure sine wave inverter. I removed that statement from my review as I learned through investigation that the output is pure sine wave when running on mains power (as expected) and PWM (pulse width modulated) sine wave when running on battery. PWM sine wave should not be confused with the fixed square wave output of cheaper inverters. PWM provides tight voltage regulation (+/5%) and eliminates harmonic noise the static hum you might hear with sensitive equipment if run on a cheaper square wave inverter. PWM sine wave is suitable for sensitive electronic equipment and motors. Anyway, I've been running sensitive radio communications equipment and computers on my APS750 with no problems.]

I brought one of these down to Costa Rica to deal with the unexpected power outages that happen on a semi regular basis. I hooked it up to two 100 amp hour deep cycle batteries. This will run my lights, electronics, wifi, computer, and short use of tools for a day or more (maybe much longer/ never tested). I separate & leave equipment with higher energy draws (like the refrig, pumps, washer, dryer, air conditioner) off the same power out electrical line. When set to operate automatically, this inverter takes over and supplies the 120 volts of electricity from the batteries via inverter when your grid electricity goes off. This unit will also regulate the grid voltage when voltage drops low or spikes high. The batteries are automatically recharged when the grid electricity comes back on. Great product for good competitive price. In my opinion: This is the BEST DEAL on the market. I believe Tripp Lite knows what they are doing when I study their full line of products. I see they also make auto power supplies for medical use. 2012 Update: My Tripp Lite APS has been working flawlessly for 4 years in Costa Rica's humid beach climate. Another Plus: Any electric powered burglar deterrent hooked up to this system will work 24/7 including when the grid is off line.

OK. This is VERY important. This unit does NOT output a real sine-wave when on DC power. The output is a chopped up "sine-wave" which drops to zero volts many times over a single wavelength. This unit does NOT play nicely with most furnace or pellet stove blowers, certainly not my 1/6 HP blower on my Lennox furnace. NOWHERE IN THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION does it say that the output on DC power is a "PWM sine wave output". However, if you go to the Tripp Lite website, find this product and go to the specifications tab, this is what you will find:

LINE POWER (AC): Maintains 120V nominal sine wave output from line power source. INVERTER POWER (AC): Maintains PWM sine wave output voltage of 120 V AC (+/-5%).

Freaking great. So much for "clean, computer grade power". That is a load of B.S., honestly. If I had known, for even a second, that this unit didn't output a real sine wave, I would have purchased something else. Apparently, you have to get the TRIPP LITE APS1012SW 1000 Watt 12 Volt Inverter / Charger Pure Sine Wave 120 Volt 4A/40A Hardwire at approximately TRIPLE the cost to get a real sine wave output on DC power. So now I'm stuck with this thing, as I bought this thing, then researched batteries, then got that, then tested the setup out on stuff besides my furnace, then had to modify the wiring to/from my furnace by cutting it and putting an outlet in one box, and a power cord in another, so I could insert this setup in between furnace and mains power, and thus it's been more than 30 days. Nor will Tripp Lite help me, as it "clearly" says in the specifications that this is a PWM output on DC power. They will allow me to trade up to the 1012SW if I pay the difference in RETAIL prices.

So, yippee. Just dandy. If you buy this, make sure that you test it out within the return time on the actual equipment you want to backup power. And if you have a pellet stove, chances are it won't work according to what the Tripp Lite representative told me.

As someone who has worked on and used commercial Motorola radio equipment, I do have a bias for Motorola. Granted these FRS radios are nowhere near the quality and durability of those heavy duty higher power commercial units, but for the price you pay, they perform as expected. The MR350 has all the features one would want for emergency or other communication on most outdoor activity. Although the radio did not have the heavy duty solid feel of a competitor I tried recently, it did quite well on a recent rainy day hike. Perhaps the light weight, "plastic" feel of this unit is an advantage when traveling light.

I gave these radios 4 stars because I learned at a later time that these were not useable with repeaters. However, I take some of the blame for that as well because I did not do enough research to realize some can and some can't. Moving on though, the value pak I think is pretty complete with charging adapters for the home as well as the car. The battery packs appear to have plenty of capacity for many hours of use. The VOX sttings and Headset is convenient as is the removable clip. I found the menue to be easy to use and all the buttons work as described in the instructions. I will use these for hunting, camping and other outdoor activities, however, since I havn't been out with them yet I don't know what kind of range I will get. I do go places that have partial obstruction.

