There was a bad run of the power packs that would heat up and melt. GoalZero has corrected the problem months ago and sent out new power packs that are labeled "GUIDE 10 PLUS" in the indention below where it says GoalZero. The old defective power packs just say "GoalZero" with nothing in the endintion. The word !PULS! tells you that you have the re engineered power pack. Amazon's stock of GoalZero products are the old defective power pack that will heat up and melt. I ordered one on January 20, 2012 and got the bad power pack. After talking with customer service, it is evident that the old stock will be shipped until it is exhausted. They were very helpful in refunding my money without requiring the product be returned. Make your purchase from Amazon THROUGH one of the other sellers listed on the right. I contacted Blue Kangaroos and they are aware of the problem and HAVE the new power pack ready for shipment.

I'm not one to type reviews; but I felt I must inform many here at Amazon after using reviews to help me with my purchases. I bought the Goal Zero Guide 10 with the hope the unit will charge my iTouch 3rd generation. I also purchased the Nomad 7 Solar Panel in a separate purchase. The two units work together or separately. They both charge small electronic items such as my cellular phone.

My concern comes from not being able to charge my iTouch 3rd generation. YOU MUST MAKE SURE you have the 1 amp unit which is the Guide 10 plus. The Guide 10 is only 1/2 an amp which will slowly charge your iTouch; however, you will receive the message from the iTouch saying it is not the proper charging unit. I was told by customer service of the situation and it will not harm the iTouch.

I"m not really thrilled about this and feel the company misrepresented what the Goal 10 can do. Many consumers are not electrical savvy. They do not understand if 2 amps or 25 amps will do what it needs. IF we want to make sustainable energy welcomed by many others, we need to better inform them of solar energy and what people need in order for it to do what they need it to do.

Hopefully, this will help inform those consumers who would like the unit to do what it says. I must admit I'm not thrilled; however, I do hope this will help people understand.

The Guide 10 was advertised as able to charge an iPod. It didn't charge my Touch, even after trying a few suggestions by Goal Zero support. It does work well with the Nomad 7 solar panel to charge AA batteries, and works to charge my cell phone. But I really wanted it mainly to charge the iPod.

Edited to say that after MUCH back and forth, they finally replaced it with one which worked. So I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.

The "Guide 10 Power Pack" was recalled by Goal Zero and replaced with the "Guide 10 PLUS Power pack". The Guide 10 power Pack[this one] has a number of problems such as melting when charging batteries, failure to charge high capacity batteries, and it will not charge any of the IPhone/IPad products. Go with the Guide 10 PLUS!!

I actually have the Goal0 19007 Guide 10 Adventure Kit and purchased an extra Guide 10 power pack. The idea is that I can have one fully charged at all times while the other one is charging. It charges my Blackberry in no time and still has enough juice to charge my friends iPhone 4. I've also used it to charge my Bluetooth device. It has a built in LED light is a good flashlight to use in a pinch. The LED light is rated to run 20+ hrs on a full charge. I also use the it with the Goal0 14101 Luna Light which plugs into the packs USB port. Charging it with the solar panels in full direct sun takes approximately 1.5-2.0 hrs. In a computer USB port, it takes close to 6 hrs. This is a very handy device that I never leave home without it or hike without it.

Compare to the price I can not say it's bad. Can be used only when you have no other option. Makes the cell phone hot when charging a little long time and practically charges when not in use. GPS of your cell phone is being used, practically doesn't add any charge.

It was a while before I used this product. I generally keep the MP3 charged. HOWEVER...I have an off he grid camp where everything is rechargable so there are lots of "AA" rechargable batteries with adapters to "C" and "D". BUT there wasn't anything I could do to vastly extend the play time on the MP3. Well there is now! Just as the music stopped I thought, "Well, back to the CDs and cassettes". (I plug the MP3 into a boombox that I've wired several car speakers into). Then I remembered that I had bought this charger just for this application. Saved the day AND I got to look like a genius to my wife who thought this was overkill when I bought it. Cheap Vmaxtanks AGM 125ah for Solar Wind Power Emergency Backup Generator

