The car charger was great for me because one time I forget to plug in at night. I only have the one charger in the house and my daughter suggested I get one for the car, but I did not think I needed it. I ran into a problem before ordering the charger where I was in the car with only one bar left to talk and it was a day when everyone was calling. Thank you for this great charger, works in minutes.

I love this transmitter! When I first got it, I was disappointed that it seemed like you could not transmit in the best frequency of 87.9, but then I figured it out:

To change it to international mode (with the frequency 87.9 and so forth) all you have to do is hold the preset button for about 15 seconds, and the US will start flashing. Then you just hit the plus or minus to change to international mode, and voila! You now have the much coveted 87.9 frequency!

Since this transmitter will always be usable for any future mp3 player that I can imagine, (they are all going to have to have headphone jacks, right?) this means:

THIS IS THE LAST TRANSMITTER YOU WILL EVER HAVE TO BUY!

End of story. Get it. Now.

As an iPhone owner it took months for us to find a FM transmitter that gave us the ability to use our iPhone's iPod music capability in the car. Yes, this item is compatible with iPhone. Please see pros and cons below... (reviewed updated 6/21/2008)

Pro:

-iPhone and other MP3 player compatible (i.e. equipped with a "super minijack" headphone connection). Note: please don't confuse compatible with exceptional quality.

-Will power the iPhone and I think it can serve as a charger for it too

-Stores 4 pre-programmed stations

-Long cord could connect to a back seat lighter, not just the front (nice for those of you who have a lighter/socket in the rear)

-Acceptible broadcast strength, plenty loud as long as the iPhone volume is set loud.

-Price is reasonable relative to others on the market

-Buttons are flush with the front, fewer accidental button presses like I had experienced with my other (obsolete) transmitter

-In addition to buttons that cycle through the presets, there's up/down buttons to fine tune stations

-Socket has green LED when ready, turns amber when charging signaling that you are actually getting power

-Plastic case is less hard to open than others, the first that I can recall where I could pull it apart by hand (there's a tab in the back)... although a heavy pair of scissors are recommended

-Price is moderate, less than many (although not the least expensive either)

Con:

-Display is not backlit

-Broadcast strength and quality could be better

-Two cords, one plugs into the headphone jack, the other supplies power... a "quick and dirty" design (other competing models now use only one connector through the bottom connector, no separate connection to the headphone jack)

Nuetral:

-You must supply your own USB-based power cable. Since this is a one-size fits all device, it would be unreasonable to ask them to give you one for every player on the market...

-A small display... a pro or con, depending on the situation

-Made overseas, where quality often suffers (however, so far so good)

-Between the cable and the power cords, that's a lot of cable. I used the twist ties that came with the unit to help wrap up the excess wire to minimize tangling, you may want to too

-For iPhone users: the iPhone periodically emits a powerful magnetic field that interferes with this unit. I've found this true with other devices like my clock radio and phone at work

Bottom line: with recent advances now 3 stars (Amazon does not allow you to change the rating for an item once it is ranked). There are better items now on the market, but a low-cost option, especially good for non-iPhone applications due to random iPhone static interference.

This device works really well... IF you change it from US frequencies to International as explained by Random Bimms in another review of this product. (Thanks Random!!) I was having trouble finding a clear frequency in the D-FW area until I found the secret of setting it to 87.8 MHz. Too bad this tip isn't included in the instructions. With the USB charging connectivity, this is truly a universal transmitter/charger. Don't lock yourself into a unit that is dedicated to a particular brand/model... this one works with all of them that have a standard stereo headphone jack and USB charging.

Honest reviews on Griffin iTrip Universal FM Transmitter and Charger for MP3 Players

It's great not having to have any batteries for the transmitter OR the MP3 player. Works fine despite crowded NYC airwaves. Only thing lacking is an on/off switch; I have to pull it out of the lighter socket to keep it from draining the car battery.

Does just as advertised. Except your MP3 player must be set to a high volume. I had trouble finding an unused frequency because I live in a giant urban area. I use 92.1, but as you go from city to city unused frequencies will change.

When I got my remote start installed at best buy i was the happiest man under the sun, it was the great to know in the cold I could start/stop, have my windows go roll up and much more. After a few months of pressing the start/stop, the function and aux button, the side plastic housing body started to crack then it broke. I tried super glue a few times and it was a quick fix, but nothing long lasting.

I started to use the second key that is only a one way, but the way that one is built is that if you put it in your pocket with anything then you might come back to a car that's running that you didn't want to be running and you won't even know for how long. (Yes, I am speaking from experience)

I gave this 3 starts not because it doesn't work right (the guy at best buy didn't do his job right I know), but because they need to make this side buttons able to be used and not sucked all the way into the housing.

