I was slightly concerned at first because of the 3.1A rating I did not want to overload my phone. After receiving the product it says the output is 5.0V, up to 2100mA per port. This is exactly the same as iPad charger. The 3.1A is the total output if you have multiple devices plugged in. I've used this a couple times and it works great. Now my wife and I both can charge our iPhones in the car. Also anyone with an iPhone 5 can use this with the new lightning usb cable to charge their phone on the go.

The charger is well designed, has a matte black finish that has a slight rubber feel to it, not the cheap gloss plastic feel that most car chargers have. It's not bulky either and has a nice blue LED on the side when it has power.

I also like the generic design of the USB charger you can use this for any device, whether it be an android phone that has a micro USB input, an iPhone/iPod/iPad with a 30-pin connector, or the iPhone 5 and new iPods with the lightning connector. Just use your existing USB cable and you are ready to go.

Many chargers claim a 2A output, but that only holds true for ipads. This charger will actually output 2A for non-ipads/iphones. I use my Galaxy Nexus LTE to stream Pandora while using Google Navigation, and the charger is still able to charge about 7% per half hour. I am so happy with this purchase that I plan to get another one for my wife's car.

Some people complained it will not charge a totaly dead battery.

This is safety feature so it will not turn on if nothing is hooked up it.

To charge a dead battery you have to give it a little pre charge to get it to about 1 volt so the charger knows something is actually hooked up to to it.

To do this:

1. unplug charger from wall

2. hook battery to charger

3. press and hold "display" and "type" button at the same time

4. while holding those buttons plug the charger into wall.

* this will bypass safety features and charge the battery even if it is dead (assuming the battery can be charged at all)

do not run in this mode for more then 5 minutes or you can damage unit and battery.

this will get the battery enough of a charge so that the charger can detect a battery is hooked up to it (1 volt) .

5. unplug charger from wall.

6. wait 30 seconds and plug in charger into the wall. This will put it back into 'regular' mode and start charging your batter properly

Forgetting to remove the negative connector before storing my vehicle for the winter; the internal sytems and alarm drained the battery, and of course it was sulfated. This unit worked like a charm. The battery was down to 8 volts/15%. The SC-1200a properly began to charge, then desulfate, and slowly was able to get the battery back to 98% before I removed it to start the car. This took approximately 17 hours (700 CCA Battery), which isn't bad for a dead/sulfated battery using a charger costing less than $50. The plus is you can use it to maintain your battery on a vehicle you do not drive much. Keeping your battery charged above 98% can greatly extend the life. How long it will the charger last running 24/7? ...I do not know yet. I have only had it maintaining the battery for 3 weeks, but still no problems. It does have a cooling fan which probably should be cleaned/vacuumed occaisionally; and I've never felt the unit being hot to touch. Not sure what problem the first reveiwer had, or if the unit he had was defective or dropped before he purchased it. For a $50 charger which maintains and also desulfates a battery, you cannot beat it.

Stay far, far, far, away from this charger. I walked away from tested, good, low charge battery being charged on the 8amp setting connected to a 750CCA regular car battery and when I came back a couple hours later it was boiling and still trying to charge! I checked the charge voltage and it was at 16 volts (measured with a Fluke meter)! Bad, very bad, charger and not automatic or smart at all.

I was hoping to find the Schumacher model 7000A 2/20 Amp charger to review, but this 1200A is just a variation on the same thing. Looks identical too. After reading bad reviews of Schumacher and Vector it's clear these companies can't do anything right. Seems any product that has a microprocessor is programmed by the incompetent. Let me tell you about Schumacher speed chargers.

They won't charge batteries that don't already have a significant charge. If your battery drops below 10 to 11 volts, forget it. You'd have to have a manual battery charger as backup for when this won't charge, which eliminates the need for this thing in the first place. The explanation from the company is that the charger has to feed off the voltage in the battery, blah, blah. The purpose of a battery charger is to charge batteries, period. Then I was lied to by the tech and told if I hold down a certain combination of buttons when plugging the unit in, it would go into manual 2A mode (where the processor doesn't decide it won't charge your battery), but I sat there on the phone with him doing just as he said, and turns out no such feature exists. The manual doesn't mention anything like that either.

