I liked the size, weight and design of this light. The quality did seem a little cheap for Snap-On...made in China (what isn't anymore). I didn't like how directional the light was. You have to really aim it as what you want to see. It doesn't light up an area like my other fluorescent light did. I had it for a little more than a year of occasional use before it stopped working. One day it just wouldn't turn on. I tried charging it numerous times to no avail.

I bought one of these lights from Pep Boys, got it home, charged it, and...it didnt work!! I returned it, and the person that handled my return said they have alot of issues with these particular lights. I really liked the design, and how it was so light weight. So i searched on amazon, found this Snap On light and ordered it...i have had it for a week so far, this one held a charge fine. I guess maybe there is a bad batch out there. Anyway, i love this light...so its worth taking the gamble.

Anyone who is familiar with the Snap-on name knows that their hand tools can't be beat. Unfortunately, this light is merely trading off the goodwill that Snap-on has built up and does not offer the performance you might expect from the brand.

As others have noted, the light is highly directional, which is neither here nor there in terms of quality but which DOES reflect on how little light this puts out. Even with all the LEDs putting out light in the same direction, it is still not a bright light.

Also, the battery in this light is really poor. LEDs require a decent power source, so this light works as well as it can for a relatively short period of time before the battery voltage drops and the LEDs become worthlessly dim.

It is well built on the outside, but the insides are pathetic. Weak LEDs driven by a weak battery.

I would not recommend this product at half the price.

CTEK US 800 12V Smart Battery Charger Review

I have one of each of these battery maintainers. Both of these can be connected to a battery indefinitely without boiling it dry. Both come with a set of battery clips and a set of fuse-protected ring terminals for permanent installation. Both have reverse polarity protection(hook them up to the wrong terminals, and nothing happens). The Ctek has a power cord; the BatteryMINDer 12117 plugs directly into a socket. The BatteryMINDer has a button that allows you to select maintenance mode; the Ctek has no buttons.

Some reviewers say the Ctek gets very hot; it does. The BatteryMINDer gets equally hot, and is always hot when plugged in, whether it is in the charging phase or maintenance phase. When the Ctek is in maintenance phase, it is only warm.

The BatteryMINDer 12117 manual states that it desulphates in all modes. One reviewer stated the Ctek also continually desulphates, but the Ctek manual mentions desulphation only in the first stage of battery charging. It could be continuous, but an oscilloscope would be necessary to test that, and I do not have one.

The BatteryMINDer 12117 charges a battery to about 14.1 volts; the Ctek, 14.4. After the initial charge, both go into maintenance mode. The BatteryMINDer allows the battery to drop to 13.4 volts and then keeps it there exactly. The Ctek allows the voltage to drop to about 12.95 volts, gives it a pulse up to 13.05 volts, lets it drop to 12.95 volts, gives it a pulse up to 13.05 volts, etc. If the battery being charged by the BatteryMINDer does not get up to 14.1 volts, it will not switch into maintenance mode. If it does not switch within three days, the instructions state you should manually select that with the button. The Ctek will automatically go into maintenance mode after 18 hours, if the battery has not already reached 14.4 volts and changed over.

The BatteryMINDer maintainer will eventually drain your battery(in about a week) if it is connected and the power goes off or it is accidentally unplugged, etc. The Ctek draws less than 1mA(an insignificant amount)in this scenario.

The Ctek unit is weatherproof with very weatherproof, molded-on connectors. Because the connectors are unique and no extension is available, the only way to increase the distance between the main unit and the battery you are charging is to cut the wire and splice in more. This can be avoided by mounting the charger in a vehicle's engine compartment and using an extension cord, but my engine compartment is so crowded I chose not to do this.

The BatteryMINDer is not weatherproof(they offer a more expensive unitBatteryMINDer 12 Volt OnBoard Battery Restorer/Conditioner Model# OBD-12 that is weatherproof). The connectors are molded-on and weatherproof, but they do not seal out the elements as well as the Ctek ones. BatteryMINDer also does not offer an extension, but I purchased a BatteryTender extensionBattery Tender 081-0148-25 25' Quick Disconnect Extension Cable that works perfectly.

