This is a initial review of the Midland LXT114 [pair].

I just picked these up over the 4th of July sale Ace Hardware had. Originally selling of $14. each, they had on special with a $10. rebate by mail check each. So for a final investment I thought I could not go wrong for $4. each! They are a bit larger that the pair of Uniden [5 yrs. old] GMR 325-2's that I already own. They take the same batteries AAA x 3 as the older ones. The clip seems nice and sturdy, the battery covers are a bit tricky to get off but I'm hoping they loosen a bit with age. One nice thing is that the pre-programmed channels [22] all have freq's that match the Unidens, I was not expecting this & very happy. So now I have four radios that work togather for a total investment of about $25!!! We mostly use on family/friend outings. Hoping these are better on battery use than the Unidens, we will see. FYI the screen is NOT backlit like the photo shows. It is a light grey [unlit] with bold black numbers. Not especially helpful in low-light/night situations. I will post additional comments as we use further.

This product working very good and sounds very clear for me. For my experience I found these two Midland and Uniden brands are best over all other brands: easy to use, battery last longer, and voice sound better. My battery life last longer on this brand name in compare to AudioVox, Motorola and Cobra brand. I like very much...and I bought a pair and then 2 months later bought another pair of (Midland GXT1050VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel) with higher mile range. So check it out and buy it whenever the price is right low. Thank you for reading.

The radios work just fine for a short distance. The vox , auto talk works on voice activation, but be careful what you say and remember it is on, because phone rings , talking on the phone, dog barking or any other slight noise will activate it. Tried these up to 5 miles in the country setting and would not work, but if you are closer they work just fine.

This radios don't work as good as they're advertise. As a matter of fact they don't even come close.

The manufacturer says that if you are in a flat area with no obstructions, that they can reach up to 18 miles. Well

I live in the country wich is the best place to test these because there's no interference and a quarter of a mile was all

I got from them. I bought these to keep in touch with my kids in a cruise and that was even worse.

If we weren't in the same floor we couldn't copy each other.

I own a smaller theatrical lighting and sound company and find that these radios work great as crew radios. We add the behind the ear boom headset and 3 triple A batteries and we are working the show! Nice strong clip too. And the clip is removable (I carry my radio in a shirt pocket. The keys a lockable (no VOX by mistake) and the batteries last a long time. They have great range indoors in a theatre(lots of concrete and steel) and are better outside. They have GMRS capabilities (I do have a license) but we have found we didn't need the GMRS side (at least not yet). They work out great for crew as they are small and light. They do not have privacy codes but We haven't needed that feature and radios that do are fully compatible. If we are on channel 1 the other radios are on 1 0 (channel 1 privacy code zero ) and all is well. I have also found that with fewer features, the less experienced (with radios) are not intimidated as there's only a couple of things to learn (on-off and push-to-talk) and they are trained users. I have owned numerous pairs of these Midland radios (they used to be at walmart!) and have supplied them to a couple of local performance groups also. (Probaly owned 20 pairs at one point so I guess I like them alot!!)

I was a little apprehensive about buying this since there were no reviews posted for it at the time. I can say that I am impressed with it. I needed a 1 amp USB wall charger for my GoPro camera, and I also needed it to have two ports so I can charge a second battery at the same time, that means both ports needed to be 1 amp each. Most multi port USB chargers ended up with .5 amps per port. This product is exactly what I was looking for. The packaging says "output: 5volts 2amps shared", and indeed it is 1amp per port. Charging is fast about 1.5 hours to charge both batteries at the same time (they only had about 50% charge left in them), and I can use it as an ac adapter for the camera while it is charging the battery. I also charged just the one battery in the camera using just one port and the charging time was about the same with the battery at about 50% charge left. The prongs fold in for storage and I have no problems with it staying attached to the wall outlet.

This product works great and is sturdy. The price is right. It powers a Garmin Nuvi 265T and a Blackberry Curve or two Blackberries at the same time. It takes a couple minutes for the Garmin to connect using the USB in the car instead of the adapter that comes with the GPS. The Nuvi probably is looking to connect to the computer with the USB so it takes a bit more time. The Palm Centro won't charge on this adapter. But I think the problem is probably due to the Palm rather than the charger.

The best thing about this adapter is its small size and it is very quiet. If you need an AC outlet, DieHard 140-Watt Power Inverter with Built-in USB Port would be a great choice.

April 2011 Update One of the ports broke after more than one year of heavy use. So I ordered one Scosche Dual USB Car Charger and another one of the Wagan Traveler Adapter. The Scosche is a little shorter but the ports are loose. Both worked fine. I prefer the Wagan over the Scosche. The cables plug in securely with the Wagan whereas the Scosche cable connections are loose.

