This very inexpensive portable car charger is a real boost to families who need to charge phones or iPads etc while on the road. This slick little charger plugs into your car port and has two USB ports for charging two devices at the same time (and equally well! because the design provides 2.1 amps 1 amp per port). The electronic design has circuitry that prevents over heating, over current and over charging: once a device is fully charged the process stops automatically. And as with many other ETRONIC devices there is an LED light that assures you the charger and the devices being charged are correctly placed and ready to charge.

No more hauling our devices into the coffee shop or restaurant and asking for a table near an outlet. The upkeep and charging of the specified devices is all fulfilled by the little device in your car iPad, iPhone, iPod, HTC, Blackberry, MP3 Players, Digital Cameras, PDAs, Mobile Phones.

The packaging is well designed and can be used to store the device when not in use (in the glove compartment or seat divider), the instructions are clear, and just to reassure you that you have made a sound purchase, ETRONIC backs its product with a 1 year warranty. Another very fine product from ETRONIC. Grady Harp, October 13

The Etronic 2.1A / 12 two-port USB auto charger is an affordable option in a crowded market for keeping your mobile devices charged while on the road.

I concurrently charged both an Android phone (HTC EVO 4G LTE) and and Apple iPod (5th generation) while this was plugged into my car's DC power supply.

LED lights show power availability.

Current single-digit dollar pricing makes this a very affordable solution as the your burden of power-hungry mobile devices increases!

Worked well; select with confidence.

Note: This item was provided for review purposes.

Best Deals for Etronic 2.1Amps / 12W Dual USB Car charger Designed for Apple

The Etronic Dual USB Car Charger fits snugly into our Malibu's cigarette lighter socket. It measures approximately 2 3/4" long & doesn't protrude as far into the console as some USB car chargers. If you don't have too much room in that area, this car charger should work for you.

This charger has 2 labeled USB ports (1A & 2.1A); however, it has a total output of 2.1 amps so if you're using the 2.1A port for your iPad or power hungry tablet & the 1A for your phone, mp3 player, etc, your iPad will charge slower than it would if it was the only device charging. That being said, you can still charge two devices at once...it's just that charging might be slower.

This charger has very important circuit protection: over-heated, over-current, & over-charging protection. Charging will be automatically stop when battery is full.

I charged my old LG Cosmos prepaid phone & my Kindle Fire HD at the same time with no problems.

The ports are labeled, but the labels are hard to see. Just remember that the 2.1A port is on the bottom of the charger.

Nice charger which performs as advertised.

5 stars

If my opinion changes, I'll update my review.

I was provided a sample for an honest review.

Honest reviews on Etronic 2.1Amps / 12W Dual USB Car charger Designed for Apple

I've tried a number of different car chargers. Some last, some don't. Some are really bulky, others are flimsy. This is a solidly built, two USB port charger. When plugged in securely, it illuminates in the middle with a gentle blue LED. I've been using it for a few weeks now for a hands free headset and my cell phone with no trouble at all.

It stays put and doesn't pop out too easily but will pull out when given the right amount of effort.

It has a sleek, smooth, white finish and is small enough to keep in a car pocket, glove compartment or center console.

Overall, a good product at a nice price. I was provided a unit for evaluation and an honest review.

Please view my video for further information.

Background:

I have purchased a lot of car chargers in the past. One of the biggest issues I had is that after a week or so, the ports would become really loose and your devices would only charge if you got the adapter in the perfect position. Just from opening the package and holding this adapter, I can tell that it is much better quality than ones I have used in the past.

There are a lot of car chargers out there, but what makes this one worth buying?:

Pros:

1) There are 2 USB ports

2) Of the two ports, one is 2.1amps, one is 1amp. That means you can charge BOTH an iPad/tablet AND a phone at the same time

3) Mat grey finish is applied where cables are unplugged a lot to keep from scratching. (yes this is just a cosmetic feature, but it makes everyone feel better when there electronics don't get scratched!)

4) EXTREMELY SMALL

Cons:

1) No replaceable fuse

This car charger simply does what it states. It will charge any device through USB while your 12V plug on your car is on. It provides users with the ability to use GPS aps in their car without completely draining there battery when they get to their destination

What would make this product better?

The only thing I would change is that I would like a switch on the side of each USB port that allowed you to change the power output. The reason is that it would be nice to be able to charge 2 iPads/tablets at once or 2 phones at once. YES you can charge your phone with a 2.1 amp output, but I'm not sure that it's too good for your battery.

