This is the original Motorola car charger and is the only one you should consider. It works well and seems to have good protection so that you can start your car with it plugged in without frying your phone or the charger itself.

The Motorola logo on the end of it lights up when it's plugged in, which looks very cool especially at night. I was pleasantly surprised by this as well as the performance and build quaility.

I can't vouch for the company shipping it out promptly since mine was included as part of my RAZR phone bundle but I would recommend this charger to anyone with a RAZR or PBLE phone.

I was surprised that this was original motorola equipment for such a reasonable price. Looking at stores I only found knock-off generics and they were more expensive; even after paying for shipping. The only downside to this charger is that it has a fairly short coil cord that doesn't allow for an easy conversation while charging.

Well...This is a cigarette charger for a Motorola RAZR. It's black and it has a pretty blue window that lights up when you plug it into the socket. It also has a clip at the end to clip itself to the cord in order to prevent having the cord sloppily hang around. If you're actually reading this review, be assured that it does charge your phone and that it does look quite nice plugged in.

I have several of the older Versapak battery power vacuums and consumer grade hand tools. The original battery powered hand vacuums used Nicads, then they were upgraded to the "gold" version which were NiMH batteries. These each used two drop in packs with a total of 6 sub C cells for a total of 7.4 volts. These worked well but the voltage was adequate but not over powering. The actual vacuums (original Versapak) were built using a hard injection molded plastic which meant if you dropped it the body or battery hold down would break.

The design is similar but the batteries are retained using a spring loaded clip on the battery.

What I really like is the the built-in narrow extension tool which allows the vacuum to get into narrow areas. The built-in feature is a real plus because accessories tend to get separated from tools like this. In addition, there is clip on crevice tool which snaps into the extending nose of the vacuum. It, along with a brush, are stored in the back side of the vacuum. Overall, the vacuum design is similar to older models but improved.

The best part of this battery powered hand vacuum is the use of Lithium Ion batteries. These are small 1300 milliamp hour A123 cells which are extremely rugged and good for a 1000 charges. Best of all is they hold their charge for months, not days or weeks which are typical of Nicads or NiMH cells. Nothing is more frustrating then wanting to use a battery powered tool and when you want to use it the battery pack needs to be recharged. The VPX charger takes longer than I like, but that's a normal consumer grade charger. It's a shame because these batteries can be quick charged in 15 minutes with a more powerful charger.

The motor is a brushed motor that takes time to break in, so a new motor needs to be used a bit to get the most out of it.

I was about to contact Black and Decker. Something has to be wrong. I fully charged the two batteries and inserted into the Vac. I ran it for 5 minutes, put the vac away, and ran it for 5 minutes a week later and the vac recharge light comes on. There are two expensive batteries fully charged, can they only run for two 5 minute intervals? If thats it, they should scrap this product.

I received this Black and Decker vacuum as a holiday gift. At first, I thought this was a good successor to a history of cheap, ineffective hand vacs. However, after two charges, the Black and Decker battery charger ceased working. While this product is still under warranty, I am now going through a painful back and forth about replacement of the charger that involves Black and Decker and DeWalt. I've searched for another charger to purchase, but I can only buy it in a package with other Black and Decker power tools. Why would I buy power tools that I can't power because of unreliable battery charging? I don't intend to buy more of this.

I just got my Black & Decker VPX2102 VPX Lithium-Ion Hand Vac yesterday. I had done a lot of research online, and while the $50 cost was high, I liked not having to deal with Ni-Cd batteries.

I was VERY surprised to open the package and find that I still had to buy two VPX batteries and a charger. I came back to this product page, and verified there's nothing here (at this time) that says the batteries aren't included. Amazon's description ends mid-sentence with "Includes." Of the two reviews so far, one doesn't mentions the lack of batteries, and the other makes it sound like batteries are included (at least, to me).

So, I have to wait another week or so to actually try the Hand Vac. I can't comment on how good it is, but I can say it's quite expensive, and hope that others don't make the mistake I did.