The charger is totally unpredictable. It almost always goes into desulfate mode. It has never completed a charge after coming out of desulfate mode, but ends in an error. Needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to start charging again to "completion". However completion doesn't seem to get the battery to 100% power, more like 80%, if that. Sometimes it won't charge at 20A and drops down to 2A. Don't know why. And according to the manual, desulfate mode can take up to 10 hours. So much for speed charge. Need to get into your car and go somewhere? Well you may need to wait until the next day.

It has a retain mode where the charger can sit there and monitor your battery and charge when needed. Figured I'd just leave the thing on my car almost permanently. But those who programmed the thing don't understand setting upper and lower thresholds. What it should do is charge up to the upper threshold, then when the battery drops below the lower, it charges to the upper again. I therefore expected it to turn on once a day or whatever. Instead it's turning on and off every several seconds, with the fan and relay clicking on and off. That's a good way to ware out the unit in no time.

It has a 70A engine start feature just incase you don't have enough juice to quite start your car, but if the battery is low enough where the charger won't charge it, the engine start feature won't work either.

My last car battery was probably only 1.5 years old before it wouldn't even take a charge. I'm beginning to suspect the damn charger might be responsible. When going into desulfate mode for instance, I see the voltage climb up to well over 16 volts. I don't know if that's good for the battery.

The simple act of charging a battery can be turned into a stressful nightmare with this crappy charger. Stay far away from Schumacher. It's clear they can't build a realiable charger, nor does it appear they've actually tried out their own products before dumping them onto the public.

Have used this charger for A year to charge my boat batteries. Never completes A cycle without having to un-plug and restart. Charged battery overnite, and found battery was boiling. Had to replace. I've had a car with a broken tape deck and sporadic power supply to the lighter outlet, so I have always needed a battery-powered FM transmitter for listening to my iPod in my car. This one is the cheapest one I've ever had and so far the best. The signal is strong. I recently drove from Minneapolis to Detroit and back and only had to mess around with changing the stations once each way--waaaaay better than any of my other transmitters (the Griffin iTrip was the worst). The sound quality is adequate, but not perfect. As other reviewers have said bass can get distorted. I remedy that by turning the volume on my iPod down and turning up the volume on my car stereo. Every once in a while there is extra static, but it's almost exclusively when there is someone in my passenger seat. It may just be a combo of my car's FM receiver and the TuneFree transmitter, but it's not a huge deal. Battery lasts much longer than I expect it to. The only other drawback is that the blue light is super bright. It's a good way to gauge how low the battery power is getting though--if it doesn't hurt to stare directly into the blue light, you should keep some spare batteries around. I give this 5 stars because it works better than most more expensive devices and the slight drawbacks are not that much of a problem, especially when considering the face that this is under $20. I will also add that the device feels very cheap and flimsy, but I have had mine floating around in my purse for over a year and it's still working as well as it did when I got it.

I plugged this into my laptop in my home so that I could hear my MP3s or an audiobook on A) the kitchen radio and B) my cheapo shower CD player radio. It works GREAT! I don't even have the volume cranked up much on my laptop not even 20% of 100% volume. Maybe around 15% or so. I think if you put the volume up too high on your device that it is transmitting from, then you will get more distortion at the receiving radio. Also, the instructions say, "Note: for best results, select a frequency that has the weakest or no signal from a radio station." I chose the last / highest one 107.9. Works like a charm!!! Yeah, it stinks that it uses 2 x AAA batteries instead of an AC adapter, but for just $16.00 and change, it is more than worth the purchase. Plus, rechargeable AAA's go for only $9 $10 for a 4-pack, so it's not like it's going to break anyone's bank.

