I like the numerous automatic features...no 6 or 12 volt switch (so no accidents), automatically senses the battery type, has thermal protection, charge abort if battery problems among other desirable features. Nice long cords and strong, good quality clamps. I use to maintain cycle battery over winter. Also, as I make many short trips to work and elsewhere, I will use once a month to charge car battery and be sure it is up to full charge. I don't remove the cables from the battery to charge on car as the low 1.5 amp will do no damage to any circuitry while charging battery. At least on my vehicle. Just what I wanted and would recommend. 2 yr warranty

This charger has performed perfectly for charging & maintaining my lawn tractor battery. The older lawn tractor battery would not charge using my regular car battery charger & a smaller charger that I was using for this purpose. I purchased this charger & it charged this older battery perfectly! I was pleasantly surprised & it saved me from having to buy another battery. This is by far the best battery charger for the size & price. I would highly recommend this charger for this type of battery. I have not tried it on larger batteries so can not comment here. Buy this charger, it's great!

I've had this charger for a little over 9 months and used it 3 or 4 times on our car. I like it's compact size and the 3 lights, power on (red), charging (yellow) and charged (green). I also bought the Schumacher EC-25 25' Cable Connector Extension Cord.

I don't what the difference is between this model and the Schumacher SEM-1562A 1.5 Amp Speed Charge Maintainer (which costs less) but keep in mind before you buy that other model#, it notes the Proposition 65 warning (for California residents).

Honest reviews on Schumacher PS-1562A DSR ProSeries 1.5 Amp 6/12 Volt Automatic

For over two months, this unit has kept a spare marine battery topped up without issues. The status indicator LEDs are useful and accurate, but I have some doubt about the durability of the plastic case over the long term.

I needed a battery charger to keep the battery on my standby generator fully charged. When the generator runs, it charges the battery. If you don't exercise the generator for a while, the battery doesn't have enough power to start the engine. Now you must pull the rope to get it started.

The PS-1562A DSR charger can be permanently connected to the battery terminals because it has ring terminals that the battery terminal bolts will fit through. The connector has a few feet of wire and a plug on the end. It also comes with alligator clips on a different cable and plug assembly. The charger can be left on all the time, because once the battery is fully charged, the electronics senses this and cuts to power to a float charge, which will maintain the battery at full capacity. It automatically senses whether the battery that you connect is 6 volts or 12 volts. There is no switch to set.

I recommend that when you need to start the generator, unplug the power cable to the battery to prevent the starter motor from damaging the charger. I also recommend you order the 25 foot extension cord with matching plugs at each end so you can plug the charger into a receptacle that isn't next to the equipment.

I ordered it from Amazon and received it in about four days and it was undamaged and was as advertised.

I recommend this charger for any battery charging need with a small 6 or 12 volt battery, such as used in generators, tractors, motorcycles and the like. You will never have a dead battery when you need the equipment to operate.

I strongly recommend buying this charger.

I have purchased, used and tested every lightweight solar charging device on the market that I could find. The Goal0 nomad 7 and Guide 10 set is the only one that works sufficiently that I can be completely off the grid with my backpacking devices and have no need for extra batteries. See below for solar panels tested. I have been testing portable solar panels for several years now, and the Goal 0 products are the best.

The Nomad 7 is the only solar panel that has the capability to charge an adequate battery pack, my headlamp AAA's, AND my smartphone/GPS all in the same day in full sunlight. It is the only panel that has reserve capacity to charge my devices in less than full sun (shady/cloudy). No other panel has the output of the Nomad 7. Its closest competitor is the Brunton panel. The Brunton weighs 20% more and is rated to output 30% less than the Nomad 7 (Brunton = 5 watts, Nomad 7 = 7 watts). In my testing the lower output was verified. The off-axis performance of the Nomad 7 is superior. It maintains full output to a greater angle of sun than any other panel I have tested. The Nomad 7 is the only panel, in my knowledge, that uses the more efficient mono-crystalline panels. It does seem to give it an edge in real-world usage. As far as flexibility, that characteristic has nothing to do with panel efficiency. Another of the well-thought out features of the Nomad 7 is the connection options. The Xpal SP-2000 and the Solio both rely on many different tips to connect to different devices. The Nomad 7 has three great options built in: 6.5 volt fast charge for the Guide 10 charger, 5 V USB connector, and a port that the included 12V female car lighter adapter plugs into. Every portable device has the option of an inexpensive car power adapter, and the Nomad 7 nicely offers that ability.