I picked 2 stars because I had to choose something, and it seems well-built. If I get this vac working and really love it, I'll update the review to three stars, maaaaaybe four. I think I chose a solid product, but the cost and the "gotcha" factor are discouraging.

[ UPDATE 3/20/2009: ] The batteries arrived, seemingly in new condition. Like another reviewer, I'm getting about 10 minutes' vacuum time from each 5-hour charge. Each charge cycle has improved the time a little; I've gone through three cycles so far. There is almost no warning before the batteries are fully discharged. The vacuum speed falls from 100% to 95% for just a moment, then it shuts off.

I think a 14V, $100 hand vacuum (including battery costs) should run for at least 30 minutes on a 5-hour charge, so I'm going to try and get the batteries replaced under warrantee. Perhaps they were sitting on a shelf or in storage for too long. The manual does warn that storing the batteries without a charge can cause damage, and they arrived with no charge at all. For what it's worth, the glue on all the VPX packaging has been old enough to be brittle and too weak to hold paper and cardboard together during the unpacking process. Hopefully fresh batteries will perform much better.

I just got the hand vac and at first I have to say I bought it because the first person who posted the review raved about it. Unfortunately, I will be returning it.

First off, Amazon didn't mention any where that the batteries and the charger were sold separately, but that's not the reason I'm returning this. Secondly, this hand vac doesn't stand out and really works similar to many others. The cyclonic action was not impressive as some others. Dirt and "stuff" still got caught on the filter and the suction slowed.

Thirdly, at 7volts(x2) it didn't seem like it totaled what a 14volt should The suction was no that impressive. Lastly, the on/off switch was pretty hard to work. My wife couldn't work it, and this was the real reason its being returned.

I had gone through several jump packs from Walmart. None of them actually had the power to jump start a dead vehicle. I mostly used them to air up tires. This jump pack has a great battery life & can jump start my truck when completely dead. I'll never buy one of those cheap POSs again.

On a suggestion of another camera system owner that had a power charger that required the use of a power cord, I got these. They are the PERFECT answer to eliminating the use of the cord. Simply plug one end into the power charger and the other into a wall socket and the charger with the light on the side showing charging can also be seen. No space whatsoever required compared to an annoying cord and much easier to transport on a vacation or event.

I just opened the package and haven't used this thing yet so I can't comment on functionality but I wanted to let others know that this unit DOES come with a cigarette lighter plug (as well as a set of alligator clips) that you can attach to the screw posts.

I wasted a couple bucks on a separate cigarette lighter plug when I ordered because the product information says nothing about coming with the cigarette lighter plug.

Oh There is also a sticker on the cigarette lighter cable warning not to draw more than 150 watts when using it plugged into a lighter socket (use the alligator clips or your own custom wires to connect straight to the battery for full power)

I has been on ever since I put it in my semi. I have a laptop, a printer, and four chargers for cordless devices hooked to it on a power strip. The fan will come on if I'm watching a movie on the laptop but that is the only time I have ever heard the fan come on. It is exposed to temps from below 0 to 80+ and hasn't complained yet.

The power inverter works great. I used it on a 5000 mile road trip powering a PS3 and iPhone and another cell phone along the way, in addition to other small electronics. To get the most power out of the unit, you need to hard wire it directly to the battery. I mounted it under the passenger seat and ran some 8 gauge wire. Very easy installation. I looked at several inverters before purchasing this one. The usb connection was what sold me on the unit. I now have an easy way to charge my iPhone without having to buy a car charger or taking up one of the regular power outlet slots. Well worth the money. The only thing to note for Amazon is that the product listing advertises that it comes with a carry case. It does not. No problem for me because I don't really care, but it may matter to you. I believe the CPI 475 does include the case.