This was an exact replacement for my Viper 7901 original remote. Just followed instructions on back of package and pairing was easy.

Honest reviews on Directed Electronics 7752V Replacement Transmitter Supercode Remote

A great replacement remote. I actually think it's much better than the original. My original remote died due to water damage so I ended up using the secondary remote. But I ended up dropping it a few times and the clip holding the battery ended up breaking. So I went out looking for a new replacement. At first I looked into buying a new secondary remote, but I missed the features of the two way remote. So I decided to go with the 7752V. The replacement comes with a rubberized back, not like the plastic back of the original, so it's much easier to hang on to. I find that the battery even lasts longer. Everything else seems the same, all the features of the original are the same, the instructions that come with it are pretty straightforward so pairing it with my existing alarm was a breeze. All in all, I would definitely recommend this remote.

I really like the fact that I have power if I ever get in a bind, but I wouldn't use this as an everyday car charger for iphone or any usb device simply because it is too noisy. The fan is pretty loud. However, the power outlet works like a charm and I've been able to charge my laptop perfectly whenever it runs out on the road. Happy with what I got it for. I purchased the item knowing it was going to be noisy. Not bad for $20

This power inverter was great for the price, less than 25 bucks but bad for noise. If your like me and the noise from the engine on an airplane puts you to sleep, then this inverter is not for you. The inverter's fan is quiet loud, not as loud as a hair dryer but close enough. I would guess-a-mate that its as loud as a laptop fan if you put your ear on it.

This works fine but it does not plug directly into the radio...rather, you plug this adapter into the desktop base unit and then put the radio in the base. Somewhat misleading, but it does do the job it is supposed to do.

this cable can be plugged into the desk cradle, that is what it is meant for, thus it gives a stable base while traveling, mine sits in the console of my explorer and rides very well there.there should be a 500ma fuse in it

I purchased this because other reviewers reported it fits the built-in jack on the Baofeng UV5R extended battery. No it doesn't. It fits in the desk charger. I bought this with the sole purpose of plugging it in and putting my radio in a cup holder. I can't see the practicality of putting my DESK charger in my car; the radio would constantly flip out and fall.

I wonder if other reviewers actually bought this item or just looked at the pic and exclaimed,"Ooo, I know what that's for !!".

Be advised; this charger does work, but not in the manner others have stated.

This cable works in concert with the charger that comes with the transceiver. A must if you need to charge a battery and do not have an electrical outlet. I bought a spare battery to switch on the radio and the depleted battery can be put in the charging cradle with the car charger cable plugged in. Really rounds out the system.

This product has two major issues:

1. While it's description claims it has a 2 Amp port and a 1 Amp port, the reality is that it has bridged the two ports and it can only source 2 Amps total. It is not capable of delivering 3 Amps combined like the description implicitly claims and could never simultaneously charge an iPad and a smart phone. (UPDATE: The technical details section now indicates more clearly the 2A total, which is appreciated.)

2. The 2 Amp port appears to be using the Apple protocol for USB power, so that port will only provide 0.5 Amps to most other devices.

The upside of this is the 1 Amp port somewhat over delivers, and can source 2 Amps if nothing else is connected and 1.5 Amps if the 2 Amp port is sourcing 0.5 Amps for a non-Apple device. Thus this product can support one-high power non-Apple device (in the 1 Amp port) and one lower power device (in the 2 Amp port).

Now some more background/details...

First, a little background on USB charging for those who don't know:

The USB power spec is for 0.5 Amps at 5 Volts... or 2.5 Watts. This was great up until the last couple years when devices have gotten really power hungry, particularly smartphones and tablets and to a lesser extent dedicated GPS's. Some of these devices use over 2 Amps, particularly the tablets like the iPad (or in my case the HP Touchpad).

Manufacturers of these devices therefore had a dilemma. If they had their devices pull more than 0.5 Amps, they risked damaging the power source, which could be a computer, that was only prepared to source 0.5 Amps. Thus the manufacturers have used tricks to determine whether their device is connected to an unknown source, at which point they purposely only draw 0.5 Amps, or to the dedicated charger that was provided with the device, where they can draw all the power they need.

There seem to be two common tricks used. The first is to short the two data-wires together in the charger. This is what most non-Apple devices do. Since a computer or older device wouldn't have done this, the device can assume it is safe to draw all the power it needs.

Apple seems to have taken a different approach, one that I don't fully understand but know can be seen by the fact that the data lines are neither open nor shorted when the charger is plugged in, and is more sophisticated and probably superior, because I suspect it allows the device to know exactly how much power it can use.