The Guide 10 charger works to its rated specifications, unlike most of the other solar devices I have used. It charges AA and AAA batteries. It charges them faster with the Nomad 7 than any other solar panel/charger combination that I have tested. The Goal 0 batteries that ship with the Guide 10 are the best of their type I have tested. They are low-discharge, like the Eneloops, but much better. The Eneloops are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge only to about 1900 mAh capacity. The Goal 0 are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge to 2200 mAh. The guide 10 has some very well thought out features, including the LED flashlight, the function switch and the built-in hanging loop. These touches all demonstrate that the designers are users, and thought well about how these devices would be used.

All is not perfect, though. The Guide 10 does have an overheating problem, but only in very strong sunlight and under certain conditions. This is a known issue that is being fixed as I write this. This brings me to one of my most important experiences; customer service. Goal 0 has the best customer service by far than any other of the solar panel manufacturers I have tested in this group. Immediate phone contact, responsiveness to questions and warranty service are far and away some of the best I have experienced.

Following is a list of the solar panels I have tested, and short comparison comments on each.

1. Powerfilm USB + AA: This one has a great form factor, is flexible and very durable, and is the lightest weight and most compact of all the solar chargers. Its fatal flaw is that it simply does not put out enough power to be practical in extended backpacking. It does not fully charge the AA batteries when it indicates a full charge, and is not nearly as flexible as the Nomad 7 for connection. The unit was replaced on warranty, but the replacement performed exactly the same. I tested a total of four of these, and all performed the same. Customer service was good, after spending weeks trying to get their attention, and this happened several times.

2. Solio Classic: This one has a nice form factor, but the unit simply does not charge its internal battery nor a connected device at all adequately. Just in case, I had it replaced on warranty and the replacement performed exactly the same.

3. Xpal Power SP-2000: Same as the Solio. Internal battery rated at 2000 mAh, only charges to about 1100-1300. Not enough power overall to be practical. Very good customer service.

4. Brunton Explorer: A good panel, but not enough overall power. Weighs 20% more than the Nomad 7, output is 30% less.

I've been using this SOLAR panel for a few years without any problems. There seems to be alot of mixed reviews for the SOLAR panel and I'm not sure why. To clear up a little confusion for the SOLAR charger I've listed the most common complaints and explained them below. As you can see, SOLAR panel will be in caps for the duration of the review for reason...

#1 It is a SOLAR panel. Many customers are upset that charging stops when the sun goes away. It is NOT a SOLAR/Cloud charger. While it's possible for the sun to penetrate thinner clouds and continue charging, it's quite possible the speed of such charging will decrease.

#2 Some are upset at the output. It is a small, compact unit designed to take hiking/camping or other places where space is of concern. It is not designed to charge a 12 volt battery. You cannot jump start your car with it. Use common sense when attempting to charge larger items. Which brings us too...

#3 It WILL charge a battery assuming your device is not currently using more power than it can provide. Again, this seems like common sense, however, some underestimate the power draining features of modern phones/tablets such as backlights, screensavers, GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth and networks. Turn your phone off if possible or dissable some or most of those options.

#4 Many people use this on the dashboard of their car. While it is a portable unit, there is a faster and more efficient method. Most vehicles, even old ones have at least 1 12 volt cigarrette lighter output. You can purchase a USB adapter for about $5 to charge your phone, ipad, etc.

#5 It is not durable. I have dropped this off a mountain side, into water and left it in zero degree weather for some time. It shouldn't work....It still does.

Please excuse the sarcastic tone of this review but I believe this product and company deserves some respect and praise for designing such a wonderful SOLAR panel. Thank you!

Since there isn't a lot of detailed info out there about this product, I'll give the obligatory novel-length review.

