This was exactly the product I was looking for at a reasonable price! I do a few really long bike rides each that go into the night and my Garmin Edge 500, while it has worked flawlessly for 4 years now, the estimated 18 hour battery life needs a charge while on 24 hour rides. Aspect Solar has come along with a game changer for portable power.

Specs total weight is only 25LBS and folds up nicely into a suitcase like package. Set up is easy and getting power even quicker. Real time to get power going (battery was already somewhat powered up) was less that 4 minutes the battery will charge from completely dead to full power in around 5hrs (sunny day) and 9ish hours on a cloudy day. USB sockets, 12V DC socket, AC universal socket and a standard DC input for wall charging all come standard out of the box. The coolest feature is the "Sun Tracking". Once its up and working you never have to reposition the solar panels to get maximum charge, the device will track the sun for you. Super sweet.

The use case scenario for this product is pretty unlimited but here is how I see my self using it -

Emergency lately storms in the US seem to be more and more devastating, with most of the problems coming after the storm not during. If your area has no power for days let alone weeks how are you supposed to keep food protected or communicate to the outside world. This is a must have in your emergency kit.

Outdoor/Cabin

Living in the west provides me with all kinds of outdoor opportunities, knowing that I can take power with me any were means I can do pretty much anything anywhere put it in my cabin for primary or back up power. What this really means is that I can work from anywhere the ski cabin, the fishing cabin or the "I just don't want to be in the office" cabin .

The price while not cheap is definitely affordable especially if you consider what it will do for you.

Aspect Solar's sun-tracking SunSocket(tm) solar generator is portable yet without the 65 plus lbs. of weight to carry around (like they usually have)! it is 25 pounds and whether you are taking camping, to another country, whatever the case might be it is easy to cart around with its light-weight briefcase style.

It also has USB ports that work even when you have folded up your solar panels for the night so you can keep charging your phone, iPad, etc.

It should also be noted that the solar panels stay connected to the briefcase itself keeping set up/take down super easy (there is even an automatic button).

Plus, with the sun-tracking device you are getting a full charge all day without having to take time to adjust on your own.

I like to say that I wish when I bought this charger, I bought another one that I can plug on the wall outlet when I'm in a hotel in the US. However, there is the danger of leaving your cellphone still plug-in on the wall when you're in a hurry on checking-out. I mainly bought this charger, that hopefully will last longer, because when my cellphone run out of charged battery during my car trouble on the road, I have a way of recharging it in the car and calling the tow truck. Maybe, I should buy another cellphone battery as a back-up.

This solar charger is nice because it has a big backup battery. I use mine for my iPhone 4 and my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

With iPhone:

I get around 3 charges to my iPhone when this battery is at 100%. Usually I get it to 100% using the USB cable, but when I'm not next to power, or if I'm feeling environmental, I charge in the sun. It's practical to get a full iPhone charge after leaving in the sun for about 5 hours.

Solar Charging: I've used this on the dashboard, at the beach and at Coachella 2012!!!!! All instances had mixed results. I found that having this on my blanket at the beach for around 4 hours got two bars, which ended up giving me about 90% boost to my iPhone 4 and then some. On my dashboard it gets to 4 bars if I leave it there for 2 days, but I don't usually do that. It seems like the dashboard ALMOST fully charges it, but I can tell its probably actually at about 90% full at about 10+ hours of dahsboard time. At Coachella I had this thing on the carabiner on my backpack and was moving around all day. It gave me about 60% charge to my iPhone when I needed it(at nigth). I think I was in the sun for about 5-6 hours, but moving around a lot.

With Galaxy Tab 10.1: It give around 40% charge to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which I've used on the airplane for back up power. I charge the tab with POWER OFF so it can give more juice. 40% to the tab is a few hours of extra video/games/etc, so its definitely cool for a boost.

Using USB charging: If you connect it to your computer, it seems like 6 hours is the right amount of time to get 4 bars full. I've used it with my iPhone charger too, and it seemed like 4-5 hours. Either way, just check the status using the big button.