While Apple taking a better approach might be nice in concept, it's created chaos in the USB charger product category. What is the non-specific charger to do? They can't support both.

This device chose to go the Apple route for the 2 Amp port. I don't own any high-power Apple devices, so I can't say for sure, but I suspect this unit performs well with Apple devices. Using electronic equipment I was able to draw 2 Amps when putting a fixed load on this USB charging port. However, when I connect any of the 3 high-power devices I have (HP Touchpad (2 Amps), Motorola Triumph Android phone (0.85 Amps) and the LG Optimus Slider (0.7 Amps)), none of them drew all the current they could have, because they were expecting a shorted set of data-lines.

Luckily for my purposes, the 1 Amp port on this device uses the data-line shorting method. As such, it was able to deliver all the power my Triumph and Optimus wanted. However, for some reason, even when it was the only device connected, it would not fully charge the HP Touchpad at the 2 Amps it could have, because for one reason or another, the HP Touchpad rejected it as a high power charger.

To be honest, this surprised me because it was able to source the 2 Amps the Touchpad claims it needs and the HP Touchpad charger has the data-lines shorted. So I'm not sure why this didn't work.

Thus this device gets 3 stars (UDPATE: 4 stars) because it can source the current it claims (minus the somewhat deceptive 2A + 1A notation (UPDATE: Which is now more clear in the technical details)), would likely support an iPad like it claims, but falls short in other regards noted elsewhere.

For non-Apple users, or even more so mixed users (say an iPad and an Android phone?) this device is superior to the other device I purchased, the "Kensington K33497US PowerBolt Duo Car Charger" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PU01M4/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details) because on that device, NEITHER port works with non-Apple devices (although it performed better power-wise, see my review over there for details).

I've ordered two additional devices:

"Ultra Compact High Output Dual USB Car Charger 2.1A Output" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00470C35E/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details)

"Bracketron Universal Dual USB Car Adapter (UGC-298-BL)" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056VNVV8/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details)

Hopefully one of the two of them will be able to deliver to their specs for my devices.

UPDATE: I've increased my review to 4 stars for two reasons:

1. The changed technical details text makes it more clear its total power capacity.

2. Of the 4 models I purchased, it's one of the two I kept and it's the only one I kept in unmodified form. That's got to count for something. :)

Honest reviews on PowerGen 2.4Amps / 12W Dual USB Car charger Designed for Apple

I bought two of these to use to charge our new iPhone 5's. They work great, charging about 1% or more for every one minute plugged in.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for PowerGen 2.4Amps / 12W Dual USB Car charger Designed for Apple

The contacts on this charger do not work at all with either of the power outlets in my 2007 Honda Accord EX-L. I have tried jiggling, rotating, wedging, reinserting, and every other motion I can think of to try to form a solid contact, but the most I've gotten is a couple of short blips from my iPhone indicating that it detects a power source; a moment later, the contact breaks and the phone no longer charges. This charger is absolutely unusable in my car.

However, I put charger in my girlfriend's 2002 VW Beetle and it works perfectly. So I just let her keep it instead of dealing with return shipping, and I ordered the Kensington K33497US PowerBolt Duo for myself.

So 1 star for not working in my car (and not warning me about it before ordering), but since it works fine in another car and I'd probably give it 5 stars if it worked in mine, I'm averaging it to 3.

No doubt about it, this is an expensive radio. For the $140 it costs for one of them, you can 4 consumer cheapo radios. But you get what you pay for. This is a pro quality radio. Give it the knuckle rap test. This thing is solid like a brick. It doesn't feel like a cheap TV remote control like most consumer family radios. When I first got it, I was disappointed because it was so small. It's about the size of all the other family radios. I thought great, I just paid a fortune for another dinky family radio. Don't be fooled though. This is best made, well built radio of it's size you will find short of $500+ professional gear. It's speaker gets way louder than you'd expect for its size. I also use it with an external speaker mic and it works superbly. The range and signal quality are hard to beat. The only better built radio you'll find is in the pro radio class, like a Motorola HT1000 which costs 3 times as much, is bigger, heavier and you have to have a professional program it for you. If you want one of the best made consumer GRMS/FRS radios that works out of the box, this one can't be beat. The battery life is awesome too, I could ski for two days without charging it, maybe longer. I'm sorry I underestimated it by its size, in the real world it's a winner.

**UPDATE** This review is for the GMRS consumer version of this radio. This listing is the business/commercial version of the radio. Still a great radio for business use, but if you're looking for the GMRS version, it may have been discontinued or you may have to find it somewhere else, I don't see it on Amazon now. Which is too bad.