The Ctek will push a maximum of 0.8A at 12 volts, while the BatteryMINDer is 1A at 12 volts(1.3A is what it delivers when a battery is at about 10.5 volts), making the BatteryMINDer a little faster.

At the time I am writing this, the BatteryMINDer is about $8.50 more than the Ctek.

I have given both of these five stars, and I have no preference between the two.

The charger should work with nearly all 12V lead-acid batteries: MF, Wet, AGM, open and most GEL-batteries.

What you get for your money is:

the charger body (see dimensions above) with the AC cord permanently attached to it

set of battery cables with battery terminal clips

set of battery cables with eyelet terminals

a nice, velcro-sealed nylon black pouch with a transparent pocket for the manual

a very well written manual

According to the manual, the charger should be maintenance free and it's covered by a 5-year limited warranty (void if you abuse it or try to fix it yourself after it breaks) and you get CTEK's exact address, Web site and FAX number but no 'voice' number.

I am very happy with this device because it charged our little tractor's battery in no time overnight, actually following a very long winter that had the battery totally drained. The charger operates in 4 main phases:

desulphation takes care of sulphated batteries

bulk charges up to 80%, delivers constant current until the terminal voltage reaches the set level

absorbtion completes to near-100%

maintenance battery is monitored and it receives a pulse when the voltage drops (can keep it connected indefinitely)

Feedback is provided by the charge indicator, when it's in one of the first 3 phases and the maintenance charge indicator showing that you are now in 'maintenance' mode. And, very nicely, there is an alarm light which lights up whenever your battery is connected to reverse polarity.

As far as charging times, according to the manual it varies with the size of the battery, from 1.5 hours on a 2Ah, to 6 hours on an 8Ah, 20 hours on a 20Ah and 36 hours on a 36Ah battery. Like I said, ours was done overnight.

My impression so far is of a well built, complete battery charging set that's easy to use and comes with a well-written manual that can make even non-professionals like me look like 'experts'.

I bought this after reading about it on the Ferrari forums. This is the same maintainer Ferrari provides with a new car, only without the Ferrari logo. It is compact and fits nicely in the supplied carrying pouch. I use it on my Alfa Romeo which is not driven very often. I was tired of a dead battery from the car sitting for a few months at at time. I keep the car plugged in all the time when I am not driving it. It s easy to unplug right before I drive the car and I just plug it in after I am done driving. No more dead battery. works fine for my Tomtom. However, the actual part that plugs into the cigarette lighter could be more tight. It is a little wiggly and the GPS shifts in sharp turns. Also, would be nice if the arm that holds the GPS would be longer or extendable. Unfortunately it is so short, that it interferes with the shift stick. When putting the car from D to P I need to move the GPS a bit because its in the way. Other than that I prefer it to the suction cup holder on the window.

I use this for my Nexus S, but it is compatible with anything that uses a micro USB port. You will be hard-pressed to find a charger that performs equally as well for this price. Here's why I like it:

-It's quick to charge. While my metrics are purely in my head, this seems to charge faster than others I've owned.

-The cord length is significant. I've never found myself wishing it were longer. I'd guess it to be about 4-5 ft.

-The cord is straight. The ones with a wound cord have always made me feel like I'm battling a very weak monkey for use of my phone.

-The retractable cord makes it easy to pack up. And -probably even more importantly -keeps the cord from becoming a tangled mess. When not in use, it helps to keep everything squared away.

Does exactly what you need charges the iPOD. Its cheaper than Apple version. It solidly built seems to me to be the same thing. We have three iPODs from 3 generations and it worked on 4-6th with no problem. Kids threw it in the travel bag with other accessories and its worked unscathed since.

