I'm using this charger for 7" Coby DVD player as my original car charger broke.

It seems to be charging and working fine but it gets hot pretty fast.

Also I can smell if something maybe burning inside that converter box.

I'm only using when needed but I wouldn't recommend using it for long period of time and don't leave the plug on when not using!

It worked great for a whole week, the it just stopped completely. At least it was inexpensive and not worth the trouble trying to send it back for a refund.

I needeed a good converter for my portable scanner radio. I had tried other but they would not fit properly and would eventually fall out. This one works perfect and appears to a be a little better quality that others I have bought locally. This should do the job for you.

Review of BlueAnt Supertooth Light Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black)

BlueAnt Supertooth Light Bluetooth Speakerphone

I buy tons of gadgets and with the exception of a few products, it seems like most fall short of perfect. Not so here. Instead of little disappointments, I go a lot of little surprises that added up to a great experience from unboxing to actual use.

First off, I could actually open the package without getting scissors. When I looked inside, they gave me a bonus "in-car vent mounted cell phone holder". It's actually not cheesy and is something that I will use to park my phone while I make calls.

They also give you a AC and Car charger. Lots of companies like apple make you get this separately so I was happy that it was included.

OK, so all this is great, but how well does it work? I followed the easy directions to pair it with my Treo 680 and 30 seconds later I was making calls. I rang my wife in the car with the AC blasting and the window rolled halfway down to test it. We could hear each other no problem. I asked her if I sounded OK and she had no complaints.

I LOVE how releasing the mic turns the unit on. Brilliant. My only complaint is that the magnet that holds the unit to the visor clip is not as strong as I would like. You have to be a little careful when you press the mic back in or else it will start to rotate off the clip. I haven't been using this too long so we'll see how much of an issue this is.

By and large this product works as advertised. It connects wirelessly to your cell phone via bluetooth. Pairing is easy. The speaker phone is full-duplex so you can actually have a conversation with your counter-party. Battery life on standby is high. Professional reviews are favorable. So why not 5 stars?

The BlueAnt Supertooth Light is flawed. 1. Lacking a screen, there is no effective way to initiate calls from this unit. The Bluetooth implementation on the Garmin nuvi is vastly better in this regard, because it provides easy access to your cell phone's contact list and recent calls. 2. Noise reduction is ineffective. Unless you are stopped, the road and wind noise from your car can make it impossible for your counter-party to understand you. Due to 1 and 2, this handsfree speakerphone is for emergency incoming calls only. 3. The Supertooth attaches magnetically to a metal sunvisor clip. It is easy to install, but also easy to accidentally knock off when you adjust the sun visor. 4. On the Supertooth a blue light flashes when the Supertooth is connected to your cell phone. This is okay during the day since you don't notice it. But at night it is insanely annoying to have a flashing blue light on your sunvisor, prominently in your field of vision. The flashing blue light is so irritating that I keep my Supertooth turned off at night and only turn it on when my phone starts ringing. At that point, its a race between Supertooth start-up/pairing and my cell phone provider's transfer to voice mail. Sometimes the Supertooth wins and I get the call; sometimes it looses and I have to return the call.

Bottom line. The flashing blue light and poor noise cancellation are so annoying that I had decided to return this unit. Then I received an incoming call and I thought that even with all its flaws I'd rather just push a button on my sun visor than fumble with my cell phone while driving. If the Nokia HF-300 were available today, I would return my BlueAnt and try that. But it's not so I guess I'll keep the BlueAnt.

I was really tired of having to use a handsfree device while driving my car. The Bluetooth earpiece used to give me headaches and was just generally uncomfortable. I saw the BlueAnt Supertooth advertisement, and thought that I would give it a try. I cannot put into words just how happy I am with this device. I connected it to my Motorola Razr, the setup was a snap. Now when I get into my car, I merely have to turn on the BlueAnt, and it automatically connects with the Razr. With my other device, I had to scroll through several menus on the cell phone to get the two devices to pair up. Plus what I found to be even better, was the sound quality. The speaker delivers crisp, clear sound, and the people that I'm talking to are often surprised when I tell them that I'm using a handsfree device. The sound quality at both ends is that clear.

Honest reviews on BlueAnt Supertooth Light Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black)

I am on my second BlueAnt Supertooth Handsfree Speakerphone. You have to push that mic arm in to turnoff and pop it out to turn it on. I had it about three months when the mic arm stopped going in, which made it unuseable. It was still under warranty. I contacted the company and I had to send it back at my expense. About six weeks later they sent me a replacement. I have had that for about three weeks and today the mic won't stay in again. There is something very wrong with this product. I need a refund. I don't recommend you buy one, unless you just want to throw your time and money away.