Like another customer, I did my own extensive research. This is an amazing battery for the price, and free shipping to boot. I currently have primarily wet cell batteries which are extremely dangerous and a pain to transport with that given danger of spillage of sulfuric acid. I purchased an Optima battery, which is a great product itself, however its capacity seems to max out at 66AH. That, and they seem to be a little bit overpriced. These batteries solve both problems with being AGM batteries, and 125AH. I bought two and run them in parallel and they lasted a good few days powering my entire multi-media center (Power guzzling TV, 7.1 700W surround sound receiver and speakers with separately plugged in 12" sub, PS3, Modem, router, various fans, etc.). Only down side is that they are EXTREMELY heavy (about 75lbs. each). But having worked with batteries and power for a living, I understand that that is just a fact of DC life. There is no way around it! The bigger the capacity, the heavier the battery. Plus, these are dry cell (NO MAINTENANCE).

These batteries are perfect for the applications they describe (solar). Like another customer mentioned, it even has its own torque recommendations. Given that I don't leave it with a float voltage or anything and move it back and forth from the solar panel system I built to the house to be hooked up to an inverter, I don't really pay much mind...but if you plan on leaving these in a stagnant location, I would definitely follow the torque recommendations to get maximum potential and efficiency from these batteries.

I still can't get over the free shipping! Anyway, coming from the point of view of someone who worked with batteries and DC power for a living, these are awesome batteries.

A very heavy object delivered right to my doorstep. The packaging was intact, the battery was in pristine condition. I have been using this battery for a solar test system. It charges well, maintains the charge, and discharges well. Years are needed to determine how it lasts, but so far, so good.

This product has been useful for my Galaxy S2. I get to play my music in my car and charge my phone. I don't have any issues with the sound of the music. However, you cannot charge your phone and listen to your music without a high pitch tone occurring that only gets louder if you try and turn the music up. Although, you can be charging one phone while listening to music from a different phone, which works for my family since we all have Samsung phones that fit to the adapter; there is only an issue when you are trying to charge and listen to music from the same phone. Things I would like to see improved is a station scan for available stations; you have to go through each station individually, which is okay when I'm in my local area but not when I am traveling and don't know the stations. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase.

This is the second one of these transmitters I have owned and they are by far the best on the market. They are simple and very well made. There is zero static when playing through the radio, and all music frequencies are crystal clear(with cell phone or ipod all the way up). The charger attachment is a great bonus as well. I would recommend this to anyone who's car does not have an auxiliary jack on it. This item is amazing. My first one lasted for over 3 years and was going strong until I broke the wire accidentally. Great product.

But you can't charge your phone and transmit you music at the same time. Cause it'll interfere with the signal. also I had this blow my radio fuse multiple times. I replaced this item with Sprint Micro-USB vehicle power charger PLUS, I lost the transmitter feature with that plug, but I didn't blow anymore fuses. Over all this isn't worth any of your money.

I drive an old car and I commute a long distance to work so I listen to a LOT of audiobooks on first an iPod and now a galaxy 2S. I have become a connoisseur of transmitters of all sorts. This is not a good one. The audio was terrible, very scratchy and distorted. If I held it a certain way it wasn't too bad but that is completely not workable for a car that bumps down the road. I don't want to have an accident from messing with my transmitter. I've had really cheap $5 models that were more clear. Customer service tried very hard to keep me from returning it but finally relented. That bothered me also. That sort of tactic makes me think their business model is based on selling cheap stuff that people won't bother to return and demand refunds. After I sent this one back I bought the GOgroove FlexSMART X2 ADVANCED Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter which was far superior and worth the extra cost. I bought another for my husband.

I bought this based on a recommendation from a co-worker who purchased this at a truck stop. I am so glad that I did. Its like a power strip...for your car! The 3 Edison plugs are spaced just right so that you can fit 3 wall warts, the USB power is a major plus, and the car power port on the other end is of course a necessity. I love the rubber cover for the USB jack for when it is not in use (It is made of thick, durable rubber, and mine doesn't even show signs of wear).

As part of my job, I often have to drive a truck. That being said the cord is long enough to either set the strip on the dash, or the floor. I have never had a problem with heat, fan noise, or power draw. It is also pretty heavy duty, especially considering it doesn't weigh very much at all. The strip has 4 screw slides on the back for more permanent mounting.

My only complaint (Other than not having more outlets, which just isn't practical running off of a car power port), is that the L.E.D. indicating that it is turned on could be brighter.