I purchased this item at Wal-mart while on a business trip. I left my charger for my GPS at home and the GPS uses a mini-usb charging port. It worked perfectly for the GPS which draws a very small amount of power. I then used it with my laptop which uses a 70 watt adapter, well below the rated 140 watts. The unit fried in less than an hour. It burned out two fuses in my car. I foolishly tried it in a second cigarette outlet after it blew the fuse in the first one.

The unit smelled of burned electrical circuitry. I thought that perhaps I just got a defective unit until I read a review on Amazon about another Powerline brand inverter where the customer had the same experience with two units.

The unit is very compact and light. It easily fits into my computer bag and is 1/3 or less the weight of the typical converter. In that respect the unit is perfect but don't expect it to last long running a laptop. If they make it more durable for a laptop or any device pulling over 50 watts, this would be a great item.

I bought it from Walmart. I was playing music in my car for about 2 hours with the engine off. I then decided to plug the inverter into the cigarette lighter to charge my iPhone. When I connected the iPhone via the USB port, I could smell the unit burning and it blew the 20 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter/radio.

A few days later I opened the unit and I could see some type of white frothing that looked like whip cream but it was hard. I could not tell if this occured when the unit was frying since the smell was gone. The unit has a 25 amp fuse which was still intact which explains why the current by passed it and blew my car's 20 amp cigarette lighter fuse.

I think the amps on this should be less than that of cigarette lighters so that the unit should burn out first. I am no electrician but I believe this could start a fire starting at the unit.

It works but it is louder than your car's ac being on full blast! I thought there was something wrong with my car the first time i heard it kick on. Wait until you hear this thing! You can't use it unless it's in a noisy area. It would drive anyone nuts! Try to find a quieter one maybe. My old one, was built better, more stylish, compact, was silent and worked great. Wish I could find that one again. It finally broke after 5 years of kids kicking the crap out of it the shuffling around in my backseat. I will keep this one and just keep the stereo up unless I find a better one for now.

Well I have given this some time before I wrote this review. I bought 2 of these charging a 10 12v battery bank which feeds my grid tie inverters. I live in North Texas so in my area I don't have a lot of wind. As soon as I released the brake the blades started turning and only stopped for 2 days out of the month. I'm also running 1000w of solar so on a nice cloudy day the turbines pick up the slack for charging my batteries. I am very pleased with my turbines and plan on buying 2 more which will give me a total of 4 along with my solar. Sorry electric company. I'm just tired of paying your high rates.

This turbine is well built. All around one of the best I have tried for low wind's. There is a video on you tube with what this turbine look's like out of the box. Just search wind max turbine HY-400 on you tube. Power output is excellent for low wind. All around 5 star's. I am a electrician these can be a bit tricky to install and I suggest that you have a electrician wire them for you. The rest of the install can be fairly easy.

THE NEW CONTROLLER HAD TO BE SOLD AS JUNK, IT'S A WWS04-12-N00D From another maker possibly and is no good for adding to more solar and wind like the older HY WS12400L controller does. It fights all your other turbines and solar inputs. Toss it or sell it. Buy a rectifier as so many are telling to do on these now. Mine hit 219 degrees and thermal shut down and almost toasted the turbines. ### The MAKER of the new controller ( we call it a cooker) has asked I upload a video they can watch, hope Amazon lets them see it. Had to do all kinds of cutting and quality lowering to get it small enough to fit the limit here, Sorry!

I just ordered a new one from the dealer in Texas magnets for less. They are butt heads to say the least. Don't know the answers to your questions. Personalities of retired hookers and not really into the customer, just a reboxing outfit like another reviewer said. You can go onto madeinchina.com and find the HY400L 5 blade as a HYenergy for a lot less. Pay to get it from china directly or from Amazon. I would have bought mine that way but the tax rebate question I had had not been answered when I wanted to buy it before the end of this year so I spent the extra $120 to guarantee I get $280 of it back in rebates.

Those guys in Plano Texas are really not a choice to buy from, Kinda lazy bunch and they are not willing to do anything but put a shipping label on it and cash your check! The HYenergy product has been on the market for over 10 years and I seen them all over the pacific islands. They are decent quality.

If you can tolerate dealing with morons then go buy it from their site or look on madeinchina site and find the one you want and get it.