Power ratings are grossly over-stated. I have owned this product for about 1 year. It has worked great for powering my laptop while in the car. I have not been able to get it to supply power any greater than 100W without it shutting off however. With the inverter connected directly to clean battery terminals with the included battery clamps, vehicle running (14+ volts at clamps), I have unsuccessfully tried powering two different TV's rated at 140W. In both instances the inverter shut off when the TV's where powered on. I next tried turning on a 150W halogen flood lamp. The inverter shut down before the lamp lit. This inverter is rated at 400W RMS/800W peak. It should be able to supply these loads without any issues. Keep in mind I tried these loads with the inverter connected directly to my (dual) truck battery, engine running. The test where run on multiple occasions. There was no lack of supply current/voltage.

Upgraded from 1 to 3 stars: I have since "hardwired" the inverter to my vehicle battery with an Anderson Power Pole 50amp connector in between. With this configuration I have been able to get a full 400 watts realiabley from it. I have been running this setup for about 2 years now. I use it about an hour continous once a month.

I just received my Cobra CPI 480 400-Watt unit today.

The lighter cable option allows taking this unit in a different vehicle. My unit came with both lighter plug and jumper cable type power connectors. The lighter plug has a 15A fuse in the tip, limiting output to a continuous 165W (hence the 150W mentioned in the manual). Higher power levels will require direct connection to the battery terminals, or the fuse will blow.

The lighter plug, as noted in other reviews has trouble staying electrically connected in my Cadillac Seville lighter socket, but doesn't fall out. The rear passenger lighter sockets have the same mechanical connection issue.

[The following comments were made from a unit sent back for repair. Addendum comments made against a new unit are at the bottom of this review, and new scope image replaces the old one in customer images.]

With the unit connected to a car battery with the engine running for high power checking, a Hoover 110V hand vacuum runs just fine. I grabbed a 500W halogen contractors light to see what happens on overload. The lamp starts to light and about 200mS later (~1/5 sec) the units starts shrieking and turns off output. [This behavior changed in the new unit (below) which now powers the 500W lamp for a minute] This unit does not recover from this condition automatically. The front panel switch must be turned off, then back on for the unit to recover. This also implies that any motor load with high startup currents has to be substantially started in 200mS or the overload condition will trip on this inverter. 200mS is short, most motor type equipment can take 500mS-1Second to start, which means many motor driven appliances may not work well with this inverter. Think about how long your lights "dim" when your freezer starts. If it's longer than the tiniest of "flickers", then it's probably longer than 200mS.

Since my use is to recharge two electric bike batteries from 120VAC and my cell phone from USB and each bike charger draws 170W peak @ 120VAC during the charge cycle (340W peak for two), this unit should meet my needs.

The battery direct connect cables are about 2.5 feet long and made of 12AWG wire. Something heavier (6 or 4AWG or two parallel sets of 10AWG) should get me from my battery under the hood past the firewall and into the car with little enough voltage drop to get that 400W capability without burning up 20A lighter fuses or having so much voltage drop due to wiring that the unit shuts off with a low voltage sensing error.

A nice addition is a contractors "pig tail" [8" extension cord and three plugs] to extend the 110V outlets for wall-wart type chargers. Target also has 8-inch "adapter cords" to extend the outlets if you have something physically large to plug-in (Amazon solution:Power Extension Cord, Perfect for Transformers, 1 ft). If I have a lot of wall-wart type chargers (up to 6). GE has a nice widely spaced 6-outlet solution meant to physically cover a wall outlet GE 50759 6-Grounded Outlet In-Wall Adapter, White. This plugs into the pig-tail which plugs into the inverter for running a pile of low power chargers (like cell phones, kids game-boys, camera battery, and a laptop).

I put the CPI480 on the bench to answer a few more basic questions about this unit. See my uploaded "Modified Sinewave" scope photo of CPI 480 output under "customer images".

First, when the power switch is first turned on, the fan runs for 14 seconds, then turns off. This concerned me after reading several reviews saying their fan stays off. [The new unit doesn't do this]

Will the 5V USB output stay on even when the switch is off? In fact the 5VDC output turns off with the front power switch as does the 110VAC. This unit draws no power when the front switch is off, so it doesn't need to be physically disconnected from the battery.