I have a 1kw system on the roof. This Charge controller is able to handle the capsids with out a problem. I like that it is 12v or 24v, The wire connection point are well insolated and easy to use. I have not had to retighten them like I have had to do with other products. The display shows the battery power when connected. The back light is nice but uses a lot of battery life at night. To me having the light on is not worth the energy that it uses, again the display is easy to read with the light off. The real question is would I buy another one? Yes. It is a nice unit that has flexibility and gives the user options while setting up the solar system.

It really gets old eating fast food while out on the road.I'm a trucker and thats all they have in most travel centers. On Christmas my girlfriend got me this, and its the best gift I could have gotten. This is a tackle box stove, and its mainly a food warmer. This will get pretty hot also, and after plugged in for only 10 minutes the bottom plate has plenty of heat.I can pull into a rest area, throw some hot pockets or burritos in it.Then head down the road and then pull over and have lunch in about an hour. This stove saves me a whole lot of money as well,as i really don't have a need to eat out when I'm on the road.In the morning i can put some sausage biscuits in it and in 30 min. there piping hot.As for dinner i can warm up leftover pizza, lasagna, soups, or pretty much any frozen food and it comes out great. If theres any negative thing to this stove,I'm not sure what it would be.Its prefect for a someone running solo or a team.So if you want to eat healthier on the road or just to be able to bring some real good food with you, this would be the item to have.

UPDATE 4/11I need to to let people know i am still enjoying my stove.I'm able to pull over put my food in my stove, and about an hour later its done.I was getting burned out on hotpockets,so found other great things to cook.miniature pizzas for 45 min.(butches pizza) work great in this, you might need to trim it though.Chicken wings for 60 min.(walgreens premade)work great in this too,and a nice treat for me.campbells chucky soups for 60-90 min. using loaf pans lined with foil, our great to have as well.I like the clam chowder & chicken gumbo sausage soups.BBQ sandwiches work great in this too,i buy lloyds premade pork for 45 min.,and a package of buns and i'm set for the week.Mozzarella sticks & cheddar poppers for 45 min.our a nice treat as well. This stove really saves me a whole lot of money and being a long distance trucker,it gives me a chance to have something decent when i'm gone.

I want o start by saying the image shown doesn't really look like the Roadpro I got, the one pictured looks cheaply made and flimsy. The one I got looks much better built. Also there are no tins, not a big deal as I had some already (and I recommend getting some they will be handy)

That said this thing is awesome! I pre-made a few breakfast burritos to heat up while we were out in the Mts on a day trip. I got out my little stove to give it a try, grabbed my burrito out of the ice chest and about 10mins later had a hot meal and I do mean hot! This thing definitely lives up to the 300 degrees.

Two things to note:

1. The bottom of the stove gets fairly warm. I only had it on for 15-20mins at a time so I can't say how hot it would get but it was hot enough I took notice.

2. I felt the need to flip my burritos as it heated more on the bottom than the top. Stacking two to three didn't work well either. There was plenty of room but the ones on top didn't get hot, they might have got a little warmer but not much.

I'm a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service here in Alaska. My route does not afford any stores or restraunts on it. I saw this and read most of the feed back, I thought it was a good idea.

Now the aluminum pans they talk about are fine, but you have to put food in them and seal the top with foil. You have to throw them away after eating. If your not careful, the bottom may burn if you don't cover it.

I have found a way, if your a regular user of this item to save money in the long run. I bought on Amazon, stainless steel bread loaf pans that met the measurements of the aluminum pans. I had to use my shop grinder to take about 75% of the lip off of them so they would not interfere with the rubber seal that goes around the unit. They are perfect now!

I put in about 4 ounces of water, set the pan in that's covered tightly with foil. About 30-40 minutes before I stop, I plug it in. Simple.

Example, fried potatoes and scrambled eggs, packed tightly into the pan, clear full. Refrigerated overnight, put into the RoadPro when I got to work with the lid closed. It was cold clear thru when I turned on the oven. I was surprised it heated that cold thing right through in 35 minutes.....! I have not expermented with frozen stuff yet, but I will have to try it soon.

All I can say, is if you have a pan wrapped in foil, the water starts to boil in 15 minutes, you see some puffs of steam, but don't open it. You'll have a very hot meal soon.

*** Just don't let it slide or tip. I move over curbs and big bumps all the time, as long as it's secured to one spot, you won't have a problem.***

Hope this helps!