Also, to transmit to my bathroom's shower radio, if I drew an imaginary line through the 3 walls, I would say it is about 17-20 feet away. To get to the kitchen, that is also going through at least 3 walls, and I'd say it's closer to 20-25 feet away. Pretty sweet! :)

One final note when I first plugged it into my laptop, I had it actually sitting ON my laptop just to see what would happen. I got a lot of static / loud hum from my kitchen radio. But the instant I took it OFF my laptop and set it a whopping TWO INCHES away, it worked perfectly. Just a hint for non-tech people who don't understand interference. Both my laptop screen AND my 26" widescreen external monitor were on, but some people with older monitors might want to turn theirs off to keep any possible hum and/or interference down.

I replaced a $8 piece of junk(bought only a week ago) with this and I made a awesome choice... Connected this to my computer and I am rocking crystal clear songs from my stereo system. It transmits clear waves, static-free tunes. This is definitely a 5-star product and worth the money. This product comes with a 1-year warranty also. As mentioned by others, it has a very bright blue light and I am thinking this sucks most of your battery. I have not tested the battery life as yet. This is a very good FM transmitter. I always use to have static interference with my old plug-in transmitter. This one has not had any static problems and works flawlessly. You can take it anywhere and make use of its very good range. One time I used it to make my own radio station that my roommates could listen to on their radios.

Cons:

It needs battery replacements every 15-20 hours. (last me 3 weeks at the rate that I used it.)

Blue LED in the front is WAY too bright.

I was hesitant to buy it, but I'm pleasently surprised !

Pros:

Transmitted Music from my laptop to my home theatre system, which is about 5 meters away. When I hit pause on my music, I hear absolute silence .. it's amazing ! No hiss.

Great transmitter basically, I'm keeping it although it has it's draw backs.

Cons:

Packaging feels kind of cheap.

No digital controls or display, frequency is selected using a a set of switches according to the combination.

No fancy electronics in there to condition the audio input. You have to pick a good volume for the audio you send to it: if it's too loud, it will saturate and beats start to sound bad, and if it's too low you will have to turn your radio receiver up, and you start to pick up hiss from FM.

I still love it.

I have either a solargizer or pulser on every truck and tractor. Can't say how long it makes the batteries last because the only battery I lost since 2003 was due to total loss in an accident. That battery was 8 years old (double the 48 month warranty) and still tested good. Proper battery maintenance plus the pulse technology should get you double the expected battery life based on my personal experience. Tractors that sit for days or weeks still crank up with solargizers installed.

First thing I'll do is compliment Amazon.com's customer service. They gave me a partial refund (since I decided to keep this and use that money in search of a third party tip), but that doesn't do anything about the fact this product is useless. Let me explain.

The product's description is generic, saying it'll fit all the most popular laptops/netbooks/tablets. Well, I don't think this company actually did the market research to figure out which products are the "most popular", since this would require a painstaking amount of research. My product, made by a major manufacturer (ASUS) and part of an incredibly popular line of netbooks (EEE series, although recent sales are admittedly lackluster) had no tip. My fiance's laptop also did not have a fitting tip. And lastly, several devices around my desk did not have a fitting tip, although I can't hit them on this since that wasn't part of the deal. Point is don't expect this to fit your device.

THE WORST part of all of this, which is why this is a one star instead of two (they did have a Micro-USB charger so I guess if you want to lug around a device that's 4 times the size of your cellphone knock yourself out) is the fact that I directly emailed the manufacturer on their website asking for a tip, with the possibility in mind that I will have to pay for at least the shipping. Needless to say, the vendor blatantly ignored my message, so if you expect support for your product, good luck and godspeed.

You're best off buying an extended battery for your laptop, or buying a much cheaper cellphone battery-extender elsewhere.

EDIT: Think the warranty process will be easy? Think again. They finally responded when I sent them multiple emails, because I ended up using the device on my fiance's laptop (where it under performed, see above) and the cable started intermittently disconnecting. Apparently sending the Amazon order number isn't enough, and they made me take a photo of the device to send to them in order to get a dinky, cheap cable. A few days later, the device's lights all lit up at the same time and then crapped out permanently while charging a USB device. This straight up sucks.

