I have had two PS-30 controlers with the display in my cabin for over 4 years now and never had any problems. I can't say if these are any better than other makes but they are still performing perfectly. The termination screws are easy to use, I liked the look and price of these. I noticed that the price hasn't come down any in 4 years you can decide of that is a good or bad thing.

WE HAVE HAD EXTREMELY GOOD LUCK USING THE MORNINGSTAR SOLAR CONTROLLERS. THEY ARE EASY TO USE AND HOLD UP IN THE HARSH CONDITIONS THAT WE USE THEM IN.

Best Deals for Morningstar ProStar 30 Charge Controller with Meter

I have had the Morningstar ProStar 30 operating in an off grid situation for 3 years now with zero problems. What I like most about it is that it constantly scrolls through three numbers amps coming in from your panels, amps going out for your power usage, and the voltage of the battery. In addition there is a red, yellow and green LED to indicate the overall state of charge of your battery.

Since a lot of people don't know how to use solar power til they get used to it, the ProStar 30 also has a Low Voltage Disconnect. If the LED goes red, it means the battery is low. If it flashes red it means the battery is very very low and you should reduce or cut off your power usage to let it recover, and if that is unheeded the meter shows LVD and it shuts off the power connection for you. This way your batteries can't be fully discharged and damaged. Pretty much idiot proof protection.

One great feature is the ability to press the button on the front of the panel and temporarily disconnect the solar panels to show you the resting battery voltage without any power coming in. Or you can press it again to disconnect your power output to allow the fastest recharge of your batteries with zero draw on them. One more time disconnects both the panels and power output.

This unit doesn't just control your battery charge rate, it gives you enough info to learn how to MANAGE your solar power usage and batteries, and that's pretty critical for long term functionality when living off the grid.

I was hesitant to order this charger at such a cheap price, but I have had it for almost a year, and it works great when I am in the car. The retractable cord hasn't gotten tangled once, and it seems to charge my phone really quickly. I have since upgraded from the Aria to another phone with a Micro USB slot, and the charger works on that too. Pleasantly surprised!

Preliminary review: I ordered two of these chargers (they're so inexpensive and I knew they wouldn't last forever). I've used the first charger for two months. Yesterday my phone died and I noticed the charger wasn't working. OK, I can understand that. But I left the charger plugged in and periodically kept trying to see if it would work, hoping it was just a loose connection. Later in the day a smell of burning plastic was noticed coming from the charger. I unplugged the charger at that time. There's no obvious damage on the outside of the charger but I worry about a potential fire hazard. I'll use the second charger starting today and I hope the same problem doesn't happen again. It's one thing to stop working; another to start to burn...

I purchased this fast dual car charger because of the speed. The previous charger I had was too slow for my liking. The price was right and I have been very satisfied with the speed and the versatility of the charger; I can charge both my iPhone and my iPad at the same time. I liked the idea that it's smaller than most of the other chargers I was looking into which makes it very convenient to use since I can pop it right into my pocket or purse to use in any other car I might find myself. I use an iPhone, but I see that it is usable with Androids as well which really means that practically anyone can use this handy gadget.

You go walking into your local HF store and you will find the Thunderbolt Magnum charge controller going for $79.00. To be honest $79.00 is a little steep for a basic controller with a LCD. The info that the LCD provides is pretty basic. Giving you the volt status of your batteries and amps coming in or going out depending if your using the load terminals on the controller. The good news is that on Amazon you can find real good deals on this exact same controller. I bought 2 within a week. The first one I purchased was $42.00 including shipping. The second one was $29.99 including free shipping. Prices do seem to fluctuate on Amazon a lot depending on the vendor. The bottom line is that I bought 2 for the price of 1 at HF. Now for the price I paid, this is a very good controller. Controllers in the $30.00 to $40.00 price range give you LED status, charging, charged, etc. If you want digital info it requires using a multimeter. This will do everything that a basic controller will do and provide you with good basic info on the LCD. For $30.00 this controller is a steal and for $40.00 a very good buy.....