I actually purchased this on sale for $60 elsewhere, which was quite the steal (it's gone up in price since). I received it yesterday evening, so have had it less than 24 hours and just tried it today about an hour ago on my lunch break. Got it primarily for use with my iPhone 3Gs when camping and hiking this summer. Frankly, I didn't think it would work out of the box for my iPhone because Goal Zero states on their website that the Nomad 7m may or may not work directly with the iPhone and it's best to just buy a battery pack and charge from there. Their documentation also states you should let the panels warm up in the sun a bit before trying to charge anything.

I decided to try worst case scenario and plugged my iPhone in directly right away and stuck the Nomad in my car's front window on a very cloudy, rainy day in Seattle. Nothing happened. No charging, no messages from the phone. Let it sit with my iPhone plugged in for about 15-20 minutes and still nothing, so I unplugged the phone and let the panels continue to warm up in the car window. About 10-15 minutes later, the lower, darker clouds blew away and it was still quite cloudy but noticeably brighter, so I plugged the phone back in and got an error message that the phone didn't support charging from this device (which made me happy because at least SOMETHING was happening). I tried a few more times, got the same message, then decided to let it stay plugged in while I drove back to work. And, LO! About a minute later, I heard that blessed "buzz buzz" the iPhone gives off when it's been plugged into a charger.

My drive back to work was only about 5-6 minutes long and I'd say the charger was only directed toward the sun (still quite overcast) about 2-3 minutes, but the battery went up 1%, so I'm calling that a win. Every time the panels go out of the direct sun, it's the equivalent of unplugging your wall or USB charger, so I'm thinking that investing in the Guide 10 battery pack to harness power is a good idea if you can stand the extra weight. The battery pack itself is the size of an iPhone and the Nomad 7m is just a bit smaller than an iPad and a little over a 1 lb. in weight, so a backpacker might have a hard time justifying carrying around all of this gear.

One commenter asked if the cells were bendable and the answer is no. There's a slight amount of give so that it's not what I would call fragile, but the panels are, presumably, breakable. The case it comes in is sturdy, so I would think you'd have to be pretty rough with it to break anything. Like other reviewers have noted, the case it comes in is well made and there's lots of little hooks to attach it to whatever. Plus, it comes with a small, light caribiner which is handy.

I obviously haven't had this long enough or tried this in enough conditions to give an accurate star rating, but I'm giving it a tentative 4 because I'm pleasantly surprised that it worked directly with my iPhone in such crappy weather conditions, but wondering if the "warm up" time is a first time issue or a consistent issue. Having to wait almost an hour before it starts charging would be kind of a bummer. I may update my review after I know more. Going to try this with an iPhone 4 as well and will include an update if the experience with that is any different.

UPDATE:

Originally gave this 4 stars, just bumped to 5. Finally got a relatively sunny day yesterday and it charged my older generation iPod in 1 hour. Successfully charged an iPhone 3Gs AND an iPhone 4. Note: You have to take the bumper off, or the connection isn't good enough for the iPhone 4 to even recognize the device. It still took warm up time (about 20-30 minutes), but that was with cloud cover coming in and out on a cool day in Seattle. It's incredibly efficient when the sun is beating right down on it. Love this thing. Going to order the Guide 10 battery pack next.

Honest reviews on Goal Zero 12301 Nomad 7M Solar Panel

I bought a Nomad 7 last year. Love it. It makes great power in all conditions.

I liked it so much I decided to pick up a second one to keep in the car. I went through two of them. The first wouldn't make power in full sun (obviously something wrong). The replacement for it, would charge my cell phone (via 12V cigarette lighter adapter) in direct full sun, but not in full sun sitting on my dashboard (something my original Nomad 7 has no problem with). Apparently the glass is reducing the light enough that it cannot get the power high enough to charge.

Needless to say, both were returned and I guess I am not going to get a second one. The first one is great, but the power output of the subsequent ones has been all over the map. A better job of QC needs to be done before the panels ship out to make sure they perform consistently.