During startup (turn the front power switch on) at 13.5 VDC input with fan running, my unit draws 800mA (0.8A). After the fan turns off, my unit settles down to 650mA (0.65A) for "standby", not running anything. The box says

This is a great dual port car charger.

Unlike a lot of dual USB chargers out there, it puts out a good 5v 2A current out of the top jack, and an above average 5v 1A current out of the bottom jack.

If you use a car dock (especially the Google/HTC Nexus One Car Dock) you can charge your phone and run your dock with a regular high quality Micro USB 2 cable. This saves a lot of headache if you are using a single Car DC jack for multiple devices. So, you can run a GPS Android Phone Dock, along with a standard iPod/iPhone USB 2 cable with no extra adapters or dongles. Mega space savings and clutter prevention.

The charger juts out about 1 1/2 inches from your standard sized DC jack surface. I can see why they needed to do this versus making it more flush to the car panel. The thing gets warm with full load and needs the extra space. I believe they made the Powerbolt Duo as small as they could for the price.

Speaking of price, this adapter uses high quality plastics and seems more expensive than its MSRP price. Although the metal contact pieces are not of a high conductivity metal, I expect that it would not corrode even with the occasional car style beverage spills and drips. The 30-pin Dock cable that comes with the unit is the standard Kensington iPod cable quality. The cable itself is flimsier, but it's reinforced where it counts. Apple cables usually become separated where the cable jacket meets the connector. The included Kensington cable will probably last a few months longer with heavy use because of its reinforced areas.

I am updating this review to give you an idea of the adapter longevity. I originally wrote this review in late 2010. It is now late-mid 2011 and the adapter is still running well. It has survived a soda spill with subsequent alcohol bath to clean it.

The Kensington 30-pin dock that I used it with has continued to serve its purpose well, unlike it's mate, an OEM (you know the fruit) cable that broke within 3 months.

I reiterate my positive review and I highly suggest purchasing this adapter.

I second the other five-star reviews. This device outputs the power it states from both ports, and, consequently, can charge anything up to and including the iPad and iPad 2. It also runs cool even under load; it's a very well-engineered piece of gear.

Critically for Ford owners and other car owners whose cigarette lighter jacks are powered even when the ignition is off, this device has VERY low standby power draw. While this is not listed in the specs on the box, I asked Kensington tech support for the draw when the charger is plugged in but nothing is charging from either of the USB ports. The response: "We are sorry for the delay in the responce. We would like to inform you that the product(K33497US) draws approxmitely 5mA in stand by mode."

(I had another iPad charger that would drain my car battery in a few days when left plugged in but with nothing charging. The Kensington seems not to have the same problem.)

In short, of all the high-powered car chargers out there for iPads and similar devices, this is the one to get.

A quick summary of this product before I get into the details:

Likely great for dedicated Apple device users that has all the power it claims (simultaneously 2.1 Amps on one port with 1 Amp on the other for a total of 3.1 Amps output combined, but under performs DRAMATICALLY for non-Apple devices due to protocol issues for USB chargers. It gets 3-stars because all it claims to support is Apple devices.

Now for more details...

A little background on USB charging for those who don't know:

The USB power spec is for 0.5 Amps at 5 Volts... or 2.5 Watts. This was great up until the last couple years when devices have gotten really power hungry, particularly smartphones and tablets and to a lesser extent dedicated GPS's. Some of these devices use over 2 Amps, particularly the tablets like the iPad (or in my case the HP Touchpad).

Manufacturers of these devices therefore had a dilemma. If they had their devices pull more than 0.5 Amps, they risked damaging the power source, which could be a computer, that was only prepared to source 0.5 Amps. Thus the manufacturers have used tricks to determine whether their device is connected to an unknown source, at which point they purposely only draw 0.5 Amps, or to the dedicated charger that was provided with the device, where they can draw all the power they need.