This device is a good cheap battery controller which its main benefit is a display of battery volts, solar amps and load amps.just a cheap way to get into solar.or battery regulation.I'm not sure I trust this to run my wholesystem when I get pass the hobby or small system phase.the more you read up on these battery controllers the better idea is an MPPT controller probably with a display so you can buy those much cheaper 30v panels for.55-.95/watt from retailers on Web with better quality and run those with a higher degree of power collecting and management.this unit is handy but will just help point the direction in which you should go.you would probably be glad per say to buy a30amp Coleman unit or just a little more for a well similarratedsimilar unit.but this is handy on a smaller level for the price.it seems I have had to start the load by pressing the load button more than once but I don't even have to run the load connected to the charge controller.learning and experimenting is part of the benefit of this handy little unit bought for around$20 .it's also good just as a meter.

Total f-in garbage. Not even worth the paltry six bucks it and the shipping will cost you. The USB adapter doesn't fit my Sansa Fuze, despite it being one of the compatible models listed. The AC adapter was broken on arrival because they didn't ship it in a box. The car adapter fell apart when I took it out of its package. I was able to screw the end back on, but the thing is so cheaply constructed I give it a week before its completely unusable.

This works with my SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Blue). I was so worried because of the bad review, but maybe some people ordered the wrong product?? It works just the way it is supposed to. I was a bit surprised that it is not as cheaply made as I thought it would be and at the speed of charge. So very happy I can power it up in my car & office! -And the extra cord is a lifesaver. AND I can use the wall & car chargers on anything with a USB cable. (That is pretty amazing & has uncluttered all of my cords in my car. I only have to keep two cords and the plug-in piece instead of five cords.) I think I kind of love this thing.

Best Deals for 3 Piece Value Combo Accessory Bundle Kit: USB Car Charger + USB

The charger is so poorly made it fell apart after less than two weeks of light usage. I had impulsively bought two (one for the wife, who never used hers), and the second one also fell apart after two weeks of light usage. It's inexpensive, all right, but it's not even worth the tiny amount of money I paid for it.

Basically, it consists of two molded shells that snap together, and plugging the UBS adapter into the socket pushes the two halves apart.

Honest reviews on 3 Piece Value Combo Accessory Bundle Kit: USB Car Charger + USB

I lost or misplaced my Sansa USB Data Sync and was happy to find this at a reasonable price. You can't beat this 3 Piece Combo Accessory Bundle Kit for the price. I use the USB Travel and Wall Charger to charge other mp3 players and phone. I recommend this Kit if you have any electronics that can be powered or charged by using USB connector.

I wanted to get this product for my iPod touch so that I don't have to turn on a computer every time my iPod needs to be charged. I was going to pay $20 separately for a wall charger and car charger at a store, until I found this on Amazon. As is described, the wall plug and the car adapter have USB docks in them. iPods aren't the only things that these things can recharge, though. I plugged in my phone via USB and it worked as I expected. This is a nice feature because it will save me from having to buy a new car adapter for every new phone I get, so long as I have a USB cable for said phone, that is. It'll even recharge my Xbox 360 wireless controller! Sometimes I need to recharge my Xbox 360 controller but the Xbox 360 is annoyingly loud, turned on, when you're not using it. Such a pleasant capability!

Aside from the wall plug and car adapter, the USB data cable works just as well for syncing iPods as the one that comes with them. The fact that the cord is retractable is very convenient because it eliminates any tangling of other cords and it's easy to just slip in your pocket in case you're planning on recharging your iPod somewhere like at school. It isn't as long as the one that came with my iPod, but it certainly is nice to have because sometimes I need to recharge my iPod with my MacBook, but have a hard time bringing that long messy cord that comes with the iPod.

All in all, the wall plug, the car adapter, and the retractable USB data cables defeat messiness and will save you money on extra junk that you think you may need. It's a must own for ANYONE who needs to charge a device via USB. Did I mention that it'll even recharge Xbox 360 or PS3 wireless controllers? Whether it's an iPod, a phone, a game controller, or whatever that needs to be recharged via USB, I highly recommend this product to anyone.