Would you buy it for a friend/recommend it?

WITHOUT A DOUBT!! At the price point, one cannot go wrong buying this product.

This battery was purchased as a total replacement battery pack in a Wildgame Innovations (WGI) 1.3 MP strobe Game Camera under the Timberview brand name. See my review of that camera. This game cam used 4 "C" cell batteries. At best the batteries would last 6 weeks. After buying several packages of "C" cells, it was time to trim our battery cost.

The battery was quite a bit smaller than I expected. Out-of-the-box, this battery was charged (6.34 volts), but we topped it off before the battery was placed into service (7.30 volts). Furthermore, given the reserve capacity rating of this battery in comparison to the reserve capacity of an Alkaline "C" cell battery, we should get far more use time out of this battery. How much more? That can only be evaluated at a later date. As a side note -WGI newest deer cam models have the capability of connecting a 6 volt battery pack, such as Amazons Wild Game Innovations External 6V Battery Pack. WGI uses a pair of batteries of comparable specifications to the UPG UB645 inside their battery pack.

I will update this posting as we monitor this battery's performance in the field. Preliminarily (2 days use), this battery is performing as expected.

The application this battery is now being used in, the size, being completely sealed from the elements and the current price, we are hard pressed to find fault with this purchase.

*****

9/2/2010 Update

First field test with the deer cam over a 19 day time period in the woods and in wet conditions -237 pictures with approximately 85% being flash pictures. ALL flash pictures came out clear, no black pictures when the camera triggered and the battery couldn't supply enough power to charge the flash strobe. Voltage test in the field -5.99 volts under a minor load. We recharged the battery to 6.67 volts and placed this battery back into service with the deer cam in the woods. We are very pleased with this battery's performance.

*****

9/29/2010 Update

28 days and 330 pictures (85% flash) in the field -The camera was shut off when we retrieved it. The last 24 pictures were black, where the flash couldn't recharge due to the drop in battery voltage. The battery was drained down to 3.57 volts when it was brought back for recharging. After a slow 12 hour recharge, the battery was back up to 6.67 volts.

I cannot fault this battery. The drain came from the camera and the flash itself. Performance between "C" cell batteries and this one appear to be closely related with one major exception the ability to recharge this battery, unlike the "C" cells that have to be replaced. We are going to monitor and recharge this battery more closely in the future. I'm disappointed in the prospect that this battery doesn't have the long term capacity to supply power to this deer camera over the long, cold Michigan winter.

*****

10/05/2010 Update

We returned to this battery after 5 more days in the field. 150 pictures and all were perfect. The battery voltage was at 6.20 volts (80% flash pictures). Pulled the battery and recharged to 6.67 volts. One night, with overnight temperatures dropping to 22 degrees, we captured 250 flash pictures all clear in full color. The battery voltage was at 6.0 volts. We recharged the battery and placed back into service.

We have now obtained a 9 volt solar panel charger for this battery. Our next trip up, this solar panel will be connected to our battery and camera. We anticipate this will give the battery a much needed boost in life over its long winter task.

In all, this battery performed as we expected. The cost savings in "C" cell battery's has now more than paid for itself.

*****

1/11/2011 -Second battery

We have a second deer cam Wildgame Innovations IR5 5.0MP Digital Game Scouting Camera with Infrared Flash(see my review of this game cam) in the field now. It too is developing battery issues, especially with the flash at night. The batteries are "C" cell's and we are going through too many to be economically viable. So, just like its smaller cousin, we are hard wiring in this battery for increased performance and longevity in the field.

Buying a second similar battery for the very same purpose shows how happy we are with these batteries. The cost savings is also a big plus!

*****

7/2/2011 Third battery and Update

We purchased our third deer cam along with a third battery. The new camera is a 2011 S1.3X strobe deer camera with an external battery connection as sold by Amazon as Wildgame Innovations Game Scouting Camera with Video. Our first run with this new camera required the need for a higher power battery. Here it is.

All three batteries work great. All recharge fine and hold their charge for extended use. Even after hundreds of flash pictures every 30 seconds, all pictures come out. We couldn't be more pleased with these batteries performance.

*****

6/8/2012 Update

11 more months have passed since my last update. Two harsh winter's and two hot summers, rain and snow, weeks of total discharge sitting waiting for a recharge are just some of the conditions we require these batteries to perform in. All three batteries are still in service. All three batteries take and hold their charge. Battery efficiency drops significantly in real cold weather, but when recharged, they bounce right back to their prior operating condition.