There seem to be two common tricks used. The first is to short the two data-wires together in the charger. This is what most non-Apple devices do. Since a computer or older device wouldn't have done this, the device can assume it is safe to draw all the power it needs.

Apple seems to have taken a different approach, one that I don't fully understand but know can be seen by the fact that the data lines are neither open nor shorted when the charger is plugged in, and is more sophisticated and probably superior, because I suspect it allows the device to know exactly how much power it can use.

While Apple taking a better approach might be nice in concept, it's created chaos in the USB charger product category. What is the non-specific charger to do? They can't support both.

Kensington chose to go the Apple route for the 2.1 Amp port. I don't own any high-power Apple devices, so I can't say for sure, but I suspect this unit performs well with Apple devices. Using electronic equipment I was able to draw 2.1 Amps when putting a fixed load on this USB charging port. However, when I connect any of the 3 high-power devices I have (HP Touchpad (2 Amps), Motorola Triumph Android phone (0.85 Amps) and the LG Optimus Slider (0.7 Amps)), none of them drew all the current they could have, because they were expecting a shorted set of data-lines.

The 1 Amp port on this device is a bit of a quandry however. It didn't have the signature on the data lines of either the Apple protocol or the shorted lines. It appeared to have them open... which was a surprise and I believe a mistake (although I can't be certain with Apple products). The results for my 3 devices however were identical to that of the 2.1 Amp port.

To highlight the positives, I can say this, I was able to draw all the power the product claims it can source using fixed loads. As my above explanation makes clear, it is the DEVICE, not the charger, that chooses not to make full use of the available current (Amps). So by using power resistors I could test the actual capacity of the device without dealing with the data-line issue.

As such, I was able to draw both 2.1 Amps from one port and 1 Amp from the other, simultaneously. I can not say the same for the other charger I have tried (and I have two in shipment to test).

Thus this device gets 3 stars because it only claims to support Apple devices and without any to test I have to assume it would work great for them. It also can deliver the current it claims. It is likely a 5-star product for sole apple users.

However, for non-Apple users, I STRONGLY encourage you to look elsewhere for your Car USB power needs. The other device I've tried is the "PowerGen Dual USB 2A Heavy Duty Ouput Car Charger" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00622AG6S/ref=oh_o05_s00_i00_details). It has other problems (the 2A port doesn't have the data lines shorted and it only sources a TOTAL of 2A, not 2A on one port and 1A on the other), but at least one port (the 1A, which can really do 2A by itself, see my review over there for more details on that) on that has the data lines shorted to get the full power with non-Apple devices.

This charger is specifically for what it says in the title iPhone 4, iPad 1 and 2.

With any other USB device you will get a 0.5A max current on both ports.

I bought this one for my Android phone thinking that USB charging specs are all standard. I was wrong...

From a review on another site:

"The 2.1A port implements *apple's* proprietary spec for high current charging which is necessary for that iPad, but the 1A port does not

implement the USB standard for high current charging above 500ma for smartphones and other devices. It may be rated at 1A on that second port but the required connection between pins 2 & 3 that tells your smartphone it can use >500ma is missing."

I finally found a charger that will provide 2x1A for my phones.There is a very useful comment on this item(Due to censorship see comments for details)

The one I've got had two pins in the middle soldered on one port but not the other. This way the soldered one was treated by the phone as an AC adapter, the other one as a USB port.

Soldering the other one made it look like an AC adapter as well. Now I have a fully functional 2x1A car changer :D

I believe the same applies to the "Kensington K33497US PowerBolt Duo Car Charger" it simply has both ports not soldered and treated as USB devices by phones. And only Idevices can actually "talk to it" and figure out the proper current.

I just purchased this charger for my new iPhone 4S. I tested it both my cars and it worked great. I'll try and update my review if I have any problems after longer use. If you want to be sure charger works with the 4s model of iPhone, this one really does.