Flashlight: I haven't needed this BUT ONCE. I was checking my oil at night and had this handy. One REALLY COOL thing was that the battery was at 0%. No reaction to pressing the flashlight. THEN, I left it in sunlight for literally 1 minute to see if the light got any power. Sure enough the LED flashlight lit up for about 30 seconds before dimming. I think LED lights are low power, but WOW thats a pretty fast charge. More of justa fun experiment for my use, but it could be cool for camping(says 36 hours of light off a full charge/not tested by me)

Sorry if my review was all over the place, but I hope some of this helps. I've used this thing to give boosts to my friends' phones and their immediate reaction was that this is a cool gadget. Also, I got some intriguing glances at the beach and security line at Coachella. It's definitely an eye catcher, but best of all it comes through for me when i need it. I ahve to be honest, I use it most by charging it by USB, then carrying it for power to use later, but having the option of solar is great AND it works. It feels nice, looks nice, works nice, price is good, accessories like the suction cups and carabiner are cool. All in all, nice product. Let's see how long it lasts...

I was looking for a solar recharger for long bike rides and hiking/camping/mountaineering etc. This works great! When I got it, I fully charged it using USB as recommended, and then tried to fully drain it. I charged my phone, iPod, and finally had to hook up my MotoACTV and let it run with Bluetooth and GPS enabled. Amazing capacity on this thing!

It is a bit difficult to actually fully charge this thing on solar alone, but it does well enough to charge up my phone and MotoACTV at the end of the day. The included locking biner is a nice touch. It isn't climbing spec, but it is a lot lighter than a climbing locker.

And a note on customer serviceThis comes with a protective film on the panel. I went to take it off, and the top was actually tucked under the case. I thought maybe it was supposed to be permanent and I screwed up trying to remove it, so I emailed support. I had a response in minutes. I wrote later asking about additional panels, and again, a response in minutes.

Final noteit comes with a part for hooking up additional panels, and the manual states you can buy additional panels, but they don't actually make the panels yet (as of 6/13/12).

Alright, let's get what you're thinking out of the way first: you think this thing looks flimsy and will break the first chance it gets, or it won't work period. Wrong.

That's what I though after taking it out of the box. Its a light unit, it does not feel like there is a battery/electronics in there at all. But this thing works beautifully! Some of the reviews mention that it takes hours for the unit to solar charge, and that it might melt if you leave it on your dashboard in the sun. Not true. I live in Georgia. The summers here are HOT. Getting in your car after leaving it in the July sun is like climbing into your oven at home. On a recent day trip I left the charger on my car's dashboard in the July sun, and it had charged to full during the two hours I was gone from my car. And it did not melt into my dashboard.

On another day trip my Droid Razr was dying (poor battery life is the norm for that phone), and I simply pulled the charger from my pack, plugged in my Micro USB cable, and put the battery unit in the pocket of my shorts along with my phone. It didn't feel clunky or anything, and it charged my phone. What more can you ask for?

This is a great charger for the money, especially when you compare it to other solar batteries like the GoalZero ones. I'm sure they work just as well, but IMO they are way too expensive for what they do.

Some other little tidbits I'll offer:

-I've charged this unit by plugging the special (included) USB cable into a Kindle power Adapter and one of the mini Apple power adapters, and both charged it perfectly.

-Its small, so it fits in a backpack, purse, or pocket really easily.

-I have not tried this yet, but you can add additional solar panels to improve the battery's charge time when charging from the sun. Out of the box the battery comes with a hook dealie you attach to the side, then attach to the extra solar panel.

-The case itsself is made of a good, solid plastic which can take some abuse. I would try to keep the solar panel away from any situations which could damage it, but it should be okay handling day-to-day usage (i.e. keeping it in a cluttered bag with all kind of pointy things).

The product itself is nice. Good capacity, good size, decent build quality. There are two ways to charge it solar and plug-in. The plug-in method is the fastest, and it is designed to plug into a standard USB port. HOWEVER, they use a somewhat propitiatory plug to go from the USB port to the actual reVIVE device, which is really silly. They should have used a standard micro or mini USB cable. Now, when I take it, I have to take one more wire along with me. Had they thought through the user experience, they would have incorporated a standard plug that could be borrowed, shared, etc.

Other than that, so far so good!

I bought the Battery Manager IV over a year ago, because my car often sits for extended periods of time without being driven. And I got tired of the battery dying, needing to get a jump or push-start the car, and other such inconveniences. And I can tell ya that ever since I purchased and have been using the Battery Manager IV, these frustrations have been a thing of the past.

It actively takes the battery up to 14.4V to fully charge it, then enters the float mode to maintain the battery's full charge at 13.5V (as opposed to cheaper units that keep driving 14.4V into a battery during long term float, actually damaging its life).

Also of note is that it'll charge a battery connected to the car, a solo/disconnected battery, and even a dual-battery setup, as I have in one of my vehicles.

