Review of Motorola T5410 Talkabout FRS Two-Way Radio
I love taking my family on winter and ski vacations. I also love going to different and remote ski resorts. I found myself booking a vacation in Eden, Utah which is town just minutes away from a true skiing paradise... Powder Mountain. The only thing that I don't like about this beautiful mountain resort is the lack of any reliable cellular service. That forced me to purchase a bunch of walkie talkies to help my family stay connected. The Motorola T5410 proved to be a good choice. It is compact, light, low cost, and reliable. It does lack some of the features of my more expensive Midland walkie talkies, but makes up for it by being simpler to operate and lighter in weight. I was able to use the Motorola all over the mountain and the sound quality remained way above average. All in all, this is a good quality walkie talkie with a fair price that also performs well in real world situations.

Buy Two (2) Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black
These are made from thin insulation "lamp cord". The plugs do not seat completely with my Deltran Battery Tender products.
I though that I was getting a better price by buying two in a pack, .50 cent cheaper, but I guess I was wrong. I will reorder the singles that Amazon sells. I would not reccomend these.

Used with the Battery Tender trickle charger to maintain batteries at their full charge automatically, this product allows the leads to be permanently attached to the battery terminals. By using one Battery Tender for several vehicles, One needs only plug the Battery Tender to the AtV plug when charging/maintaining the battery. Great convenience.Best Deals for Two (2) Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black
These little fused rings make it so easy to keep your battery charged at all times... for all your vehicles...and toys...I have four cars and a lawn tractor equipped with these and use a trickle charger to keep them all fully charged year round at all times...It's easy to hook them up and have no worries about dead batteries. I live in a semi rural area where public transport is not available and find these inexpensive items come in very handy indeed...and give me a great deal of peace of mind at a very low cost...Honest reviews on Two (2) Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black
These make battery charging, especially float charging, as easy as pie. They are a snap to install and stay on the battery. I have made my own but these are better, they are fused. BTO Better Than OEM. Great Name! I must say I was very pleased with their extremely fast shipping. Arrived 3 business days after ordering. And it works just as it should. I'm about to embark on 3100 mile road trip so we'll see how it holds up. But even if it doesn't, I could still buy 3 4 of these and still come out ahead of the in store prices. Discount Uniden GMR2875-2CK 28-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Waterproof Two-Way
The features are what sell this radio, but the cons will make you think twice about it. I recommend downloading the User's Manual PDF from Uniden for more specifics about these radios.
CONs -
I'm going to primarily talk about the cons of these radios since that is why you are reading this review.
1) They are larger than you think. If you intend on using these in a park or on the slopes, be advised that they are longer and thicker than most radios. My kids did not like to carry them for that reason, and it was not easy for me either, with such a long (rubber coated and flexible to a degree) antenna poking you in the side constantly.
2) They are also heavier than most radios of this type. I suspect that is due mostly to the type of construction given their water resistant nature.
3) The overall construction is solid, and has a good feel to it, but I would have to say the weakest link is the detachable Belt Clips, which are included. The good news is they're replaceable if you break or lose them.
4) The speaker is small, and in my opinion too small. Sounds distorted like you are in a deep hole.
5) We ended up repeating ourselves a lot due to the poor sound quality, especially with any real distance or background noise. The Volume settings are 0 7, and the MAX volume 7 is poor and is hard to hear in places like amusement parks. Although it does have alert and call tones that can punch through the background noise, the poor quality, distortion and minimal volume at max can be a real negative, and requires a the user to compensate with slower more pronounced speech, or hold the unit closer to your ears.
6) These units do not have ear bud or VOX features, again due to their water resistant construction, and it's a tradeoff to consider. It probably would have been a nice feature for Hunters.
7) The Radios are only usable with the factory battery packs. I highly recommend spare batteries if you don't have a way to recharge them in the field.
8) Unfortunately the Charger is slow, and they are not a smart charger, and will eventually cook the batteries over time if the radios are left in the charger too long.