This is bar none the best portable solar charger I've come across. It charges basically anything smaller than an iPad. I've charged countless toys in little amounts of time during hikes in / or fly fishing. Amazing piece of technology. Secondly, their customer service is polite, know their products, and respond quickly to emails / phone calls. This company and their gear couldn't be more highly recommended. It's the best I've found.

This is my second Wagan inverter and couldn't be happier with it. I installed the first one in what I thought was a water proof containment that I made. It's in the shop to be repaired. My fault. No more fighting with your spouse when you hitch up the trailer. I think my wife actually gets some perverse satisfaction out of our hitching sessions. That makes one of us. So when she steps back into the house to grab a jacket (or whatever that "one more thing" is that keeps us from leaving), I quickly snap the magnetic camera onto the tailgate and hitch up the trailer before she makes it back outside.

Yes, it's that fast.

The image quality is great. The display is very clear. You can even reverse the picture to correct for the "my left or the camera's left?" challenge. My only complaint is that there is a little static as you get farther away from the camera (or if the charge is low).

I bought this camera for a specific reason (not to avoid the hitching wars with my wife, because that's actually kind of fun--kind of). The spaces in my RV storage yard are very close together and I have a very bad blind spot on the curb-side of the trailer. This happens to be the side that swings wide when I pull out of my space. One time the rear corner of my trailer hit the mirror of the RV parked next to me. So I bought this camera in hopes of correcting that blind spot.

Although my awning arms are aluminium, there's just enough metal hardware for the camera's magnet to stick to. Then as I'm pulling out of my space (or backing in), I can see how close I'm getting to my neighbor's RV. The picture quality isn't great at that distance, but it's still good enough to help me avoid any more close calls.

I kind of doubt the claim of 300' range. Mine has never worked at even half that distance. I'm lucky to get a signal from the rear end of my 30' trailer, but I'm sure there's a big difference between unobstructed line of sight coverage and bouncing the signal around my trailer and over the bed of my truck (probably about 40'). Honestly though, there's slight signal loss just from sticking it on my tailgate ten feet away.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the product. It's not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than buying another mirror for my neighbor's RV.

I too agree with the other positive reviews on this item, however, there is room for improvement. I needed it to hitch up my RV trailer and for backing up my trailer on the blind sides.

The magnetic camera would not stick to my trailer's aluminum and fiber glass walls. I researched this unit on the net before buying it from another vendor on ebay. The reason being that my unit, same as the one here, came with a complimentary custom storage bag for the unit & all it's accessories, & a suction cup adaptor for the camera which sticks to any part of my trailer. The suction cup adaptor solved any location placement issues I had with the camera & worked great for my trailer.

The other issue is the charging of the camera & monitor. The unit only came with a 12 volt charger for your vehicle, no ac charger, & the unit requires to be fully charged before first use. It is not practical to drive around for hours charging your unit in your vehicle until it is charged. I solved that problem using a Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter I had previously purchased on amazon for about $20. This way I can always charge the unit at home before any outing I need the unit for.

One other useful trick I discovered, which came in handy, is the video out cable the unit came with. The monitor's 2.5" screen is a bit small for backing the trailer on a the blind side next to my block wall I have nearly missed several times in the past. I simply hook the video out cable from the 2.5" monitor to my high resolution Sony 8" portable dvd player & instantly have an 8" screen to look at instead of the 2.5" mini screen. You can hook up the 2.5 monitor to a TV or any other monitor with a video plug in.

Best Deals for Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System

This is a great little unit. Color screen is clear and easy to see. And the instant night vision lets you see clearly at night. I like the magnetic base to mount the camera; you can place it about anywhere. The range surprised me; I have used the screen over 300 feet from the camera.

This thing has more uses then just backup. I use it to monitor my horses in the trailer while driving down the road. And I have used it to keep an eye on cargo in the back of my truck. A++ worth the money.

Honest reviews on Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System

I do like this camera and have used it once to hook up my small travel trailer. As others have mentioned, an improvement would be to have a wide angle camera view until you get closer to your target. I did find that sun glare and shadows affected my view. I quickly found one other handy use for it too: I can view the fill level on my water tank inside the camper when I'm filling up without having to stop and start constantly to go inside and check the water level.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Swift Hitch SH01 Portable Wireless Camera System

I've had the Swift Hitch for a year and have used it about 30 times. It has improved a number of things for me and ultimately may save me money.