Update: Check out this message they send on May 7, 2013. Device should still be under warranty, right? Nah. They basically throw Amazon under the bus:

I decided to put together a system with two 100-Watt solar panels, a couple of deep cycle batteries and a good quality solar charge controller, instead of the simple on/off type. I'm an electronics engineer and I used to design battery chargers for sealed lead acid batteries. I know how important it is for longevity and charge density to properly charge and maintain the batteries. Even in the best of all possible worlds any sealed lead acid battery is going to be down to about 60% capacity after 5 years, so these devices that maintain the batteries are important.

This product is well-built and appears to be of high quality. Initial setup and programming was very easy and the instructions go beyond instructing you to the point of adding a little education. I tested my system with volt and current meters and this device worked very well. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, it's nicely packaged and easy to use. It just works.

I like this controller because the solar panels are always changing directions with my boat. The constant 3 digital readings of battery voltage, Solar amperage and the load being drawn is excellent. I can now adjust my amp draw on the battery to match what is being replaced to the battery in amps and also have a good idea of how much energy is left in my battery.

I was a little skeptical upon purchasing this but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works. On the minus side, the battery does pop out of the holder sometimes but once it is secured firmly in the battery holder, it does charge.

I'm very happy with this quality of this lighter socket. It comes with plenty of wire so you can really mount it on a motorcycle wherever you want. My only complaint is that the spring for the cover is REALLY stiff. It be nicer if you could just hold it up and plug something in with one hand, but you need two. What else can I say? It's a 12v Aux power hookup and does what it's supposed to do, it's well made, easy to install if you know what you're doing and the spring closure is good and strong. Plenty of wire for most applications. Just remember, if you want it to be fused, you need to either hook it up via an existing fusebox or purchase an inline fuse seperately.

This particular 12V auxiliary power outlet is not as well made as I'd hoped it would be when I ordered it. I've got it working OK, but had to open it up and solder the power leads into place that should have been soldered in the first place instead of crimped.

What can I say. It works exactly how it should. It seems built well enough to last many years. It came with plenty of wire for my application but it doesn't include a fuse so be sure to get one of those separately.

As the other review stated that the Odyssey died after a few months, yes just like it says it will in the manual if your bike has too small of an alternator and you ride short trips at low speeds! This is a different AGM battery that will get a very long service life IF you get an approved charger that charges and floats at different levels than all other batteries. These batteries give extreme cranking amp plus the ability to deep cycle which few batteries can do. My HD starts right up now since I have a high torque starter. Get the Battery Minder 12248 WITH the temp monitor for optimal charge and floating. If you don't follow these recommendations then dont waste your money and get a regular AGM that will die sooner!

This battery replaces the same battery purchased back in 2001. Nine years of trouble free abuse isn't too bad. Often would leave the bike for six months or more without riding. Anyway if your a rider that may get a bit too busy to ride for periods of time. Leave your bike unattended this is the battery for you.

I bought this battery to replace the Power-Wheels stock 12V one that was dead in my kids ride-on Tonka truck. To my surprise, it fit in the original battery holder, I just had to use some longer M5 bolts to use the stock battery hold-down. The kids have been using the truck for nearly a month now, i have not recharged it yet! Great battery.

I bought an Odyssey PC545MJ in April, 2006 for $102 delivered. I have used it for three years in my F440 race cars. It is light weight and powerful and has been subject to heat and vibration in my application and was excellent until it failed recently. Please note that in order to get a metal jacket Odyssey, you must order model #PC545MJ, not PC545. I intend to buy another as a replacement.

I purchased this for the Cold Cranking Amps to power my big bore Harley. I had it for 3 months before it died, then replaced it with the same model battery and it also lasted 3 months. Every time I started my bike it took to much power out of it and then took to long to recharge until they just wouldn't hold a charge anymore. For stock applications It would most likely work fine but it is billed as a heavy duty battery and it fails. You can actually measure the decrease in cold cranking amps after every start. Once a Week I would measure it and watched the life just tick away

Great value for everything that you get. The belt phone holder I had to modify to fit my phone with it's protective cover, but overall it works. The windshield mount has great suction and keeps the phone very secure. I would highly recommend this bundle.