I have been using the BlueAnt Supertooth speakerphone for over two months, and have not yet had to charge it. Every time I notice that I didn't turn it off again, and expect it will finally need a charge, it is still working fine.

It was very easy to setup with a Treo. I've lost the directions, but it's so easy to use that I just press the buttons until it reconnects. Everyone I talk to over this phone can hear me perfectly. I have to turn the volume down when I'm listening to people with loud voices. So, good sound quality.

There is a blinking blue light on while the phone is connected to your cell phone. The blue light seriously annoyed me for a couple days, but it just seemed to disappear after that because I got used to it.

It is very sturdy metal, and it looked like it would hurt if it hit my head during a collision. My visor seems to be close to my head. So, I put the speakerphone on the side of the visor away from me, towards the roof of the car. Doesn't matter sound is still strong incoming and outgoing.

Easy to use, good quality sound, super long lasting battery charge, not too expensive.

Update: September 26, 2009

I have been using my BlueAnt Supertooth speakerphone for over 21 months now, and it is still excellent. I have tethered it to a series of phones: Nokia, Blackberry, Samsung and back to Nokia, and briefly a Motorola. Just keep changing my mind, or work changes theirs, someone is always changing my phone. No problem. I don't know how to work my Supertooth, so whenever I get a new phone, I just press the buttons until somehow the phone and the Supertooth connect. Why waste time on the manual when I can get it done faster by guessing, is my practice.

And the battery goes and goes and goes. I can count on one hand the times I have charged this speaker in the past almost two years. It seems impossible. I don't know if I just got a freakishly good battery or what. This thing just goes and goes and goes. And I don't remember to turn it off, but doesn't matter.

And the sound is so good that if I drive below the speed limit on the freeway, which of course I always do!, then people can't even tell I'm in a car. At a standstill with no motion sounds, people can't tell I'm on a speakerphone. In a pinch, I have used this speaker to make conference calls for business meetings. The sound quality is that good.

In all honesty, I think it's kind of cool looking in a slick, black, modern way, but I also think it's kind of ugly. I mean it's not pink. And not cute. And I am so ready to get a new, cute speaker for my cell phone. But I can't! Because this thing just keeps working perfectly, almost never needing a recharge, sounding excellent. No one has ever stolen it. I leave it in at valet parking and car washes and in hotel parking lots. No one wants this unsexy, workhorse.

If you just want a terrific product that does what it is supposed to do exceptionally well, and don't mind that it won't break and no one wants to steal it, that you are just stuck with it for god only knows how long, saving money, having Mr. Dependable Speaker always ready, then go ahead and get this. But it is really seriously not cute at all.

I have a 2000 26' Nomad from Skyline. It came equipped with a Magnetek model 6345 Converter/Charger. I purchased this product to: (1) Upgrade the original system from a single stage charger to a "smart" multi stage charger. Previous owner told me he had constant overcharging problems. This should do the trick. (2) I also decided to go with this 55 amp model to replace the old 45. It was a gamble since Progressive Dynamics says the 45 amp model is the correct replacement. This turned out to be the right move for me. The new DC circuit board has an extra bus on it. I intend on wiring a true sine wave inverter directly to it to supply power to my new LED TV & DirecTV HD DVR which only pulls about 250w 2amps 110v AC. I also replaced the two cheap 12v Deep Cycle Batteries with two Trojan T-105 6v Batteries wired in Series. Judging from the ease of installation, smart charging system, and price. I would have to say this product deserves 5 stars. I believe this is a new product so it may be hard to find reviews from people who have been using this product but It is more or less a combination of PD's other Converter/Charger combined with their "Charge Wizard" all packaged into a case that is the same exact size as the Magnetek 6300 series. Unless you are charging a multi bank system. I would buy this one again.

I replaced our non-working 12 volt converter with this. I did have to replace the included distribution panel but it was not as difficult as I thought it would be. The charger works great and regulates the voltage to the battery for storage. I leave the trailer plugged in all the time now and it doesn't boil out the battery like the stock one would.

I used this as a direct replacement of my Parallax 7355 which burned out after about 8 years of use (while camping). Directions were easy to follow, installation took about an hour or so. Very happy to see this product is manufactured in the USA. I have high expectations for this product and like that the upgraded 4-stage charging system so it won't cook the batteries while plugged in. I recommend this product for 1) features 2) ease of installation 3) great cost and features in comparison to the OE replacement unit.