From what I've experienced, the other reviewers are correct: this product is either not designed to charge an iPhone 3G from a wall outlet (the most likely case since the Firewire pinouts were removed for the 3G), or else has such quality control problems that only a minority of wall units sold (judging from the reviews) actually work. The presentation on my iPhone is that the status icon on the top of the iPhone switches to the charging icon, and the full screen image with the green battery bar graph appears. But the unit doesn't really charge. And when you try to "slide to unlock" when connected to the wall charger, the arrow button never slides, and you cannot get to the Home screen (or the Enter Passcode screen if you have a passcode).

There are several online reports to the effect that several generic third-party iPod/iPhone chargers no longer work with the iPhone 3G. That seems to be true here, despite the claims to 3G-compatibilty.

The USB cable should work fine, though you can purchase it very cheaply by itself. I've not tried the car charger, and honestly wasn't in a big hurry to do so since I've traditionally had bad experiences with such devices (although I must admit that today's rechargeable batteries are much more resilient than the NiCads and lead acid gel contraptions that us greybeards started out with in the 1980s).

So your experience may be better, and it's not a major purchase, but since it's claimed that this is iPhone 3G compatible, I'm giving it one star and suggesting you look elsewhere.

Best Deals for SANOXY® 3 in 1 USB Charger Kit for iPod® and iPhone®:

It works fine, but the cord only extends to 2 ft. Think it should be at least 3 or 4 feet.

Cheap Macally Battery Pack with Speaker for iPod Video

Macally Battery Pack with Speaker for iPod Video
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
MacAlly's versatile new PowerTune is the best $50 U.S. iPod accessory ever. As a case, its rigid plastic is snug and secure, with full access to iPod dial and headphone port, but not on/off/hold switch. The speakers are tiny with midrange emphasis, but with enough presence to keep you entertained or informed by whatever is playing on the iPod under most listening conditions. Charging is efficient and almost effortless, with enhanced built-in battery capacity for your iPod. As a stand, PowerTune is stable, with sensible positioning.

Speakers and charging indicator light are on lower front of PowerTune. Volume control, mini-USB port, and off/charge/play switch are lower rear. A clear front plate with circular hole hinges at the bottom and snaps shut at the top, onto the black rear business-end of the case. An iPod slips into a 30-pin dock connector that is just above the speaker section. MacAlly provides a self-adhesive foam shim to fill the gap between PowerTune's black inner back and an iPod's silver backside. Fit is snug, without much wiggle room.

There is not a lot more to know. You can play or charge an iPod with or without the assistance of a computer, or external speakers or headphones. PowerTune fits into most front pants pockets, or nearly all tote bags or purses. Indicator LEDs notify you when charging is complete. Syncing or recharging PowerTune via the included USB cable is straightforward.

Audio playback via headphones is easy as pie, as is operating an iPod's click wheel controls. Playback from the built-in pair of 500mW speakers will leave you wanting more robust audio delivery, but will certainly satisfy most buyers who know value when they see and hear it. Rotating PowerTune's clear front plate forward and underneath allows you to set it down on a table or desk with both screen and wheel exposed.

PowerTune's full set of features plus four photos are located at its web site. Wear and tear will blemish the clear screen protection area, so be aware of where and how you handle and carry it. I worry the plastic top snap will erode, and suggest that MacAlly redesign that aspect.

I am not going to test how much extra power PowerTune's 1050mAh Li-ion battery provides, because there are too many variables to that equation, but its built-in battery can only boost and not diminish and iPod's battery capacity. "Approximately doubles" is MacAlly's claim.

The company does not include any written or website instructions for PowerTune, which is a mistake I've mentioned to MacAlly. You can expect to have additional information available by early 2008.

MyMac.com is fond of MacAlly's ingenious PowerTune, and we give it a high recommendation. With many more positive features than flaws or omissions, we rate it a strong 4 out of 5.

