[Aftermarket Product] Brand New Sync Syncing Battery Charging Review
It does the job. Just a charger as well as a desktop base for the Galaxy Nexus. It doesn't fit with a cover installed. It is very stylish and matches with the phone.

The IC-A6, in my opinion, is a poorly designed unit. I'll use my old Icom unit as a comparison to indicate how the IC-A6 is the opposite of new and improved.
The IC-A6 is my second Icom radio. I purchased my first Icom somewhere in the '90s. I regret that I don't remember the model number, but it was somewhat larger than the IC-A6, gave me 12 years of good service, and was superior in every respect, including the size. How can larger be better? Read on, I'll explain.
As I said, the IC-A6 is smaller than the old unit. This would be a nice feature, but Icom completely negated any size advantage with bad belt hook design. It's a huge alligator-clip device. To hold the radio in your hand with that monstrosity on it is awkward. The older and larger unit was much more comfortable to operate despite its larger size.
The next un-improvement I'll discuss is the battery. On the old unit, the port for the trickle charger is on the battery. So I could charge a spare battery while I ran the radio on a primary battery. On the IC-A6, the charging port is on the radio itself. I can still carry a spare battery, but I can't charge it unless it's actually installed in the radio. I think this is just plain stupid design.
Here's another un-improvement related to the battery: The old unit had a red light to indicate the battery was taking a charge. There is no such indication on the IC-A6 to indicate that charging is taking place. I have plugged the charger into the IC-A6 and left it overnight only to discover it was plugged into a dead outlet.
And, speaking of battery charge, when operating the radio there's no battery gauge other than an indication on the display that shows only when the battery is about to expire. Nothing to give any indication of how much operating time you might have left on the current battery. And if you do switch to a fresh battery, you lose the belt clip. The clip is held with two screws to the battery rather than to the radio case.
The next un-improvement--adding a lanyard: My old Icom radio had a lug on each side that would fit small metal key rings that made it easy to attach a lanyard. I usually used a camera strap or banjo strap, the kind with the clip on each end. Worked great for carrying the thing around your neck so there was no risk of dropping it out of a hot-air balloon or losing it on the floor of a cockpit. But the IC-A6 has only a tiny little hole on one corner that doesn't fit any kind of metal ring that I can find. It only accepts the flimsy little carrying strap provided with the unit, or a thin piece of string slipped thru this awkward tiny hole, which can then be tied to an appropriate lanyard.
So. . . after all that, how does my IC-A6 perform? In a word, inadequately. Reception is broken up far more than other radios when several hand-held radios are in proximity and receiving the same transmission. I do not know if this is only my unit or if all IC-A6s behave the same way. Another complaint is that when I have spent an afternoon programing the unicom and tower frequencies of several airports into the IC-A6 memory using the airport identifiers for the display, the radio loses the information within 24 hours. Time wasted programing, and time wasted looking up and setting frequencies while flying.
I would not recommend buying this, or the IC-A24 radio, which uses the same case. I have no opinions of other current Icom models, as I have no experience with them, but from first hand experience, I consider the IC-A6 to be a piece of junk.
Pros: The frequency lock stays locked when the radio is turned off.
Cons: Clumsy to hold, can't charge battery if it's out of the radio, no charging progress indicator, can possibly damage battery from overcharging. Difficult to add a lanyard, unreliable performance.