This is my third FM transmitter (gave one to gf, other to totalled car). I absolutely hate this product. If the source is too loud, there is tons of static, too quite and it automatically turns off thinking nothing is playing. If the intro to a song is quite it turns off. Turns off constantly while I am playing music through it. Currently on a road trip and it won't work at all after 4 hours. Probably won't buy another because I'm cheap, but I immediately regretted this decision.

I purchased two of these from five and below, they work very well for the price. I also have the more expensive monster FM transmitter and I find the range to be slightly better with this unit. My only design complaint is that the battery door does not keep the batteries firmly in place and may cause the transmitter to lose power if it is in motion... simple fix though: some foam or folded piece of paper applied to the battery door and the batteries will stay in place.

I have tried this unit on all types of small batteries so far so good. It does a lot of tests and diagnosing. This is by no means a speed charger, but it is a great slow good charger. Seems like pretty good quality.

*Update I have had this for a few months and now I can understand what it is telling me but was confusing at first. I like it a lot it does a great job.

The OptiMate 6 is fantastic. I have had it for a week and used it on 6 AGM batteries ranging from 5 AH to 79 AH in capacity and 6 months to 3 years in age. Two of the batteries were completely dead (wouldn't even light a little light bulb). One of those wouldn't even take a charge from the charger that came with it. The others were in various states of discharge. 5 of the 6 batteries now hold a charge and work as well as new. The 6th had been dead for several months. It now holds a sufficient charge, but is not "like new." I did have to run that one through several cycles of charging to get it to hold the charge.

The lights are a little confusing at first, but if you watch what it is doing and read the book, you can understand it. I keep the book next to the charger and review it as necessary. I am very comfortable with it, now, and rarely refer to the manual. As someone else stated, this is not a speed charger with maximum output of 5 amps,

I have seen different places state that this charger is good for different size batteries. The manual states that it is good for batteries ranging in capacity of 3AH to 240AH.

This charger never says it is finished because it goes into a "voltage retention test" mode once it is "finished" charging the first time and then into a maintenance mode where it sends current to the battery occasionally as it detects the need. You could consider the battery charge "finished" at either of these points.

The easiest directions I can give for this thing is to just plug it in and leave it alone until all of the lights stop flashing.

I received my charger recently and my experience is identical to the other reviewer's. When the phone is plugged in, touch doesn't work. Random applications open up, and it seemed as if my battery level discharged by a few percent after being plugged in for about 10 seconds (I used the diagnosic interface to notice the decrease--about 3%). It doesn't charge, the phone doesn't work, and it could even damage the phone in the long run.

Quite simply, do not buy this.

Guess you get what you pay for. $4 for 2 wall chargers and 2 car chargers seemed like a good deal. I received the products yesterday. I haven't tried the car charger, but the wall charger doesn't work as advertised. It may be charging my phone, but I'm unable to use it while it's being charged. My Samsung Focus started acting very strange when it was plugged in using this charger. I was unable to slide the locked screen up, so I unplugged it then unlocked the phone. I plugged it back it. At this point, the phone started switching between email accounts and apps on its own. I tried using both of the wall chargers and the same thing happened. The phone charging indicator looked like the phone was charging, but with this odd behavior I've become concerned it may damage the phone. I'm not using the wall chargers again. And I'm not sure if I'm going to bother trying the car charger after my experience with the wall charger.

I purchased four of these for use in my photography workshops, with the thought of buying eight more.. The transmission quality is excellent, but on three of the four, the push-to-talk button either stopped working altogether or required great pressure to activate, and is sporadic in its function. Very frustrating in the field when you are counting on them.

I bought these to keep track of my 10 year old son after having several moments of him wandering off or getting lost at amusement parks or festivals. These work great! When we go somewhere I give him one and I keep one. The idea is whenever (or if) we get seperated all I have to do is talk to him through these radios and I can then find him. I haven't had to use them to locate him yet though, but we do communicate through them all the time. We use them when he goes outside in the neighborhood. I can ring him up whenever I want to know what he is doing or when it is time to come home. He can "call" me whenever he has a question for me or wants to check in.

The range is great and I can understand him the vast majority of the time. These have really helped me feel better about him playing around the neighborhood. How great is it to be able to call him to come home rather than walking or riding around the neighborhood for several minutes to tell him to come home. I also know he has these if he gets into any trouble or gets injured and needs me so there is a big safety/security benefit to having these. I can see so many uses for these little radios. Hiking, camping, hunting, anywhere that there are large numbers of people and you want to stay in contact with someone, and last but not least--to us mothers or fathers that want to have some peace-of-mind. Also a good cheap alternative to a cell phone (which my son wanted and I told him NO) I highly recommend these radios!