Pros:

Plays music (speaker)

Charges iPod

It's a case and a stand

It has its own rechargeable battery

Can sync iPod without taking it out

Respectable volume

Decent battery life (keep volume on the iPod itself at 0 to last longer)

Inexpensive

Cons:

Low sound quality

Won't survive much abuse

Doesn't charge while speaker is in use

Squares off the iPod because of the shape

Conclusion: I love this little thing because it's the only thing like this that I have found so far. I only wish a little more thought had been put into it.

Best Deals for Macally Battery Pack with Speaker for iPod Video

I bought three of these for our video ipods last August. We travel alot, and my boys can be pretty rough on the ipods. I liked the idea of the extra battery life, and the stand (we are so bad, that we often take these to restaurants to keep them in their seats long enough-horrible people we are). The speakers were an extra bonus. Well, I originally got these for our summer trip to europe and they performed very well for the first 6 to 10 charges. I have to say that I was charging them with a power inverter and probably at least once a day. I liked the indicator to know if they were charged, and they gave extra batter life to the Ipods. Great protection in the carry-ons, as well. However, after about 6 to 10 charges, one started to suck the battery from the Ipod, and didn't give any extra life. Then the second started, and now finally all three fail to hold a charge, or function for anything other than case and stand. It's too bad, because I like the multi-function potential.

Honest reviews on Macally Battery Pack with Speaker for iPod Video

Love this product, like to watch videos on my iPod and sound is just what i was looking for. I can also use it to charge my iPod and sync it to my computer.

The Macally Battery Pack is pretty blocky and not at all an attractive addition to the iPod Video, but it works well. The sound is decent for the price, and it does double the battery life. I also like the LED, as it changes color as the battery charges, so you know when it's done charging. One thing, don't expect this to charge your iPod through the USB while the pack itself is charging. Both will take forever.

I saw this exact same item at a shop that I get my tires, batteries, alignment, etc. done.

Best Deals for Schumacher INC-7A-OBD On-Board Diagnostic Connector

Well built and easy to use. Works like a charm. Only reason I didn't give it the 5th star is that the owner can't replace the internal battery, which will mean some down time at some point in time have it serviced.

Honest reviews on Schumacher INC-7A-OBD On-Board Diagnostic Connector

If you ever need to change out your car battery and you need to keep all of the programs stored in your cars computer, then this is a must. I had the dealership change some of the factory settings on my truck to improve the performance, but the problem is, if you removed the car battery then you loose all of your upgraded settings. So when you plug this into the OBD II port, it allows current to stay in the computer and you don't loose your settings...

The battery croaked after 5 years. I just bought the same thing again.

It will probably last longer if you follow the instructions. It's apparently a lead-acid battery and should always be recharged before it gets too low, which I did not do.

According to the manual, the battery has enough juice to completely inflate 8 car tires or run an 8 watt TV for 14 hours. Max output is 15 amps @ 12 volts.

Shop around. An orange logo home improvement place sells these for a good price.

PROs:

The CC2300 is perfect for tires.

The built-in pressure gauge and clip-on inflation hose make tire inflation a breeze.

You're going to waste money on gas unless maintaining your tire pressure is real fast and easy. This unit makes it real fast and easy.

It's compact. It has little compartments for all the accessories (charger, hose, 12 volt cord, extra fuse, etc.)

The switches and indicator lights are clear, sensible and ergonomic. The handle, and everything about it is to like.

The cigarette lighter socket lets you use it as a 12 volt power supply, and also lets you recharge the unit from your car's cigarette lighter. (I never used these features.)

CONs:

It has very low air volume for air mattresses or large beach toys. I wish they had doubled the air volume and maxed the pressure at 115 PSI instead of 230 PSI.

The pressure gauge reads about 4 lbs too high. Need to compensate.

It's "household quality" not industrial quality. One of the little compartment covers broke the first day I had it.

Strangely, you are not supposed to use it while plugged in to 110 volt AC.