I did a reception comparison some time back, and the A6 came out way ahead of the other scanners. Although the A6 is technically not a scanner, I am currently using it as a scanner. However, as the other commenter pointed out, the keyboard is somewhat cryptic and not so obvious how to use it. I didn't find the manual all that bad, but I can see how it can be difficult to follow. For product quality I would give this a 5 star, but for user friendliness may be 3 stars. My comparison of the scanners is here:Best Deals for Icom IC -A6 Com Radio
It's a great radio. I use it as my only comm in a Champ with no electrical system along with a FlightTech ITC-401TC intercom. An LED or other indicator showing that the battery is really charging/charged when plugged into the wall charger would be a nice addition. Also, the manual is poorly written, especially the programming instructions. This radio has a reputation as being hard (impossible!) to program, which I shared until I found a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to do it. Once you understand the logic and key sequences, it's not that hard. Sarasota Avionics was a little slow getting the radio shipped, but it still arrived on time.Honest reviews on Icom IC -A6 Com Radio
I was caught between the A6 and the Yeasu 310 and went with the A6 for two reasons. My instructor had an older (and better btw) ICOM and swore by it. I also chose the A6 as it has more accessories available. Now that I have tested it for a day I can say I am not impressed. For the money this is not worth it. I will back everyone else up with the two worst elements; no battery indicator for charging or anything else other than almost dead and a horrible manual. It uses a NiCad battery so it really does need a battery indicator ICOM. Also, the manual is useless. Just toss it out when you get the radio. Frustrating but I am considering returning this and giving the Yeasu a shot. Not cool ICOM! Way to aim low!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Icom IC -A6 Com Radio
This radio has been a staple around our airport for some time now. We use them for airport operations, snowplow communications and lawn mowing equipment. In fact, the control tower people jokingly refer to it as their "number 2 com" (a monitor radio controllers can use while going "number 2"). It is a solid unit with a nice, big easy-to-read display. Reliability has been very good; I don't think I've ever sent one out for repair. When it wears out, you can use it as a wheel chock, but that won't happen anytime soon. Battery life is reasonable (not as long-lived as the Vertex but decent). Drop-in charger is a nice option to purchase. Be careful not to over-charge the nickel-metal batteries or they will not last. I would like to see a better battery meter on this unit but that's about my only complaint. Well... that and I wish it had a hi/lo power switch like some of its predecessors had. It's a lower cost alternative to permanently mounted equipment, especially if you are leasing, but an outside antenna on a vehicle ia a must-have accessory. This unit also has the headset adapter as a standard accessory (a $60 option which little brother A14 doesn't come with). Buy an A24 if you're going to use it airborne if VOR reception is important to you but the A6 fits the bill for me.Jim K.

Gave it 4 out of 5 only because it was not fully assembled on arrival. The 2 small nuts and bolts that retain the fuse holder were rolling around loose inside the case. Lucky they were both inside and by removing the end cap on the unit I was able to complete the assembly. Very happy with the way it works now. It's very quiet and cool running. It powers a 90watt laptop adapter and a GPS nonstop 10 to 16 hours at a stretch. Also with my old inverter my laptop battery would get very warm to the touch. Not so with this one battery stays cool and charged. F.Y.I. ran a #12 wire with inline 15 amp fuse from my battery to the power socket in the dash on my truck trying to help my old inverter function better so I continued to use the socket plug on this new one instead of hard wiring it to the battery.Best Deals for Energizer 84023 200-Watt Power Inverter
seems like a good inverter, but the cord disconnected from the plug, directly out of the package. I had to re-solder the wire and connection. It is just too much of a hassle to send back, i discarded the packaging thinking it would work.Discount Mobile Warming Classic Softshell Women's Snowmobile Jacket - Black
bought for use under motorcycle jacket. the color was pretty and true to shown, and jacket itself is well made. neoprene around sleeves have a thumb hole. hearty YKK? zipper, top has a lil flap to cover. 3 heating areas are small (@ 3"x4") 1 over each side of breastbone, and 1 over top/mid of back. the jacket does produce good heati put on a tank top, t-shirt, and turtleneck tee and could still feel heat but significantly less with each layer. add a sweater and you could barely feel the warmth, even with a heavy jacket over this one. i was sent the cypress model first by mistake (i'm posting review for that one too) helmet city was very professional and gracious in correcting. in order to feel heat best, wear with only a single light layer or two, and order smallest size possible as the tighter and closer fitting the better you'll feel heat. i'm petite 5'2", 114#, size 4/6 and ordered medium for layering, but reordered a small which fit better, and XS would have likely fit too for a light layer, but i hate "too" tight clothes. the heat only lasts an hour or two on 100%, a little longer on each lower setting of 75, 50 & 25%. i bought a back up battery and charger too. battery holds charge well just sitting there for days.
all in all though i am exchanging it for the warming shirt in men's size XS or XXS because the base layer heat will work much better for my needs because i sometimes need lots of layers on the motorcycle in winter, and still hoping this may cut a few out so i don't feel like the lil kid on a christmas story or the michelin man! or at least keep me from freezing at 30 degrees again...
the 3 star rating is because of my personal needs; it is a nice product.