Just got my new phone and wanted to have the ability to charge in my car. Well I got about 4 charges out of this unit and it just stopped working. You can actually tell that the person who designed and made this product rides a motorcycle. Build quality is great and the set includes all necessary components. Installation is fast and easy. Just connect the red and black ends to you battery terminal and you are done.

Well, you still need to run/hide the cable to make it look nice and neat but that's something the manufacturer can't help you with. They, however gave you enough cable so you won't have problems even on a large bike.

What you get in the package are: main cable that connects to the battery and has weather sealed connector that accepts the other cable that actually terminates with a mini usb plug. Included voltage reducer (from 12v to 5.2v) has on/off switch and a green light indicating when the system is on, so you won't accidentally drain you battery. There is also a safety fuse. They also included wire wraps and Velcro tape for cable management. It took me about 30 minutes to finish the work. Most of time was used by planing the run of the cable. Charger worked immediately after installing and my Nuvi 260w gps worked perfectly fine. I took my bike on the road the very same day and went where I have never been before. I couldn't have asked for more. This is so much better than 3 feet of basic wire offered by others.

I've looked long and hard to find a generator that will fit into my budject and project size. A stroke of luck landed me this. I was so happy that I saw the price go down I could barely believe it and was on pins and needles the day that it arrived. The waiting for the freight to arrive was an experience. A semi truck rolls down the street stops at my house pulls out a portable fork truck rolls it to my garage and pulls out again. something to see in a quiet neighborhood. the Assembly was easy enough, my only complaint is that the bracket that holds the rubber feet did not have a hole to bolt into and I had to (per instructions) loosen a vibration mount that attaches to the generator motor to install the rubber hoot bracket. that and the bolts that came with it had to be changed out & replaced with stainless ones for the rubber feet to attach to the bracket. The originals were all wrong for this application, easy enough fix. so after all my boo hoo'ing........wait one more that I forgot...even though on the instruction it says that there is a oil dipstick on the engine......don't believe them and just dump the whole bottle of oil that's included into the motor! after the oil, gas and the minor hook-ups it started with no problems and ran like a dream! I had a pull generator before and that's the last time for that!

I would recommend this for women that don't want to be left in the dark and without means. It has all of the features and is easy to operate. you do not need any special knowledge of mechanics to get the job done. the only thing that might hold you back is the weight....it is darn close to 300 pounds. every bit of it! but once you have the wheels and front bracket with rubber pads on you've only got maintenance to worry about once and a while and then when you have to fire it up.

Edit of review One year Later September 13, 2008

The machine still looks like brand new. Runs like it did out of the crate. I've done the required maintenance to it and keep it in my garage most of the time. But when I needed it, it came through like a champ.

We had a 3 day power outage and that generator ran for about 22 hours at a time and alot of gas. But it kept the power going to about 1/2 of the house. Great generator!!!!

Update August 30, 2011

Still looks like new. I've kind of let the maintenance go. :-( But this bad boy still is running good. No issues what so ever. Aside from the weight this generator is the best for the wattage.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I found the assembly and starting of this model very straightforward. Have only tried to run small appliances thus far but power output seems adequate.

This is a noisy product It is so noisy I thought something was wrong with the machine! I would estimate the noise output in excess of 100 Decibels. If you live in a built up residential area I doubt you will be able to run this model without receiving noise complaints. Contacted Briggs and Stratton who referd us to Generac who told us their is nothing can be done for the noise. They even state that changing the Muffler will void the warranty. I now find I am going to have to build an enclosure to reduce the noise. This is going to take a lot of time and probably cost me a couple of hundred dollars.

The selling feature that really sold this product was the electric start which I didn't even use as it started so easily.

I am sorry I didn't go with a smaller power output Honda, which allegedly run around 55 Decibels.

Best Deals for Briggs & Stratton Elite Series Generator 6200 Watt 11 HP ES #30242

It's actually almost a year and a half since I purchased the Briggs & Stratton 6200-Watt Generator at Amazon. And just as I figured, after making the purchase, we've not lost power for any great length of time that really required powering this baby up...that is until this past weekend. And, man, am I glad I had the generator.

First of all, I have well-water where I live. No power = no water because the pump won't work without power (duh). We had guests this weekend, and with no power for 24 hours, the toilets would have gotten...okay, you get the idea.

Plus it was the weekend, and without the generator the beer would have gotten warm (nooooo!). We have the generator set up to run not only our main refrigerator, but also a mini.