Update... 12/30/12 2 nd Generator is up and running on a 30 foot pole in Southern Idaho and has produced very good power from start. At this writing it has been 13 hours in over 25 mph winds, producing over 24 amps constant in the 3 incoming wires and very steady. Produced 2 amps in 6 mph, 7 amps in 10 mph, and 15 amps in 16 mph winds. Is not jumping around any and staying in the wind except in hard fast gust (35 mph) where it spins out of the wind a little.

UPDATE 2,for 2/28/13 First HY 400 L is running great and making good power in low wind, Just bought a second new one 2/28/13 this time from AMAZON and other than the box looking like hell the turbine is going up in a week. (we now have 3 total of these. A 3 blade that is 6 years old, and 2 of the newer 5 blade models) Really like them.

I tested it through a full discharge cycle and it performed as advertised in that respect. I chose this battery because it had a high quality spec with all sorts of details and curves describing it characteristics. This in spite of the fact that I remain unsure if the full pdf type specs really represent the the battery product. No one in the company was able to explain a couple of critical constants that were used without definition. Ultimately they just told me to go look it up at "Google". This was the only reason that I downgraded them from 5 stars. I will still use the specs for estimating how to charge and state of charge from voltage readings, etc. The spec suggest about 200 full charge discharge cycles can be expected with proper care.

I use this for my Nexus S, but it is compatible with anything that uses a micro USB port. You will be hard-pressed to find a charger that performs equally as well for this price. Here's why I like it:

-It's quick to charge. While my metrics are purely in my head, this seems to charge faster than others I've owned.

-The cord length is significant. I've never found myself wishing it were longer. I'd guess it to be about 4-5 ft.

-The cord is straight. The ones with a wound cord have always made me feel like I'm battling a very weak monkey for use of my phone.

-The retractable cord makes it easy to pack up. And -probably even more importantly -keeps the cord from becoming a tangled mess. When not in use, it helps to keep everything squared away.

Honestly, for $3, one should be happy enough with "works." But this is one of the best, quickest car chargers I've ever owned. I'm pleasantly surprised and have been using it for months without any problems.

I really like the compact design and the retractable aspect of the chord. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks of using the product, it stopped working. The unit still would light up and my phone acted as if it was charging, but the phone wasn't getting a charge. My friend gave me an old mini-USB car charger he didn't need and that one worked fine. I'm guessing I got a faulty unit which is unfortunate, because I did really like the product. For the price though, I'm not super disappointed.

Doesn't charge my phone very well; pretty much just holds the charge. The retractable cord is also about 4 inches too short for both my wife and I. It's difficult to talk on the phone while having it plugged in. I wouldn't recommend these but I'm also still using it and haven't bought a new one...so take that for what it's worth.

Yes, this charger fits the phone and works but sometimes it needs a little "encouraging" to snap in. Takes twice as long as the OEM car charger or about 90 to 120 minutes from dead to full charger. Thus, rapid is a misnomer.

I live outside of US in new zealand and this was the only charger case that was quite cheap and a reasonable delivery price as well. The listing says that it is a slim design but when I actually put in on my phone it literally doubles the thickness and makes it quite heavy like a brick. On the positive side one charge of the case and it gives a full and a half charge for my iphone 3gs! my battery only used to last around 8-9 hours if i used it averagly. With the case on it lasts me for a whole day and night without having to plug it in.

the listing itself is quite confusing though. im not sure why they mention blackberry in there when its obviously an iphone product.. other then that it was a good purchase and im quite happy with it

For $20, this EDUP streaming music device does a pretty good job. I'm using this to stream music from my iphone 5 to my car's stereo. My car has a 3.5mm auxilliary jack and I currently use a long cord to connect the phone to the stereo. It's cumbersome and the wire always gets in the way.

Here's what the EDUP does well: (1) Easy to pair with my iphone 5 (just push the button for about 7 seconds until the lights flash and it's done). (2) Easy to turn on (just hold the button for about 3 seconds until the light flashes and the audio indicator plays over the car's speakers to let you know it's on). (3) Easy to turn off (just push the button for about 5 seconds until the light flashes and the audio tone tells you it's off). (4) Sounds just as good as plugging my phone directly into the auxilliary audio port in my car. (5) Can play and charge at the same time via the 12V power outlet in my car -I leave it plugged in all the time. (6) Falls asleep to conserve power when not used for about 20 minutes. (7) When a call comes in, I am able to turn on my bluetooth earpiece and the audio switches from the EDUP to my earpiece appropriately. (8) Comes with a short male 3.5mm to male 3.5mm jack (shown in the picture), a male 3.5mm to male 3.5 cable in case the little jack won't physically fit in your car (I prefer the cable because the auxilliary port is in the bottom of the center console of my car, which is tough to reach with all my junk in there -the cable allows me to put the EDUP on top of the stuff in the center console which is easier to reach), and a short micro USB charging cable.