This little neat tool lives in my battery tender pouch, and I use it for keeping the odometer and radio stations and clock when changing batteries. I live in AZ so with 4 cars it seems like I'm always changing batteries. On most cars you have to turn to accessories, 1st click, plug this in, and then change the battery. Great quality as all the other battery Tender products. I can highly recommend all the models. My favorite is the water proof 800ma...that thing is indestructible! I've accidentally run it over with my truck, no damage! Also, get a 6 or 12' extension, they are cheap and SO handy! Some people don't seem to understand that not all outlets in your car are "on" when the car is turned "off". This will only work if your outlet stays on when the key is turned off and removed, or if you leave the key in and the switch to the on position. To check this just plug something into you outlet, and take the key out of the ignition. If it continues to draw power you're good to go and you can plug this in and not worry about it. If the outlet shuts off you need to leave the key in the on position for this to work and that may not be preferable depending on where your vehicle is and if it is secured in a garage or sitting in a drive way where someone could jump in, turn the key, and drive off.

If your car doesn't have powered outlets when the key is removed it is not the fault of this product that it isn't working when you take your keys out.

We use this to charge my car while I'm away and it is very easy. Unfortunately they battery terminals aren't compatible with the type that connects there but this lets my wife plug this in and not have to worry about anything. My Camaro outlets are on all the time, whether the keys are in the ignition or not though.

(I don't have any stock in Deltran or this product, I just don't like silly complaints by people that don't know what they are really complaining about.)

After making a few calls from the parked position, i took my first road trip. With the windows up, I could easily carry on a conversation at highway speeds.

Next up, I paired an Apple iPhone 4 Black Smartphone 32GB (AT&T).

The speaker phone did much better than the built-in hands-free on both phones. My callers reported that my voice quality was clear, free of echoes and not much background noise. On my end, the voices came through clear and loud. Most voice commands were received correctly by both phones. I had somebody call me from the car and their voice quality was very good and understandable.

This speaker phone can pair with up to 6 devices and use 2 at the same time. In theory, you can take calls from 2 cell phones at the same time. I never tried this but I'll update the review if I ever do.

Compared to a Bluetooth headset, this is in a different league. With 45 hours of talk time and 6 months of stand-by, I haven't turned mine off. I've only recharged it once this month more out of habit than necessity.

The voice prompts make this device very intuitive. I'm impressed with the overall quality and simplicity of this speaker phone.

In my state, NJ, this would qualify as a hands-free device and would be legal to make and receive calls on while driving. IMHO

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Motorola TX500 is my second bluetooth hands free device from Motorola. Since I really liked the Motorola Roadster Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone (Retail Packaging), I would like to compare the TX500 with it. Basically the Motorola TX500 is a simplified version of the Roadster. All the bells and whistles that the Roadster had were removed. The TX500 focuses only on the basic features. Taking calls and making calls. The voice guide (or voice prompts) feature that the Motorola bluetooth hands free devices commonly has works very well and thanks to this, pairing of the phones to the device could not be simpler. You can turn off the voice guide by pressing and holding the volume button until you hear saying 'voice intructions off', if you do not like it. I connected two phones to the TX500 and had no problem to pair those (a Verizon Fascinate and a Verizon basic feature Samsung phone).

The best parts of the TX500 are good voice quality and strong battery life. The call quality was very good and the TX500 lasted 2 weeks without any problem. For your information, I did not make many calls while I am driving, though. I charged my Roadster once a week, so the TX500 lasted twice much with a single charge.

The things that I do not like of the TX500 are that all the features that I loved so much from the Roadster were gone. The TX500 does not deliver the music from your phone. And the TX500 is not capable of working as an FM transmitter that I liked the most from the Roadster. The Roadster sends every music and sound from your phone to the FM radio in your car flawlessly and I have been so happy with this feature since my car does not have any auxillary input for the audio. And the TX500 cannot sense the vibration of your car. What this means is that you should manually turn on the TX500 every time you hop on your car. The Roadster automatically detects the motion of your car and turns itself on whenever you get on the car. This was one of the best feature I have ever seen from any bluetooth device for a vehicle.