As someone who has worked on and used commercial Motorola radio equipment, I do have a bias for Motorola. Granted these FRS radios are nowhere near the quality and durability of those heavy duty higher power commercial units, but for the price you pay, they perform as expected. The MR350 has all the features one would want for emergency or other communication on most outdoor activity. Although the radio did not have the heavy duty solid feel of a competitor I tried recently, it did quite well on a recent rainy day hike. Perhaps the light weight, "plastic" feel of this unit is an advantage when traveling light.

I gave these radios 4 stars because I learned at a later time that these were not useable with repeaters. However, I take some of the blame for that as well because I did not do enough research to realize some can and some can't. Moving on though, the value pak I think is pretty complete with charging adapters for the home as well as the car. The battery packs appear to have plenty of capacity for many hours of use. The VOX sttings and Headset is convenient as is the removable clip. I found the menue to be easy to use and all the buttons work as described in the instructions. I will use these for hunting, camping and other outdoor activities, however, since I havn't been out with them yet I don't know what kind of range I will get. I do go places that have partial obstruction.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Motorola MR350RVP 2-Way FRS/GMRS Radio, Value Pack

Buy Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapter, Black
I'll start with the good: It looks good, feels relatively sturdy, and does put out 5 volts over USB. Now for the bad: First off, the red LED that comes on is WAY too bright. I wouldn't want to drive at night with it on, which is annoying. Also, While i was testing it, i noticed that the unit felt warm after only 2-3 minutes of charging. It was emitting a burning electronics smell. thats not good! So, considering that the device cost less than 3 bucks, i just took it apart to see what was up....
The device uses an MC34063a voltage converter chip. This chip is tinymaybe 5mm by 2.5mm. This is the source of the heat!!!! I plugged my Droid X into the charger (which was connected to 12v through an ammeter) and after 5-10 minutes of charging, the surface of the chip was 186 degrees F. Not only is this insane, it's also way past the operating range of the chip (about 150 degrees). At this time the charger was pulling .5 to .6 of an amp from the power source to charge the phone.
While technically it works, i wouldn't rely on it. I doubt it will last long considering how hot it gets.
In my older Infiniti, I have to twist the adapter to find the sweet-spot to get it to hold a charge in the cigarette lighter. I think the problem may lie more with my car than the adapter, though. Once I find the sweet-spot, the adapter works just fine.
When I used the adapter in a 1996 Camry, I had a different result. The adapter worked just fine immediately. I tried twisting the unit to recreate the problem from the first car, but it never lost charge. I actually ran into an unexpected problem. The 1996 Camry has a recessed cigarette lighter, and the nice, small adapter fit into it absolutely flush -so flush that I couldn't pull it out. I ended up having to loop string around the adapter and pull it out that way (worked like a charm).
The adapter seems to work just fine, and I have no problem recommending this for purchase -just make sure your car doesn't have an overly-recessed lighter.
Essentially, this adapter converts your cigarette lighter port into a USB port. The adapter is called "mini" due to its general size as it is much less bulkier than your regular car adapters/chargers. Thus to help with those that may still be confused, the port is not for a mini-USB connector, as it sports a standard USB port. You will need to also purchase a seperate USB cord for charging. For my HTC Evo, I bought a micro USB to standard USB cord which works perfectly so far. Great product and very affordable!
Also, this charger doesn't fit flush in the dash like I had hoped. It goes in all the way to where the lip is near the front.
Last, there is an extremely bright blue LED that remains on whether a device is plugged in or not. Normally, I LOVE blue LED's but this is similar to having one of those mini LED flashlights shining out from your dash.
The one plus is that it was cheap but if you're looking for a plausible USB iPhone charger, I would look elsewhere.