The oldest of the three batteries (made in 4/2010) has been rotated to the most power efficient camera with infrared flash. Even doing this, we are still netting over 300 pictures per charge with most being nighttime pictures using the flash. Voltage remains well within operational limits of the camera of more than 5.5 volts.

These batteries have performed better than we expected. How long will they last? We will find out, but it may be some time into the future.

*****

6/27/2013

Another year has passed with these batteries. We are now down to two strobe flash camera's using this battery. We rotate the third out as a spare battery, so only two are being used at any one time.

All three batteries are performing very well. Even sitting discharged the past cold winter in NW Michigan, they recharged just fine. Two are working as I write this, snapping deer pictures in the woods.

Almost 3 years of continuous use, months of total discharge in sub-zero temps and they come back to life each time they are recharged. I am truly amazed that they continue to perform as well as they have. If you need a 6 volt battery like this, don't hesitate. They work!

I purchased this battery as a replacement for a Peg Perego Thomas the Train Ride along Engine. Merely take the green top off the old battery, slap the green top on this new battery and you are good to go. Peg Perego batteries are around 4 times the price. Save yourself some $ and get a generic battery that operates at the same efficiency.

I bought an emergency power fail light at a big box store several years ago. Recently it quit working and I traced the problem to the battery. It was a small 6V lead acid, so instead of spending $30 for a new light I bought this battery for $10 from Amazon. With the points from my Amazon Visa card it was free! The new one fit perfectly and the light works again. My home will have light when the power fails thanks to Amazon!

I like this Solar Charge controller. The documentation that comes with it, however is terrible. The functions described of the LED indicators do not match the actual functions. And there is a reset button that is not even mention.

The controller itself seems to be operating as I would expect.

The user guide is worthless the unit is great. You must figure out how to operate the darn thing by yourself. Press and hold the test button until some light or lights come on on the left of the charger telling you the state of the batteries. Once running it will tell you if it is in the charge mode completely by showing the green lightening bolt. The unit works perfectly. If however you are trying to supply power besides charging the battery you will need a grid tie inverter along side.

These radios have excellent range, good battery life and included the charger. I paid over TWICE as much for just the radios themselves WITHOUT batteries or the charger at a retail store one year ago.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought these radios intending to use them only occasionally and in an urban setting. Here is how it went:

The units themselves are very nice looking and have many useful features such as voice activated transmission, a backlit display and roger beep tone. You get 8 rechargeable batteries and swivel-belt clips along with the radios themselves and the dual desk-top charger. The range is about 2 miles although the manufacturer claims 5 miles. But most companies make these claims based on the range you might get under absolutely perfect conditions.

I was very happy with these radios but after only 2 months of very light use one of the radios failed. One of the radios is stuck in "busy" mode and thus it is basically useless (these units are manufactured in China).

My experience with Audiovox in the past has been good so I thought I was just unlucky so I went ahead and bought the "Audiovox GMRS6000-2PK 6-Mile GMRS 2-Way Radio Twin Pack with Bonus Package" which I have also reviewed so head over to that review to read the conclusion of my ordeal.

Uhg! What junk! When I was a kid 40 years ago, the walkie-talkies we played with were better than this junk. My son got this as a gift from the g-parents if I recall right, some 4 years ago. The charger is poor to say the least, and the unit is very difficult for a kid to understand how to use it properly. When you can get it to charge, it always takes awhile to figure the thing out again. Do not buy this junk.

I tested it through a full discharge cycle and it performed as advertised in that respect. I chose this battery because it had a high quality spec with all sorts of details and curves describing it characteristics. This in spite of the fact that I remain unsure if the full pdf type specs really represent the the battery product. No one in the company was able to explain a couple of critical constants that were used without definition. Ultimately they just told me to go look it up at "Google". This was the only reason that I downgraded them from 5 stars. I will still use the specs for estimating how to charge and state of charge from voltage readings, etc. The spec suggest about 200 full charge discharge cycles can be expected with proper care.

This wizard works great and is absolutely easy to install provided you know how to use a small screwdriver and plug it in.

I love how it conditions my RV batteries and will help extend their live. I couldn't be happier with this product and my only complaint is that it should have been stock with my RV charger ;-)

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Great product . . .does exactly what it says it will do. Saved the cost of purchasing a new (and more advanced) charger/converter. For the price, I can't understand why Progressive Dynamics does not just build it into their 9100 series chargres/converters. EASY to install . . . just remove 1 screw, plug it in, and replace the screw.