9) The Battery Condition Monitor is a joke. The Batteries have a capacitive nature, so under light use, the indication shows Full due the batteries apparent voltage appearing higher than when under load and pulling the voltage down to its real state of charge. This becomes a problem when you think you have good battery capacity remaining, and then with a few minutes of use, the indication rapidly drops to Low Battery Warning, and then it starts Beeping to warn you that you only have a few minutes of use remaining. The Batteries last about 1 ½ days on a charge with light use, and a day with heavier use depending on what power level you Transmit at.
10) Transmission Distance is the usual overrated manufacture Hype. In an average residential area, I got good clear transmissions at about ¼ mile using 1 watt transmissions, and about 1 ½ miles using the 5 watt BOOST mode, after that, it drops off rapidly in quality. My best transmission distance (understandable but not real clear) was 9 ½ miles as-the-crow-flies over open salt water from about 200 ft above sea level from hilltop to hilltop across a bay including about ¼ mile of land on each end as measured by Google Earth. Not bad, but I was expecting better, especially over water given the 28 mile hype.
11) The screen is adequate, but some of the smaller lettering can be difficult to see in bright light.
12) I like the Missed call Alert, but I think Uniden missed the boat when they limited the various ways that feature can be used. I does have its plusses, but I think they could have done better with this feature given that these radios will be purchased primarily for their outdoorsmen features.
13) If there are other radios in the area using the same frequency, it can really affect the performance of the radios. This is true of any of these type of radios, since the privacy codes, are really an automatic Squelch control to help keep you from hearing unwanted radio conversation from those outside of your desired users. As an example, while at Disneyland, two local (outside the park) Radio Hams were using Base Stations on our channel to chat. We didn't know this until a period where we were trying to talk, but their radios were overwhelming ours, and garbling our transmissions to the point where we used Cell Phone Backup. At the time we were not in the "GROUP MODE", so I was unable to switch the other radios as mentioned below.
14) The CALL feature works great, but functions differently between the "Group Mode" and the "Standard Mode" because the Group Mode is designed to be able to single out a single user in a group of 16 or less users, rather than the "ALL CALL" in standard mode. This can be confusing to users in the GROUP MODE who are not Techno-Junkies, and get confused easily. If everyone in the GROUP understands how to use this feature, it's great. On the other hand, it can lead to someone thinking they have used the CALL button to page everyone with a single push, but in fact, the first push asks WHO in the Group you are paging, ALL or 1-16 by pushing a series of buttons, or at least pushing the CALL button twice for everyone. In the Standard Mode, one push does the job.
PROs -
1) They float and can withstand minor submersion for 30 min with no ill effects I have not tested this feature, but it's nice to know that if you do drop it in water, you will probably still have a working radio.
2) The Group Features and especially the ability to change every radio in the group's Channel Number to a different frequency from a single radio is GREAT Well done Uniden.
3) The Radio has a selection of Tones for Paging and other features. Enough that it should meet most needs.
4) I also like that you can turn the Roger Beep OFF. Some radios I have used can't do that, and that can be annoying after a while.
5) The Menu System is fairly easy to use, and there is a Key Lock feature that should help prevent unwanted changes. Some keys are still available such as Volume Control when the Lock feature is active.
I have 35 plus years of experience with industrial radios including commercial grade radios for Fire Service and in industrial Power Plant settings. As a radio hobbyist, I have used most types of non-commercial radios from walkie-talkies, & CB's up thru the current range of FRS, GMRS & MURS radios. These Uniden Radios transmit over a reasonable distance for non-commercial radios, but that is a function of Terrain and Obstacle dependent as is true in the commercial world too.
Overall, I like these radios for their specific features. They are a decent value, but like most radios in this class, they have their pluses and minuses. If you have a realistic understanding of what affects transmission distance, you will find these radio's adequate for their intended purpose i.e. use around harsh or wet environments. If you're looking for radios to use in normal dry conditions, there are much better values out there.waterproof, but a little big. wanted to put it on a helmet, but may be too big for that. headphones jack would be nice too, but that would probably affect waterproof-ness. otherwise, as good as advertised.