I saw there is 1 other review giving this power inverter 1 star but I had a very different experience with it. Washington state got hit with an ice storm. In the greater Seattle area, 460,000 people lost their power (and we are still in the middle of it right now). Every home improvement, costco, Lowes, Home Depot stores were out of generators. We are going on our 4th day without power and not expected to get it back for another 3. I was desperate to get a light going, a tv going, something to entertain our 2 yr old at night time in the dark.

I went and got this inverter at home depot (btw, I paid $75 there so it is cheaper on Amazon), hooked it onto one of our cars, plugged in a 50 foot extension cord and ran it inside our home then plugged that into a 6 plug power strip. We can now power our TV, 2 laptops, modem, router, a light (with a halogen bulb) and 2 cell phones (via the computers usb port). We could probably power more but only have 6 slots on the power strip.

No this is not a generator. I would not plug in a refrigerator, washer / dryer or anything like that but given the fact we had no power at all, this thing is amazing. We have a gas fireplace, gas hot water heater and gas stove range so we are warm, clean and can cook but now we can see without using candles and stream shows onto our tv for some entertainment.

I recommend this item! It helped us when we needed some help during a hard winter storm.

We were looking for something light weight and easy to hook up for our tailgate. This worked perfectly and was very simple to setup. My friend was worried about draining his battery with this, but the device comes with a light indicator that gives you a status on your battery. We were running a TV and a computer off of this, and it worked perfectly. I'm sure it could have handled more, but this is all we needed.

I would definitely recommend this for a small to medium size tailgate where you a running a few items. It sure beats lugging around a huge generator and you don't have to break the bank.

Our power went out for 4 days recently. My wife reminded me we owned the inverter. I conneced it to the refrigerator for a couple of hours and then the freezer and the food survived just fine. I also had enough power to run a fan and a few lights. We tried a few other appliances like the iron (it was her 30th reunion weekend and she wanted to look her best)but was too much.

Bottom line: Its as good as its gonna get for less than 40.00, as long as the wattages are realtively low your good to go. Just leave the car in the garage and run an a couple of extensions to what hurts the most.

My LCD TV buzzed like it was going explode plugged into this...

My laptop power supply started charging, but within 30 seconds stopped and would not re-start

My line-interactive UPS would not accept power from it

The plugs on the front feel cheap and are difficult to actually plug into, when you do plug in you hear very worrisome sounding "POP"s and other electrical type noises... doesn't instill any confidence

It DID generate power, so I suppose if you're running a regular light bulb or something it would be fine... but if you think you'll be able to run a small modern TV, laptop or other electronic devices--look elsewhere.

I can see why it's discontinued on the B&D site (something I learned afterwards)... I'll be returning it.

Ordered Stanley Model LI1000 jump starter 3/7/12 and received unit 3/9/12. Spent weekend unsuccessfully attempting to charge it and then found that Amazon doesn't accept returns on this item! I then called the manufacturer, Stanley, and they expected me to pay shipping charges to repair an item that they released as defective. Then I called Amazon and was promised an immediate replacement--the "brightest" spot in the whole transaction. We'll see how well the replacement performs. Incidentally, they directed me to dispose of the original unit as I see fit.

The only one like it that I could find,

So far this booster pack has only been used a handful of times, but it has not failed me yet. I charged it up immediately when I got it and it sat in the box for months before the first use. I used it to jump start a 2002 3/4 ton GM truck with 8.1 liter engine. The truck's battery was totally flat. This booster pack was connected to the truck and I pressed the button to start the boost process (note that this will only boost for a short period of time before you need to push the button again safety feature I guess). I let the booster pack "charge" the truck's battery for a few minutes, and then hit the key. Viola! Truck is running. The built in LED light on this pack is also handy for night time operations. I am very pleased with this so far. Time will tell if the Li-ion battery will last longer than the dry cell packs in all the other booster packs I have owned,

To me this radio works better than the small two way radios, thats why I bought it. Yes it's a little bigger than the 2 way radios, but what I really wanted was more clearly transmission and a longer range which is what I got.