Honest reviews on RoadPro 12-Volt Portable Stove, Black

I work for the Fire Department Emergency Medical Services and always find it very difficult to have lunch since we are not given a lunch break. So, now I can just heat up my food while working and have a nice hot home made meal as soon as I have a chance instead of waiting for take out fast food. Trust me that now in this difficult times 911 is very busy and sometimes we dont even make it to a fast food restaurant. So its also a very smart way to save money for those of us working on the road.

It was so nice to have a hot meal on the outing. Beware, it draws a little over 12 amps and most car accessories are fused at 6 or 8 amps (at least the ones I've seen). I custom built my Accessory line and made it heavy duty for a 20 amp service so I was OK from the start. The unit says it runs at 144 Watts, and my ammeter agreed (12V X 12A =144W). Definately use the foil trays and consider using extra foil in those trays to cover whatever you have in them to keep it from spilling if the stove gets knocked around at all.

The items in the bottom of the tray were scorched (hot dogs) the first time I used the stove, and they were really hot after about 1/2 hour or so. The second day I added some water into the bottom of the stove (under the tray) and it was perfect...no scorching, and still really hot. I can hardly wait to try it again and come up with different things to heat up.

You can spend 3 or 4 times the price easily on getting power to your tank bag. I go touring annually so this does not get daily use but does get beaten up over a two week period. The product is a little cheap feeling but hey it is cheap. Charging through 3 lighter connections and 2 USBs you will never run out of space. I would recommend this and I will replace it 3 or 4 times before spending more on the other brands.

I bought 2 of these, one for my Samsung Galaxy S3, and one for my wife's LG Optimus Black. Don't get me wrong, the product is pretty cool, and the cable being retractable is a great feature, as you don't have wires all around your car. But a problem I found is that when I'm using it with my Galaxy S3, the battery drain is faster than the charging. This means that the amperage output of the charger is not enough to keep up with the normal discharge when using the phone as a GPS, or even to check Facebook in a parking lot or in the red lights.

I read some forums which say that this phone needs a charger with a 1 Amp output to be able to get charged while using it in the car. I did some research on this charger, and could not find the output it's generating. I even contacted the manufacturer , to ask them about this product, but didn't get a reply.

So, the charger works very well on smaller phones which don't require a high amperage to get charged, but the Galaxy S3 just drains the battery too fast when in use, so this charger is not good for it.

This charger is so compact that it's easy for me to put it in my purse and have it handy in my car or my husband's car. It was a good price and arrived quicker than the company promised. I'm happy with every aspect of this transaction.

This was a great purchase. We have gone through about 4 "cheap" chargers for our Samsung Galaxy S3, but finally found this one. The retractable cord is perfect and very useful. It has the perfect amount of give and seems like it will stand up to daily use. Great product and we would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a well priced charger.

Why did I knock off one star? Because it took me about 15 minutes to get the little covers on the earbuds and another 30 to figure out how to set up the belt clip. I still haven't figured out how the key chain fits into the scheme of things. BUT, those "complaints" aside, this is a great little bundle of goodies for your Fuze+. Charging from wall, computer, or car a cute little rechargeable speaker, an audio cable to connect it to your car radio (and other setups as well). The screen protector came with a cut in the packaging, so I was concerned, but nothing inside was affected, and the cut actually made it easier to open the package. The screen protector itself comes with pretty good instructions unlike anything else in the package. Personally, I'd love to see a little "bag" included to keep everything together for traveling. A quart-sized zipper bag holds it all very nicely, so I'm set. All in all, I really like this package.

You get what you pay for i guess... when I first plugged it in it makes a high pich tone, which is very annoying. I found that if I used batteries instead of the car charger adapter, the sound went away, this worked for about a week, then the sound came back, just before the thing crapped out completely.

The way I figure it this $7 transmitter laster 7 days. At $1 per day, I know I can spend $30 and get one that will last more than a month (probably years), so that is what I'm going to do.

I see a lot of complaints here, but I really don't know why. This product is definitely worth the buy and it is really cheap. I've been through a lot of FM Transmitters and this $5 product is the best! Little to no static. I've had an expensive Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter and that was garbage compared to this. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. This product is more than worth it.

I got this device for my wife to use in her car for her phone. It is working fine and better then not having one. The one little issue is that in our area (city) the channels that this uses to transmit on is used so in some spots the music from the radio slips through while she is listening to her phone.

This FM transmitter worked great for me out in the country, when there are few radio stations that interview but when I'm in cities it usually got a lot of static and was not as useable. The wire got a short in it after using it about every other day for 3 months, but hey, it's inexpensive and great way to hear your device through speakers if you don't have an AV input in your car.