Discount TRAVEL LITHIUM BACK UP BATTERY INCLUDES CAR CHARGER 13 POWER TIPS
One issue people previously had with this product is that the mini-usb power connector was made of too brittle plastic and would break. This happened to me over the weekend. I sent them an email Sunday night and by Monday morning they had emailed me back asking my address to send replacement. Free of charge they rush shipped me two replacement mini-usb connectors wrapped in a new carry case. Sent Monday, arrived today (Wednesday). Wow!! Also the new mini-usb's sent to me are of the molded, more durable type so they have already updated their product.
This model (2000 mAH) will charge my Creative Zen 2gb mp3 player to full while I'm using it continuously and then still have about 3/4 of a charge leftover. Alternatively, I can get 2 full charges (as advertised) out of it if not using the player while charging. This may not be true of the lower power models. I looked at a lot at units like this before buying and every product seems to have complaints about how much juice it holds or quality of the battery. Obviously mileage may vary according to the device you're charging. This one is very attractive, well featured (has charge indicator, lots of connector tips, attractive carry case, car charger that also works for other devices etc.) and it works great. While it doesn't have a tip for my Samsung cell phone, I can use the standard USB receiver to connect it to my regular charger cord and it does a great job on that too. Only thing it needs is a belt clip or belt clip carry case. It does come with a spiral cord stretchy cable so it can go in your pocket and reach to wherever your player or phone is without sloppy cable to get caught on stuff.
Quality of battery seems excellent this company specializes in electric cars, handicap scooters, atv's etc so I'm confident in the quality of the battery. I highly recommend this product to anyone who's device needs a boost heavy music/audiobook listeners, cell phone talkers, campers & all day adventure sports types.

Cheap eForCity Retractable Micro USB Car Charger Compatible with HTC
I'm actually using this for my HTC Aria (AT&T) not the Incredible. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I like that it retracts, though as some other reviewers mentioned, the cord is relatively thin. This has not posed a problem for me, it just makes me want to be a little more careful with it than some other bulkier models. No complaints here.

I love the little blue LED light, and also have another retractable charger that lives in my other car. Discount Battery Tender 021-0128 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $67.99
Sale Price: $48.23
Today's Bonus: 29% Off