One thing I did find out about this unit, however, is that the battery must already have and be able to maintain a minimum charge for the Battery Manager IV to work. Ie, this unit will NOT be able to charge a completely dead/drained battery. That battery will have to be charged for a bit (or, after a jump, drive around for a while for the alternator to charge the battery some), THEN the unit will take over, recharging the battery to its full capacity.

All in all, this unit does exactly what it claims to do, and it does it well. I am very happy with the purchase, and wouldn't hesitate to purchase a second unit for my other vehicle. The only reason I didn't though was I decided to go with Griot's 3-In-1 Battery Charger/Maintainer/Tester (Part #77495) so at least one of my units can charge a fully discharged battery, AND test it too!

One of our vehicles sits for long periods of time without being driven, and we have found that this works like a champ to keep the battery topped off. During black friday shopping weekend, I decided to give this product a try for $69. I've searched through all of the tablet deals and this tablet was the only one I found that was sub $100 that offered capacitive touch screen along with google play store, which turned out to be the right deal breaker for me to buy this one over the others. Please note that my 3 star rating was contingent upon the price itself, hardware alone is probably about 2.5 stars all together. The unit is serviceable and functional.

What came in the box was the unit, a usb 3.0 cable, a usb female cable and a charger. There were no earphones to be found. The unit required to be charged before I could get started. I inserted my micro SD card that was loaded with pictures.

I turned the screen brightness completely up along with the volume, and what I noticed was a screen that's somewhat hazy in color vibrancy. Comparatively, it was about half the brightness of the samsung galaxy tab 7 2.0. It reminds me of an older laptop screen in that regard. When I double tapped to zoom into my photos, I was only able to zoom in for a limited amount. I understood the screen resolution was limited, so that wasn't that big of a deal to me. However, there was a noticeable lag between switching from picture to picture. I wondered if it was because it was reading from the micro SD card instead of from the hardware itself?

The sound doesn't get very loud on its own. When I was sitting in the quiet room, I could hear it just fine, but when I sat in a coffee shop, i had a hard time hearing it over the background noise. Earphone outlet is yet to be tested at this point. Another noticeable factor is that the sound was mono, again compared to a samsung galaxy tab, which had stereo sound, it paled in comparison.

I've heard a saying that it's not the hardware that saves the product, but rather, it is the software. As it's saving grace, it does come with Google Play store. I downloaded Netflix, Pandora, Ted and Angry Birds to test things out. Google Search app was not compatible with this product (does that mean there are other apps that aren't compatible too?) As far as the good play store itself, downloads went smoothly and quickly. No complaints there so far.

Videos on Netflix and Ted streamed just fine, however it did take a bit of time to load. This tablet felt a bit like a turtle compared to other higher end tablets, even compared to ipad 1. Music played without any problems, and Angry Birds did play fine, even if it took forever to load initially.

The unit came out of the box with no charge. It took me approximately 2 hours to fully charge the unit. The battery life itself seem to last about 4 hours, which is about half of the higher end 7 inch tablet units. It can be charged in two waysone of which is with the 5v AC charger unit that plugs in like a cell phone, and another I found was through the USB 3.0, which makes it convenient for me since my phone uses the same charger.

To conclude, it is an average but serviceable product. I only recommended it because of the google play store, micro SD expansion and the price. Otherwise, this could've been part of the heap of other crap tablets out there. Being that it was only $69, I am not all that worried about losing or breaking the unit, which in some way is a comfortable thought to have. However, if you want quality product, invest in a kindle fire, nexus 7, or galaxy tab 2. It may be worth your time.

My opinion: My wife and I bought these for family members for Christmas, and I got them out to insert the Micro SD cards (yes, the expandable memory is nice) and add a few apps since I know the family members we got them for are not tech savvy. I am amazed at how slow this thing is compared to even the cheapest Android phone I have ever used. You will need to download an "App killer" application because it really can't run one program decently without you quitting all other functions. As of this review, you can't even run Hulu Plus on it. It is a decent eReader though, and will also run the critical apps well like Calendar and Email. >>>> It's a budget tablet you get what you pay for.

There's nothing fancy about this cord, it's literally just 4 feet of wire with male plugs on each end. The solder connection look good inside, but the housing almost comes apart at the nose when not in a socket. When I got it the cost was 1/2 as much as another, so if you want something cheap and simple this seems better (and it has no LEDs or such that give even a tiny drain if you want to leave it connecting 2 batteries for a long time). But it also came with no instructions, so although you may think "You just plug it in don't you?", there are some things you need to think about and beware of that I'll pass along.