Therefore, if you need a bluetooth hands free device with solid basic features such as good voice quality and long battery life, the TX500 is for you. However, if you need a motion-sensing bluetooth device with an FM transmitter built in, go for the Motorola Roadster.

The slightly mechanical female voice could talk even a five year old through the very simple pairing process. Calling on the device is simple as all get out and in my car, which is not a jeep or convertible, I have no problem understanding and being understood by the party I'm talking too.

I do have an earpiece that I used to use, but my significant other is often with me when I'm driving and is always, always, interrupting, wanting to be part of the conversation, now it's like the other party is in the car with us. Five big stars from me for Motorola.

I use an iPhone 4 and have been wanting a hands-free solution while driving my older 1999 Windstar van without spending $$$ to install a system. I've tried BlueTooth ear pieces and headsets before, but sound quality has been horrendous as is battery life. I saw this Motorola and hoped it would work, and and happy to report that you need to buy one of these ASAP. The sound quality is VERY good for a small device, I have no trouble hearing it at all with the A/C cranked (and believe me, we do a lot of that in Phoenix, already had a 100 degree day in March). But even more of a surprise, the sound quality to the person you are talking to is better than I had hoped. My wife is picky about that, because in the past with other BT devices we've dealt with tinny sound, echo, white noise, you name it. But she says this sounds VERY good and I trust that opinion. I called my work voicemail and left a message to hear what it sounded like, and was equally happy. Understand that a speakerphone sounds like a speakerphone, but there are some that sound good for what they are, and Motorola got it right with this device.

Two other big plusses: one is the huge amount of talk time, which I hope lasts a while as batteries do wear down. I'll post back later about that. But the other neat feature is the voice instructions when turning it on: it tells you exactly when to hit the button and connect and how much battery life you have left, same way a GPS device talks to you. Pairing this device is a breeze, and every time I turn it on it instantly connects. Nice!

I have found my hands-free solution, and it will work in any car I drive, even rentals when travelling on business. It'll pair with more than one phone so several family members can use it in the family car. I think it's a no-brainer to say "highly recommended"!

I've been using this thing every day and it has been absolutely flawless. It pairs almost instantly, and the sound quality continues to marvel, especially to the person on the other end. All I have to do is turn on Bluetooth on my iPhone 4 when I hop in the van (I don't leave BT on 24/7, just wastes battery life), and then I turn on this X500 and in seconds the female voice says connected and reports the battery life (Low, Medium, or High). I've charged it ONCE the day I reviewed it and it's still going, battery level "High". Great device.

You can use the Motorola TX500 straight out of the box since it is delivered at medium battery level. When you turn it on for the first time, you are directed to go to the bluetooth setting on your phone. It works with any bluetooth enabled cell phone. A pin number is provided, if needed. A female voice walks you through the connection process and although the voice is a little mechanical, it's easy to understand and speaks English only. I paired it with an iPhone4 (all you have to do is turn bluetooth on and the iPhone and Motorola TX500 make the connections for you) and Blackberry Bold without issue. There is an audible battery status given and a light on the side provides constant battery usage with red meaning low, purple/medium and blue/high.

It clips securely onto your visor and once fully charged, you can remove the cord for a sleeker look. There are four large buttons on the front, mute button, volume down, volume up and the call button. The call button answers calls, places calls (you will be prompted once pressed calls are voice activated), places calls on hold to answer another incoming call, and ends calls. Also, it allows you to take calls from 2 cell phones at the same time and most importantly, it can store up to 6 cell phone connections. This is a great feature for families. It refers to the phones by number, in the order paired to this device.

I spend a lot of time running errands and I love being able to use my cell phone while driving with minimum effort and without worry. I just need to remember to turn the bluetooth off when I'm home since Motorola TX500's range can interfere with calls inside the home. Two clicks and problem solved. I really love how customer service is provided by telephone (1-800-331-6456) and through their website. Too many companies have stopped provided telephone support and I value those who still offer this option since sometimes, speaking to a live person is the best option.