When I sold my last tow vehicle the bumper was pretty damaged due to many years of backing up to our trailers and going too far which resulted in scratches, dents, and even holes in the plastic bumper of our Honda Odyssey. The rest of the car was in great shape but the bumper was embarrassing to say the least. When we purchased a new tow vehicle I wanted to keep it looking like new so a back up camera was high on my list. Repairing a bumper could easily cost twice the price of a Swift Hitch.

Of course it also makes quite easy a task that was a bit challenging before. No matter who stood by the trailer to guide me they never fully understood how to give hand signals or exactly how best to position the ball and hitch for proper and easy coupling. This camera eliminates that problem because I now always do the hitching by myself. It was amazing sometimes when the person guiding me would say "okay" and I would get out to find the ball and hitch were no where close to each other. I can man handle my PWC trailer but I have no chance of moving my 4,500 pound boat and trailer by hand. The tow vehicle has to do all the work.

I stick the camera midway up the tailgate of my Toyota 4Runner. That gives me about a 4-5' viewing area so I can see the tongue of the trailer as I back up. Then I can make steering adjustments to center the car to the trailer. Now properly aligned with the tongue that same viewing angle allows me to see exactly how the ball and socket are aligned. I back the SUV up until the ball is just under the front of the trailer hitch, step out and crank the jack down and the trailer falls right onto the ball perfect every time. Swift Hitch is a very good name for this product. My time to align the ball and trailer are reduced to 30 seconds or so. It takes longer to hook up the electrical, chains, and set the lock than it does to back up to the proper spot.

At the end of a boating trip I back my boat into an RV parking place up against a block wall. I want to leave enough space so I can get onto the back of the boat and I certainly don't want to hit the wall. So I take the camera and stick it to the car or RV parked in one of the adjacent parking spots. Then I can back the boat without having to get in and out of the SUV five times to make sure the boat is where I want it to be.

I looked at other back up camera options. Some were nicely designed to fit into the license plate bracket but I was concerned they wouldn't have the correct angle and weren't adjustable. That type also required wiring. The Swift Hitch can be used in many positions and, as advertised, as much as 300' away from the hand held display.

As one other reviewer said I do have trouble with getting a clear image sometimes. I've found that I must sometimes turn things off in the car such as fans, AC/DC inverters, blowers, and other electrical things that interfere with the signal between the camera and display units. Sometimes where I hold the hand held display will eliminate the display noise leaving a very clear high quality picture. This is a minor inconvenience and I suppose would warrant removing one star but frankly this thing is so useful I just overlook this issue.

Update July 15, 2013

Still going strong. The camera is just a standard part of my hitching routine now. I'll be taking the boat out the next four days in a row alone and will have to hitch up each day. I can usually get the boat trailer within 1/2" of perfect on the first try. If it isn't aligned close enough I can just push the trailer to the side with my knee as I crank it down.

I ordered two of this item because I wanted to be sure that I was really getting a Verizon car charger. I paid extra to get the warranty card and Verizon logo/branding. What Accessory Wizard sent me was the unbranded charger. It looks the same except it has no logo, and it has no warranty card.

I wrote to them for a refund of the difference, which they quickly did. That alone was impressive and I am grateful for their helpful service. I love those cheapo stuff Amazon sells, like those USB hubs with SD card reader selling for less than $5.00, a bluetooth USB adapter for less than $3.00 and so on. Most of my purchases of those cheapo stuff from Amazon work fine, but often durability may be an issue, or you don't know what kind of material manufacturers of those cheapo stuff used (they could be super toxic, who knows? Most of them have no valid labels.), or have no idea where to go to get some (or any at all) support.

