At work, we upgraded to these radios from Motorola Mag One BTR40 models, which had old and rather worthless batteries. These radios are very durable and water resistant. They have a long battery life, and never have problems running for an entire work day. They are much more compact than other older VHF radios. The only problem with this radio is that the belt clip is secured by a very small plastic loop, which breaks easily if abused. For such a tough radio it is strange that the manufacturers did not produce a better belt clip. Other than that, these radios perform very satisfactorily under demanding conditions.

This jewel is very light to pack a 50Amp punch. I connected it to a battery insufficient to turn over the starter. The guy working on the house left his light on in the truck bed. I connected the charger to the battery while in the 2Amp mode, then plugged the battery charger into the 120VAC receptacle. I then switched it to the 50Amp selection and allowed to charge the battery for 4-5 minutes. While the charger was still connected to the battery, the guy was able to start his truck. Man was I blown away. Following the instructions, I changed the charging selection switch to the 2Amp mode, disconnected the charger from the 120VAC receptacle, and then disconnected it from the battery. How sweet no arcing, no sparking. This is a must have!!! Excellent value and quality.

I bought this charger 3 months ago and it failed this morning when I plugged it in. There was no load on the charger as the alligator clips were well separated and definitely not short circuited. Being an engineer I took the cover off, traced the circuit diagram and ohmed-out the transformer to find that the transformer had failed. It is not repairable.

UL approval requires that the hot wire of the power line first go to a circuit protection device (fuse or circuit breaker). There is no visible fuse or circuit breaker in the 120V circuit. The hot power wire goes directly to the transformer, which is a gross UL violation, unless there is a fuse inside the transformer, which I cannot determine since it is a sealed unit. The neutral wire goes to a switch which chooses different transformer taps for different output current settings. Thus, it appears that the 120V circuit must be protected by the house circuit breaker.

A small point, the 50 amp. output is unlikely since there is a 35 amp. 12 volt breaker in series with the negative DC output lead. This, of course, does not protect the AC side of the circuit.

Be very careful with this product as it may be a fire waiting to happen. If you own one I suggest that you place it on a concrete floor far away from any combustible materials. Do not place this unit on a wooded work bench while plugged in to AC power.

Overall this unit functions perfectly, and its light weight and ample AC cord and battery cable length make it easy to hook up and use. Except for an old used service station charger that was given to me, I have never owned anything but Schumacher chargers, and have never had one to fail. The old Schumachers that were replaced with newer models with upgraded features were all handed down and continue to serve family and friends. I ordered a model SE-5212A several months ago, and was very impressed with the upgraded features, especially the over-charge protection. This feature is a real worry-free way to keep a full charge on my lawn equipment batteries, my boat batteries (including conventional deep cycle and starting batteries). I have not had a need to use the 50 amp start feature on an auto battery, but I did use it on a small garden tractor battery. The tractor engine started with nearly no effort. I really believe this is the best charger for any of us do-it-yourselfers regardless of price. I was so impressed, I just ordered a second one so I can keep one in the garage and the other in a detached shop.

I had to use a Samsung SGH-A167 phone for a while. I needed a car adapter and bought the Duracell DU5211, which is this model without the wall adapter. (The SGH-A167 was offered as an AT&T GoPhone prepaid phone.)

This unit includes a universal cable and three tips which I assume fit various Samsung models. I only used one.

It works OK and charges promptly. No problems there. The cigarette lighter adapter has a small green LED so you know it is connected.

The only issue so far is that the tip does not quite correctly fit the Samsung SGH-A167 plug...it sticks out slightly. I think the edge could be trimmed easily with a Dremel tool, file, or sandpaper if one was careful.

No other issues. No outstanding features, but it worked as advertised. Four stars.

The product itself is fantastic, unfortunately the one I ordered was missing a part but my payment was promptly refunded to me. If there were additional ones available at the time of the return I would not have hesitated to order replacement. I did find the product elswhere howver and it is a fantastic univeral charging solution. In addition to having the tip that I needed, it also had a mini USB tip. So basically this charger will work from car, home, and USB port, and because of the extra tips fitting other needs of mine, it replaces chargers for my tablet (primanry reason I bought it), my cell phone, and my GPS.

I bought one of these on the road when I forgot my charger. It stood up to 3 years of abuse but finally kicked the bucket. Bought this one as a replacement. They have really improved the design. It has a slightly smaller form factor. I really like the different charging heads that screw into the main USB cable. We will see how it holds up long term, but I'm confident it will take the worst I can dish out.

Not only is this magnetic charger annoying, but it has shown to be unreliable. The contacts are spring-loaded, and on the first two I have owned, the spring on one of the contacts has given out, rendering it useless.

To be honest, I must accept some of the blame, as I have been known to put it on the charger right after a run, and the residual sweat may have corroded the electrodes/spring, but what idiot designed it so you would sweat into the electrical connections. The same problem existed on the 405, and they've made it worse! Unfortunately, I have no other option for charging my $350.00 watch, than this unreliable "system".

I haven't had any problems with the magnetic clasp. It clicks right on and the watch doesn't fall off. I switched my band to the cloth version for a more secure fit. The charger still fits snug and doesn't feel loose.