Also on the generator are heat/hot water (oil burner), kitchen lights, living room lights and the wall sockets in the kitchen and living room that include a TV/DVD player. The central air conditioning in my house would be a bit too much for the B & S 6200, so thank goodness it wasn't one of those 95 degree weekends. The 6200 gives you just enough power for the essentials (and a TV!).

The 6200 has an electric starter that's super convenient, but in between uses you might consider completely disconnecting the battery, or charging it every now and then by running the machine or plugging in the float charger that comes with the machine for a day once a month. I did not follow my own advice and had to use the pull start this past weekend, which was simple and effortless...the 6200 started on the first pull.

Update 11/2012: Turned out that the battery was completely dead, and I've used the pull start with no problem ever since I wrote this review 4 years ago. I finally decided to replace the battery which was a little difficult to find. However, as the first comment to my review I have provided a link to the correct replacement battery. ALSO...I have heard many stories from people (consumer and pro) that in order to avoid a problem where the carburetor shuts down due to unstable fuel gunk build-up, you should either run the generator at least once a month for 10 minutes. Or instead of just flipping the switch to OFF after use, turn the fuel line knob off and let the generator stop running on its own that way; this will consume all of the fuel in the lines and carburetor preventing clogs from unstable, old fuel.

I highly recommend this little 6200-Watt machine. All in all.....it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

Honest reviews on Briggs & Stratton Elite Series Generator 6200 Watt 11 HP ES #30242

Review update 12/24/09:

After writing to Briggs & Stratton corporate reps, I am receiving one half of the repair price for the carburetor problem described below--more than fair, considering the machine is 18 months out of warranty. My caution about starting the machine EVERY WEEK still applies, though. The rep told me that the manual warns that the generator must be started every week, and it does, but only if you don't add gasoline stabilizer, which I do. With stabilizer, the manual states explicitly (page 20 under "Storage"), the generator is supposed to be good to go, without starting it weekly, for 24 months.

I'm not disparaging the machine or the company. But I, and the repairman who has had a lot of experience with the Nikkei carburetor on the machine, agree that B&S could do more to either improve the carburetor or, at the least, get out the word that, even with gasoline stabilizer, the machine needs to be started... frequently. The alternative is to put the machine into deep storage, according to the manual: "Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel." This may be the better option. I don't know.

I've had the generator for 3 1/2 years and, up until two weeks ago, it pull-started and ran well--but the battery was dead, despite the trickle / float charger. During our last storm, I wheeled it out of the garage and ran it 20 minutes. Two hours later, when we lost power, I couldn't get it started. Even with fresh fuel with stabilizer, the gas in the bowl of the carburetor will varnish. What happened to my generator, according to the rep, as well as the repairman I eventually got to come to the house,is this: varnish (looks like gummy oil) built up; the engine started and ran for 20 minutes, loosening the varnish; two hours later, the varnish particles clogged the tiny fuel jets in the carburetor's "needle") and it would no longer start. I got lucky in that I found a small engine repairmen who makes house calls. I have no way of getting this 200 lb. guy to a repair shop. The repairman has the same engine and same carburetor and has repaired several generators with the Nikkei carburetor. He said that, when he complained to Briggs and Stratton that a cleaned carburetor would clog up again and again, Briggs and Stratton told him to simply replace carburetors at $95 a pop. So, he actually had one on hand and he replaced it: $65 for the housecall and service; $95 for the carburetor. His advice is to run the generator every month for several minutes. He does this with his own and has not had problems. The trick is to burn the fuel lingering in the system, cleaning out the system (the fuel stabilizer helps do this, and you can use "Sea Foam" in your fuel, too--available at car parts stores).

Regarding the battery:

The battery will just get you out of warranty. They're good for less than 3 years. I'm 58 and got the electric start for a good reason (you know why) and, naively thought the battery would be fine as long as it stayed on trickle charge (which comes with the generator). After some research, I learned that the generator uses a 12 volt battery. I bought a car-sized 12 volt marine battery with deep cold cranking power (CCA 500 amps). It does a great job and should last. I picked up a serious battery trickle charger ($35), not the palm-sized one that comes with the generator. This isn't a perfect set up: The battery obviously cannot be mounted on the generator, but I just connect the battery, start the generator, disconnect the battery and wheel it out of the garage--from now on, once a week.

Found generator to function perfectly. At 82 years of age,I reached a point where I could no longer depend on starting generator by pull string.

I was also able to keep it out doors by building a house over it to keep

it dry and it starts right up with the electric starter.