This review is based on my using this product only a few times so I can't comment on its longevity or holding a long-term charge. I bought this because (1) I am too lazy to go to the gas station to put air in the tires and many gas stations don't even have air hoses anymore anyway, or else they charge you for air; and (2) by the time you get to the station the tires have warmed up and the pressure isn't accurate anymore.

The build quality of the unit is satisfactory. Everything is clearly labeled and the instructions are brief but clear. The hose and accessories fit tightly in the compartments provided and there isn't room for anything else in there.

I charged it overnight, hooked the air hose to my car tire and turned it on. It is pretty noisy and the air fills rather slowly but then this isn't an expensive compressor so I don't think it is realistic to expect anything more. It took about 30 seconds to add two pounds of air. The air hose made a tight clamp on the tire valve and the embedded tire gauge is adequate although it is best to use a more detailed gauge since the supplied one does not have marks for each pound of pressure, only in increments of 10 pounds. I noticed that the reading per the embedded gauge matched my separate tire gauge, however (which is also made by Cambell Hausfeld so maybe they're in cahoots with each other).

All in all, so far I am glad I bought this because it is much easier to add air in my garage instead of driving to the station. I just hope this thing lasts, which based on how it has performed so far, it should do the job for a while.

Note: I am adding this on July 31 after having used the unit for a while. It still works like I wrote above, but I find that it doesn't take that long for the yellow indicator light to come on telling you it needs to be recharged again. I'd say it lasts long enough to check the tires on two cars as long as none of the tires needs a lot of air (like maybe 2-3 lbs per tire at the most). However, you can always plug it into the cigarette lighter and use it and then you don't have to worry about the battery drain.

Well now I am adding something again on September 30. I've found this unit really does not keep a charge very long at all and the yellow light comes on before you can even finish with the 1st tire. If you plug it into the cigarette lighter outlet then it works fine (make sure the motor is running so you don't drain the battery) but otherwise, don't depend on this to provide air in the case of an emergency.

Purchased to replace portable air tank. I used it three times [two bicycle tires and partial inflation of car tire to 36 psi] over a period of approximately six months.

Attempted to inflate a water device and battery indicator was 'Low' after 3-5 minutes. After charging for four days, it still reads 'Low' and strange noises coming from the case but not enough air to inflate volleyball!

Honest reviews on Campbell Hausfeld CC 2300 Portable Inflator

I bought this 4 months ago to replace a Campbell Hausfeld air compressor with almost 20 years of service. My old compressor used 12V DC current only (cigarette lighter)and this one has a built in battery. The battery is of little use to me because it won't hold a decent charge; it never really has despite charging according to directions. I charged it overnight for use this morning. The charge inflated the tire from 19 psi to 23 psi before going dead.....4 measly pounds on a "fully" charged battery. The tire size is 235 65 17, so not a small tire by any means, but 4 pounds?? I used the cigarette lighter cord to finish the inflation to 32 psi.

Sturdy construction, adequate length hose to reach valve stems at their highest point, fairly quick inflation compared to my old compressor. Storage area for cords WAY too small, expect to do some serious stuffing to fit these back into the storage space once they're unraveled....or you may even give up after a few minutes.

This is perfect for bicycle tires using only the internal battery. But, expect to use the cigarette lighter cord if you plan on inflating auto tires.

It's just frustrating when you expect a product to perform as you thought was advertised. Except for the small storage space, I would have absolutely no complaints on this product if it DIDN'T have the internal battery to begin with. But since it does, it should at least hold a charge enough to inflate a set of tires that are each a few pounds low. Ok, even 2 tires each a few pounds low would be borderline acceptable....but a single tire 4 pounds on a "fully" charged battery....not acceptable.

I have had two of these. The first overheated and burned out. The 2nd one when fairly new somehow jammed the piston at exact top and wouldn't turn. It kept blowing fuses. I took apart and moved by hand but when put back together it couldn't get pressure over 30 lbs. The air volume is very low too. I'm now shopping for a 110 volt unit with more air volume.