The adapter arrived just as it looks in the picture, and it sports a much better form-factor than the clunky alternatives found on Amazon. It's worth noting that the black circle next to the USB input is a blue LED indicator light, letting you know that the device has power. However, the blue light is rather bright. While I like the blue light, some might find it distracting when driving at night; it lights up a good bit of the car.In my older Infiniti, I have to twist the adapter to find the sweet-spot to get it to hold a charge in the cigarette lighter. Although, these are nice and cheap, I've had two die on me after a month or so. The fuses seems to be okay. They both just stop charging and the light no longer illuminates. In one of the product reviews... the person mentioned that the big light on the front is blue, but on the version I recently bought from the Eforcity storefront, it illuminates red (which is fine by me). The light turns on immediately once it is plugged into a running car. I have yet to charge my device fully in the car, so I don't know if the light changes color or not. This is a great idea and I was very excited about receiving my chargers (got two of them) but was very disappointed after plugging in my iPhone. Although it will "charge" the phone, I am very concerned about the power it's throwing out. Both the charger and the phone get extremely hot and on some cases, the phone will rapidly cycle in and out of "charge mode."Also, this charger doesn't fit flush in the dash like I had hoped. I am looking for an inverter to run small loads in our solar powered home called an earthship. Our main inverter, Outback FX2024, has about 60 watts of "no-load" power consumption.
I just quickly hooked up the Duracell inverter to my 12VDC source (a 24V to 12V DC-DC converter capable of over 240 watts, Solar Converters Inc EQ 12/24-20) via a light socket. The only things I could run were the antenna for Internet and and the Netgear Wireless Router MR814v2. The power adapter for the ASUS K52F-A1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Dark Brown) required too much surge current and the inverter immediately shuts down with "E0.0" error code which is undocumented. We also have a Fantech SHR 1505R Heat Recovery Ventilator, HRV, that draws about 120 Watts that immediately causes a LO Voltage Error "E01".
I'm going to tap in directly to the 12DC source to see if voltage drop accross the lines is the culprit... OK much better! A direct tap into the 12VDC fusebox allows the inverter to run all of the above devices. It also runs my REMstar Plus M Series with C-Flex. The only problem is the Fantech HRV makes an increasingly loud humming sound so I'm not going to run it off this inverter (it may need a true sinewave inverter). So I am giving 4 out of 5 stars, but it is not necessarily Duracell's fault.
I really like the screw terminals. I can easily hook up some Romex wire to the thing. Now we'll see how it holds up over time. It's currently running Internet antenna, router w/WAP, laptop computer AND my CPAP! Not bad!
I got this because it didn't make sense to run a 2,000 watt true sinewave inverter to power a 60 watt load (all the above sans HRV). The no-load power consumption alone is 60 watts! The Duracell inverter has 2.4 watts of no-load power consumption.
UPDATE Dec 20 2012: DO not use the New Trent ultrasonic cleaner with this unit!
It will blow it our because it is a modified sine-wave, not a true sine wave inverter.
It worked, but it kept beeping to tell me there was a problem.

I've had 3 power converters in the past. Two died because the internal fuses did not blow but the units did and one black and decker wouldn't put out enough power to keep my laptop running. This unit has been flawless and with the terminals instead of the cigarette lighter adapter I hard wired it to bypass the car key. It is small enough to sit at the ready tucked into my glove compartment. This is the best one for the job.Best Deals for Duracell 813-0207 200 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter
I bought this so I could plug in my laptop cord while travelling. It does the job. I can recharge most any small appliance I have while on the road. I love having A/C current available whereever I need it. I use this to recharge my camera battery and it never fails me. Of course, they say you can power a small TV with this, but I'm not much for watching TV while I drive so I never tried it.Honest reviews on Duracell 813-0207 200 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter
Digital display is useful. A bit touchy if your car battery is a little low. Mine was at 10.5 V.It worked, but it kept beeping to tell me there was a problem.