Best Deals for Progressive Dynamics PD9105V Lead Acid Battery Charge Wizard

Like so many others, our 2004 motorhome came equipped with the "dumb" (set voltage) charging program built into their standard converter, which provides 12-volt DC current to the coach when plugged into shore power as well as charging for the house battery bank.

When I had to replace the house batteries recently I decided to go for Trojan T-105's, and wanted to provide a better charging profile to help them work better and last longer. Our camping experience to-date had not supported a need for an inverter (which typically come with an advanced multi-stage charging program), so I was curious about an alternative to just buying a new "smart" charger.

Progressive Dynamics offers this line of "Wizard" plug-ins as an after-market application to enhance the charging capability of their popular converters (why, for such a relatively small expense they don't just make it part of the OEM package, I have no idea...I guess the RV builders just prefer to trim the few extra bucks from their building costs). Plugging it into a port in the converter changes it from a single stage charger to a three stage, with a "float" mode and a "boost" and "desulfation" mode (the last kicks in for 15 minutes every 21 hours).

The charging profile does not exactly match Trojan's recommendations, but it's a lot closer than the stock converter. Hook-up is plug-and-play, but the plug is fairly large, so, like in my case, because I wanted to mount the Wizard inside the coach, I had to cut the plug off and then splice it back on to prevent having to drill overly large holes in my cabinetry (and the cord is only about 36" long). But with the device inside, I can monitor the tell-tale diode that blinks at different rates to let you know which mode the charger is using, and if I feel I need to manually change to a different charge rate, I can do that with the button on the face of the Wizard.

Again, not perfect, but a pretty convenient (albeit compromise) solution for a little bit of cost.

As a footnote, over the winter I left the motorhome at a campsite in Florida, where it sat plugged in but unattended for a couple of periods of 3 and 4 weeks at a stretch, and when I got back the batteries were fully charged and had not lost a measurable amount of water. That's not too bad, in my opinion.

Honest reviews on Progressive Dynamics PD9105V Lead Acid Battery Charge Wizard

This may seem to be an item you can live without but I think it is very useful. The ability to see the charging status is a nice feature. For the cost it exceeds my expectations.

I bought the 2-way radio for our cruise we took. I bought it after reading about similar cobra products and liked the fact that batteries were rechargeable. After the initial charge the 2-way radio worked fine. We could communicate on the ship with each other to find where the other was, the voice was clear and crisp. One draw back was not having sub-channels on this product, as a result we could hear other conversations from other users. Even though the feature lists 16 mile range, I would say the maximum range was about 1 to 1.5 miles on an island without any major obstacles. The initial charge lasted a while but when the initial charge was gone, one of the radios would not recharge again and after a while the other failed to recharge. I tried charging for over 2 days but still no luck. I don't know where the failure was, whether it was the charger or the batteries themselves. I really like these radios but were useless without recharge so I ended up in returning to Amazon.

I bought this set of two walkies at Walmart for $24 and was attracted to the small size, simple design, and rechargeable batteries. I had intended to give them to my kids so when they hike about on our 25 acres of upstate forest, I can keep in touch with them. 16 miles under ideal conditions and 1 mile in the city according to the back panel. From the front lawn of our suburban home, without more than a few trees blocking, the signal faded after 1500 feet. By a mile, mostly static and largely inaudible. I would suggest that at $24, they are a great toy and within 1000ft, certainly as clear as a bell. Don't rely on them for anything over a mile especially if staying in contact is critical.

I leave the display turned on for days at a time and the volume all the way up (to achieve a better signal-to-noise ratio, I think) and the battery remains topped off. The charger seems to be constructed in a quality manner, the adapter tip works perfectly with the J3, and the green LED is not too dim and not too bright. Used this to connect the high-pressure receptacle on my pop-up camper to my Coleman LXE Grill. This is the type of grill that normally uses the small 1 lb propane canisters. Essentially it runs from the camper to the regulator on the grill. Good flame adjustment and easy to light once the line pressurizes (might take a few seconds for the gas to actually reach the burners when first hooking it up).

Works as expected. Might get a slightly longer hose if/when I need to replace this one.

Works as advertised. Easy to use with a bright red light showing when you have power and the plug fits the phone very well. The item was sent in a timely manner and there were no surprises. I have bought from this company before and will again. Can't beat the price!

I needed a new cell phone charger with my new cell phone and wasnt about to pay what the retail stores were charging...ridiculous! This is the best deal (even with shipping & handling).