It makes me feel very secure knowing that the next blackout will not effect the normal functions of my home.

I recently purchased this Sunlinq 12 foldable solar panel to charge up my Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery pack while out backpacking. When I connected this panel to my voltage meter I was getting about 15 volts and 900mA under full sun. This is plenty of power to juice up any of my gadgets that are able to charge via 12-volt cigarette adapter. It charges my Sony PSP, my daughters Nintendo DS, powers my GPS unit, cell phone, my MP3 player...just a great piece of kit to have in an emergency situation when there is NO electricity or hook-ups. The panel itself is very light and made of good quality and folds up nice and small. I recommend using this solar panel with the Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery (to store all your power) and make sure to also buy the Tekkeon Sunbooster adapter for the battery pack which allows the solar panel to charge the battery much faster and efficiently. Great product!

I have the Sunlinq 12W, plus a 12V power stabiliser, and a cheap 12V charger for the NP-FH50 accus (used by my Sony HX1 photo camera).

Initial tests at home showed that the charger was active only if the sun was extremely powerful and the angle close to 90 deg. With not enough sun, not only the amps are lower, but also the voltage, so I had to add the extra 12V stabiliser to bring voltage back to charger minimums.

Unfortunately, even with the stabiliser, with not enough sun, charging takes forever.

I tried to use the panel last year, in a one month trekking trip in Nepal, at high altitudes (3000-6000m), with clear skies, and all I could charge was my GPS.

For charging the camera accus, I had to borrow the bigger brother of this panel, the Sunlinq 25W, from a friend.

Conclusions:

12W are probably the maximum power, with extremely bright sun; in real conditions the power might be significantly lower

the charger characteristics are of great importance; if it is a cheap auto model, it'll probably stop working at about 11V you need an extra stabiliser

for real applications I would recommend the bigger Sunlinq 25W

I use my Sunlinq to charge my iPhone 5 and iPad3. Works great. And, it is small, lightweight and flexible for packing. I use it up in the mountains while camping. Sure it takes a couple of hours to charge the phone, but hey, what's the alternative? I'd buy it again.

this works good if you get in a bad situation. I have a Motorola smart phone and it took 3-4 hours to charge it to 30% in good day light. Camping and hiking for several days and have a way to use the GPS on your phone its a great thing to have.

Seems well constructed. Has an aluminum frame as mentioned in the description. My only suggestion to make it truly weather proof would be a slightly better seal on the rear terminal block housing. I may silicon it or do something to better seal it for the environment I will be using it in. I considered sealing around the frame but this would seem redundant. The frame appears to just provide physical as opposed to environment protection for the panel. The panel itself seems to be sealed by virtue of how it is constructed.

It also comes with a nice selection of adapters(Cigarette Lighter, Alligator clamps, bare ended pigtail), and an LED adapter plug to check function. I purchased it to trickle charge a battery in a 16KW Backup Generator at a vacation property. I now realize that I really do not need it as the Generator is charging the battery regardless as long as it is connected to grid power. I may use it for my boat.

I keep a 19' skiff with a 90 hp outboard on it on a trailer at our beach condo. For the past 4 years this Brunton solar charger has kept my boat battery completely charged and ready to go even when the boat sits idle for six months or more. Before purchasing the charger, putting the boat in the water for the first time each season was a major pain as the battery would be completely dead and would have to be charged before the boat would start and before the power tilt would lift the motor to get the boat cover off. The charger remains connected to the battery and rests outside on the boarding ladder where it gets sunshine through the winter months. There is always plenty of charge on the battery. Now I put the boat in the water and hit the start key. There is plenty of charge for multiple cranking attempts if the motor is reluctant to fire up. It's perfect for my purposes.

I got two of these 24V panels and hooked together they put out 74v when hot, and 80v+ when cool and not in direct sun light. They charged my 36v electric bike batteries up to 40v+ in about 2 hours, in direct sun light. These probably would work fine in parallel for my 36v bike, sense each of them is putting out about 37 40v. They don't look anything like the picture, they are longer, and narrower than advertised. They take up hardly any room at all. I think they work just as good at night under a street light.

Please be aware that this item contains glass my original order was cracked on the corner and my replacement order was totally shattered... After the second time I called it quits and cancelled the order all together for a full refund. Ordered the same item at and was shipped in perfect condition the first try (how it should be). Wasted so much time ordering from amazon with big fail... didn't get to use solar for my camping trip but my walmart order will definitely go on my next camping trip.