First, any power cord with male plugs on both ends has the possibility of one end being plugged into a source (like your car) and the other touching something metal (like a body part of the car) creating a "short circuit" which can start an electrical fire (unless a fuse saves you). So although the 12V won't zap you if you touch the bare end, just remember if you pull the plug on one end, always instantly pull the plug on the other end (don't ever leave just one end connected).

I thought they may have a resistor or such inside this to limit current flow thru it as power goes from your car to a "jump start" battery (which is it's advertized purpose), but it doesn't. Although some may think "That's good so you get the full car power faster to recharge it, right?", the truth is this also can create an electrical fire or blow the car fuse from the high power draw and small wires in this. That becomes a real problem if a battery is heavily drained (see my added comment) or if someone tries to use this to "jumpstart" from car-to-car. I did try this to recharge a "jump start" battery in my car after I'd drained it at least 50% and after 10+ minutes of recharging I pulled the plug finding the positive terminal was pretty warm. Nothing came apart or such, but any wires or connections getting warm isn't a good sign. So it works, but you do need to be careful.

I have used Save A Battery for both 12V and 6V for more than 8 years. The most recent version, 3015, is very informative with options for viewing and not viewing the display. It also has alarms to alert you to any possible battery faults or low charge which allows you to turned off the alarm should you wish. The cables give you length for that longer reach and connections for charging more than one battery as well as attachments for different battery posts and positions in a car or bike. Even a battery that seems weak and tending to be thrown away has been brought back to life saving time to remove and replace as well as money for expensive batteries. I bought this charger to keep two golf cart batteries used during power failures charged. I have monitored the charge process and am puzzled by the Semi-intelligent description for this charger, I will share my findings here. When first connected the charger will charge at full output of about 2 amp hours until the battery voltage reaches about 13.2 volts and then starts to taper off until the battery voltage is around 14 volts. Once the charger switches to float (maintenance mode) it drops the charging current to around .2 amps or less as required to maintain a voltage of about 13.3 volts. If I place a small load on the batteries, I find that the charger will adjust it's output while keeping the voltage steady until it drops to about 13.1 volts, where it will switch back to charge mode again until the 14 volts is reached again.

As far as I am concerned, this does everything most chargers advertised as multi-stage smart chargers do. I like that it does not constantly cycle on and off, but uses a small variable current to maintain voltage unless the voltage drops due to some draw on the battery. This causes the battery to produce less gassing and electrolyte loss than my past chargers have. Any battery used as backup power that is seldom cycled should have a equalizing charge applied occasionally to raise the voltage high enough to cause short term gassing, which stirs the electrolyte and balances voltages between the cells. This type charger is not designed for that, same as most float mode type chargers. Ths charger also uses less power than my other smart chargers, showing 2.9 watts to maintain a 220 amp hour battery, while my next best charger uses 4.4 watts. At my power cost, this should only cost me about $3.oo per year to operate, and should take even less on a smaller battery. While I haven't owned it long enough to comment on the life span, I am pleased with what I see so far and will update this review if it fails in a short time.

My first two controllers were PWM types. As I read and learned more about solar panels/solar systems I realized I'd be considerably better off with an MPPT type of controller. I bought the 20 amp size of the MPPT Tracer2210RN Solar Charge Controller to allow me room for expansion. I have a meter monitoring what's coming in off the panels, another meter monitoring what's coming out of the controller, a third meter telling me what's in the batteries. By using the PWM controller for several months I got to know and expect what those meters would say. After installing the MPPT controller, right away I saw considerable differences, all good. I saw the batteries recover faster and brought to a higher voltage (safely, as the directions had explained). I would have to say those claims of gaining 20-30% are true. MPPT is simply a much better system for charging batteries.

The internals of this unit are not anything I studied in school..I just followed the directions and go by what my meters are telling me. I would recommend this unit to anyone starting a solar system, or to anyone who wants to extract every drop of power from their present system.

Seems to be a very efficient controller. With 520 watts of PV, It is charging my 240AH at 24VDC battery banks very quickly. I am running my air conditioner off my system, and so far, this controller does not disappoint. I wish I would have picked up the 30A unit, but this seems to work just fine.

I am very satisfied with the look, performance and price of this item. I did think it was a bit overpriced but now I think it is worth the investment. Bonus: it runs very smooth and quiet.