I think this product is ok if you don't want an expensive charger. It charges my phone right, but it's not very durable. I haven't used it much but the plastic ends on the cable seems to be separating.Discount Schumacher SP3 3 Amp Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer

I purchased one of these to charge some sealed lead acid batteries, and it works like a champ. Hook it up to the battery, plug it in and let it do its thing.
That being said, there are a couple of quirks the user should be aware of. The % capacity display is not at all accurate. It will typically state that a battery is 95% full, then increase slowly until saying it is fully charged, and on maintaining. I used this with several 9Ah 12V batteries, and some 8.5Ah 6V batteries. All of these were tested before & after with a BK Precision 601 professional battery analyzer. The readings never agreed, but that is not necessarily a problem.
BK Precision 601 Battery Capacity Analyzer
While the $400+ BK 601 is a great tool, it is not necessary to know the precise values of capacity, load and no-load voltage or internal resistance (unless you want to know these things of course!) If you are maintaining SLA batteries of a smaller capacity, say anywhere from 3 to 20Ah or so, just hook up the Schumacher and ignore the initial reading. If it says 95%, the capacity might be 80% or might be 45% (I saw readings higher and lower on the 601) No matter. Let the Schumacher charge until it says 'Fully Charged' or 'battery maintaining'. But do not stop charging just yet. At that point, the actual capacity might only be at 95 or 97% (as verified by the 601). Let it go another 15 minutes or half an hour. Then go ahead and disconnect. By that time, nearly all the batteries I tested were at the full 100% according to the BK 601.
If the battery is too far gone, the Schumacher will let you know. There are a few batteries here and there that will accept a charge from the Schumacher, but may not perform as well as new batteries. Outside of a professional analyzer, there is not much you can do about them. They will work, but may only have 90% or so of the charge. The Schumacher does as best as it can with them.
It also oworked well at auto-detecting 6V batteries. Very simple to use, and for easy operation and good performance, and a great price, I give it 5 stars. Just be aware of its limitations.
It is pretty large, but still only about a quarter the sise of a car charger. It's roughly the size of a brick, and has a big LED readout that tells you what it's doing readable from a good distance.
So far, I've only used the alligator clips for my motorcycle battery, but this also comes with a connector that you can attach permanently to the battery and has a simple connector to the charger cord. That means you don't have to remove the seat to hook up the charger. That seems pretty useful, and if I ever decide to unhook my battery and risk losing all the settings on my stereo, I'll install it.
I think something like this is essential in places that have a proper winter that keeps you from riding for weeks at a time.

I love his little charger. I had been using old technology that only displays amperage. This charger shows you voltage and percentage of charge. Automatically selects battery voltage and type. Maintains battery at correct voltage and current to keep it float charged and avoid overcharging and damage. It's a keeper! Keep in mind it is a maintenance charger, not a high current deep charger.Honest reviews on Schumacher SP3 3 Amp Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer

Discount HTC Cingular 8525 Car Charger / Vehicle Charger
This thing is extremely fragile. It broke down the seam a month after I purchased it.
I bought two of these, so I know it wasn't just one that's a fluke. And I know it's not the phone, because every other USB-plug charger I use works like a champ. I guess for a penny I can't really complain. It's just frustrating because even the one from the AT&T store was junk too, and that one cost $30!
Can't beat the price.

Works as advertised. Charger fits my old Cingular 8525 just fine, but the poor thing just doesn't want to move much juice. Useful for keeping a dying phone alive on the road, but you'll want a wall plug for any semblance of progress when charging.Best Deals for HTC Cingular 8525 Car Charger / Vehicle Charger
This product works well with my bluetooth headset, but works only intermittently with my 8525. Most often when I plug it into my phone, the phone lights up as though it knows it's plugged in, but it doesn't charge. I think the charger is not delivering the right amount of current to the phone, but must be for the headset.I bought two of these, so I know it wasn't just one that's a fluke. First off the people here are great the first charger I received was broken when I got it prolly due to a shipping error so all I had to do was right an email and tell them it was busted and they shipped me a brand new one not questions asked. The new charger works great and is small enough to fit in the smallest of areas in your car for the ppl like me who dont have center consols. Overall the charger is works great and the people are awesome would diffently do business again.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for HTC Cingular 8525 Car Charger / Vehicle Charger