I really didn't want to buy another cell phone or get my charge port fixed. i need my cell! so i found this product on amazon and gave it a shot. Ok the good is that it charges your battery. The bad is that it takes 3 hours to charge, your battery has to be placed inside a device and then plugged into the wall or car charger. There is a red light indicator that turns blue when fully charged. This light turned blue after 1 hour on a dead cell. and when i put batt back in cell, batt was still a dead cell. So i changed where i plugged in device . I just plugged it in another socket in the house and that time it charged for the full 3 hours. This has happened time and time again but as long as when i change sockets and it charges then i would recommend this product to someone.Its a good product if you don't want to buy another cell or get it fixed and if you don't mind not being able to talk while cell batt is charging cause you have to take batt out in order to charge it.Also it has only two copper connecters that touches the copper connectors on batt. At 1st i thought hey wait this thing has only 2 copper connectors that touch batt, will it charge, YES. Ok you have to let left connector touch left connector on batt and right connector touch the right one on batt. the middle connector on batt doesn't have to have a copper connector touching it in order for to charge.

I wanted a male outlet on the outside of some equipment, but I did not want to deal with soldering mains wires & the risks involved. This item is perfect there's a weather resistant recessed male plug on the outside, and a normal female plug on the inside. It's a bit stiff, and the wire angles down, so if you want to mount at the bottom of an enclosure it's a bit tight.

Escape 150 battery pack (the Coffee Maker looking battery) often goes with the Boulder 15 Solar Panel. The advertisement says to expect to fully charge the Escape 150 battery from empty charge in about 15 hours using the panel. When I bought the two together I charged the battery to full and then ran it down to empty. The next morning at sun up (I live in the California desert mountains . . so I'm high above the haze layer and have 100% crystal blue sky and sun) so I faced the panel directly at the sun for 11 hours solid. At the end of that time I was knocking on the door of 80% power (75%??) according to the battery charge indicator, and took the next day for another 3 hours (total of 14ish hours) to get the Escape 150 fully charged. Recommendation: if you're going to run the Escape 150 down to empty during the day/night (for laptops, etc.) then you'll need two (2) Boulder 15 solar panels (daisy-chained) to fully recharge the battery the next day. NOTE: Also, I did run the battery to empty off 3 of their LED lights (which are outstanding at 207 illumens 3-watt, "Light-a-life" as they're called). Manufacturer states to expect getting 16 hours of light (with 3 lights daisy chained). I got 17 hours 10 minutes with the Escape 150 battery.

I had to stay in a tent for a week during the hottest week of the summer in upstate NY. I was alone with my dogs. I was able to run a 12v DC fan I had all night and still listen to podcasts on my smartphone while it stayed charged. I had to recharge it once and used the outlet at the camp pavillion. I have been looking for a product that I could use in the event of an extended power outage--in particular, I wanted something that could be recharged using solar panels and would provide me the ability to charge my ultrabook, Kindle, cell phone, and other small portable electronic devices or run a cable modem/router combination. After doing a fair bit of research about various options, including evaluating some much more expensive possibilities including the Duracell Powerpacks and even considering building my own setup by purchasing an inverter, lead acid batteries, and a solar charge controller, I decided to give this a try.

I have run various experiments and so far it performs very well. Although I am a Goal Zero fan, I recognize that not all of their products are well made. However, this seems like a well-designed and well-built unit. To be sure, with ~150WHr of battery and an 80W maximum output you aren't going to be able to run anything big on this (and there is only a single AC outlet), but for maintaining connectivity in an emergency this seems like it will do the job nicely. I've been able to full charge the unit in about 6 hours of full sunlight using two 15-watt Boulder solar panels chained together. It can also charge devices that are plugged in while being charged itself. The optional Light-A-Life accessory, which plugs directly into the DC output (and thus avoids the slight power loss than comes from operating the inverter), is bright and lasts forever. I was also able to run my router/cable modem combination for several hours after charging a Kindle completely and my laptop partially before exhausting the battery.

One thing I was a bit worried about was whether the battery would be of sufficient quality--the last thing you'd want in an emergency would be to find that you main backup power source can't hold a charge. I was surprised when I opened my unit to discover that the battery was a Ritar RT-12140EV, which is a deep-cycle battery designed for running electric vehicles. Although for this type of device a deep-cycle is really the only thing that makes sense (when only a limited amount of power is available to begin with, who isn't going to want to fully discharge the battery?), from what I'd read about the product, I wasn't expecting a deep-cycle. So I was pleasantly surprised to see it included one.

I attend small trade shows several times a year. The hosting hotels want to charge for electricity to light up our banners, $80.00 to !50.00 for a few hours of show booth time. This battery combined with LED frood lights that I setup can light up my booth for over 3 hours. It is so convenient (size, looks, and weight) I am getting a second one for backup. I can have one being charged in my room while using the other one at the booth. As each vendor display session is no more than 3 hours, I can be lit up without the unreasonable hotel charges. Handy to carry, reliable, looks great, and provides a good service. I will be breaking even within 6 months...and not get agravated by the unreasonable hotel fees.

The Garmin Nuvi is worth recharging at home or on the road. The home charger sets you up with plenty of power to not need any more for hundreds of miles. I have Onstar in one car and the Garmin Nuvi in the other. Garmin does a more accurate job of locating your car and giving better directions. I like the visible display of where I am and where I need to go, and how to get there in addition to the voice guidance.