I bought this iPod charger, not because I needed it, but because the price was so low, I just had to have it. Of course, the shipping was so much more expensive than the actual item. When I received the unit, it was in a clear plastic bag with white label with nothing on it. I opened the bag and plugged it in, and connected my iPod Classic (6G) to this charger. The charger itself was lighting up the red LED inside the white charger casing, making the whole unit looking pink, but nothing was happening to my iPod. I pushed the connector up a bit and for a moment my iPod went into charging mode (the battery icon with a little bolt icon) but as soon as I set the iPod down on the table, the charging icon would go away. I tried a few times, with different iPods that I have, but none of them really worked. There was either jittery connection or no connection at all. Oh well, my two dollars down the drain, and I should have learned the lesson by now... but I never do! These cheapo stuff has such a weird allure to me, and I just keep spending my money on them.

I sometimes laugh when I read other people's review for this type of cheapo stuff that doesn't work. A lot of people get genuinely upset for an item they paid the bottom price for. So, my conclusion is that this charger probably would work if the connector is making a good connection to the iPod's connection plug, but obviously with my copy at least, that is not happening. (I don't want to give these people who's selling these items a bad rap and I have no doubt that these chargers work fine when they do, but I am sure I just got a lemon.) So if you are enticed by the price of this piece, think of it as a gamble. You may get the one that is working perfectly from the start (other cheapo stuff worked for me well), or like mine, not quite working. You can go through the painful procedure of RMA and returning and all that, or save yourself and spend at least $10 for a decent charger (well, maybe $20 to get a real "decent" one). Heck, Apple is charging people $20 for their iPod to USB cable alone... So this charger is a huge huge bargain. Just don't expect this less-than-two-dollar item to be just as good as $20 charger... (You don't expect a 99cent-store screwdriver to last a lifetime, do you?) So there, from my experience, I am giving two stars...

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

First of all. I gave it one star due to the awesome fast shipping. Now as far as the product goes, I bought it for my ipod 80Gig classic, plugged it in and NOTHING! It looks nice though (big deal). Really the only upside is that I am only out $3.81. I noticed on the invoice that it said iphone 3G charger however, when the box arrived it did in fact say ipod. Either way, it does not work. Trust me! This thing does not charge ipod classics. Spend the extra money and buy a charger that you know will work. I would recomend buying from the same carrier because this is the only problem I have ever had with them. NOTE: I found out that if it charges iphones, it will not charge the ipod classic.

I plugged the charger into the wall and it flat out did not work, right out of the package.

Honest reviews on Travel/ Wall Charger w/ IC Chip for Apple iPod 3G / 4G / Video

This product was advertised on the bargaincell web site, and listed on my invoice as an Apple iPod Classic Travel Charger/Wall Charger. It was not! This fact only came to light when I charged my husband's iPod while on vacation. Consequently a $250 device was destroyed because of this falsely advertised bogus $4. charger. I now feel fortunate to have only lost one iPod. Luckily mine didn't need charging. The company did not respond to my inquiry email before purchase nor my complaint email afterward. I'd rate this product a zero, but apparently at least a one star rating is required for submission.

I just received the Whistler XTR 440 and I am impressed at what you get for the money. The unit itself is easy to operate, and full of features found in much higher priced detectors. Visual alerts are conveyed by a blue-backlit LCD text display whose backlighting is adjustable to a variety of configurations. For example, it can be set to appear briefly during alerts and mode changes and remain off the rest of the time to save battery power. The Whistler XTR-440 runs on three AA rechargeable Ni-MH (nickel metal-hybride) batteries. The batteries (which are included) must be charged for about six hours before you use the unit the first time, and the only way to charge them is with the power cord that's included. I suggest buying an ac-dc adapter so you can charge the unit from an electrical outlet indoors instead of leaving it plugged into the car(cigarette lighter plug) any time it needs a charge. It has an auto shut-off feature which kills the power after a user-adjustable delay, so you won't come back to the car and find the detector down for the count. I'm not getting a lot of "false" alarms either, so far I'm impressed. The XTR-440 offers two filter modes to limit false alarms. These progressively increase its resistance to common sources of falses, particularly the poorly shielded local oscillators of older Cobra radar detectors, which seem to be everywhere. I run my 440 on Filter 1 default and with X band off, since New Jersey and Ohio are the only states where X-band radar continues to be found in any number and I don't live there, and it makes for a quiet ride. Finally, The only real difference between this unit (XTR-440) and the higher priced XTR-540 (about $125-$150) is the 540's built in digital compass, so if you can live without that, save the money and get the XTR-440.