Every time I want to fire up my old 71 Datsun (that's Nissan for those of you younger than 30) 240 Z there's a good chance that the battery has drained down and that I can't start it! Looking around at car forums I read about this nifty little gadget....It's like a battery trickle charger....sort of. Whereas it's not recommended to keep a trickle charger hooked up all the time, this one has circuitry to limit the current and sense when the battery needs charging. It only charges at 1.25 amps which is easier on the battery.
I've had it on for a month now and it's great. The first couple of days, the red light was on indicating charging. Since then it's been on green and the car starts right up. I live in Houston where the heat and humidity can be just as brutal on batteries as the cold.
I highly recommend this "tender" for those that have cars that stay unused for long periods.
As other reviews have mentioned it comes with a set of adapters that allow you to permanently attach pigtails to the battery posts and then you can quickly connect the tender without having to use the alligator clips (also included).
For the price and free shipping you can't go wrong!
UPDATE after two years of use.
I can now reconfirm that these battery tenders work great I've had them hooked up continuously on two cars that stay in the garage a lot and I've NEVER had them not start right up. A quick glance at the LED display lets me know that the batteries are either charging or fully charged. It's a real pleasure to be able to go right up and enjoy your wheels without having to worry about whether the battery is dead. I can't say for sure, but I suspect that it lengthens the life of the battery as well.
I have a 4 year old Accord that, due to circumstance, only has about 4400 miles. Rarely driven...and what driving is done is mostly at night.
Sat for a week once in very cold weather...dead battery.
Ordered this. Hooked it up. 100% charge and the battery is very powerful once again.( had thought I would probably need a new one).
It's very small size makes it extremely easy to use and store. And it will not overcharge, so you do not have to babysit the process.
It's LEDs glow red when charging. Green and red blink once 80% has been achieved. Solid green at 100%.
It did, in very cold weather, take a long time to establish a full charge on my almost completely discharged battery. The battery would have been usable in a few hours, but 100% took close to 18.
Highly recommended.
Over all, Works well, made well (vented metal case). I've been testing it on a 55ah AGM.
I have a lot of background in battery chargers. Based on my review of the unit I bought, I wanted to maybe offer some general practical help for those that can't find all the info they need for guidance before they but such a product.
The price at Amazon makes it worth it, but not list at the OEM's site. The OEM list price is pricey for the Battery Tender Plus, the Battery Tender Jr is about 1/2 (based on the OEM price), and can take care of much of the same duties.
While I've read all I could from their site, all their advertising pre-sale doesn't warn that it may not charge a large cell that has been properly discharged. Once I bought my Battery Tender Plus, I found liteature comes with the charger that warns you of this..
I figured as much and bought it as a compliment to my smart bulk chargers that aren't good maintainers. The reason.......
If the power is interrupted on any of my bulk chargers, they don't come back to the correct profile, just the profile for 2amp charge for a wet cell general. Not the AGM profile.
The Deltran being a dedicated maintainer doesn't suffer from this problem.
If the power was to be cycled, it would just go through it's profile again. And since it's such low current, no harm.
These Tenders are Great for when the bulk charger is taken care else where on the larger RV, boat, or secondary car battery. Your primary car battery is charged by the alternator, and when you store the car you need to take care of the self discharge issue and any parasitic loads that will discharge your car's battery while in storage... the Battery Tender Plus is great for that.
As well as the Battery Tender Jr, if you have very little or no parasitic loads.
(if your parasitic loads are too great, you may need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle for storage if the parasitic drain/loads comes close to the tender's rating, it wont do it's job and your battery wont be a happy battery)
I've been testing the Battery Tender Plus on my optima AGM, and on maintenance float, the battery is only pulling a .01a at 13.2vdc. Just right. The profile was just about perfect, per optima's spec and other AGM's spec, and perfect for wet cells (normal car batteries).
If you have larger parasitic loads, the Battery Tender Plus (1.25a) will be a better choice. But if you pull your battery lead of have little or no parasitic loads, the Battery Tender Jr will work well and save you money over the Battery Tender Plus.
(Again, remember if your parasitic loads are too great, you may need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle for storage if the parasitic drain/loads comes close to the tender's rating, it wont do it's job and your battery wont be a happy battery)
For a motorcycle battery, the Battery Tender Plus is probably the end all charger.
But for the larger batteries, neither Tender will serve as a bulk charger. To protect your battery investment, get a good smart bulk charger (not the cheapo dumb bulk chargers) with the right profiles, and use the Deltan Battery Tender Plus or Battery Tender Jr for storage.
After the testing I've done (monitored and recorded voltage, current, and temps to see what the profiles are of the chargers), for my storage use, I could have gotten away with the Battery Tender Jr @.75a, for my storage "tender" of a single 55ah optima agm battery.
I contacted Deltran's "technical" department a few times about the problem, and told them that I suspected the charger was faulty, but they kept telling me it was the battery, or "check this" or "check that" or "the weather was too cold" (in Florida), even though I had told them the battery was new. So, figuring they knew what they were talking about, I purchased another brand new battery at the cost of $79.92.
I left the "new" battery on this charger for a few days, and it was the same thing as the "old" battery. The charger never showed a full charge or went into storage mode.
So now that the equipment that this battery is from has been out of service for a couple of weeks, (because Deltran recommended I remove the battery from the equipment since I was having a problem charging it), and I couldn't afford to fiddle around any longer, I bought a competitors battery charger for $46.45, and as it turns out after connecting the new charger, within a matter of a few minutes both the "old" and the "new" batteries showed fully charged, and the new (competitors) charger went into "storage" mode with no problem.
Now that I knew for sure that this Deltran Battery Tender Plus charger was not working properly, I reviewed the Battery Tender Plus "LIMITED" 10 year warranty, and found out they (Deltran) wants a $9.95 "handling" fee (if you have had the charger over 90 days), and if you have the original sales receipt, if you want to send it in for repair.
If you don't have the original receipt, then it is a $15.95 "handling" fee no matter how long you have had it.
Having wasted about 2weeks fiddling with 2different batteries and 2different chargers all because the Deltran Battery Tender Plus did not work correctly in the first place, I am not about to spend another $15.95 "handling" fee (because I don't have the original receipt) plus shipping (maybe $10.00) to return it to Deltran for exchange/repair, and then wait another week or two to get the charger back and have to hope that it now works correctly.
Deltran also told me that since I did not buy the Battery Tender Plus in question directly from them, I would need to send it back to where I originally purchased it. Not having the original receipt (because I bought it someplace online and don't remember where), I asked Deltran what's the difference where I purchased it since they (Deltran) are the manufacturer and supply the warranty as well, and I was told that "it is the same as trying to return a Chevrolet to a Ford dealership". That I don't understand, because if a person has a problem with a Chevrolet, they can take it to any Chevy dealer in the country and have it fixed (and maybe any GM dealer).
They also said in so many words that I should have known sooner that the charger was defective, which must mean that their "technical" department is not fully competent to be advising anyone, and that I should have not paid any attention to their suggested remedies in the first place.
Because of the investment of time and money I now have in this Battery Tender Plus, and the poor "technical" support I received from Deltran, I would never buy another one and would not recommend it to anyone else. Their 10 year "LIMITED" warranty is also a joke. Battery Tender PlusSucks! It should be called Battery Tender Negative!.