Here's what could be improved: (1) While the on/off function isn't horrible, it could be easier... maybe toggle between on/off without having to count 3 or 5 seconds depending on which operation you want (seems like the device could figure out that if "I'm currently on and the user is pressing the button, the user wants to me to turn off now")... maybe separate buttons... maybe move the light indicator so it isn't directly on the button (which ends up being under the finger that is pressing the buttons). (2) I'd love it if this would automatically wake up when I turn on the car... maybe it could recognize that power from the 12V outlet is off and go to sleep and then when the power is restored, it could wake up. I realize the EDUP also runs on battery power, so this may not be technically feasible given that it will "always" have some form of power. (3) When I hang-up the bluetooth earpiece after taking a call, it would be awesome if the EDUP would resume playing music. As it is now, the music pauses when I switch over to the earpiece and I have to actually press the "play" button on the phone to get the music to resume after I hang up the earpiece. I think this is probably a function of the phone, not the EDUP, though.

If the EDUP could do #1 on the things on the "to be improved" list, I would have given it 5 stars. If it could everything on my "to be improved" list, I would have given it 5 stars AND I would have been willing to pay an additional $10 or $20 for the device. Other than that, it's a great little device and does what I had hoped it would do.

UPDATED: I started to get really irritated with the "hold the button for 3 seconds to turn on and 5 seconds to turn off" functionality. It seems that I could never get the hang of what 3/5 seconds felt like and it constantly took me 2 or 3 tries to get this thing to turn on/off. I purchased a different bluetooth receiver that doesn't have a battery. With the new receiver, when there's power, it's on. When there's no power, it's off. No on/off switch to deal with. I use this in the Aux port on my Harley so that I don't have more wires strung to my phone for music. Works great, sounds great! Has a decent battery lifestarts beeping over the system when it's about to die. A little confusing to power up/pair/power off, but not too complex. Great especially for the price!

This was a surprisingly good product! I was originally going to buy the HTC version, but that was about $50 dollars. This "generic" version worked just as well. I charged it overnight, popped it into the aux jack in my car, and had my phone connect to it, and BAM. Quality music was able to play for about 6-8 hours straight. The device also turns off automatically once you leave the car for a short period of time. So if you take your phone with you the device is smart enough to just power off. My only gripe is that you have to turn it on every time you get in the car. No problem though, just a short 2 second press on the button. Flashing Blue light means streaming. Flashing Red/Blue light means pairing mode.

Received the item very quickly in the mail (as the seller I had bought from promised)... Used it for 4-1/2 hours straight with no charge and the quality was superb!... I bought this to use with my Sony SRS-P7 passive speakers while in my house and i had ordered one of those Eco Extreme Waterproof Speaker Cases (from Grace Digital) to become my designated outdoor speaker (that i can't wait to get and try out, especially for the beach / river)... Felt I needed to go the Bluetooth route... because, most people that come over are very hesitant about hooking up there smartphones directly to capable audio players / speakers via the aux (3.5mm) input, unlike mp3 players... because trying to separate people from their phones is almost the equivalence of taking somebody off of life support or so it seems... but with this little devices Bluetooth receiver function, all of that becomes remedied!... since anyone can pair up their smartphone and take their hand at playing the DJ (even though everyone I know pretty much listens to internet radio exclusively)... since internet radio is definitely the preferred listening paradigm over anyone's "personal" mp3 player...

All in all, I think this is a sweet device and works just as good as the Miccus Blubridge $40 dollar version (which might just come with a cable or two extra)... which I saw youtube videos on both products and both seemed the same quality wise... but still, I just have to highly recommend that anyone who is looking for a reliable, wireless, and qualified solution (that's much better than any fm transmitter, if your attempting a wireless solution)... to stop, look no further and then order one of these guys!... I used this charger for a week with no problems. The cord was a little short but it functioned great. After a week, it stopped working. I tried my GPS charger and it didn't work in the 12v outlet either. I don't know if its a coincidence, but it seems like this device could have been responsible for blowing a fuse.

First of all, I bought this charger for my HTC Sensation, so my experience might be a little different as this product is technically designed for the Droid X (although it will work with any MicroUSB device).

The charger works as expected and seems to have solid build quality so far. The coiled wire is actually pretty nice to keep the wires in check and the form factor small.

The only downside is that this charger was a low power output, so it doesn't charge devices all that fast. This is could be because my HTC Sensation needs more power to charge, but I also think it is just a low power device.