I have used my Talkabouts out on the lake, while hunting, and while out in the shop. I left them behind when I went skiing (BIG MISTAKE!), and found myself NEEDING them constantly. Handy features include: Can choose whether or not to send a chirping noise when press talk button (default to on but can turn off when it becomes ANNOYING; button to send a "ring" to tell other person(s) to pick up; many channels to choose from. I always get clear reception, although I have never used them in a city so I can't vouch for that scenario.

Bought these for deer hunting in WI. Have a good range, decent sound clarity, and pretty good battery life. I hunt in a pretty traditional deer camp, so there was a lot of speculation on the part of my hunting partners to having radios in the woods. To be honest, I was too. By the end of the season we were all sold on the benefits. If you're thinking about it but not quite sure, take the plunge. It makes your hunt much more productive. Even if you only turn them on for a few minutes each hour to check in, it helps a lot to know where your hunting crew is to coordinate movement in the woods. For the price, you can't go wrong

I bought 28 of these panels (not on Amazon) and I think they're an amazingly good panel for the money. They are amorphous which means they charge in diffused sunlight not just direct sunlight.

I set up three of them on the deck in February on an overcast day and hooked them up to a discharged car battery. With my voltmeter I could tell they were putting out around 24 to 25 volts each and sure enough, the battery went from 10.4 volts (way too dead to even turn over the engine) to 12.5 volts (fully charged) by evening.

With solar panels it's dollars per watt that counts for comparison. Right now, anything that sells for about 2 bucks per watt is a good deal which is what I paid for mine. I could have bought two 100 watt panels, but I'm planning on putting my panels on roof mounted tilting axis poles so they can track the sun, and these panels are only 16" wide so the pole can be mounted very close to the roof and still get a high degree of tilt in either direction for tracking, but still be low enough not to get blown off by any nasty winds.

And panels are easy to link. Just connect the wires together in parallel (all the red wires to one big wire, all the black wires to one big wire) to increase your amperage. Each one puts out .58 amps so my 28 panels should provide just over 16 amps of charging power with a charge controller in line that will be plenty to fast charge a couple of deep cycle batteries and run lots of small appliances with an inverter.

I've had this unit for about a year now to keep my fair weather car battery up to par in the cold northeast winters. I contemplated getting one of the cheaper, brick type battery maintainers, but when I found this one, I liked the fact that it is voltage and polarity sensing. Even when shorted, the current does not flow until the clamps are properly configured & polarized on the terminals. Received this charger / maintainer to hook up to my ATV battery and immediately began using it. Have owned it for over 2 weeks now and it has run flawlessly, the automatic switch over works perfectly, the included quick connect wiring makes this thing super simple to hook up to your most often charged / maintained piece of equipment and the fact that it is so small makes it super easy to store when not in use. I cannot comment on its durability since i have had it such a short time but I will be sure to edit this review if something changes in its functionality. Also, the manual clearly states that this is suitable for large batteries only to "maintain a fully charged battery" but that it will ruin larger batteries if an attempt is made to "charge" said batteries.

i have used this product for about 8 months now. it is used to charge 6 and 12v batteries on multiple child electric cars. fully automatic switching between 6 and 12v. all that you have to do is hook up the alligator clips and plug it in. the very easy to read indicator lights on the front panel indicate whether or not you have a good connection. they also indicate with color change from yellow to green when you reach a full charge. i use this every time to charge the small cars, i threw away the cheap chargers that came with the cars. this is so much more dependable.

to the people that have problems, are you trying to charge batteries that this product is not intended for? the manual that comes with this charger tells you what batteries (volt and amps) that you should use it for. if used as intended, this is a great charger.

So far this charger has done its job well. I have used it to freshen up an ATV battery, lawn mower battery and a car battery. All the batteries were charge to the correct voltage and none were overcharged. I will be purchasing more of these to keep on all the batteries I have in things that do not get ran that much.

I bought this little charger [ as a matter of fact I bought two], to charge and maintain my various small batteries. They work great and they are "idiot proof".I would recommend one to anyone . For price,qualityand longevity you can't beat Schumacher. Ditto for Amazon!