This item is awesome for long trips, or for when you have to wait in the truck for a long period. I would say this item is a must for truck drivers, long trips with kids, or those people with tons of gadgets. 5 out of 5, I would not hesitate to buy another one.

I've recently broke one of these by accidentally smashing the plug. Entirely my fault (not the product's). But it works so good, I bought another. Its so nice to charge and use a laptop (and other gadgets) while traveling. I've tried a few 100watt inverters to power my 85 watt computer, they have all failed me. This 150watt inverter does what I want.

The bad...

The fan is noisy, but so are most all inverters of this sort. Plugging it in is a little finicky to get a connection it could be my car's receptacle. The power light is dim; tough to see on sunny days.

The good...

I use this to power either of my two power-hungry laptops. It has never flinched nor got very warm. This item seems more durable than average. It has a heavy gauge power cord that is about 2.5 to 3 feet in length. The power light is dim; doesn't light up the car at night. The 12volt receptacle is nice.

Other...

The long shape may not work for everybody. I leave it in my car's jockybox, and it barely fits. I bought mine from Town Pump (gas station) for a higher price than Amazon's.

With 3 teenagers on a long road trip it was critical we had enough juice to power all the toys and cell phones. It powered my 17" Sony Vaio PC. We had a Samsung Tab plugged into the PC. Also kept a windows phone charged using the USB. The price on Amazon was incredible compared to the price in a the stores. I also like the "Power strip" layout and the Long cord. It could reach from the front cigarette lighter to the back seat. I also really like all the outlet options, I can charge anything anywhere. I'm going to start taking this on business trips as well. We are always having issues with enough power outlets for our PC and Iphones.

If you have a larger laptop make sure you only charge it while it's off, otherwise the inverter gets a little rough on your car battery. But if you have something like a small camera or cell phone that needs charged this works great.

Solidly built, well designed and I tested it with a volt meter and found it to produce 117 VAC (AC volts) on all three outlets. I did not test the 12VDC port or the USB port. The manual is well written and informative. The power cable is 4 feet long.

This unit produces a modified square wave to approximate a sine wave and product literature claims this is sufficient to power "most" laptops and electronic devices safely (some electronics are very sensitive to wave form). I will be using the PowerDrive to power a recently purchased Dell Vostro laptop. My expectation is that this advertised to run electronic devices safely so I'd be surprised if it didn't.

This is listed as a "fully automatic" car battery charger, which means that if you select a charge amperage it's supposed to automatically maintain that charge amperage.

However, "fully automatic" does NOT mean this is a Battery Maintainer. This does NOT have Float-Mode Monitoring. You cannot just connect this to your car battery and forget it because if you do, pretty soon this will completely destroy your battery.

If you do not disconnect this charger after your battery is fully-charged, it will overcharge your car battery which will reduce it's capacity and eventually ruin it permanently. You need to read the manual carefully to figure this out and you need to connect a separate battery meter to determine if the battery is fully charged.

You can safely ignore the meter on the front because it's useless. With a fully dead battery, the meter will show as fully charged.

This is O.K. for a brute-force charging but the phrase "fully automatic" in the title is very deceptive. There are much better car battery chargers out there for less money that will keep your battery healthy.

Have used this charger for several years with no problems. As long as you read the instructions and make sure you remove the charger when the light is on and shows the battery fully charged. The good thing about this charger is you can use it for a motorcycle, car battery, or use the 50 amp setting to start the car right away. Also has a 3 year warranty from Sears if new.

2, 6, and 10 amp charging rates are all I need for my motorcycle and automotive needs. This little charger is perfect; very small with provisions to wrap up the cords and has a very interesting and smart charging cycle that promotes a healthy battery. The maintaining feature is nice too as it will put a load on the battery to simulate use and then charge it to keep the battery in optimal working order over long periods of storage. I don't believe the maintainer will automatically turn on after A/C power is lost in a power outage for example, so you may wish to purchase another charger if maintaining is your primary use, but you may want to contact the supplier first.

This unit exceeded my expectations. I'm using it to refurbish batteries for my solar power system and it works great. The loading phase will repeat until it gets it right so that the sulfation on the plates is virtually eliminated. This charger is saving me hundreds of dollars by not buying new deep cycle batteries.