This little gizmo is dynamite.I have a 4 year old Accord that, due to circumstance, only has about 4400 miles.

I have an older version of this charger that I bought in the mid 90's. I used it to maintain my garaged Mustang's battery over the winter months for many years. I made a cigarette lighter adapter so all I needed to do was to plug it in instead of using the alligator clips. I have to say this thing is dead reliable! It always kept my battery in prime condition. I love it and recommend it highly.Honest reviews on Battery Tender 021-0128 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger
I bought one, for my own use and spent much time reading Deltran's website, and the finally the info that came with the Deltran unit.Over all, Works well, made well (vented metal case).

I recently purchased a Deltran Battery Tender Plus (they are made in China) battery charger for a total cost of $63.30. It has never worked correctly from the first day I got it. It charges great, but it never goes into the "storage" mode, or notifies you that the battery is at 80% charged. It apparently just keeps charging the battery whether it needs it or not.I contacted Deltran's "technical" department a few times about the problem, and told them that I suspected the charger was faulty, but they kept telling me it was the battery, or "check this" or "check that" or "the weather was too cold" (in Florida), even though I had told them the battery was new. A problem with online orders for electronic stuff, like this, is you never know if it'll be a cheap knock off or not (I've been so burned--through Amazon, yet). But this Belkin surely seems of Belkin's usual high quality and I've used it a couple of times and it works superbly. Great price, too. Buy name band and buy quality, I guess.
It does an excellent job at charging. You know it's on because of the light it has built in. It goes flush against the DC plug.
Excellent and portable little unit. I carry it around in my travel pack because it takes up so little room.
It was until recently that I had the opportunity to order this Belkin car charger and I can confirm it was definitely quite the upgrade!
The first thing I liked was the size, the charger is pretty much the size of the cigarette lighter and only sticks out enough for you to see the green light when plugged and for you to connect the included USB cable. It does not take more room than required, that's a good thing for me. The USB cable included is designed for iPhone 4s and below, it also works with my regular iPod classic. I have to thank whoever designed this product because the USB cable they included does consider the fact that many iPhone/iPod users like to keep their devices in protective cases, the cable included is designed after the size of the original factory charger and the connector is long enough so it fits regardless of the case you may be using (after having to remove the protective case for years so I could charge my iPhone and iPod this is a most welcome change!)
Now that we have established the fact that the product is practical, how does it perform? The product description claims the charging times are faster. Well, after several tests I got an average time of charge of 1.15% per minute, using an iPhone 4 and an iPod classic. So say if you charge your device for an hour, you will get about 69% of battery. It is definitely slower than charging using a speaker dock, a computer or a power outlet, but in case of an emergency, it is good enough for me.
I have read you can use the charger with other USB devices, for my review, all tests were made with an iPhone 4 and an iPod classic (160GB)
Would I recommend it? Yes! The price is right, performs well and it is very practical to use in my car!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Kensignton iPhone car charger I had been using for years still performed well, but since it was originally intended to be a charger and an accessory for a remote control (that no longer works) it was bulky and had an extra AUX cable attached to it that I wasn't really using. It was until recently that I had the opportunity to order this Belkin car charger and I can confirm it was definitely quite the upgrade!

AVB USB Car Charger for iPod Shuffle Reviews
This device is well-designed and works well. It's small enough to keep in the glove compartment or other storage area in your car. It fits snuggly into the power outlet on my dash and doesn't come loose while the vehicle is in motion.
I've found that this device delivers enough power to charge multiple devices that I own -my phone, a PDA, and several different types of music players. One thing to keep in mind is that not all devices have a USB cord that delivers power for charging. However, it's important to note that this device can charge devices other than iPod Shuffles, as long as the power requirements are not too high. Given that USB is a low-power connection, it should work with many devices.
As with all things "iPod", this device is white, which becomes a bright eyesore on the car's dashboard. I would have preferred something black, but color is not an option.
Maybe my shuffle die because of me. Don't leave anything plugged into this when starting your car, some cars outputs a spike of energy when starting. This may have killed my shuffle. Or maybe leaving it plugged in charging and listening at the same time. I heard this is not recommended too.
So maybe my poor decision killed my shuffle, but it doesn't change the fact that this thing was cheaply made.