This is a reasonable product for the price. I liked that I could power it with the included car adapter without any batteries required. With the small attached antenna, it seems the range from inside a car is probably only a few hundred yards. So I bought a magnetic roof mounted antenna at Radio Shack for $35 (I later saw one at a truck stop for $20), plus a $5 adapter to convert the normal CB antenna plug to the smaller plug on the Midland. This improved reception, I'm estimating to about a mile radius (my estimate is based on conversations I hear from truckers in the opposite direction on the freeway; at 60 mph (so about 120 mph differential speed), a conversation comes in and then fades out in about 1 minute total. But a 1 mile radius is still pretty pitiful for a CB, you really don't hear much of the chatter even on a busy truck freeway like the I-10 between California and Arizona. And transmission seemed even weaker; I couldn't get anybody from the opposite direction to hear me, but rather only people a few hundred yards in the same direction. So in short, if you want something to chat with a caravan buddy, two of these would likely work fine and are a great price (and you don't have to mess with batteries like with many newer handheld two-way radios). Add an antenna if you want the bare minimum ability to communicate with truckers. For anything more, you have to lay down more bucks for a much more powerful CB radio that can blast a signal and can pick up signals much farther away.

For those who buy a CB for their kids to have fun on family road trips, be aware that some truckers have really really foul mouths (I have a very high tolerance for those things, and even I think some of the things a few drivers say are just downright gross). It can still be fun, but be ready to turn down the volume!

I think you're missing a fundamental fact about handheld radios. They don't work well inside of a car. For people who are used to mobile CB's with an external antenna, of much greater length, sitting out on top of the car and using the body of the car as a ground plane... you just can't compare that to a handheld. You're going to hate it. If you're inside of the car, the metal body of the car is destroying most of your transmission. You need to get the antenna outside of the car. If that means getting the necessary adapters and wiring your handheld to a magnetic mount antenna on your roof, then so be it. You will find you radio is getting out MUCH farther with that external antenna.

I've bought 2 of these. Outdoor reception is great. Sound clarity is better than the FRS radios a friend has. The only drawback has been poor reception from inside a vehical. They do have the standard jack for an external antenna which can be picked up for around $20. Mag mount to your car and reception is great.

I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy 2 note wasn't charging in my car, charge would stay the same. Then I realized it needs a 2 amp charger. So I bought 2 of these for both of my cars and wasn't disappointed. Now it charges in no time and the white back piece glows a cool blue to let you know you have power.

Only problem is that I seldom need it because battery life is so good on the note 2.

I bought two based on the good reviews. However, with the GTMax car charger / car audio jack plugged in my phone the same time, it often generates quite loud, wired noise from the car audio speakers. This happened before the audio kicked in (when audio is on, it has no noise).

I'm NOT sure if this chargers is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S3. I have it charged my phone for a few times. It seems it charged the phone ok and fast. But I'm still concerned if it could damage my phone in the near future.

I don't have the same noise problem with my previous smartphone with a no-name car charger.

Also note this charger has no label whatsoever for voltage/output/input information.

I'll return these chargers, just for a peace of mind.

Update 1/14/2012

My friend has a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the charger charged his phone ok. No loud humming noise as when I charged my S3. I noticed this charger is rated 2.0 A while S3 original charger is 1.0 A. Galaxy Note2 original charger is 2.0 A. I guess this charger is too strong for S3, and it may just good for Note 2 or similar device that requires 2.0 A charger.

I recommend you use this charger for a suitable phone. I'm just not comfortable to use it with my S3. I gave the chargers to my friend as a result.

I bump the rating up from 1 star to 3 stars.

I visited this page by chance and noticed the seller has dropped Galaxy S3 as a compatible charger in the product title. Well, they should do this when I first bought this charger :(