First off, I'll say this Radar Detector works admirably. However, for me it was a "must return" item.

The problem was that I could barely get to read the LCD screen on this device during daylight hours. The screen was impossible to read if the sun was high in the sky. The alerts and chirps work fine. It alerted me to the presence of a speed trap on multiple occasions. However, that only does you a little bit of good if you can't make out the words on the screen.

Another pet peeve is the "auto off" alarm. After 60-90 minutes, the unit turns itself off. However, the alert at this time is the loudest and most panicked alarm you'll hear from the device. It seriously scares you. I'd prefer a chirp every 10-15 seconds for a minute or two then an alert as it shuts off. Instead you get an ear piercing high pitched siren like alarm that seriously will startle you ever time.

So, I was not happy. Unit works well enough for a bargain unit under $100, however the poor screen quality made it a poor choice.

Let me start out by saying that this unit has performed admirably at detecting radar, as did my prior Whistler unit.My primary reason for purchasing this unit was the battery feature. The stated 15 hour battery life was the main selling point.Unfortunately I am not getting 1/3 of this battery life despite using the recommended power saver settings. For this reason I could not recommend this detector.Save your money and go for a battery free Whistler Radar Detector

Honest reviews on Whistler XTR-440 Laser/Radar Detector Battery Operated with Built

Detection is mediocre; that's par for the course for Whistler. Don't believe reviews that say that its detection range is on par with Passport. It's not. It's adequate, but not as good as a $500 detector. You get what you pay for.

The battery life is TERRIBLE. Try 45 minutes (!) of battery life compared to 8 hours with the 540. Sad, just sad. Both detectors feature illegible displays when put against daylight. "Periscope" LEDs do nothing to alert you, although max volume is fair enough when listening to music at relatively soft level.

I have a new BMW with only one recepticle in the center console and did not want cords all around. It seems accurate, easy to use, the cord is thin so when plugged in I can easily close the console. The battery life I don't feel is very long, easy to recharge and you don't need to keep buying batteries. I'm certainly not an expert on radar detectors but have had Whistler products before, and have been satisfied. I also felt that for the price it is a great deal.

It was a while before I used this product. I generally keep the MP3 charged. HOWEVER...I have an off he grid camp where everything is rechargable so there are lots of "AA" rechargable batteries with adapters to "C" and "D". BUT there wasn't anything I could do to vastly extend the play time on the MP3. Well there is now! Just as the music stopped I thought, "Well, back to the CDs and cassettes". (I plug the MP3 into a boombox that I've wired several car speakers into). Then I remembered that I had bought this charger just for this application. Saved the day AND I got to look like a genius to my wife who thought this was overkill when I bought it. (All husbands know this kind of thing only happens about as often as a comet coming around where a wife actually admits that the husband has a working brain) I keep it in the camp all the time now. If you're going to be away from a grid source for a while this REALLY a cool and very convenient soulution.

This was a fraction of the price I would have paid elsewhere, but elsewhere (WalMart) did not have any in stock. This arrived just in time for a four day camping trip, so I needed it to keep my phone running. Works great and, like I said, the price was much less than "elsewhere."

This will charge I pod and I phone but not your iPad. Has the same rating as the oem wall wart from apple so that's why I give it a negative review. Like I said though you can keep your friends happy if they have an iPhone cause they can charge theirs too. For that I give it 3 stars. Product seems cheaply made though. Hey ya git what ya pay for.......

While looking to replace the HORRENDOUS iPhone car charger sold to me at an AT&T store with an AT&T logo on it, an employee at BestBuy recommended this model to me and I bought it there. Really enjoyed using it so

I bought my wife one through Amazon. It's sturdy, stays in place and charges fairly quickly. Only reason I don't give it a 5 star is because the cable is fairly short and curly. I like the cord to be straight and long.

The connector to the phone comes loose easily which is really annoying, since then the charging stops. I'm throwing it away and buying a different charger.
